Ladies Golf Line Revealed
Some pieces of the new women's golf line were revealed today. Shown are a Hot Hitter dress on the left, the new Hot Hitter skirt. The sleeveless top is also new but I don't have a name for that yet. Bermuda shorts are also coming.

Sorry guys - I accidentally hit delete instead of publish for the three comments that came in.
Quick fit review if anyone is interested:
I went into my store tonight to have an unraveling seam fixed (a pair of Power Luxtreme crops from last year), and I tried on a few things. This is my first time in the store in several months...I used to go weekly.
I have had my eye on the Mod Moves crop. I think that there are probably different batches of Luxtreme because I've heard such contrasting opinions on the opacity of the pant, but I ended up buying them.
Here's the story- I am size 4 LLL, very fit & muscular, runner/crossfitter, but I have got a good amount of cellulite on my butt and thighs. I can't do the new Luxtreme because you can see all my dimples. Ew. So- these have a thicker Luxtreme on the butt, and the rest is a super, super light version of Luxtreme. Are they as thick as Luxtreme 2011? No, not even close. BUT- these have some creative seams on the butt and back of thigh, and it really helps disguise the lumps. In addition, the cut is EXTREMELY flattering. These are the first LLL pants (Luon or Luxtreme or otherwise) that I have purchased in a year. I was totally won over. They are SO COMFY and light and really flattering. Very little compression, but I decided I don't mind. I found them to fit TTS, and my iphone fit in the side pocket comfortably with no bounce. So I feel like I can recommend with confidence these pants to anyone who has been cautious of the Luxtreme of late due to cellulite coverage. (Or lack of) The seaming is really smart.
I also walked out with the Run: Stuff Your Bra bra.
I wear a size 4 up top always (32A) except for the Free to Be, which I size up to a 6. I sized up in this bra, too. It's REALLY comfy and I can carry my little tube of Aquaphor in the middle pocket. I am not sure about my iphone- it felt kind of hard and ouchy against my boob. Any feedback on how to position the iphone so it doesn't push against your boob? No back fat problems to speak of- I really liked the cut of the bra.
I tried on the new Tracker-like shorts (I forget the name) and the waist fits like last year's tracker shorts, but the legs and bum have a little more room than the 2012 version. I stayed TTS 4 in these. I wear a 6 in the Speed Shorts.
I liked the updates, but not enough to buy another pair that's so similar to ones I already own.
Also, the return policy is definitely loosening up. I asked the girl in the dressing room about the Mod Move crops....whether they were getting returns due to sheerness, and I also asked another ed when I was checking out. They said no, but that the crops were also new. They both told me separately that if I was even a teensy bit unhappy to return them (even after I wear them!) and they'll damage them out. Truly, that made the difference. I hope that becomes a widely embraced policy at all stores- it makes me feel so much happier and more willing to try things.
Sorry for the novel. First LLL purchase in over 5 months (and I was a former crazy person about the brand!), and I wanted to share. :)
Very excited about this.. Finally!
Sorry, OT really fast:) was the SS Power Purple v neck swiftly uploaded??? My stores are sold out already in a size 4:(
The Hot Hitter doesn't have a collar. I'm pretty sure you need a collar on the golf course. Does Lulu actually have anyone that plays sports that work in development?
Any idea when we can expect the golf and tennis line to hit stores?
Totally agree!!! I love my new Mod crops:) purchased solid black and black with white trim. I purchased a size 4 tts size fit with a nice comfy waistband that does not dig in at all... Love! They give nice coverage compared to anything in the last year from Lulu even with the bend test. I feel that they are more compressive than the Pace Crop which I own 3 pairs and also love. Very flattering crop, I recommend actually giving these a chance and worth checking out at your local store. My store was super low on size 4 and completely sold out of size 6.
@ anon 7:56 pm- I know. I read another criticism that the skirts were too short for more conservative courses, too.
@ anon 8:28 pm - I think within the next couple of weeks.
I am not a golfer but went with my dad to a golf store last weekend. I checked out the women's golf clothes out of curiosity, and they were all so cute. It kind of made me want to start playing... Anyway, they were way cuter than these clothes!
Off topic, I've been shopping online at YogaSmoga and Victoria's Secrets VSX Sport collection since the only thing I can get half way decent from LLL I are CRB. The yogasmoga bottoms have great coverage and no sheerness. The VSX bottoms are also very comfortable and stylish with many different style and options. And I love there studio tank, wicks really well and very light weight
I don't really know anything about golf... but really in 2013 there is a limit for women's skirt length on a golf course? Maybe it's just my inner feminist speaking, but for sports I say wear whatever is comfortable and flattering, screw being "conservative" enough.
