Store Trip Report

I went to check out the latest arrivals at the store yesterday and ended up going home with a pair of the black Dog Runner pants. Everyone raves about these pants and after freezing my butt off watching my kids' soccer games this past weekend bundled up in herringbone Will Pants, a rulu Layer Me LS and a Don't Hurry Be Happy pullover (man, I hope those are making a comeback this year) I wanted something a little warmer on the bottom. I also tried on the brushed Wunder Under Pants and Brushed Grooves, too. I really liked the brushed WUP - I could definitely feel they were brushed and a bit warmer feeling than regular luon WUP. They were slightly thicker and totally opaque. I thought the Dog Runners were a bit warmer since they have a rulu under layer and a stretchy Glyde layer. One of the eds was telling me she loves them a lot and uses them while she coaches outside. They definitely have a "coach" look to them and that is another reason I got them since I don't have anything similar to them. They are a bit on the long side for me, about 3" too long, but for now I am going to try cinching them up though I might get them hemmed if that doesn't work for me. I thought the fit was TTS but I've checked the on line reviews and lots of people said they sized down in them which I don't get. I am spot on for the lulu hip measurement for my size but I do have junk in the trunk and thick legs so maybe people who carry their weight differently get away with moving down a size.

Back to the Brushed WUP and Grooves, I thought they fit TTS. The fabric feels a bit thicker than regular luon and they were opaque. I liked them and will put the WUP on my maybe-if-I-find-some -extra-money-somewhere list.

My store had the October Inkwell WAFS print Run For Fun crops in so  I tried them on to see how opaque the print is. I thought the fabric felt similar to the plum WAFS, on the softer side compared to the black WAFS Inspires I recently bought, but unlike the plum it was more opaque. I tried on the size down and had on black underwear and couldn't see anything when I bent over. If they make this color in Inspires or the RFYL crops (the Run For Fun crops have no back zipper pocket) make it to North America I'd consider getting them.

My store also got in the Green Bean WAFS Can't Stop crops and I tried those on to see how opaque those were. This material feels like the Soot WAFS - thick and compressive and was opaque. It's a pretty wild print but I'd consider Inspires in these, too.

I tried on the new Ride Inside Tank in Pretty pink and the new Ride Inside Crops in black. The tank is ok, it didn't wow me, but it's a perfectly functional tank and very cool feeling. I tried on the Pretty Pink in my TTS and the size down and both were on the sheer side. I would say the girl in the top photo is wearing her TTS so if you want it more fitted-looking you should size down. I also tried on the crops. I thought they fit a bit on the loose side, particularly through the abdomen/crotch area. I think maybe the diamond mesh side panel gives that feeling since it's stretchier than luxtreme. I don't think I would size down in them, though. I thought the crops were comfortable enough but not sure why I'd get these rather than wear a pair of luxtreme run crops or luxtreme Wunder Unders to spin. Also, unlike the Spinerette shorts that came out last year, these do not have a double layered crotch panel that helps against wear on luxtreme bottoms. I've worn pinholes into my luxtreme crops from rubbing against the saddle (I mean it takes lots of lots of classes over a year to do this but it happened). I am disappointed that feature was left out. I wasn't that impressed by the luxtreme and these and could see the shadow on my underwear when I bent over.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents about the Dog Runner pants: The Rulu liner is like butter (so cozy!) and they're great for cold SoCal mornings. I agree with you, LLA, if you have a muscular lower body, get your usual size.

I just got the dog runner pant this week and really love it. I, too, wish it is a bit shorter but I can live with it. Too lazy to bring it in to hem it. See my post for more pictures.

I don't know how it was possible but I nabbed a pair of Herringbone WU when they popped up on the site. Hoping they run a little small because I'm normally a 4, but they had a 6. Trying to resist the brushed Grooves, but they are already sitting in my cart!

