I just think it's the way the model is built - she looks to have wider hip bone width/wider hips and also kind of bowed at the knees/calves area - I am guessing this because I have a similar type of build although not quite as obvious (at least I don't think it is...).

Anonymous said...

I'm more concerned about the model whose knees go inward on themselves...
Anyway, so many TV static prints again.

Agree 4:16!!! Lolol

No that's just the way she's built

I think she is bow legged...I've noticed it for several weeks now. I think some get this from years of horse back riding as hers is quite pronounced. I have knees that tend to buckle in a bit lol...total opposite

Anonymous said...

It's the same bow legged model they like to use. If they really want to sell their clothes, they should take some tips from Athleta and picture more models doing an activity

Anonymous said...

They're called bowed legs. Not weird.

LOL this is super funny..... bow legs knock knees.... too funny!!!! Not laughing at them (the models btw); watch out the PC police will come out of the wood work and let you know that you are insensitive and shame you for saying something that could give the poor girl a complex!!!!! I once called an item's design retarded and boy did I hear about it!!!! Wow it was something to behold! No go on girls all shapes and sizes :)

C'mon guys...

These are some of the prettiest models out there IMHO. They have sold me more clothes than any other website models period.

Yes, she's bow-legged...but I love that they are all different sizes & shapes.

Wow, is this middle school? I thought there had been an agreement before about not making comments that body-shame?
So the model is somewhat bow-legged. So what? I'm not perfect either.

Not super impressed with anything this upload, although I do like the ice wave (they didn't have nearly enough Nami Wave for my liking--I'm in love with that print).

Mostly came by to talk knees/legs. The one model is bow-legged. I don't think it's photoshopped due to the continuation of the angle into her calves. The inward one is more common in women, but from the musculature and the rest of the legs I don't think either is photoshopped. :)

Wow so now were getting nasty about the models bodies?! That's a bit too far

The legs of the models are too weird. What's going on?

Nothing for me. Waiting for md, Boxing Day, even January haha for anything that I might be interested in.

I like Black Cherry but do not need it in any of the items featured in bottoms. Now that I see more pics of the Capri Swiftly: that's a dead ringer for the Kayak Blue version (which I have). Nice try LLL, calling it a new colour and selling as new stock.

As for the comments on the model's stance: I agree with you LLA that these do look odd and look photo shopped. I am not being critical of one's body type, if anyone is in fact that way. But this is LLL and I would put nothing past them. It also seems to me that they have thinned out certain models' thighs.

I find it interesting that people are jumping on ebates and now Apple Pay to get a gift card. This is so too little, too late from LLL, imho. When they had loyal customers they did nothing. And now.... I'm not drawn in by any of these ways trying to hook the customer. There are a few things I want but I will not rush to buy. I'll happily wait for markdown or do without because FOMO for me ended a loooong time ago. I have plenty of gear to rotate through (even after I culled through it all and sold quite a bit locally).

I just looked up the items I was buying last year at this time and they were - for me - SO much better. Toasty tech tights, rebel runners, fleecy keen jackets. I'm dying for more serious cold weather/tech items, not generic looking puffers and repetitive colors/prints. Just my opinion.

I got the black cherry aligns in store today. They are gorgeous. All these abstract black/white prints are hideous... can't they think up anything better? The turtle neck sweater could be a little longer imo... maybe a longer back even would've looked good.

I think that model is just bowlegged. She can't help it, but it is distracting. Kind of an odd choice for a pants model.

Anonymous said...

Everybody is bowlegged, must be a serious Vitamin C deficiency in Lululand lately...

Anonymous said...

She's bow legged which is perfectly normal.

LuluAddict said...

It's not like they haven't had some terrible photoshopping on the website. And sure, bow legs do occur - isn't it something that you should have corrected so you don't suffer complications as you age? - but are they normal for a model, to the extent it distracts from the clothes? And as for not criticizing models for how they look, come on. They are paid for how they look, it's part of the job. Perhaps the stylist can work on posing her better. My complaining about the models lululemon uses and how they pose them is nothing new. If Athleta does one thing right, it has good models - they have boobs *and* muscles. I recognized a woman from American Ninja Warriors in a recent catalog.

ho hum . . . LLL had an upload and no one noticed . . . zzzzzzz . . . boring. . . tried on the black cherry yogi racerback in the store; color is great, but like LLA, I love the pocket, and the fabric is thin.

