Store Trip Report - Runbeam LS and Deep Camo vs. Fatigue, Dark Wren, and Wren

Deep Camo High Times vs. Fatigue Still Pants

I got my Deep Camo High Times pants yesterday. These pants are nice and thick, opaque, compressive, and made in Canada. I liked them a lot but most of my workout clothes are geared towards a blue/purple/black/gray palette. I've also been spending like a fiend and need to draw the line somewhere so they went back to the store today. I ordered the Black Cherry High Times at the same time as the Deep Camo and my store had them to try on. I really liked the Black Cherry, though I thought the Deep Camo a touch thicker, and am leaning towards keeping them since they go with the majority of my other lulu clothes and are a very different color. Anyhoo, I thought I would take some photos of the Deep Camo with Wren, Fatigue, and Dark Wren so you can see how they work together.

My store had the new Runbeam LS tops in. I thought I wanted the Split Pea Runbeam but the Slate one is very nice. It's totally opaque and the material feels a bit thicker than the Split Pea. The Split Pea (sorry, I thought I grabbed a photo of it but I didn't) is a bit see through so that is a big reason it stayed at the store. The other is I have a Sunny Lime Run in the Sun LS which is a similar see-through-ish color. The gray was really nice but I'd prefer a bright (and opaque) color, like the Power Purple Runbeam I already own. The new Runbeams fit the same as last year, a roomy TTS.

The third Runbeam color is the Yachtie White/Silver spoon stripe. This is a photo of the Scuplt tank in the same color.

lululemon free to be wild bra
My store (Fashion Island) had the new Vintage Pink Free to Be Wild bras in and up to a size 12 in this and white.  I am too busty for it (DD, I think it would work for a C) so it stayed at the store, too, but it was nice to try it on in the correct size. I would think the US website will be getting size 12s in these bras when they hit the upload.

I also got to try on the new Mesh With Me Tank. It's not bad at all but I think I would prefer another Stuff Your Bra tank to this one (the Mesh With Me isn't super supportive). I thought it fit TTS.

I love your color comparisons. Thanks for the fit report confirmation on this release of the runbeams. I'm not digging that slate grey. It's just blah...I too would rather have a bright color especially since I'd most likely use it during the day when it's sunny and hot outside for the UPF protection. The white might not be too bad, but bright fun colors are preferable. I'd kill to have the In the Sun LS with the ruffles on the bottom. Wish Lulu would include more feminine details like that. I remember finding a white In the Sun Ls at Brentwood 2 summers ago, and it seemed a fluke since that In the Sun LS was released a few seasons prior. It was a size 12, and at the time, it was too big on me. So sad. Else I would have bought it!

Thanks for the colour comparison pictures and the update on the Runbeam LS, and the pic of what Yachtie White/Silver spoon stripe looks like. I might want the Runbeam LS in that. My stance will be to wait for markdown though and if I don't get it, so be it.

I just returned a LS running top though (other running store) because I took stock of my tops and went: "it's a bit crazy, you have enough tops." And I just bought the Karma Collected Pant and the Feelin' Frosty Softshell Jacket after being good and waiting for markdown, and using a gift card for part of it.

Plus I want one of the new Easy Breath bras and the Vintage Pink FTBW.

That sculpt tank looks fab...when is that going to be available?!

White FTBW bra as in SGL Neutral Blush/Pow Pink?!?

I returned my deep camo High Times also. I thought they were just meh. Even though they are similar, I much prefer the color of Dark Wren to deep camo. Especially in person it leans more neutral and less army green than the deep camo. They had dark wren WUPs at the store today but I found them to be a touch sheer compared to the deep camo. Unfortunate.

Of course I couldn't return something and not get something it its place, so I got a Pack to Reality Backpack in the peach plum/atomic red stripe. OMG, the pics do not do it justice, it is so pretty in real life. It's the perfect springy pop of color.

The FTBW bras don’t work for me either! :( Thanks for the report on the Mesh with Me tank. I ordered a white one and a black one online, but maybe I’ll run over to the store tomorrow and see if they have any to try on. I try to avoid the stores when I can since it’s just irritating going in one.
I’m really loving my Stress Less hoodie. Wish it came in some better colors, but at least I got the peach one (can’t remember the proper name for the color). I am wearing it with my Dog Runner Pants right now (which are one of my favorite LLL purchases ever).

LLA - I'm a purple/blue/black person also and am debating about keeping the Black cherry high times (haven't received yet). Not sure if they will be different enough since I already have bordeaux drama, plum and deep zinfandel bottoms. Granted I don't have high times in any of those colors, but am unsure if I need yet another pair of pants in that color family.

anon @ 7:14pm:

I also have pants in all those colors you listed and Black Cherry is by far my favorite. I like it so much I am considering getting a second. It is definitely different enough. :)

This is a great comparison. Wren was out before my time but by the looks of your pics I'm liking deep camo the best.

Anyone have a try on report of the oil slick blue camo WUPs that are on WMTM? I'm kind of digging the funkiness of them but am wondering if they are sheer. Thanks.

I am returning the high time pants in black cherry. Even though they are opaque but not as thick as some of my other lulu bottoms. They are also more purple than I would like.

looks like a completely white FTBW bra in behind the pink one - maybe it is neutral blush or a combination, but if you look at the straps behind the raspberry glow ones, I think it is from the white bra...too bad can't see tag completely. Love your blog!

