lululemon inkwell black pique wunder under pants
Mini Check Pique Skinny Wills, left, and Inkwell/Black Pique Wunder Under Pant
I got my order from Monday (yay, west coast warehouse!) so finally decided to try on my Inkwell/Black pique Wunder Under Pants. I bought the Inkwell Black Wunder Under Pant as a potential replacement for my Mini Check Pique Skinny Will pants. As everyone has reported they are thin. I thought they were super comfy - very soft - but they are probably the lightest textured pant I've tried. They also are about as supportive as pajama pants.  They looked opaque in my bedroom mirror but I always like to check them in the three-way mirror in the store. I weighed them and have some comparisons for you (sorry for my dirty scale).

I also weighed the black herringbone WUPS I recently bought and they came up the same as the Bark Wunder Under Pant. Even though the Inkwell/Black Piques are super soft, for $102 I was hoping for thicker pants.

I also ordered the Bark Cotton Roll Down Wunder Under Pants and liked them a lot. They look opaque in my home mirror but I'd like to see them in the store three way. I am inclined to keep them but not sure what colors I would pair with them.

I got my Coco Pique Vinyasa. The Vinyasa is on the left and a pair of Coco Pique Wunder Under Pants are on the right. The Coco Pique scarf material might be a touch thinner than the pants, but it's super soft. I am leaning towards keeping it.

The back side of the coco pique  - Vinyasa on the left, Coco Pique WUPS on the right.

I also ordered two Sweater the Betters, in the gray and the bordeaux. I thought the bordeaux fit a bit shorter. I really liked both of them and am leaning towards keeping both. The material feels nicely soft and I have been in the market for a nicely thick cotton sweater that doesn't have a hi/low hem or cut in a giant boxy boyfriend style. I'm going to take a trip to the store to try on the next size down just to see how the shoulders fit but I do like the length of the silver. I would say this fits on the large side.

Thanks so much for the Coco comparison.. Very helpful..I bought the Long Sleeve a couple weeks ago (Race your Pace LS ) and though a bit thinner than the pants ( maybe because its Rulu ) Super soft and comfy.. I have the scarf on order and looking forward to receiving it.. I wasn't sure if it was going to be thick like the recent long sleeve top (Rulu)or the older released Wup's..

lol, I love your anal retentiveness when it comes down to details! I love the sweater on you.

Thanks for your reviews, I'm waiting for my vinyasa to arrive, and yes! the texture looks absolutely beautiful.

Yeah for $102, I'll expect the pants to have a thicker fabric, but perhaps thinner means they will work for cooler summer nights too.

Hi, I just got the Skinny Will pants in the inkwell/black pique and I LOVE them! I'm surprised you didn't go for them, LLA! I'm pretty sure I'm going to hang onto them. I didn't see the WUP in this color so I can't compare.

That sweater looks really nice on you.

LLA--I am curious why you would want something to replace the mini check pique wills? (They are my favorite pant ever).

@ anon 7:06 pm - I was thinking that, too - that they'd be perfect for my SoCal climate. If I had a money tree in the backyard, I would probably keep them since they are so comfy and nice for warmer weather. However, I like to wear my pique skinny wills when I watch my son's late fall/winter soccer games so I wanted something a little warmer.

@ 8:31 pm - thanks!

@ anon 8:34 pm - sometimes I feel the stripes look a little too lemur tail-like and wanted more of a solid but then I tried them on again today and thought, 'What was I thinking?" lol

I returned my inkwell pique WUPs too. A part of me regrets it and wish I kept them, the color was interesting on... didn't look like inkwell though, more of a soft charcoal or something. I didn't really mind that they were thin because I'm also in SoCal and they weren't sheer. But spending almost $110 on them just didn't sit right with me... especially since I have the black pique from last year.

anon @ 7:16:

the skinny wills and the WUPs in the inkwell pique are completely different materials. the skinny wills are much, much thicker.

I have the pique skinnies too and they are my one of my favorite pants. ((My 8-year-old daughter has an Ivviva pair as well so we can dress alike, which she just lioves - ha!) I wish the coco was the same thickness of the previous pique. I'm annoyed! I have a pair of coco wills from awhile back, and they're so much more substantial than the coco they're putting out now. And LL could have done better with the coco vinyasa, It's a little whomp-whomp compared to the the other pique they made awhile ago. Sigh!!

I agree about the stripes on the pique skinny wills! They are my favorite winter lulu pant but sometimes I wish I could wear them on the reverse side but because of the gusset I don't. Although I always wear a long tunic so could probably get away with it.

The stripes make me feel like I'm wearing long johns sometimes.

Thanks for the comparisons. I love how you weigh the items, it is very telling!

Coco pique is a beautiful fabric but I'm going to pass on the vinyasa if it makes it to Canada. I just don't buy into the fact that it's not a double layer, i.e. is unfinished on one side. Charge half the price then. It should at least be two layers of coco. Surely a material resources angle here and still charging $48 or whatever. They'll say it's finished on one side only to allow for drape of the fabric etc., and again I'll say "not buying it (or your script)"

P.S. sweater looks nice on you and I like how your (pretty) dog is hanging out with you. Pets are the best.

I had to butt in into the doc pique vinyasa)) I will certainly order it once it gets to Canada. I do own 3 rulu vinyasas and 2 textured ( Black HB "with seams" and mini check pique from last year). Have to say that I love rulu for bright colors and even though they are finished in both sides, the textured ones are by far my favourite! They are draping nicer and feel softer and warmer. The inside part is decent looking, unlike inky floral French terry vinyasa ( aka towel, lol)

Now to my order that arrived yesterday...Finally I got navy pleated skirt- it's definitely more slimming than lighter or patterned colors. Reminds me of a school girl. Yes, ideally I would love it in long, but given lack of choice, lol. The shorts are patterned and so comfy. Be careful to never ever put it I to the drier- it will be ruined. Washing even on normal is fine.

White herringbone running tights were a bit of a disappointment to me- thinner than any herringbone I have ever tried and not soft from inside. Not slimming either. High waist was nice though.

Anytime dresses are nice and soft. I am for sure keeping at least one. In fact, wearing it right now with navy gratitude wrap and sexy stockings- comfy, smartly design to hide saddle bags and even the tummy if you move it up and make shorter. Fabric is not compressive or thick, but it is to expect. That's why the price was decent too. For owners of ombré WUC in black/navy- wear the dress in navy as a tunic, awesome comfort and harmony combo....

I love Vintage Pink with my Bark Roll down WU's, I've also worn them with Utra Violet, Very Green and Pretty Purple and really liked the results.

@6:43 -- I wear my pique skinny wills inside-out all the time (with a long sweater). It stinks that the gusset isn't finished. I wouldn't have thought to do so, but my daughter's ivvivia pants in the same pattern are reversible. I wish LL would make more patterned skinny wills and make them reversible... A happy girl I would be!
