This new stuff in the latest post looks like it could be found for a couple bucks at American Apparel? How come it looks so thin and wrinkly? I think it must be the nature of the pastels...
Please advise on In Stride Jacket sizing. Do I go with my Define size or size down for more fitted look?> I'm pretty slim, wear 12-14 ivivva and 2-4 in Lululemon depending on item. thanks
I guess my behind is too big for the pace skirt. The skirt flares out too much in the back and side in my usual size but it's snug if I size down. It definitely does not look like these girls :(
The pace skirt looks very matronly in all the pics, certainly not cutting edge athletic apparel. I have been selling some of my older Lulu and as I look at them I can't believe the different in the quality and thickness of the materials, so sad. This stuff really does look so cheap, on par with under armour and champion clothes.
stopped by the south coast plaza lululemon today to check out some of the new stuff. they had the new pinstripe wunder unders... contemplated trying them on but they were navy and i'm more of a black/grey bottom girl. they had a BUNCH of the new petit dot fresh teal fly away tamer headbands... i was going to order online but wanted to check out the color in person to make sure i liked it. so glad i did that because all the ones i looked at had different arrangements of the polka dots (some had a lot, some had a few scattered, some had big clusters) and i was able to pick one out that i really liked instead of risking getting one that i wasn't crazy about off of the website. i also saw more of the petit dot stuff in some sports bras and some run shorts. the educator i was talking to was telling me that they are apparently going to be getting more polka dot stuff in. this makes me VERY happy! i'm really into polka dots and stripes (was crazy about all the striped stuff out at the holiday time).
anyways... sorry for the rambling but i need to share my great find of the day! i always check out the sale rack... and today i am so glad i did because i found a cool racerback in my size... in black swan! i don't have anything in black swan but always liked the color. it was the only CRB on sale... it was marked down to $34.
I tried on wunder unders again and they just don't work for me. Do you ladies just not have any cellulite?? I am not overweight, but I can see it on my butt and thighs through the pants. Ughhhhh! I even tried sizing up. I wish they would work for me because I love the way they feel and the colors are so cute!
I went in my local store tonight, and left with nothing. The fabrics felt so thin and cheap, and I just couldn't bring myself to buy anything. I used to buy EVERYTHING in the store, and now I can't find one thing. I felt the Luon, the Luxtreme...it was all thin. I didn't realize they changed the Luxtreme...I thought my last pair of Inspires was a bad batch. Now they have fixed the waist and I want a pair, but the fabric is SO THIN. It shows every little lump and bump. Anyone else notice that?
Anon@3:47- they don't work for me now, either. My WUC from 3-4 years ago don't show anything. And I do have cellulite. My WUC from 2 years ago are thinner, but still have okay coverage. I only wear them when I'm at my leanest. The new stuff....no way. I won't wear them at all!! I am a lean size 4, but I still have lumps and bumps, so I can't wear Lulu these days. I found some GREAT crops from a company called WorkOutLife. They are pricey, but the fabric is like Lulu from 5 years ago. Very stretchy, but super supportive and you can't see ANY lumps and bumps. I have worn them to crossfit a lot and I love them. They're the only brand i have found that covers it up.
I'm a B. I wanted the hook me up bra. It made my boobs look smaller and lumpier.. The two toned colours extenuated that.
The pace skirt in the inkwell/wagon stripes was less wrinkly than the original colours. The educators were shocked. They thought it was the cutest thing ever. It wasn't my usual store(s), I was way out of town. My local stores totally know of the LLA blog, and seem to like that I come in and know what I want to try on, or see the fabric/ colours of in real life.
This store had no clue... and were shocked that I said almost all the pace skirt pics of the previous colours looked bad. Super wrinkly. I got horror looks, that LLL would never post mediocre pics..
I wanted to like it in inkwell/wagon stripes, but I am bigger on the bottom.. and while i found the astro waist nice on the dune/white pace skirt, in inkwell and white the white was glaringly bright and seemed out of place.
I also had the issue anon 2:47 had. I have lost weight, but I still have booty. Made the skirt seem REALLY short, and it flared out. While the educators kept telling me how cute it was I couldn't take it home. I didn't look like the pics show it where it is cute looking.
I found a random milky way pacesetter I felt I needed, I haven't bought one yet. I also got the pacesetter in inkwell/wagon I like the wagon stripes.. I'm not sure if I feel the front is too plain.. like it needs more stripes.
I didn't realize that the pop orange wagon stripe was new. Looked almost a little flare like to me. The store I was in had 1 and only one in a size smaller than looks best on me so I tried it on. I like the all over the skirt wagon stripes better than the larger stripes that have dominated the pacesetter lately. For being new, they had no stock..
I can't decide if I should return my inkwell and look for a pop orange/wagon stripe in my size. Not usually my colour palatte but it was kind of fun. I wish the inkwell on had more stripes...
