Upload!

There are a few cute things in this upload but most are so plain and generic that if it didn't have a lululemon logo on it, you'd never know it was from that company. It used to be I could tell at a glance if something was a piece of lululemon - by the print, color, fit, and detailing - but this stuff is just too generic. Costco workout clothes have more personality than this stuff.

Midnight Bloom WUCS finally showed up in the US. I wouldn't have minded the high waistband but I can live with the regular.

Deep Fuschia Free to Be Tranquil Bra. I am tempted by this but I am hoping an Energy Bra is coming in this color.

Essential Rhythm Pant

Essential Rhythm Crop

High Times Pant Rhythm. Cute but the mesh goes too high for my comfort zone.

Essential Rhythm Bra. Cute enough but pricey at $68.

Love Tee and Yogi Racerback in Modern Stripe.

 Diffusion Run Times

Diffusion and Sapphire Paisley Tracker Shorts

People are liking the new Ponte Trek Pants.

Wander Pant, made of some mysterious four-way stretch, sweat wicking material and priced high at $118.

City Bound LS - so blah. There is nothing special about this top. If it makes the model in blue look busty god knows what it will do for people who are busty.

New Get Low Mesh items. I ordered the black scoop tank since mesh is my Kryptonite but now that I am not looking at it on my phone it looks like it might be too sheer.

Sattva Sweater. Cute enough but I am not a merino fan.

Super plain Nonstop jacket. Nothing about this jacket says "lululemon" to me, which is a shame.

Rite Times Dress. This is just terrible.

Did you get anything today?

Update, I can't get over how bush league this new stuff is:

Contrast the mesh Get Low LS with the Mesh with Me LS from last year:

Mesh with Me LS

I'm sorry but all of this stuff makes the models look fat. The jackets and vests are awful. How is it supposed to ever look good on regular people if it looks this crappy on models.

Too pricey for blaaaahhhh clothing

Anonymous said...

I was mildly tempted by the city long sleeve or whatever it's called but it looks really short at the front and I'm not paying $94!

Anonymous said...

And what the frig is with the cuffs on the mesh get low LS!? Lol

Beth said...

Whoever designed the mesh get low LS completely missed the mark. It hangs so weird and looks so wrinkly. Blah.

Jess... I concur.... boring snoring... no thanks, good example of a top from last year that is actually really cute! The treck point pant looks super cute, (not insanely high waisted like its predecessor. I will call to find out what the content of the fabric is however, i do not purchase polyester I hate hate hate it, I prefer nylon. Its sad to me to see these drap tops and all these ugly mesh tights, so glad i have a sizeable collection from the glory days :)

There isn't even a slight temptation this upload....

Finally, other companies that supply to Winners and Marchalls, make it to the quality of lulu! Nannette Lepore floral pants are a total replica of high rise WUP and the fabric is like seven wonders HT. The waist was a different pattern (computer engineered?) and THE PRICE WAS 35 CANADIAN DOLLARS.... In addition, I bought super soft loose tanks in technical fabric and gold, white, or grey stencil designs and quotes from a company called Glyde- paid 20 Canadian each..... I refuse to pay for a label.... Unfortunately, when it comes to certain items from lulu, that's what we are paying for....

I'm about as big a Lulu fan girl as you can get but damn if they aren't making it hard to continue being one. Their aesthetic has changed so drastically. Between that and the upward pricing and declining quality, I just can't bring myself to buy much of anything. Nothing appeals, none of it inspires. It's all so drab and non-descript and just plain old boring.

Anonymous said...

I agree. It's horrible how the stuff looks so plain. I too used to love the creativity of LL attire, and now don't feel like wasting so much money on items I can buy from Target.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Jessica! I was going to say all those baggy, boxy tops add at least 10 pounds. I definitely don't need anything from this new potato sack line.

Anonymous said...

Nothing for me. Nothing grabs me.

Can't figure out why the CRB II is not coming in greyvy or emperor blue. Why sapphire blue which is an old color?

Anonymous said...

Nothing this time. I'm usually excited about lulu dresses, but this one is beyond plain. My wallet needs a break, I don't mind boring upload

Bush league is right! I can't get over how plain and generic this stuff looks. Why in the world would I spend (more of) my money on this? You're right that you used to be able to spot Lulu from a mile away and now it just looks like it's all from a really depressed GapBody.

