I saw the Warp Knit Tights in my local Lulu tonight..did not try them on but did not care for the unfinished hem..I mean for $98 I want my hem's finished. Anyway, just my opinion, maybe this is the new trend like the $200+ jeans with holes in them (not my thing) LOL. I also tried on and ended up purchasing the warm core hoodie in the black with white inside trim and gold zipper..my store also got the inkwell..no pink which I may have purchased instead of the black..I found in TTS however I ended up going with my size up 12 since I got a bit more length and not a ton more room in the body but will definitely layer (which I could have done in my TTS) so it was really more about the extra length.
@ lulu - unfinished hems - and rolling ones at that!! - are the kiss of death for me. It pissed me off that the Here to There Dress had an unfinished hem at the bottom. I won't buy items with unfinished hems.
@LLA I didn't want to love it but didn't want to take it off..that polartec material is just so soft and comfy..very functional piece for sure..anxious to hear your take! I also got a chance to try the departure vest..in black and pink..very oversized and over a scuba ok/decent looking..forget about it over a thin shirt..had one of my 5 year yogi LS and it looked redic. I tried the size 10 then tried a size down and could not even zip it..no elasticity to speak of in the Departure Vest's waistband..I thought with all the scuba's I have maybe but then I thought no way..I have my fluffed up vest for that purpose ;)
I won't buy things with unfinished hems, either. There's absolutely no performance, style, or appearance justification for them - just cutting corners and saving money on assembling the pieces. (You notice it's not like pieces with unfinished hems are so much cheaper, either - pure profit for LLL.) Thanks for pointing it out in the photos.
The girl in the second photo looks great in the top - I like that the cap sleeves are not skin tight on her. I'm not so concerned about the hems but the seamless bottoms leave a gaping crotch look that I don't like plus it feels like your pants are always falling off.
I totally agree with you LLA, I will not buy anything with unfinished hems. Leaves way too much to chance for unravelling at some point. And it really does just look cheap.
@lulu - Hmm, interesting about the Departure vest fit.
@lululover - I have read the warp tights feel similar to in the flows but smoother.
@anon 10:14 pm - I think the holes are meant to improve breathability but as for the unfinished hems, I think it's because the material doesn't hem well. I wonder whether laser cutting might create a better-looking finish.
Agree it is cost cutting. The design here is part of a way to make things still look cute but with cheapening quality, still charge the high prices, as many have pointed out. This is their new way now. If you have followed the brand for years, you know. If you're new to the brand you have no clue.
What kills me is that these particular items are just like the items you see in Marshalls or Winners (Canada, owned by TJ Maxx) by the brands 90 Degrees or alo (? right name). That stuff though is $30 range or so. Some of it is very cute but it's not that high tech at all (bought a few pieces and rotated out/donated) but at least you know this going in and didn't drop $100 on any one piece.
Athleta made a similar top last summer with the ventilation holes - it was a strappy tank and one of my favorites - nice and cool. But the lack of a finished hem on the top is a deal breaker for me.
so sad because I love those tights, I think they are so cute but the waist and bottoms just don't look worth the gamble! Saw the warm core hoodie in store yesterday and it is THICK, like it would almost get too hot - and too expensive for the style imo.
I'm surprised no one's commented on the waistband on the Warp Knit Tights. This is a huge step back for Lulu. It looks exactly like the waistband on my husband's ugliest pair of underwear. I think the designers have completely lost touch with who the Lulu customer is.
Can anyone comment on the stress less hoodie? I bought four off the website various sizes and colors this morning b/c i was so happy to see a few restocked. But after the fact I was thinking if they fit big or small or whatever and I have to return them all I'm gonna feel pretty sheepish. Thanks!
I like the top in the bright yellow color. I will check to see if they have it at my local store. I think that top will work for summer casual as well as a run and workout top.
I looked at the tights hard in the store yesterday. The length is great (not too long, not too cropped) and I would totally buy them if they were $50 cheaper - I could see them flying off the shelves at a lower price point. With the wide elastic waist and unfinished hems they looked more like something that I would find at Target.
looks kind of like Gap's version of the swiftly to me. A lot of the spring season's denim has unfinished hems...so maybe it is a trend;) For all you free to be wild lovers out there, I was flipping through the newest self (or shape) and there was a sports bra that looked like lulu's free to be but the credits said it was from onzie.com. Curious I looked at the website and they also have a bra that looks identical to the FTBW!! check it out.
This ventilation stuff has been done before...I have two Nike running pieces that have them in the crops and in the top but the difference is twofold: 1. The hems are finished, thus eliminating the cheap look., and 2. the "holes" for ventilation are much smaller and with a tighter weave. I've never had an issue with snagging on the Nike pieces. If true, it's sad to see that LULU is resorting to cheap production processes to maintain their profit line.
I love the Time Warp tights. I purchased a pair today, and yes they do look cheap on the hanger, but after trying them on, they look expensive and are super cute! Can't knock an item unless you either have it or have at least tried it on. The photos on these girls don't do it justice. Then again, I got them in black which makes it look very sleek. Looked really good on me! :)

The only thought that comes to mind is: pretty crappy and cheap.
(Other than Alberta Lake as one of the colors for the pants. Anything in AL can look great.)

@lulu - the Warm Core hoodie is not the most exciting piece but it looks very useful. My store did not have it yesterday but I am dying to try it on.

I don't mind unfinished hem so much and u actually thiught it was pretty cool for the here to therr dress! How much is the core hoodie?
Are these Warp items similar to In the flow crops? I mean the fabric feel. I have several pairs of ITF crops and have to pull them up all the time
What is lulu's thought process on these items covered in holes and unfinished hems??
Can you imagine how MUCH these things would snag??
I like the warp knit tights! I guess I am the only one so far... I think they are super cute in these pics.

I'm pretty wary when the educators model the same item store after store - as they probably pick an item that's hard to move off shelves.
Having said that, since no one is modeling the new alberta lake/parfait pink FTB, I'm getting it for sure :)

@ anon 5:21 am - so true!

To me, it looks like something should be worn over those tights. They look cheap and almost like leotards.

Woop woop - I snagged a Black Cherry CRB in my local store this morning! (Central Canada)
Did you see the warp knit stuff in a U.S or Canadian store ??
I like the top in the bright yellow color. I will check to see if they have it at my local store. I think that top will work for summer casual as well as a run and workout top.

They feel similar but are a lighter, smoother fabric. I think the elastic waistband on it will help not having to pull it up all the time!
I felt the material on the tops this afternoon, and I did not like it at all. I didn't even look at those crops, they are not for me.
