The only girl who looks really good in what she is wearing is the one in the pizzazz inspires. The step livelys and rg crb look very unflattering on the first model.
Went to check the handful.com website for the bra cups to replace the lll ones, and this announcement caught my attention:
"Handful As a company with a conscience, we have to bring this to your attention! We will no longer encourage our fans to put cell phones in Handful Bras. Keep stuffing your Goo, credit card, money, lip gloss, etc. into the pad pocket, but small microwave radiation devices against breast tissue is a NO-GO! We don't need to make more cancer. It does too good of a job growing on its own."
Although this is something most of us already know, or should now by now, it is a constrast with lululemon who until the previous released of the Run Stuff Your Bra was still showing pictures of cell phones in the pockets of this bra.
As for the Handful bra and cups, I bought one bra once and althouhg it was comfortable, I found the cups to be flimsier than lululemon's and only good for the Handful bra. The best bra cups to date, IMO, are Lucy's. They used to sell them for $.99 a pair evry now and then. And then never again. Wonder why, maybe because unlike lll, every Lucy tank and bra comes with inserts.
OT. I so want to like the Do The Twist Headband, but everytime I add it my shopping bag, I remove it before the check out: I can only see Aunt Jemima wearing it!
Tried on the Mod Moves short sleeve top today. Liked how airy and light it felt, how open the neckline in the front and back are. Seemed to pricey for a top, though. I have a hard time budging above $50. The Richmond VA store had Soot Light/Groovy Stripe Nimbus Gather and Crows! The waistband was awesome. The coverage is okay, they weren't sheer. I did see a couple of bumps, though, probably because the fabric is a little lighter and the color is, too. Fit was true to size. I already have a pair of grey yoga crops but I couldn't seem to part with these--Soot is such a warm, inviting grey. I also got some StudioLux space-dye crops today at another store, and was really pleased with the coverage and feel. Not a lump or bump in sight! Good compression, too, if you size down. The price is a good $10-20 less than Lululemon. Definitely worth a try.
@ anon 1:53 - completely agree with you about the price of the Mod Moves ss. Tried on the power purple in store this week and loved it for all of the reasons you mentioned. I could see myself getting a lot of use out of it for summer training. But $68 seems excessive for a basic running tee. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not hopeful this will be repriced. Can anyone suggest a good value running tee? Doesn't need to be cheap. I started running a couple of months ago and I'm building a running wardrobe since I don't find that most yoga wear works well for running.
I stopped by one of the Lulu stores around here today to check out all of the new colors.
I thought that Pizazz looked like a great color online, but when I saw it at the store it wasn't quite fluorescent, but very close to being there. Since I have a fair to medium complexion, this color next to my face looked awful.
The raspberry glo was nice and I passed on it the last time around, so I can probably pass this time too.
The Cool Breeze color didn't knock my socks off either. It just more along the lines of the pastel Easter egg colors Lulu has been giving us since the beginning of the year.
I walked out of the store with nothing and also with items crossed off the wish list should the come out (pizazz CRB, cool breeze CRB, etc...)
Today I tried to get the cool breeze CRB and the black with summer quilt13 2 speed shorts in store. They still have not received them (no, it's not that they are sold out, I confirmed which). I live in a major city in Canada that has 4 stores within the city proper. I've tired 2 stores this week. I don't care enough to order them on-line anymore, if that's their plan. Note to LLL, when you release products and new colours, make sure you have it IN STORE at least that week. Hello, it's Saturday, when lots of people shop. Seriously no concept of management.
Love the Cool Breeze colour, it's almost the same as the Lilac from a few years ago and now that I can't wear my old Lulu stuff (I've dropped two sizes) it's a pretty close replacement.
I like the new Sand to Savasana Duffel, but I'm not paying $150 for a bag. I have a very nice Triumphant Tote from a couple of years back that will still do and is a very nice bag too boot. I'd just like one that I can fit my laptop in and still get other stuff in too and unless you turn the laptop on it's side you can't actually get much into the Triumphant Tote. It's the laptop or the work clothes, not both and that's a pain as I need them both for my teaching.