Thanks for the color comparisons :) I'm still confused about the difference between dark wren and deep camo. Why would LLM release these few colors which are so close to each other all at once is a mystery.

Right now, I'm sticking to only buying basic bras, speed shorts and CRBs from LLM - the rest are starting to feel more "gimmicky" to me, and not must-haves. I appreciate LLM expanding their collection to cater to the more adventurous, but right now, I'm at a place where I want to curate my LLM collection to include only the more timeless pieces that go with lots of other stuff.

please GOD let them release a DARK WREN studio pant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought the black cherry High Times. It hasn't come yet, but I saw it in the store and it is a beautiful color. Very different imho from bordeaux drama. Both colors are reds...Black Cherry has more blue in it. Bordeaux Drama has more yellow (giving it a every so slightly brownish cast) in it.

Personally, I prefer bluer casted shades of all colors (probably due to skin tone), Bordeaux Drama is out for me.

On the Deep Camo topic, I'll probaly cave and get the HT in that color tomorrow. I like the color a lot. I use brown as a neutral...pairs well with brights and pastels. Deep Camo looks like a green casted brown or a brown casted green. I think it will go with lots of colors.

Thank you for the comparisons! It's kind of confusing to navigate these colors, haha. I saw them in store and I feel like dark wren looks similar to soot, whereas deep camo is like if soot and fatigue had a baby or something, heh. Honestly seeing dark wren without soot to compare it with, it looked just like soot to me, maybe a shade darker. But I suppose in reality there is a little more brown to it?

...okay, clearly I'm still a little confused. Anywhoo, I ordered the deep camo high times. I like them and am having trouble deciding whether to keep them or not. I like having a khaki like color that isn't overly "earthy/granola", but I'm also not sure what to pair it with and like most on here I have a zillion leggings at this point. I do like the pic of the model wearing a grey tank and black jacket with it though.

Decisions, decisions... It is kind of annoying that they don't make ALL their leggings this nice (in terms of coverage and fit as well as feel of the fabric) so that we have to be all ecstatic when they release two that randomly are... Hopefully this is a sign of positive change to come, but I guess I can't hold my breath!

LuluAddict, and others too :), this is off topic but I'd love to hear your thoughts on wearing the Oil Slick Blue Camo Define Jacket with Inkwell Luon pants. I have lots of Inkwell colour Luon pants, and have had my eye on the Oil Slick Blue Camo Define, but not sure if it would pair well with the Inkwell pants I already have (Grooves, Relaxed Fit, High Times, etc, I also have Inkwell Dance Studio Pants). Do you think the blue colours in the jacket go well with Inkwell pants? Or maybe too much blue in one outfit and too matchy?

For those of you who have the Oil Slick Blue Camo Define, I'd love to hear what you're wearing with it, and what other colour combos look nice with the blue camo? Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to help out :)

LLA - did you stay tts in the embrace hoodie or size down? Many of the online reviews indicate that people have sized down. I'm interested in getting one.

Thanks!

Scored insulated shorts in blue and reflective skirt for $20 each in WEM in Edmonton

Did you by any chance happen to spot the Clip IN LS? I really want this shirt but would love some fit reviews before I buy online. I'm nowhere near a store.

6.22 I got a pair of the hot cheeks as well, mine were 29 and it the pigment blue color. They also had the reflective skirt, but that one is a bit short and it rides up when running. Hopefully the shorts will go on markdown.

anon @ 9:47 am - I'm with you and I think that is a good way to put it. I am not into most of the stuff they post photos about; the facebook streams seem like a bombardment of gimmicky items. But I still am spending at lulu because I still love the classics, which is what made lulu stand out to me in the first place :)

I've seen both colors in person and Deep Camo is too army greenish for me. It's more of a true khaki green whereas Dark Wren is more of a Khaki grayish brown. Both are great neutrals, but if you want a more greenish khaki go with Deep Camo and if you want a more brownish/grayish khaki go for the Dark Wren.

As a side note, both colors were sheer on me in my regular size; I couldn't see skin but I could definitely see my black undies when I was standing straight up. Bent over, totally sheer for both. As long as you're not planning to workout in these, they are opaque in the upright position as long as you wear skin colored undies.

I saw black cherry in person and it is gorgeous. Black cherry is the perfect name for it. I think it is a must have that would pair well with many bright colors, especially light blues, pinks, greens, orange etc. Would be a great accompaniment to springy colored tops.

I bought the deep camo HT and I love the color..however, I to am finding them sheer in my preferred size. I bought a size bigger and thought they fit fine in the store but when I tried them on this morning there was extra material around my knees, calfskin and ankles and I didn't feel like they were very compressive, like throwing on a tight tee-shirt that you can still see imperfections thru. What's the lesser of two evils, a little baggy or sheer? Also recently purchased inspire tights and after three wears, I was pulling up the material on the thighs constantly during my run. So frustrated with all the pants. Who has time to go into the store cap much?

@ M, 11:09 a.m., my reflective skirt doesn't ride up at all when I'm running. Perhaps a different size might be better?

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 5:06 am - I ordered my regular size. Size down was snugger in the body but the arms were too tight. There is a seam on the upper arm because of the dropped shoulder and it felt constrictive on me in the smaller size.

Anonymous said...

8:32 I think it might have to do with the running tights that I was wearing. Tech fleece speed tights from last year. I really like the reflectivity of the skirt, so I still wear it.