The Hot Hitter dress looks more like a tennis dress than for golf. And yes, the golf club I play at has a dress code for collar-ed tops and modest length shorts/skirts. I get the pacesetter tall for golf and even that's borderline short and I am only 5'4". Doubt these will be ok for private/country club type golf courses.
Many private country clubs have dress codes if I wore this golfing I would receive a letter. Public course golfing you can wear what you want. Skirt and dress look very short (on par for LLL lately) and dress for our club would need sleeves or collar. Shorts, skirts or dresses have to 18 on outside seam, and tops must have collar if sleepless, or sleeves. I am excited to see what they have put together and hope quality and design is of old lulu.
They better that golf line out soon, love Spring golf - summer gets too hot!
Anon 7:10 - I heard that too at my LLL store about a pair of crops, return if not happy. I was a little surprised! Thanks for the fit review.
I don't play golf but I think the items look nice. And bah! golf club "rules". Any women pulling off this dress in a classy way, like the woman in the picture, will look more acceptable than some slovenly guy (you know they exist) who happens to be wearing a golf shirt and the "proper" attire.
Just an fyi for Monday's upload. Monday is a national holiday in Canada (except Quebec), Victoria Day a.k.a. the May Long Weekend.
When I first "separated" from LLL I found Lija, made tennis and golf (it's been mentioned a couple of times here in the comments) Very high quality, higher than LLL and priced accordingly! I find Lija to be just as fashion forward, in a good way, and more like a designer brand. The have a beautiful lookbook btw. The couple of drawbacks (besides the $$ for some) are for me they did not offer enough variety in gym/run/yoga specific, nor should they since the company is geared towards golf and tennis! And the shipping and return was a bit of a pain.
But the technical fabric and even some of the more casual pieces, I think, are much nicer, and when it goes on sale it's usually 30-50% discount and they email you with other specials occasionally. Lija tend to run on the small side, so you 0's, 2's and 4's might really like the fit.
If I played golf or tennis, knowing what I know about Lija, I wouldn't waste my time or money on LLL's golf line.
thanks for the fit review! I find the more information the better. I tried on the mod moves crops last week and am now regretting not bringing them home after reading your review! I agree with everything you said and am also a size 4 with some cellulite and found these to be very flattering. I might just have to go get them today! Only thing that concerned me when I tried them on was that I heard popping noises presumably coming from the waist seaming when I was pulling them up. I noticed one of the reviews on the LLL website said the same thing. Did any of you have the same problem?
Re: the golf outfits. They are cute. I do not golf but my boyfriend does and I know that men have to wear a collared shirt but I'm not so sure whether all clubs require the same of women.
Nice to hear about the improving customer service as well.
One other note, I have beaming blue run inspires from around Jan of this year that I wore yesterday. I haven't really worn them that much but after wearing my black run inspires earlier this week and trying on the mod moves crops feel the compression on them is really good in comparison and the sheerness factor to be relatively low. Wore them with a pop orange colored top and got a few compliments as well as a few crazy looks but I liked the bright colors together.
Maybe the Hot Hitter dress and skirt are for tennis instead of golf?
Most golf courses only require collared shirts for men, FYI. I'm SO happy they are making attractive golf clothing! Golf clothes are the worst, but I love the sport. I'm excited to see what this line is about.
LLA will the upload for canada still be monday night because of the Victoria Day holiday???
I tried on the mod moves at the store and not sure if it was just a bad batch, but they were so sheer. I am a size 4 with no cellulite but they definitely did not pass the bend test. They felt and looked like pantyhose on. No way would I wear those in public. Better make sure you have someone look at you doing a bend test to be sure, before you wear them!
@ anon 7:49 am - I am not sure. I need to look up to see what they did last year.
@ anon 6:27 am - Thanks for the info about Lija. So far, lulu's golf line looks dull. I was hoping to see stripes and prints made from luxtreme and luon but I suspect that collared shirt is made of Vitasea. If I want a cotton golf shirt I've got plenty of Ashworth and other brands in my closet.
@ anon 9:40 pm - there are dress codes for both men and women at courses. The nicer courses will require a collared polo-type shirt and something like docker pants/shorts on the bottom for men. I never play in a skirt so wouldn't know about women but women often require a collared shirt, too.
Yay! Golf clothes! I am thrilled. I've played at many country clubs and public courses in Texas and the collared shirt is only really applicable to men. If you are a woman dressed appropriately no one takes a second look at your skirt length or collar. I've even gone as far as to play in a crb and pacesetter skirt at my country club and no one has ever said anything. Maybe it's because my husband and I are younger members and they don't want to scare us off.