Ah, the beauty of differing opinions. I loved this upload! I tried on the City Bound LS at an event my local store had last night (a "fall look book" of sorts. Have to admit the event itself was just meh. Included a cheesy fashion show) But anyway, didn't realize the top was made of rulu. So comfy and soft, surprisingly flattering. I'm to try out the Ponte Trek Pants. I hope my store gets them.

Anonymous said...

I love the high times rhythm pant, but I'm sure someone will clutch their pearls and honk about how mesh means I'm putting myself on display for men and/or look like a slut.

Anonymous said...

am in love with the essential rhythm pant & the high times pant rhythm! just not the price :(

Went to a Lulu store fashion event tonight. No videos. Just snacks & the "chance to shop" as if that isn't present daily. The store actually had less women's inventory than usual & more men's. There was nothing in the store that I hadn't seen a photo of on your blog. The manager said studio pants, old school CRBs, & flow Ys would all be on line onlys & the power Ys would likely be on line only soon.
She said bright colors would go away in favor of dark & muted colors & patterns which was basically what the store was featuring. They also had tons of Swiftlys, more stock than I've ever seen. Probably not selling. The new Rulu tops look hideous.
This is the news to me:
Lulu's new look is inspired by Dior. They are aiming for a haute couture work out look. Obviously, the Dior thing is Potdevin's vision, but it is so wrong for Lulu. The couture thing explains all the mesh & the straps & even the plain oversized tops. I have no interest in couture workout clothes, but if I did, why would I want them designed by a Nike dude??
A few months ago, I suspected that Potdevin & his team don't really believe women actually workout in Lulu clothes. I really believe it now.
Lulu is moving from leading to following the trend of all these start up, fashiony high end workout lines, but with less quality.
Real, functional clothes that work for real woman. Not so much. Like many, I have plenty of good Lulu, I'll stick with that.

Anonymous said...

Did you notice that they pulled a ton of items off of WMTM today? The same number of items are showing, but they removed full color categories (ex 2/3 of the all the right places) that were full stock in all sizes just hours earlier. What's up with that?

LuluAddict said...

OMG Yogarazzi - the tent tops are not some place holder? FOAD with that junk. I hope that isn't true. And they are inspired by Dior. Bwahahahaha, you're drunk, lulu. I'm looking at the Dior winter collection now and wishing I was a billionaire. Dior is beautiful. Old lululemon was beautiful - beautiful cut, beautiful details, beautiful fit, awesome function. This is androgynous, made-to-be-manufactured cheap crap. It in no way resembles Dior.

Look at this beautiful Dior dress: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/QMgmfX0-HQa/Christian+Dior+Runway+Paris+Fashion+Week+Womenswear/8lcVPKvrqot

I'd be ecstatic if they were truly inspired by Dior.

@ anon 8:16 pm - check back again tomorrow. I think the upload effs up other parts of the website a lot of the time.

Great - more expensive, oversized bags that probably won't even flatter pregnant women.

I got genuinely angry when I saw the second pair of speed tight ivs in a row uploaded with mesh way up high on the back of the leg. These are my staple fall tights! Stop messing with them! Mesh isn't innovation, nor is it "design". UGH.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Dior and this new lulu look have nothing in common with one another. I know that, and I'm a t-shirt and jeans gal. Drunk is right, LLA.

I'd kill for them to rerelease the Mesh with Me LS, in black no less. I bought it last year and returned it in an "effort to be good." What a fool I was! The contrast between that and this year's mesh top offerings is legit incredible.

Anonymous said...

I am not at all interested in couture (and everything that goes along with it), even if I was a multi billionaire, I just don't have any interest in it at all. So I am really sad to hear this news that Lulu is trying to copy this kind of thing into their designs. What a turnoff. I have money to spend at Lululemon, but I'm not going to spend it on this kind of stuff. I used to spend (ashamed to admit) enough money some months at Lulu that would easily equal someone's monthly car payment or rent or mortgage payment. I've already purposefully cut back, of course it is easy with designs like we've been getting, but I don't spend anywhere near as much on the things I do still love (very few things I love left anyway, but I still really love Swiftly tops) simply because I'm not a complete idiot who spends money when I know it's not truly worth the price tag (I don't feel any need to pay for a label and at this point that is all we're paying for), plus I don't like supporting this company's stupidity. Sorry for ranting but this whole thing with Lululemon these days is starting to get to me... I am disappointed and sad to be losing something I loved...

