Totally OT, but thought others might be interested in my Sweaty Betty swimwear review.

I ordered 2 bikinis -- Tranquility Bikini Bandeau + Sanctuary Bikini Bottom, and the Medley Bikini Bottom and Swim Top. The Medley Bottom was shipped separately, but the other 3 items arrived today, and I am in love!

The Sanctuary Bikini Bottom is like magic. It fits snuggly (so I'm not worried that I'm going to lose it in the ocean), but creates no muffin top whatsoever. The fold over part gives you some flexibility on coverage, too. Amazingly, it also actually covered my (ample) butt and I was not hanging out of the bottom in my TTS (small), so I would say that it is definitely cut for an athletic backside. I hope that they make this again next year, as I'd like this in about 12 more colors.

The Tranquility Bikini Bandeau is also gorgeous. The removable pads are really high quality and give a little "lift" with the shaping. I'm a 34D / size 8 on top and the medium has ample coverage and support. I have trouble with some bandeau styles looking dumpy on me because of my short torso, but no issues here.

The Medley Bikini Swim Top is also very flattering. Mine did not come with any pads, which I find annoying, as there is a spot for them. I'm going to see if the ones that came with the Tranquility will work, and if not, I will see if SB will ship me some. The Medley is very sporty, and I ordered it because of the back - I have been working very hard and my back muscles are very defined right now, and this cut really flatters and shows off that hard work.

As an added bonus, these two tops and two bottoms all match so I get a lot of options assuming that the Medley bottoms also work when they arrive.

The fabric feels excellent. It's substantial and does not seem delicate at all. I expect these suits to last.

There is an entire section on the SB website about the testing that they do with their suits (by actual athletes, not just lounging on the beach), which is what caught my attention in addition to the cute designs.

Anyway, if anyone else finds Lululemon's swim offerings less than functional, I suggest giving SB a go. There is always a coupon floating around for 20% off + free shipping and returns to the US, which takes a little bit of the sting out of the prices, so be sure to do a google search before ordering.

As to shipping time, I ordered on May 9, it shipped May 10, and received today (shipping comes from the UK).

I would say that everything ran TTS according to the size chart. I take a size 6 bottom, size 8 tops in Lulu, and I ordered a small bottom and medium top from SB.

Hope someone finds this helpful!

Wow these are not flattering.

I would love twiggy speed shorts in this color.

Wow bleached coral looks really pretty with soot. I'm regretting not buying more in the bleached coral when it was out, but most of it was color blocked unfortunately.

I have last year's lulu version of the Serene pant, in Tencel. They are in my closet still new with tags. The fabric is very revealing and shows the minimal skin imperfection as well as the pockets' lining. So this year, I ordered the Athleta's version of Serene, called the Napali Pant. They look really nice:

http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46795&vid=1&pid=580959002

BTW, there's an additional 20% off on all sale items until the 19th. Took great advantage of it earlier today.

Also, OT but thought some fellow yogis and barre, zumba, studio fans might be interested in the new Nike shoes designed to do traditional "barefoot" workouts. I think they are genius and cute, though expensive:

One last thing, today I received an email from Yogasmoga (I have two leggings in BO, bought with the FB and LLA coupons), offering 25 Smogi bucks on first purchases, for new accounts. Did anyone get this offer too? Not sure I understand how it works for me.

So the stuff your bra is great in all, but I wouldn't advise any one sticking their phone in it. I have heard of people getting heart arhythmia's from doing that, just sayin

Whoa - why would they send out a photo like that one of the back of the mod crops??? That is exactly what they looked like on me which is why I left them at the store. I was surprised that you thought they were thicker, LLA. I had just the opposite reaction, more like pantyhose! Maybe they have different batches again.

2nd set of photos, Mod Move crop: don't think that's just a vpl, that looks like sheerness to me. I think someone weighed in in yesterday's comments about a try on and Mod Move are sheer. I can't even be bothered to check myself. Plus, every recent crop review I read is all about the poor quality and threads coming out etc. I have no faith in LLL anymore at this point in time.

I also find the design quality is non-existent or unappealing.

OT in the banner for bags, anyone know what color blue that is? It looks lovely! Looks like a CRB to me. Yay!

Wow, the Mod Crops made that trail runner's backside look awful. Is it the thin material? Design? Maybe she was wearing a too-small size?

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 11:32 am - I said the luxtreme felt a little thicker than recent batches not thick as the older stuff. Flaw revealing is why I have been buying the Wee Space patterned run crops lately - camouflage.

if the girl in the mod move crop went commando the problem would be solved, and she'd save money on panties, she would also feel more comfortable.

Need need need speed shorts in soot twiggy! Hello, LLL, are you listening?

Anonymous said...

ok - gotcha LLA. I've been doing the same - bought both white and inkwell WAFS crops!! kinda sad when those are better than basic black. wish lulu would get back to the olden days.

OT- can anyone make recommendation on lulu shirts(material) that will not pill against a backpack when hiking? I wore crb a few times and they were destroyed. I have swiftly, run and yoga tanks that I've never worn hiking.TIA

I wish lululemon would just create a layer, like a bandeau, that I could symply stick to the front of any of their bras (FTB, Power Y, All Sports, 50 Reps, etc) and add instantly a pocket to that bra, only for when I need it. Of course, no velcro lol

I want a bra with pockets, but do not like this one. I can't imagine stuffing this bra and then layering it under a CRB or a Swiftly LS. It would look terrible and if there is a key (like shown in the picture above) it would pierce or snag the outter layer I'm wearing.

The Way We Were said...

now, runbeam is officially on my wishlist...