Dog Runner pants = best pants ever! I think they fit TTS, but I also have thick thighs and a bigger butt! :-)

Did you find the dog runner's to be really static? I tried them on in store and passed on them because the top layer clung really badly and looked sloppy! They felt really cozy though. I often wear a pair of wunder under's under my studio pants in the winter and haven't had this problem.

Got an email from my local store that they are doing a special one-hour only event on Saturday morning before usual opening for some "treats." They say "mark your calendars, we'll mark our prices" so I'm assuming it is significant mark-downs. Anyone else's store doing this? And any intell on what level of markdowns to expect? If it's just what's in WMTM, not so interested...but I'm hoping for something bigger.

I found the dog runners TTS also, and was surprised that they weren't static-y or clingy at all (this was black swan). Super comfy, and at 5'10", I was really happy with the length.

I just got my black swan dog runners yesterday. I usually go between a 6 and 8. Took a chance and ordered the 6. They fit perfectly, and the 8 might have been too big around the waist. For reference, I have a 6 waist, but have to size up to an 8 in speeds and pacesetters because I don't like how they pull across my hips. I cinch those with the elastic drawstring. I wear a 6 in the studio pants.

On a related note, I also got my speed tight cozy yesterday. I went with a 6 in these as well, though if I had gone with the regular luxtreme, I would've needed the 8 due to sheerness. But LOVE the cozy version - perfect for 25-40 degrees!

I purchased the long sleeve angel wing swiftly in store last night. There had been other posts about how sheer it was but I didn't find it sheer at all. Maybe that's what took so long to release it the US? Anyway, I love it and glad it was finally available!

@ anon 3:47 pm - No need to worry, the Run For Fun fit TTS. I tried on the size down since I am planning on losing more weight so am tending to buy the next size down in bottoms if I can get away with it.

I don,t agree with the hype about the dogrunner pants. The static cling that I experienced last year turned me off forever of these pants. You have better results if you wear a warm underpant with your Dance Studio pants, and you don,t even have to struggle with pulling the Dogrunners' two layers on.

Great post. I've been scouring the reviews on size and googling pics. No longer near a store so ordered a 6 and 4 in black the other day to try. They get here Sat! I'm a small 6 and 5'4". It took a while to decide on the colour. The over exposed pic of the Black Swan from one of your recent updates turned me off. Didn't want them to look cheap so went with the black. Now I just hope I like them!!

I am interested in the Dog Runners but am super short. If I have them hemmed, would they keep the cinching feature at the bottom of the legs for me, or do you think they would just cut straight across and not bother keeping that feature in the hemmed version?

Anyone have trouble with their store keeping the cinching, since I know it costs alot more to simple hemming?

@ anon. 12:43 I saw the herringbone and pique wunder unders in store today so I suspect they restocked which is why you were able to grab them online!

@ anon 6:38 pm - some stores keep the drawcord when they do hemming and some don't. Mine happens to keep it.

@ anon 3:59 pm - I wonder if I will have static cling issues out here in SoCal. Since we rarely have to run the heat static cling has been largely a thing of my east coast past. I did notice some clinginess in the stores. I guess if it's annoying enough it will be easy enough to resell the pants on ebay. That is one reason I am loathe to hem the pants even though they are a few inches to long for me, I don't want to affect their resale.

I got the dog runner pants - they are awesome, but I'm so tall they kept feeling like they were pulling down. I may go back and see if a size up will work better.

Thanks for these fit reviews LLA.

Can you (and others) let us know if you experience static cling issues with the dog runners? I'm on the east coast and tried them on last week and the outer layer was very clingy over the inner leggings which turned me off. I like the pants but won't wear them if they look clingy and unflattering.

Also, while I don't spin and probably won't be buying the new spin tank it sort of has a look of high fashion to me with the neckline and sheer inserts - anyone else think this?

Thank you Jen 2:46 Oct 31!!!!! It sounds like we are the same size and you just helped me decide which size to buy online in the Dog Runner Pant!!!
