New limited edition run capsule called Lucent is coming next week. There are four pieces: Ice Queen Tights ($148), Lucent Jacket ($198), Lucent Tank ($98), and Lucent Short ($88). I like the looks of the tank and the jacket but the prices are prohibitive.
Lucent Ice Queen Tight
Lucent Jacket
Lucent Short

I would love this style with just reflective patches with no design. I'm definitely not a floral person, so these are an easy pass like the snakeskin. The style is amazing though; if I liked florals I'd have a hard time holding back on that jacket.
Another reflective line? The last one doesn't seem like it sold! I found a pair of the fully reflective crops (the $300 ones) that were a return to a store that I was visiting while out of town, I got them for $114. Even then I was hesitating! The GE said they aren't supposed to be marking them down. I bit the bullet since I knew I'd never find them again and regret not getting them...
I'm wondering what they did with all the leftover product from the last reflective line. Especially if it's not going to be marked down. This isn't nearly as reflective, and is only reflective from the sides which is kinda what a lot of their stuff is anyhow, will we find this on WMTM?
I'm kinda bummed that the store is out of town, they had some amazing markdowns! The GE said they were allowed to mark down up to 70% off. So, now armed with that knowledge, I have no idea what I will do with it. But I guess it's good to know.
Nope to this. And January or even February would've been more appropriate for release. It's gonna be 64 degrees F here today in the north woods. I'm in spring fever mode. Ran in shorts this morning...
The jacket looks nice, but none of it seems very reflective. Also, all the SE reflective stuff they released a few months ago is still lingering on the site. True, those prices were worse than these, but I don't think these are going to do all that well.
Hi LLA, do you have any more info of this new limited edition run capsule? Will it be available in Canada and any idea as to the fabric and other colours it will come in? I like the look of the jacket as well as the tank so I am very interested in checking this capsule out. Thanks.
The prices for Lulu are ridiculous! In fact, the prices for Ivivva are the equivalent of Lulu prices from just a couple of years ago. I don't know what the heck they are thinking when their designs have remained pretty stagnant and unexciting, and there is a lot more competition in the Athleisure and fitness market! Brands like Brookes and Oiselle are really stepping up their game. Not only that, but as the prices have gone up, the quality has taken a noticeable hit--unraveling seams, thinner fabrics, less fabric, etc., etc.
@ anon 4:23 am - I was thinking that, too, especially when I see Ice Queen tights, which are brushed luxtreme. I mean, it's March already.
@ anon 4:13 am - I saw a few pieces of the last reflective line hit the markdown racks in my area. I saw a pair of Speed Tights marked down to $148 in my size but that is still way too much for me. I'm not sure what they're going to do with it all. I almost assume we'll see it put on the website again next year.
@ anon 5:34 am - I think it's just going to be in black and it will show up in Canada. The tank is made of "nulu light" which seems a weird fabric to make a run tank out of. Nulu is the fabric in the Align pants. I would have thought the fabric was the same as used in the Sculpt tank.
I cannot for the life of me understand what they are doing at Lulu headquarters anymore. They typically release the "reflective" stuff in the fall which makes perfect sense then as there is less daylight to run/workout, etc. But now? We are headed into spring! The last thing I want are black workout pieces with some random reflective details. They have put a lot of the heavier wraps out lately too, again in dark winter/fall colors.
I don't love the floral, but I'm in the market for Ice Queens (my one pair is my most-loved) - wish these were out two months ago! That said, and ignoring the crazy prices (my reflective IQ were 118 or something), the jacket and tank remind me of old, old lulu.... I think the reflective print was tokyo joe???? the pieces were flattering, functional....... love them.
I honestly can't see any difference between these shorts and those Nike Tempo shorts. The design is EXACTLY the same. But you get to pay $60 more for these!
First, these pieces aren't very reflective. I have reflective shorts from either last year or the prior year and the entire front and a third of the back are reflective. I think they had a $10 mark-up from the regular-priced shorts. I'm also sure I bought them on markdown.
That said, I don't understand why they use all black with the reflective. It would be better to have a brighter color as the base. They need a color that is going to make a runner stand out, more than just black with a few reflective spots here and there. Why bother?
I guess that's just more money I'm saving. Thanks, Lulu.
I don't understand why so much stuff (this line and others) is only reflective on the sides. Give me a cool design on the back of that jacket, and it really might change my mind about the price. I saw a man running in a fully reflective jacket for the first time in person this winter, and I was blown away by how he glowed. It was awesome! I concur about the floral design and the snake skin, I'm not a fan of either, but prefer the snake skin. I have a pair of Ice Queen tights. They really aren't that warm, but it's way too late to be issuing them. I wouldn't pay $148 for them anyway.
I don't mind the little bit of the posy print on the jacket but I wish it came in a colour other than black as it would be nice to have a spring running jacket in a spring colour. I wonder if the back on the jacket is longer than the front? You wouldn't by chance have a back shot of that jacket? This jacket would have to meet all my requirements, not just reflective, for a good running jacket in order to pay $198. I am disappointed to hear that the tank is nulu light but I will still check it out.
was all for the tank (and anything that makes my summer dawn run safer w less bulk, ayay reflectivity!!!) until I read of the fabric detail... um WHAT GIVES?!!?
@anon 7:25am - I think Lululemon is at the same price point of other brands who are offering quality fitness apparel. Nike and Salomon are both at a similar price point for things like performance running pants and crops. Salomon's new elevate 3/4 tight is $90CAD.
I have been a loyal Lululemon customer for 6+ years. I have never ended up with a defective item, and I buy a LOT and use the items for sport, running and yoga. My biggest peeve is sheerness in bottoms, but I simply pass on the ones that are sheer and move on to something else.
Too much black, not enough reflectors. During dusk hours, reflectivity doesn't work and it is more important to wear bright or light colors. I know, not too fashionable, but safer.
@ anon 8:24 am - I agree! I think Potdevin is trying to save money by not airlifting product so they get to the stores in the proper season. I used to bash Christine Day but at least the great majority of product arrived in the correct season. So many delayed items. The ports strikes are long gone, there is no reason for this.
Good points about brighter colors standing out in dawn and dusk. There is nothing like dayglo orange to really capture my attention. Lululemon used to put reflective designs on their pieces long ago - look up Hills Crops and the Spirit hoodie. I have an ancient Sportif run jacket that is covered in a reflective polka dot pattern on the front and back. They didn't jack the price up $40 either.
@sharviss - the jacket is pretty. I'd have to really love it to pay $198, though. I do like the look of the tank (though not so sure about the material) and the jacket a lot but the prices are just killer.
I would love to try a top in nulu for indoor workouts. I think it's a better option for when its gets warmer than luon. I am not a fan of sculpt tank or any other looser tanks bc they get in the way with clean and presses/jerks, burpies, etc
the ice queen pants are really nice running tights for winter. I agree that there should be more color and patterns. Sweaty Betty had a pair of winter reflective run tights (thermodynamic) they just went on sale for $88 and I purchased 2 pairs. they are awesome. Why is lulu coming out with the winter gear now when it is amost 60 degrees F in the east coast of the US?
The prices are high but not much different than the high end Nike, Sweaty Betty etc.

cute looking, ridiculous pricing. I'm sure a few celebrities will buy and the rest goes to storage until next year.

The styling is a bit weird. It's mediaeval or something.

I'm understandably alone here because I know the price is ludicrous but that jacket will be mine!

I really like the shorts, but refuse to pay that much!