As usual, LLL makes another line of workout fashions with a theme, but not for the serious athlete.
I got my power purple crb!!!! I love it!!!!! Why didn't I buy it sooner! Love it!
The dress would be cute for tennis but no way either pass muster for a country club course. You usually have to have skirts that go to the top of the knees. And you also definitely have to have a collar. Sleeveless is fine though.
Do you guys think blonds call pull off that dune color with the rest day pullover!?
The collared tank is made of swift I believe. I saw it in my store this weekend. Makes it a little more worth it and technical I suppose
Anon. 5:54 AM.... As far as I know, we in Quebec have not separated from the rest of Canada... a natinal Holiday is a national holiday and this one applies to Quebec as well. Thanks.
I was so excited when I heard Lulu was releasing golf clothing for Summer 2013. These are cute, but as people have said above, probably not practical for private clubs or elite golfers. I played competitive golf for 8 years and generally you need either a collar or sleeves on a shirt, shorts or skorts/skirts must be no more than 3-4 inches above the knee when kneeling on the ground. I rarely see people wearing dresses on the course.
Nevertheless, the dress is supercute and I'll probably buy one anyway to wear for other reasons, or while I practice. I'll be interested to see the length of the Bermuda shorts.
I'm a big fan of Lija. I picked up a couple of skirts last year and wore them to teach Turbo Kick & Zumba as well as shorter runs. They were very comfy & I was surprised that the fit was amazing. I thought it'd be a smaller fit, but seemed like those pieces that look good on everyone. They wicked well & didn't ride up much until I started getting bigger in my pregnancy. If you do a little searching, you can find some good deals, esp if you don't mind buying from a previous season.
Prices will be high on the golf line because of detail and some technical features, just a small rumour I heard today...
I tried on the track attack shorts today and was disappointed. They were too baggy on me in the front and the butt area. There was also this weird pooch at the top of my butt area. I'm not the most well endowed in the booty so that is probably why.
I also tried on the breeze by shorts and they were also too baggy and had the same pooch in the rear. I'll stick with the groovy and speeds. I'd love a pair of shorts where the liner is actually the same as the liner they put under the skirts, so basically a small pair of shorts. I hate hate panty lines and can see the liner in the groovy shorts I have. I never noticed it in the speeds but probably because they are too short to notice. I didn't try on the work it out shorts because they have no liner and I feel a liner is necessary for my work outs particularly when doing any kind of ab work out.
Had also hoped to get a pair of mod move crops in AQ/PP but they were sold out in my size as they are online.
Adorable! A bit short though.
Looks very much to me that the skirt and dress are for tennis, only the collared shirt looks like its for golf. Hope this is only a small 'taster' otherwise its just boring.
Just checked and Canada's upload was Monday night/Tuesday morning on Victoria Day long weekend last year!
@ 4:00 PM, chill out. The holiday description referenced was "Victoria Day". In Quebec, the holiday on the same day as the rest of Canada is called National Patriots' Day. The Quebec holiday (or its prior version) is not in recognition of, or connection to, Queen Victoria's birthday.
I was super excited when I heard that Lulu was revealing a Ladies Golf Line for 2013. I have been an avid golfer for 15 years and played competitively for 8. Unfortunately, although they are super cute, these two outfits look slightly impractical. I can tell you this regarding dress codes:
- Most private clubs and elite golfers must wear either a collar OR sleeves. Not like the dress with neither.
- Shorts, Skorts and/or Skirts at many clubs have to be no more than approximately 3-4 inches above the knee when kneeling on the ground.
- Very, very rarely do I see women wearing dresses to play golf, but hopefully they have put plenty of pockets for balls, tees, ballmarks, scorecard etc.
I'll be interested to see the length of the Bermuda Shorts.
Although they may not be completely practical for golf, nevertheless these look like great items for my wardrobe and I'll probably consider buying even if I just wear them for other purposes or for practicing.
Can anyone who has tried on the Mod Moves crop comment on the mesh on the back of the leg? Is it most of length of the leg? I am considering ordering, but curious about how much of the leg is mesh? Is it similar to the inspire crops in that area? From the pics it looks like there is a lot more mesh. thanks!
MORE IMPORTANTLY: are we getting more serene pants!!!!
@Anon 9:20 AM - the Mod Moves crop's mesh is tapered up the leg in line with the back seaming. It sort of moves up your thigh at an angle to a point (I want to say it hits me mid thigh and to the outside edge) so the inner back thigh has more coverage in Luxtreme than the outer. Hope that helps and makes sense.