I also tried the Scuba Stretch for the first time today. I actually like it, the fabric is softer, always something that I didn't really like about the old Scuba, it would almost go hard on the outside as it aged. I like the less bulky hood and the shoulder seams are softer too. I'm only 5'3" so the shorter length is probably better for me anyway. We'll see how it washes and wears.
I forgot to say that whilst I was shopping in the big smoke I saw a new store, a Lole in West Ed, it must be really new because it's not even listed on their website as one of their stores.
Lole is in Canada now, go check out their stuff in reality!
Lol! I feel like aunt Jemima when I wear my dense purple bang buster, it just doesn't work for me... So I wear it inside the house only to cover up when I have really bad hair days :)
At anon 6:57 - Totally agree! I was in two different stores this week and neither had the orange speed shorts. Annoying - I typically don't order online unless I've tried the item on in the store and they just don't have the color I want.
I also agree that the mod moves ss is way over priced. With most items recently I can wait for it to get to MD and if it doesn't then oh well. Ms. Day can take her scarcity model and shove it. If I miss out I know something else will come down the road soon.
One other thing that has me really miffed - if I read one more review from some poor soul who bought the contempo jacket for $138 and subsequently went into the store to get a price adjustment and was told no I'm going to lose it! There should be a "memo" from the corporate headquarters on an issue like this. To allow stores to be entrepreneurial on mark downs is one thing but EVERYONE should get the refund, not just those whose store managers know what good customer service is. Then to top it off some people who go on the website and write a review about this have gotten a response from GEC but not all of them. Total joke.
I suggest New Balance short sleeve quick dry s, for races I use a fuel belt I wear (old) LLL swiftly because they don't ride up and protect your skin from chafing..,you may want to wait on the quality to get better because new swiftly are scratchy
@ 3:13 PM, I totally see Mod Moves s/s going to wmtm or markdown in store eventually. It means waiting but ultimately will pay off.
I've bought LLL for a few years and there were times where things would sell out immediately, but now rarely: the recent example would be the charcoal WU's. The Mod Moves s/s is not that special an item and $68 is a lot for a shirt.
If you are looking to economize, I would recommend Winners/Marshalls as you can usually score brand name stuff (Nike, Adidas) for great prices. It sucks as you have to search through the stuff, but there are usually gems to be had. On that note, I was in Winners yesterday and there were Roxy brand items with an "astro" waistband. Very funky patterned Calvin Klein crops, and Bally crops in a power purple spirit (all with a gusset), and I thought, if I needed any of this stuff (there was so much of many brands) I had just hit the jackpot.
If anyone is looking for a swiftly alternative, I found sleeveless tank at Marshall's for 9.99. It feels just like my power purple swiftly, but longer in length. I wear a 4 in lulu and got a small, but it is a bit big. They had orange (almost same color as pizazz), blue (beaming blue) and pink (pinkalicious). I got 2!
I agree for waiting for wmtm...in most items (typically crb and...especially the energy bra in size 2 as I've only seen my store typically carry one only and never re-stock in this size). I'm waiting for the mod moves singlet to hit wmtm. I really like it a lot...but don't want to spend full price on it. And if I don't pick it up on wmtm it's not the end of the world. I usually find something else I like anyways...actually I always find something else I like (as evidenced by my overflowing workout clothes dresser drawer haha).
@anon 6:27 - anon 3:13 here. Thanks for the suggestion. I have a Winners close to home(and a Marshalls coming soon)so I'll go check them out. You make a good point that things rarely sell out now so I'll wait and see for the Mod Moves ss.
I tried the pizzaz orange inspires the other day. They show every flaw and bit of cellulite, even if you don't have much. Or, the pairs I tried did anyway. I sized up (normally a 4-6), no help. Plus I looked like a traffic cone. I really wanted to like them. The colour is lovely, and looks good with a couple of complementary ones, like aquamarine. For me they looked better on the rack than on the body though.
I would recommend gapfit for alternative, lower priced short sleeves. I recently got one on the clearance rack that even had a zipper in the back. I think it was $12! Ran in it last week and it held up. They also have this whole breathe line that feels buttery soft. I bought a tank and V-neck. not sure if I will work out in it but I am now noticing more and more ladies in it at the gym so am thinking that it will hold up!
