Comments on the New Website Look & The Mobile App Now Has Store Availability Feature

Landing Page
My desktop finally switched over to the new site. I'm not sure how I feel about it. My initial impression is that I have to do a lot more clicking to see everything now.

The Drop Down menu for women.

What's New is rather unorganized, but it was before, too.

Tank choices.

Hovering on the Hotwave Tank shows a real person and the color choices.

Clicking gets to more details.

Scrolling down gives a big photo and more info.

Scrolling down farther gives you some suggestions. I would think you'd put some coordinating run crops in this area, too.

At the bottom of the page are the reviews. I love it if the text was made a bit darker.

In the interest of research ;-)  I purchased a headband.

It all went very smoothly.

In other news, the Hey, Lululemon site is shutting down. I am not surprised. I never visited except to check out What We Love for the coming week. It often got tons of spam comments that were not quickly cleared out.

In other good news, you can now check store availability in the mobile app.

What do you think of the new site?

Don't like it. Prefer to see models in the apparel, and do not appreciate the extra clicks to learn more about the item. Have actually stopped browsing the site because I dislike the new version so much.

I like the text on the new site however I HATE the pictures without the models. They finally got better poses from the models and then changed. So dumb. My favourite site is when I see a model wearing the item in action and when you click on the product, you get shots of the product in various poses and angles.

I absolutely HATE the new version of the website. It really takes to long to see anything and then the pictures are so big you can't see any of the printed content at the same time. If I just went by the empty image shown I would never click on anything as the product is not displayed well. I would like to see store availability, though. Should have that on the desktop version not just mobile.

Store avail is not avail on the android app

Hate it. Like you said, way too much clicking navigating through the site.

Likes: Easy to navigate, less buggy, more professional, more responsive, easier to find things.
Dislikes: Looks generic

Good outweighs the bad in my opinion.

Like! I prefer not seeing the models first. I sometimes think it's distracting, but it is nice to have the option to see how it is worn. If I remember correctly, Anthropologie went the opposite direction and whether it is this change or a change in their styles, I don't shop there as often as I used to.

I don't mind it; it has a fresh look. It is an extra click or too but that's ok with me. I like seeing the first photo as a plain front shot; this is what people have always said they wanted; a straight on front view. I like that you can see a few different views at once when you go into the item page.

Very old school; way back they had photos without models. I think change always hard and then people adjust.

As for losing Hey LLL, I won't miss it at all. The only thing I ever cared about was the new spoilers.

I have yet to even see the new website in person on any of my computers but from what I see here it looks to be more modern. I hated the model poses and just want to see the top and then show me what it looks like on so it looks like this is what is happening. Regardless of whether I love it or hate it i'll get used to it.

I just wish they'd put more thought into design and making non-sheer pants and going back to releasing cohesive stuff where I could buy an entire outfit or 2 or 3 by purchasing 5 coordinating pieces in one upload. Now I buy a bottom and have to wait 2 or 3 more uploads before I see a solid coordinating top to go with. By then i've returned the bottoms because i've fallen out of love waiting.

felt like i was scrolling...a LOT. But it is a really pretty site :) I LOVE that I can check out what my store has before I go there now, here in the wasteland of the midwest my store is an hour away and there were a few times I would trek up there to try something on and they wouldn't have it.
Kind of sad Hey lululemon is retiring, are they going to put up some other way for us to give them feedback or we just do it in store now? I just had an ED on the website refer me to heylululemon the other day when I was asking about product.

I'm not a fan. Maybe I'm used to the old site and the new one will grow on me.

I don't have the new version. Why?

Anonymous said...

My google browser has not changed yet, but I can see the new format on Microsoft Edge. This is probably a good thing. I don't feel like buying as much on the new format.

How do you get What We Love now?

I especially like how the model's height and size she's wearing are included.

I hate the new site. I feel totally alienated by it. The disembodied clothes are tacky and make all the clothes look dreadful and deformed. I also hate how small the pictures on the main pages are. I have to click every single product to see it properly. Frankly, I'm not going to bother. I'm unhappy about heylululemon being discontinued and with the killing off of so many favorite products, I'm just not feeling the Lulu love.

I'm done with the company. Maybe someday they'll get a new CEO and a new attitude, but right now, I'm hating every decision they make and it seems like they have less and less interest in making customers happy. I'm just sick of it and I've had enough.