Thanks so much for sharing, Yogarazzi, and I agree with your thoughts on all this.

7:50 you made me laugh!
Nothing for me tonight but I do want to try on the Trek trousers. I have a couple other trouser styles that are my go to for work; the fabric is great especially when travelling.
Also I still need to try on the CRB II and see for myself what I think..Canada got some nice colors (fuschia and a gray) that look nice.

This company has managed to change me from a "want" customer to a "need" customer in a very short time. Thank You Lululemon because I needed my LLL shopping habit brought back to reality. I no longer buy because I want it, I have to need it. There is absolutely nothing in this drop I need and it's easy to say there is nothing I want. I have been saying this for a while now that a lot of their product does not look like LLL anymore, it is really truly sad. The Non Stop Jacket is a joke, no detail whatsoever and why another boring swift unlined jacket at this time of year when we just had the Belle Jacket which is now on WMTM. LLA your comparison of the Get Low LS Mesh to last years Mesh With Me is a perfect example of how their fashion direction has veered way off LLL course. Also we Canadians did not get the gorgeous Mesh With Me l/s and I remember lusting after the sapphire one.

If these boring, unflattering designs are Mr. Potdevin's vision for the Company than I 100% agree with Chip Wilson.

@yogarazzi your ed totally echo'ed what my ed told me a few weeks ago, while it's good to have it confirmed it makes me sad :( she did tell me she thought they were looking for a more "sophisticated" look since most people buying the clothes wear them for "athleisure". I asked her why they bother even having the different fabrics, then? Why not make everything out of luon? It's so dumb to think we're all just going there to drop $100's on lounge pants. I think anything with a "sporty" look will start to disappear, as we've seen, and the patterns will too. My ed told me just about all of the winter prints are black/white and most of them are variations of houndstooth.
Don't get me wrong, I love a sophisticated look but not when I go to THE GYM. Plus you have to laugh that they think the mesh is "high fashion" in some way, right? I saw the two trashiest girls at lulu the last time I was there trying on those hideous rush hour crops telling each other how "hot" they looked and how they were so "classy" because their butts were covered. yep, that kinda sums up all of the new stuff for me.

Anonymous said...

LOL, inspired by Dior - maybe the price tags! Whoever designed these pieces has never seen a well-made or flattering piece of clothing in their life, much less something on the level of Dior.

Anonymous said...

Inspired by Dior? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! This crap doesn't even come close. Seriously can't stop laughing. Bring back our old Lulu and quit horsing around. This is ridiculous.

@ anon 7:01 am - "I am disappointed and sad to be losing something I loved" - you echo my feelings exactly.

So with you, anon @ 11:06 PM. I want more Speed Tights, but not with mesh. If I was going to overheat, why wouldn't I just wear crops or shorts? Makes no sense to me.

LOL, anon @ 7:54 AM. Too true.

Don't despair, LLA. Potdevin, too, shall pass. Just a shame that this supposedly hot new design team look like they're going to blow goats. All black and white prints? Houndstooth? Sigh. Hopefully, things will turn around in a few years when all these jokers are gone.

Anonymous said...

Oh no!!! I hope these are just rumors!!! Power Y's and Flow Y's have to stay. There's nothing wrong with them, they are perfect ! That's all I wear for my workouts, either power y or 105 Singlet (scalloped edge!!) and Flow Y on my bloated days. PLEASE LULU DO NOT GET RID OF POWER Y AND FLOW Y!!!

Anonymous said...

I wish they would add back some color, especially colored prints. There are only two colored options for the speed shorts. Everything else is a b/w print. I think White House Black Market has more colors. Also, is it just me or are they trying to market items that have been out for months as new? The solid black l/s swiftly is NOT new, nor is the black sculpt tank or the mini splatter white/black speeds. I've noticed this trend in several uploads lately.

