I've become a fan of the Salute the Sun Singlet II and now own three of them. I decided to give the new Hotwave Tank a try since it come in pretty Tofino Teal. It's also an airy light tank made of Seriously Light Luon but the shape is a little different - it's a little shorter, particularly in the front, the armpits seem to be a little higher, the scoop neck is a bit higher, and the hem is straight in the front instead of curved like the Salute the Sun. I haven't worn the Hotwave yet but I can't imagine it's much different than the Salute the Sun.
Update - I wore the Hotwave for a 4 mile run this morning and really liked it. The higher neckline is nice since it stays in place, unlike the Salute the Sun which tends to move lower and expose too much of my bra. I'm going to think about getting another one.

Hotwave on top of a Salute the Sun Singlet II - overall, pretty similar. |

I got the teal hotwave tank because the color is gorgeous and I also love the salute the sun even though the slit gaps on me. I haven't tried on the HW cause I was super sweaty from moving but if the armpit is higher I suspect I'll love it.
i didn't like the hot wave tank one bit because the material quality seem extremely poor.
i got the heathered yum yum pink to try on and it seems like the tank has already gone through several washes and the material looks like it's pilling.
brand new material should not look like the 105 singlet that i've owned for years...
The new Hotwave and Salute the Sun tops have polyester mixed in with them. That is why all the colors are heathered now. I also prefer the solid, all nylon, colors like in the old 105Fs, too, but this is what they're giving us. I wash all my seriously light luon tops in a mesh lingerie bag just to save wear and tear on them and keep them nice looking. I have a bunch of old 105Fs I got on markdown that I use for around the house or as sleepwear and it's surprisingly how durable they are for how delicate they feel.

I Love The salute the sun but that whole is so big on my back :(
Did you size up to avoid it?
Maybe it's my body...
I much prefer the Hotwave tank over the Salute The Sun. The slip gapes funny on both my sizes on the Salute The Sun tank. I like the bit shorter length of the Hotwave tank too. I don't like when tops cover the whole back of my shorts making me look like i'm not wearing anything :P Regardless, I left in store. Could not swallow the price for what is in effect a very basic tank with a hefty price tag.
If it goes to MD - maybe.
Thanks! I just ordered the hot wave to try.
@Juliana - I don't size up, I think most people have been sizing down, but I do have to play with it so the slit lays flat. That usually means tugging the front lower. If you're more pear shaped, I think that is why you have problems with the Salute the Sun. I know that is my issue.
@anon 8:06am - I wore it to run in this morning and really liked it. Unlike the Salute the Sun the tank didn't creep lower and stayed nicely in place. I don't understand why it's $4 more than the Salute the Sun.
I'm fairly petite and definitely NOT pear shaped. It gapes weird on me too. I thought it was the tag or the sensor at first. Nope. Had to pass.
From what I've gathered at my local store, if you have more broad shoulders it tends to gap. One of the girls is built like a linebacker like me and we both have the problem. Size doesn't fix it. It bugged me but I love the tank so much I just live with it
I'm petite, with narrow shoulders and hips, and the Salute the Sun still gaps on me too! Much happier with the hotwave
I love this tank. It's just very flattering and not too long. Maybe the $4 difference is because the hotwave has silverescent and salute the sun doesn't? I actually like the fit better than the 105f singlet. You seem really knowledgeable about the material and it's a shame that Lulu is cutting corners, but for what it's worth, I've washed mine about 3-4 times now and it looks fine.
