New Brand Review: Outdoor Voices Catch Me If You Can Hoodie

Newcomer American activewear brand Outdoor Voices has been getting a lot of primo press lately so I decided to order a piece to check it out. I am not a fan of the seaming across the legs on the leggings and crops and the bras/bra tops didn't do much for me, but the looser fitting items like the Catch Me If You Can Hoodie, Running Woman Sweats, and the Racerback tank looked like they had a lot of couch-surfing cozy-comfy-yet-with-a-flattering-fit potential. The overall look of the brand is definitely casual, which is by design. A point of interest - part of their design team has a lululemon pedigree.

Though I am a big nylon snob when it comes to my activewear and all the OV stuff is polyester blend (they do have a cotton tank) I chose to be open minded and ordered the Catch Me If You Can Hoodie ($85) in Clearwater. Choosing a color was tough since OV has a lot of pretty heathered colors to choose from. The founder says she prefers heathers and textures because "it disguises imperfections" - music to my ears. Though a limited selection of OV is offered via J Crew and Bandier I decided to order from their website since they offer free shipping and returns.

Shipping came out of New York (yay for no sales tax!) and was packed up within a couple of hours of my order. It took three business days to get to me.

The Outdoor Voices OV logo is reflective and on the front kangaroo pocket.

These are the measurements for the size L.

The material is super soft and stretchy - very cozy. It feels a bit like a slicker rulu to me. I think it's more compressive than rulu so not as clingy and revealing of flaws. The weight and thickness is very similar to rulu, perhaps a touch thicker/heavier.  I thought the fit was a flattering TTS but if you want to layer more than a tank under it I'd size up. The seams are not flat seamed down the arm and sides but are everywhere else. It's a nice lightweight to/from piece for summer or a nice lounge piece for indoors. From just wearing it around my air conditioned living room, I'd say the warmth is probably on par with rulu or better. Reviews on the J. Crew site are very positive. It's too hot today for me to wear it but I plan on taking the tags off it as soon as I can. I'll update with how it wears and breathes but I like it. I am eyeing the sweatpants to get next.

Anyone else already try Outdoor Voices? How do you like and how is it wearing for you?