GratefulMama said...

Lmao. Who cares? At least you'll be a high-end slut ;-)

I've been complaining about the Speed tights on these blogs since they first got rolled out with mesh, and I think it's just insane that we are approaching October and they can't even roll out a version without mesh for fall/winter. Speed tights are absolutely a core item for me and I wear them several times a week. I don't have a need for mesh, especially with the frequency that I wear them - just one more potential area for the fabric to fail. Looks like I'll be babying the pairs I do have and will be hoarding from eBay and the selling sites. Boo, LLL - get your sh!t together!

Anonymous said...

This time of the year and we are not seeing any new Vinyasa Scarf colors/patterns. Maybe they are going to discontinue this staple item as well. Oh well, luckily I have a nice selection of Vinyasas already and don't need any new ones.

Anonymous said...

Lululemon has totally lost my business. I would purchase 1-2 items every week until the last few months. Dottie Tribes were the last purchase I made. Since then I've been forced to look for other companies to purchase from... And there is actually a lot of other high end athletic apparel out there if you look for it. LLA could you possibly start doing blogs about other companies cause I think the lulu ship is sinking.

Anonymous said...

The City Bound LS is not soft at all. I was surprised that it was even called rulu light. It is certainly nothing like the softness of Tuck & Flows of the past...

Anonymous said...

All these comments are too funny, it's nice to see we still have a sense of humour after looking at this drop. Anon 11:06pm Maybe you should say Stop MESHING with them!

I think my purchases are going to continue being few and far between based on what I am seeing these days.

Anon 8:07pm was it hard to keep a straight face while the Ed was talking haute couture? Unless there are some knock your socks off designs heading our way soon LLA is right, these guys must be drunk. I don't know if I would be too anxious to put any of this stuff in their new location in a high-end hotel in Paris or London, I can't remember which one but it was mentioned in their 2nd qtr report.

I tried on the City Bound LS and it was horrible on me! I am busty (36DD), and while it didn't accentuate my boobs, it's literally shaped like a circus tent and was just awful. I think MAYBE someone rail-thin could get away with it. I was hoping it would be similar to the older Tuck & Flow LS, but it's not.

Haute Couture or HAUTE MESS!

I went to my store's fall preview party last night. Fairly underwhelming, but 15% off the entire store, so I picked up a couple of basics that never go on sale (white power y, for example). Hated the most recent upload. Tried on the city shirt--it's even more awful in real life. The city trek pants are nice and I grabbed a pair in black. Fit nicely and flattering. The mesh is awful this baggy, ill-fitting crap is awful. What in the world are they thinking?!

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 12:00 pm - Tell me whose stuff to look at and I'll order as long as it's free returns : ) . The problem I run into is that a lot of truly high end stuff often ends at a large, which turns out to be a small 10 and I need size 12 stuff these days. I did order some Stella McCartney and tried another piece of Outdoor Voices again so I have those read to write about right now.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 12:00 pm - I also hate when a lot of companies use polyester. I did look at Sweaty Betty last week, which was running free shipping, but found nothing appealing to order. That is when I ordered the Stella and OV items. Someone mentioned Tory Burch and they have some cute, very preppy looking stuff that would be nice for golf. I'll have to order since they offer free shipping and go up to XL.

I like the looks of the High Times Pant Rhythm, if I wanted to just lounge around and look cute, but it's not practical for the type of high intensity workouts I do. Although I love plums and blues, I'm finding myself bored when I look at the releases. Nothing grabs me anymore, which is what I miss from old Lulu. The baggy, swing style tops are not flattering on me and they're also not practical for working out. If they had not messed with the styling on the Tracker shorts, I would be buying up some of them, but the fit has really been altered, and I find myself just wearing my old Tracker II's over and over. Also, some of this stuff feels like it's been released in the past? I don't know, maybe I'm just getting confused bc some of the colors all are very similar to colors from the past.

Anonymous said...