@anon 1:30 - i've worn my swiftlies (LS) backpacking, as well as CRBs, and haven't had issues with pilling with either. i know a lot of people claim their swiftlies are super delicate and snag easily - i've never had a problem, mine wear like iron. it sort of makes me wonder if it's a case of wish-fulfillment...i don't baby mine, and don't have any snags. i wouldn't wear them rock climbing, but for hiking or backpacking, no problem. i wore my pow pink CRB on a 221 mile thru hike of the JMT last summer and had no pilling...same for the persian purple swiftly that i brought along. i also wear my CRBs climbing all the time, and no issues, so i'm surprised yours are pilling! i don't know if it's just a matter that quality has dropped that much (certainly possible), or if it's your pack. i hate to blame your pack for it, but it IS possible - my osprey pack seems to have pilled many of my tops (i wear this one running), whereas my granite gear pack hasn't pilled any tops. so it could be the material of the back panel/shoulder straps/hipbelt just doesn't play nicely :/

The Mod Moves crops pics in the sunlight look terrible. I was kind of interested in them until I saw this pic. I have some bum dimples, and I run outside in direct sunlight, and so I can clearly see that these would NOT be a good choice. Good grief, LLL. Get it together. You made GREAT Luxtreme for a number of years, surely that wasn't all a mistake. Stop being such margin hogs and give us good product again.
I haven't bought ANY Lulu at all this year. Zip back to this time of year 2012, and I owned EVERYTHING in that store. I spent at least $400-$500 every month on Lulu. It sounds so pathetic now to type that, so I'm kind of glad they are sucking. It gave me some perspective. However, it really is bad not to be able to replace some of my Inspires. WUC and staple items that I've owned for years.
:/
I think they should make Christine Day model for all clothing. They should put her in direct sunlight, have her move, and take some pictures of her backside. Then let's see how long these sh*tty fabrics stick around.

@ 12:53 PM, uhhh gross! Sorry, they're sheer so much more would be on display. It wouldn't solve the problem as they're revealing more than a vpl.

Oh.....the last pic of the twiggy print has just sold me on the crops/pants. I hope these come in wuc's b/c my short stocky legs don't look good in wup's. This combo of the bleached coral like top is gorgeous.

Anonymous said...

Agree! Nathan speed belts pill Lulu. Learned that the hard way!!

I'm staying away from all lulu's pants/crops now, until they truly bring back the quality they committed when creating this brand...

Anyone try on the new Contempo jacket and like or love it? My store is sold out so was wondering about the soot color in this jacket

@ anon 5:47 pm - Really, really liked it. It's a much more flattering fit than the older Stride/In Stride. I'm hoping it's coming in more colors.

OT- for anyone who has tried the Contempo jacket in Soot Light and the Gather and Crow crops in Soot Light, does the luon feel like it's the same thickness? TIA :)

Thank you for your info on the SB swim line Janet, I'd looked at them and wondered if they were as good as they looked.

Any idea what the loop is for on the twist and shout scarf?? And any suggestions on fun ways of wearing it??

i returned contempo jacket in soot. too polyestery and does not look for the price. i wish lulu added some interesting feature or at list a double sided zipper for $138. also returned wuc in twiggy print- too polyestery and when stretches looses print clarity - becoming more white than soot. bought and will keep serene pant- more reasonable cut than drihti ones, which i still have with tags from last year

Anonymous said...

Just wish the contempo had a bottom zipper! Also, I'm between 6 and 8 (as usual), but went with the 8 only because the arms were too tight in the 6 with long sleeves under it. It's a wee bit stiffer than the strides, so I hope it won't bug me where it's a little big in the middle.

OT- new loot. Run beach runner jacket.

@sophia,WOW. I never take swiftlies backpacking, always take my wool. Thats great that yours held up. I wore my ray, also the purple with black dots from last year(can't think of the name right now) crbs against two different camelbak day packs and both pilled. I have Osprey and Gregory for multi day packs : ( It could be the packs but I've never had issues with other non lulu tops. Maybe it's the material of crb... I only wear lulu to the gym, lounging around and skiing because they seem too "delicate" for bushwacking on the mountains. Lol...

@ anon 2:39pm & 11:32am - C'mon! The 2nd picture is the best the Mod Move crop look on anybody, hands down my favorite. I don't care panty line or not. Many bogy types are good, but hers really makes this style of crop shine. One seriously smashing fit.

thank you soooo much whoever posted aboutthe nike barre shoes! i had tried on my pilates instructor's old version and loved them but they were sold out everywhere. perfect for a girl with a broken seismoid!

i just got back from a rim2rim backpacking trip at grand canyon and all i wore were ls swiftlies. i buy the cheaper woen ones or ugly colors off ebay (or when they go to wmtm) and then wear those hiking so if they snag i dont care. only had one snag but have stained the cuffs a bit but id ont really care. better in humid environments since they wick. just my approach.

@anon 10:12 - it's funny you say that about your wool, because i've had packs pill by icebreaker tops! in my experience, the ventlated packs/ones with the waffle mesh tend to pill any knit shirts - i think this mesh just is very abrasive. if i'm wearing a poly top/sunshirt, then i have no pilling issues. with smooth, foam backpanels i have no pilling issues with any fabric. my multiday pack has the smooth foam, so this might account for my luck when it comes to lulu and pilling (i tend to wear my icebreaker tops for just day hikes, and yes, they pill)

Anonymous said...

@sophia HA! I've never had any issues with my icebreakers(with all levels of wool thickness) and I abuse them, even throw them in the dryer! It's weird that we have opposite experience with the same items. My multiday packs have smooth foam back panel so I will try wearing swiftly tanks and see. I don't want to risk anymore crb pilling since I do wear them as casual attire. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

That looks like a grey pocket next to the picture of the girl wearing the serene pant. Are those pants coming out in grey, too??

That's the color that the black fades to. Seriously.