GapFit sizing is way too large. I'm a 2-4 in Lululemon tops, and the XS GapFit size tops are all way (WAY!) too big. I also found an issue with sheerness with a lot of GapFit tops and bottoms. I actually have had better luck with Old Navy (I really like their mesh sided running shorts), however, you generally get what you pay for...
Brooks and Oiselle make really cute technical tops for running. Their fabrica wick well. I'm lucky enough to live close to a Brooks outlet, and their stuff often goes on sale at various running stores. I've also had good luck finding Nike and Addidas running clothes at The Nordstrom Rack. I find they have a much better selection than Marshalls (and Rack carries more small and extra small choices). I've also been able to score my running shoes on sale there (Asics Gel Kayanos)a couple of times for almost half the price.
Road Runner Sports (which has an online store as well as retail stores) is upping their game now too. It's almost like they can smell the blood in the water with Lulu's quality issues. They use to just offer basic, boring women's running clothes. Now they are adding details like ruching, pleating, ruffles, etc.
With Lulu's current quality issues and misfires, I'm looking at all options now. I've never been an exclusive Lulu girl, but for several years, probably 80% or more of my running clothes were purchased there.
I still love the Speed shorts and skirts that offer 2 Gu pockets and the back zipper pocket (so far, no other brand I've seen, including those at Marathon Expos offer that many pockets except Race Ready, and their clothes just aren't that cute!) The Marathon skirt and shorts had 5 pockets (love those!) and the Marathon crops had 7 (have 2 pairs of those).
re: the bra / cellphone / cancer thing... with that logic, then I shouldn't be keeping my cellphone in the pocket of my scuba hoodie, right next my ovaries?
i think the bra is a dumb idea, lulu's version and any other brand. and obviously, cancer sucks. but what a dumb thing to put on your website as a company. it's right up there with Lulu telling people their sunscreen causes more harm than good.
I've tried the Marshall's Swiftly alternative due to the rave reviews on this blog and cannot stand it. It feels cheap and not as breathable for sure... Not a replacement by any means. I'd much rather buy one Lululemon swiftly than 3 of the Marshalls ones.
This is kind of a random question: does anyone know what they do with the clothes they use to model? Do the employees buy them super cheap? They obviously can't sell them because the tags have been removed.
I received a production notification yesterday with the Groovy Striped Multi CRB and Free to Be Bra http://store.lululemon.com/hostedemail/email.htm?CID=9016075546&ch=87C2FE8AF29CEC877F4F14D6882F3A78&h=6ff6282c75a90227c8f01b15fb87ce1a&ei=6mr_z1TnN
received my groovy stripe bang buster in the mail today, I'm disappointed! There's 3 thin pink stripes and the rest is yellow blue and orange :( .. However I do like my charcoal WUC, the material is a bit shiny but the colors and thickness is great. My nimbus/soot stripe CRB also has thin soot lines on the top and thicker lines near the stomache bottom (Size 4). I guess my bra's will be showing wearing this one!
Anon 11:26 - Thanks so much for sharing the link to the product notification that you got. I am so excited that there will be a Groovy Stripe Multi CRB! It looks really cute. I am not super into pink but I like a little hint here and there and this tank is perfect for that.
@9:37 when I tried some clothes on at my local showroom and they took pics for their Facebook page; they snipped off the tags for the pics and then reattached them once we were done.
Anon 11:26 Yes, thanks for sharing the link. I'm hoping we'll see those Groovy Stripes tonight. And yay!!!! The Free To Be bra in the groovy stripes has stripey straps!!! :) [Sounds like a tongue twister. ;)]
I like Brooks technical fabrics as well. I have a couple from race premiums and they perform very well. They have race stuff on it, so can't comment on cuteness, but fabric is perfect for running.
mmm so in the pictures where some of the people are running doing yoga etc. They are borrowing the clothes and sweating in them and then putting them back on the floor for sale? That is a bit yucky.

wow girl in the pizaaz inspire crops looks amazing as does that outfit!!! Makes me want those inspires???? Hummmm
Behind the girl in the last pic, there's a grey and white version of the scarf! PLEASE let that come in a CRB.

I would be veeeery cautios to make that move in the Pizzaz Inspire crops once I have started sweating...