I occasionally order from Glyder (absolutely love their Space Dyes in the Mantra crop and Elongate legging) but they don't have free shipping or returns, which is a turnoff. Athleta is a hit or miss with me, but I've found their return policy to be far exceeding what any other place has, bc they will take back stuff that has been worn. Athleta shorts don't fit me as flattering as Lululemon, but I do like their Chat tights and a few of their tops. They also run excellent sales, so I've never paid full price for anything I've bought there, AND, you can return the sale stuff too. Win, win! I've actually branched out and started going to stores like Nike, which has some interesting pieces that are actually designed for an athlete, and not for just lounging around.

Good description LLA, "Costco workout clothes have more personality than this stuff."

I didn't read all the comments but OK, inspired by or think they can roll like Dior? That is laughable and hilarious.

LLL has gradually lost my business over the past few years. It started with run bottoms and deteriorated quality and/or ugly design, patterns. My spending curbed dramatically as I used to buy bottoms, tops of all kinds (and of course CRB person, bought those frequently), bras, shorts, jackets. The last year to two years was even more limited as to what I bought and I definitely had a lot of patience for wmtm and often waited.

They are not going to reverse this direction. I'm OK if they want to continue with the $hit quality and "design" (there is absolutely no innovation), and exorbitant prices. I'm not a pod and won't continue to buy just because of the logo. I will likely buy almost nothing now and pay less and less attention to their offerings.

Someone mentioned Glyder clothing. I was only recently introduced to this brand via Marshalls. I got their Performa Tank in a heathered black raspberry and I love it. It is a dead ringer for the CRB1 with the exceptions of a bit shorter length (maybe an inch or so) and a bit higher neckline. It is soft. I wore it for a run and found it very comfortable. It didn't even sag with how sweaty I was. Washed it before an after, no issues. I would definitely buy more of these. I'm in Canada though, so not sure on the exchange/shipping and all that yet. I have looked a the website and there are a number of appealing items. I read some reviews and seems like a lot of their crops and bottoms get high ratings for being opaque. I'll also be keeping my eyes peeled at Marshalls and Winners.

The fabric combo of the tank I bought is 46% nylon 46% polyester 8% spandex. I got an XS and I wear a size 4 CRB.

@LLA i would LOVE a tory burch and stella mccartney adidas product review! Most high end brands aren't available in stores where I live, so I can't feel the fabrics- that's why I've been so loyal to lululemon. I made the mistake of trusting a friend who raved about victoria's secret long sleeve tops from their athletic line last winter. I ordered two on sale (no returns) and every time I wear them my pits sweat like no tomorrow- I have no idea what that fabric content is but it's bizarre. Things like that just drive me insane, you don't have those considerations with lululemon, would love to find another brand with excellent fabric.

@ aon 4:26 pm - I have two paris of Athelta Sonar crops which I really like, especially the tropical print ones that came out this summer. I have a ton of their swim wear and a couple of tops. Sonar crops work the best for me and everything else is hit or miss.

@ anon 4:01 pm - I was tempted by the Deep Fuschia CRB II today but I already own Regal Plum and Tender Violet CRB 1's at home. My mind's eyeball says Deep Fuschia has to be very close to Regal Plum.

Anonymous said...

I also think the new Deep Fuschia is very similar to Regal Plum - too similar to justify purchasing another tank.

Anonymous said...

For bottoms, I'm liking Lorna Jane these days. Free shipping over $100. I wear 4-6 bottoms in Lulu & medium in LJ. Haven't really tried out their tops & jackets yet.

I agree Athleta has the best return policy. There seems to be a big discrepancy between what is offered on line & what is in the stores. Many things look batter in the catalog/on line than they do in person. Athleta also has really great sales. There sports bras/tanks have always seemed ill fitting & uncomfortable to me. Their chats are too thin. The revelation tights I like. Their swim wear rocks. I thought their dresses & sweaters rocked too, but I am finding they don't hold up for more than a season or two.

Under Armor seems too young for me, but they clearly focus on performance wear. At least UA believes women actually work out in their clothes.

Anonymous said...

Ummm, the Wunder Under Dottie tribes are under the WMTM section but no sizes. Also, they added a bunch of brand new (last upload) to the WMTM...what's going on with their site? & all the brand new colors of the Rise & Run bra are now gone. No way they sold out of all sizes over night?

I was lucky to snag a couple of tuck and flow LS on the Australian website on sale. Trying to get the last of the lululemon of old ! This new lulu is giving me anxiety attacks haha