@5:12 PM It sounds like you felt very attacked when people responded to you saying that word. The reason you heard about it was because it's really not Ok to use retarded as a synonym for bad. Think empathetically about how it might feel to someone else when you use a word characterizing such a core part of their identity as another way to say bad or ugly.

Anonymous said...

LuluAddict, I'm sorry but your 7:53 comment is ridiculous, and I'm sure there will be a bunch of your followers on here sticking up for you and who feel the same as you do but I stand by what I say that it's completely ridiculous, all of it.

Anonymous said...

Ah, 5:12pm, I think you need to do a little soul-searching.

I honestly think it is bad photoshop. If you compare the two photos, the distance from her wrists to legs is significantly different, and her wrists look like they've been sliced too small. I didn't notice her legs...moreso the position of her hands on her hips that looks like they've been manipulated digitally. I say this as someone who has done a bunch of photoshop.

I actually really like this model and agree with anon 5:16, LLL has some of the prettiest models out there. I also like that they are all unique.

Nothing so exciting for me this week that I can't wait to see what comes out in the next few weeks.

Regarding the models, I applaud the use of models that aren't "perfect". We all have our things. I think the thing that is drawing so much attention is that their is some terrible photoshopping happening. For any bottoms item, each and every model has an unnatural upside "U" shaped crotch. Additionally, they have distorted the shape of the inner thighs, unevenly, which also draws your eye in that direction in a negative fashion. If you look at the additional product photos of these same models their legs do not look distorted. I think Lulu has taken pushing the thigh gap image a little too far since the website redesign.

Speaking of athleta, they have so many nice things there lately. Cozy karma hoodie, mmmmmm, it's like wearing a hug. And they have so many reflective details on their running items for no additional $$$.

Anonymous said...

Wow no ones saying you should be a completely pc, but you're either being ignorant or nasty.

I think I'll stay on lulumum's blog then. I don't come to these sites for negativity and body shaming!

Anonymous said...

I got the black cherry aligns in the store too today. But I just looked on the site and saw the align II's had horrendous reviews due to pilling. Not sure if I shld return or not. I love the color, but not if it's going to pill after wearing a few times.

Anonymous said...

It's not nasty, having legs that shape (either bow or knees in) is bad for the joints as a person ages.

Ditto to using models wiht muscles and boobs, especially when selling the bras which are supposed to support a "B/C" or "C/D" cup.

LuluAddict said...

The more I look the more I think there is a photoshop issue, particularly with the speed tight photo. The proportions just unnatural. Usually you don't have large outer thighs without the inner thighs also being large. There is nothing wrong with large thighs, I certainly have them and they're a feminine attribute, but I think the speed tight photo has been retouched in the inner thigh area.

LuluAddict said...

And I'm not body shaming, I'm shaming crappy photoshopping and terrible poses. Women with larger thighs and a booty are useful models. Crap photo shop with the inner thighs shaved down so they don't match the outer just make the photos look weird.

Anonymous said...

Im really glad you feel that way luluaddict and that the general consensus seems to be against 5.12pm insensitivity. I see where you're coming from with photo shop, I think alot of the time they're "smoothing out" camel toes, cause alot of their leggings when worn that tight definitely cause them even though lulu claims they don't

GratefulMama said...

All she said was that her stance looked wide!!! And it is! Even if the model has bow legs, she can still put her feet closer together. Right? I think LLL thought to show how the pants look straight on, so they had her stand with her feet wide apart, and it looks unnatural!

I really love the Black Cherry WUs and am contemplating ordering them. I prefer the luxtreme though, which often doesn't come in colors other than black or prints. (I have a big white dog whose hair CLINGS to the luon.)

Anonymous said...

OT - brushed WUs and HTs - can anyone speak to the fit of the bushed WUs and HTs? I'm inbetween sizes. I usually get my smaller size for luon bottoms but the brushed HTs feel a little snug. I'm guessing they will stretch out with wear, but if not maybe I should return for the size up. It's too expensive to order both at once .. And the fit at try on isn't necessarily the fit 2 hours later. Thanks!

Anin 901, I checked out Athleta's cozy karma hoodie online. Omg, this is what we need in the frozen North! Unfortunately, we don't have Athleta in Canada, so we can only drool.

@9:06 anon...Lulumum's upload post has almost an identical conversation thread about this same issue. Someone else pointed out potential photoshop on the legs and a lot of people on her blog agree. By and far Luluaddict stays away from bodyshaming and discourages/deletes comments who go that route. So everyone chillax.