Just looked it over..It's OK does have a more professional feel, would definitely hope that they would add store availability to the desk top version. As for the Hey Lululemon site..I can't say that I am surprised..that site was frustrating especially with the constant spam that was never removed in a timely manner. Also it just wasn't organized well in my opinion. I just wonder now where they will want their R&D and Ambassador Feedback to go, maybe they'll just rely on the feedback section of each item..probably makes more sense.

Still no changes to website here!

I'm in Canada and the app and web page won't give me the option to check store availability? Too bad!!

Anonymous said...

I still do not see the new site on my mac using Safari. Why can everyone else see it?

Change is always a bit touchy. I'll reserve judgement for a few weeks until I get used to it.

I like the new website, the bigger pictures are great. I don't mind the extra clicks either.

Anonymous said...

I don't really like the new site because it is so much more time consuming. I actually don't mind the first view of an item being just the item on it's own without a model, I actually think I prefer it that way, the only thing I miss about this is being able to hover over it and then see the back view, as long as there are other views showing different poses with a model I don't have any problems with this. I really don't like how it doesn't show the colour name when you hover over the colour choices though and as mentioned, how much more time consuming getting around the site is now.

Unknown said...

With heylulu gone does that mean we will not get to see 'What We Love' spoilers? That would be disappointing.

Anonymous said...

Hate it to the point I haven't been going on!

Anonymous said...

The site filters don't seem to be functioning fully yet. When I go to Tops > Sports Bras...it shows 5 bras. It seems like they're still working on the site...not sure why they would have sent a half-done site to production.

I don't like the new site. The clothes without actual models wearing them mean nothing to me, and that page looks cheap. Why do you think I'm always on this blog? Because I can see the items displayed on everyday people, in their everyday environment, doing things I would be doing wearing the same things (ok, maybe not everything..). The extra clicking involved is also frustrating, as others have stated it. You know the saying: if it ain't broke...

c w said...

wait, what?!
i didn't even know heylululemon existed!
maybe the main site will absorb it? because the blog gets updated only a few times a year.

Hate the clothes without models. It's a major turn off for me and an end to browsing. I'll probably just go in for things I know I want now rather than browsing as well. Model heights (once you get there) and store availability are nice features though.

I don't find the new site aesthetically pleasing at all. I would prefer being able to see the available colours without hovering my mouse over the items, and see the size availability without the drop down menu. It's also way harder to differentiate the tanks at a glance when a model isn't wearing them. Any idea if this will be implemented for the UK/AUS/HK sites soon?

As of today, Tuesday, the old site is showing on my computer. Earlier in the week it was showing the new site. Did they switch it back because of upload night and glitches that have been reported? (As I have read here.)

I like that you can see stock availability (and they have been great if you call a store) and agree that should be available on desktop too, not just an app. And if it is not available on Android, it should be. Hello, Android phones outnumber iPhone now.

Overall, I don't really care for the new site. Too much scrolling and clicking. Do not like how you have to drop down on sizes in the desktop, I like seeing all the available sizes right there (like they have kept it in the app). Like the prior photo set-up better. Main photo, hover over others and see the alternate views. Click on it and those photos enlarge. It was simple and effective. Main page, agree I liked when you could see the one angle and hover, see the alternate angle. They are still showing models in the photos when you click, I don't really care if the first shot is just the clothing article. I understand the psychology behind it. On the desktop I don't like how it is now a colour dot. Before when you hovered over the square/rectangle of the colour, it told you the colour name. When I was on earlier in the week it just said "cool racerback" everytime I clicked on a dot. (Maybe they were still working on it.) At least the colour rectangle itself gave you an idea of the colours or patterns available, the dot does not.

Too much clicking for description of item, too.

One thing I am glad they did get rid of is the "action" shots of the models jumping around or pulling at their shirts and not actually featuring the clothes. Those were ridiculous. I also can't stand when they have props in the photos like the model holding a yoga mat. Not necessary and also not necessary to use said prop to obscure the clothing.

I agree that they should have more real life workout photos like Nike does. They should not necessarily do that in the photos for the article for sale section, but they should have a montage or look book type section. One could page through that separately and see the clothing combos and strong and fit ladies in various shapes and sizes working out. Not holding a latte or phone or doing an arm or hamstring stretch, right?

As for heylululemon: no loss there. Barely went on it and feel it was just a way to distract people. Fine for surveys/votes of bring back this or that product, sure. However, I hated when you would read a regular customer product review with comments/suggestions/upset about quality, then the GEC would leave a comment saying go tell it on heylululemon. Really, spend more time when the feedback was already given?

A site I like: hemm.ca
A site I do not care for: Kit and Ace. However, I just pulled it up and have to admit they have improved it. Now I would say that I probably prefer the new Kit and Ace (once you go into a product), over the new LLL site. I still do not like K&A landing page for a all products or the product category.

I'm all for LLL modernizing their site but I think they had a lot of stuff spot on. They need to freshen it a bit, not overhaul it and ruin the experience or frustrate the experience and lose the sale.

The late Steve Jobs, whatever you think of him, was right when he said the customer should be able to get to something in as few clicks as possible and the presentation should be clean, seamless.

They said Heylululemon will be replaced with social media, which is what most companies are doing now anyway.

The new site is a lot to adjust to after using the same basic layout for years and years. As long as they left all the weird glitches behind with the old site, I'll be happy with the new one!

Love the long awaited store availability feature. With store quantities! I am not convinced that it will be terribly accurate, but time will tell.

I've been trying to figure it out and finally came to the conclusion that we probably didn't get it, so thanks for the heads up. Good to know I'm not just cell phone/tablet illiterate. Hope we get it soon!!!

I think it's funny so many say they like the model height and size feature when it doesn't really make a difference to know this anyway... the models are all approximately the same height (all are tall at around 5'9"-5"10"/11") and all wear a size 6 in everything, which seems to be how it is with most fashion models (all are tall and wear the same sizes to make it easier for fitting (all can fit into same sizes) at photo shoots.

Anonymous said...

I like the first view of the items showing it without a model, I just wish it would show a straight view of the back without a model as well when you hover over the image. Having said that, I would definitely want to see a front, back, side, and various other views of the item being worn by a model once clicked on.

I find myself wanting to zoom in on the images though for a good detailed close up on most items, wish they'd add that feature.

there is just way too much clicking needed on the new site. this is mainly what is killing it for me.

Anonymous said...

Really can't believe the poor comments I've been reading about the new web site. Has the world become so jaded that a few extra clicks is leading people to not want to buy items? If you don't like the quality, fine. If price increases are making you turn away, that's fine too, shop else where. But to hear people actually admitting that because of a picture change, or an extra couple clicks, it's heartbreaking to learn what this world has become. I love my Lulu and the comfort it brings me while packing up all the personal item donations, money and Lululemon clothing I've just donated to the victims of the Fort Mac fires, there's a lot more to be upset about in this world. Change is always hard but this isn't something worth consuming your time. Focus on maybe donating Lulu items to these victims (we all have some to spare) and just take a deep breath and learn to accept that not everything will stay the same. Life will always go on, how you choose to move forward with it is up to you!

I like the new website. I don't really shop much at lulu anymore though, but I still look at what is new and come to this site to see what people are commenting on.

I hate the mobile version. The product and the color options don't fit on one screen, so I have to scroll down a bit, pick a color, scroll back up to see it. Fine when there are 2 or 3 colors. Not fine for things like the Swiftly Tech in 15 colors for short sleeve and 16 colors for long sleeve.

I strongly dislike how I cannot take in a lot of product pictures at once. It is much more time consuming and just annoying to the extent that I am on the site as little as possible (just to see what is new). The number of click's does matter! If a website is difficult to navigate and not fun to be on that is not good for business. I do not like the generic look of the site either. This is definitely a downgrade for Lululemon and no doubt traffic will slow down on the site. I know I will visit a lot less because it is so much more labour intensive!

I don't like the new website. I would rather see models wearing them in front picture.

Unknown said...

Hate it. It's incredibly cumbersome. I'm having to scroll, and scroll and scroll just to get product views whereas prior, I could quickly click, zoom & see. They took away the ability to zoom in to see fabric up close. All in all - it was taking so long, to see each individual product AND the pic's are so large (and hard to get a real feel for what it looks like), that I literally left the site and went to another online retailer to purchase new workout wear.

Anonymous said...

Hate! Not easy to navigate. I am still only able to see 4 of each item, do we somehow scroll to the side?. my computer is not acting up in any other way so I am inclined to believe it is the website.
I LOVE the product but right now i am so frustrated with not being able to see what I want.
Help!