I have to say I am not feeling the spring line. The colors are just too juvenile to me. When I compare my dsj's and live simplys to this new line it just doesn't stack up. Almost bought the rejuvenate hoodie today and then realized it was similar to something I could get anywhere for half the cost. sad :(
Anon3:47 I'm a sz4-6 but I have cellulite too... I either have to go dark, or if a lighter color, really thick (white black herringbone, light flare slub denim) I certainly can't wear regular wunder unders in light colors... I probably have 10 pairs in black though, and they smooth and tuck my dimples!
@ 7:42 PM-I totally know what you mean!! I received my inkwell run inspires. Nice color but the fit wasn't as compressive as an older pair I think they are called faded dot not sure what purple it is-got them on markdown in the store a couple years ago after I had my second and last baby and was treating myself to some lulu for working off baby weight. Any how they are nice but probably will be returning them I think, if I can't find anything else I like. I also ordered the inkwell invert crops which are completely sheer!! I ordered my tts 8 and they feel loose everywhere including the butt. However when I bend over/squat they are sheer. Also returning the cardio kick tank in zap/frond. Really cute just short and the seam on the left boob is puckery and not cute and returning the striped mellow lemon crb, something can't put my finger on it- I don't know what just didn't like it on me. "M" on here rec the run 1st base tanks. I got them in inkwell, mellow lemon and frond and they are keepers for sure. TTS 8 and fit like a dream and the colors are great. Also keeping the inkwell crop. Just love these thanks "M"!!
Thank you to all who comment on here and LLA for her diligent work and steadfast bookeping/organization on her product. Y
@12:18 PM This is 10:59 AM. The Hook-me-up bra is definitely minimizing but not in an unattractive way. I still definitely have two girls, they're just not as 'out and at-them' as normal.
anon @7:42pm - i agree with you, it's really sad. i use to buy a ton (i still buy but it's much more selective) i have found myself buying vintage items on ebay and also selling some things - the older items sell so well - and the quality difference is remarkable. i'll bet the designers at lulu are as disappointed as we are - they can't really be proud of what they are putting out - can they? LLA thanks so much for this blog - it's so great, i actually love going back to years past and looking at all the great stuff we use to see coming out of lulu.
Hi, @ anon 3:47 - I am a size 6, so not huge by any measure, and I totally have cellulite! (I blame age a three kids!) One of the things that initially drew me to lulu (circa 2005) was the quality of the fabric and how it hid lumps and bumps. But you're right, now with the declining quality it seems to reveal every little flaw. I just tried the new Patagonia yoga line (pliant tights and crops), and the fabric is similar to the old Luon - very substantial and flattering. It doesn't have as much stretch to it and for some reason I found the black had more stretch than the others (even though fabric content is the same), but hides flaws very well. The don't have WU-style tights yet (the pants are more like Grooves, the knickers about the length of the old Astro crops), but if they come out with them, you should definitely give 'em a try! Patagonia's business ethics are second-to-none and their return policy is rock-solid, too. Of course, the operate on the traditional seasonal model, so even if they expand the line, it could be months between "uploads" - ;) Hard to quench the lulu fix anywhere else...
12:54 PM good point on the s/s Swiftly you can see lace on the front. I originally thought it was the SE Lace Swiftly in polar cream, but it isn't. I have that one and the lace goes up the sides front & back, and there are no vertical lines down the middle of the back. So maybe a different SE Swiftly?
Reply to moth ball smell, try vinegar in the wash 1/2 or 1/4 cup. I also throw in some baking soda. One time my husband's shirt had the worst BO smell under the arms and used a baking soda paste and let it sit, did work. Also letting it hang outside (not in sun) may help. Good luck :)
I have noticed that the newest inspires don't seem to have the same compression ability like the old inspires. They kind of bag out on me - and I went down a size!
The average American consumer has a problem with equating thin to cheap. That is not always the case. You can have thin fabrics that are good quality. Besides, the last thing I want in workout apparel is a heavy, thick fabric. Now, that being said, there are some fabrics that should be thicker, say like a French terry. Bottom line, you can't always assume that a fabric is cheap if it is thin.
There is very little I buy anymore from Lululemon, its really sad because I used to have something in the mail every week with at least two trips per month to the store. The last think I bought was socks a week ago, and before that was well before christmas!
When I am finding better quality for lesser prices at other stores like Running Room on other brands, I just can't justify spending the money on Lululemon. I am so sad, because I love some of my items, but if they are nixing the running capries (Nice thick material, oh how I loved thee) then forget it, I will take my money elsewhere.
Question on Pacesetter shirt. I am size 4 in Grooves and most Lulu crops. Does Pacesetter skirt run TTS? Should I order a Size 4 or size down/up? Please advise.
@anon 7:42PM- I think the new inspires (new meaning the ones with the older waistband e.g. bleached coral) feel like the same thickness a amy inspires from a year or so ago (Paris pink, Indigo space dye, etc). At first I thought tit felt a little different, but having washed them, my bleached coral/dune'black ones are indistinguishable from my Paris pink, indigo space dye and other older inspires.
@anon 3:47PM- I have cellulite, too. I still wear WUs though. I do stay away from certain pairs. For example, I tried the new bonded black/pop orange WUC, which are reversible to all black, and I could see my cellulite in a terrible way-and I sized up. I have the reversible tender violet ones, herringbone, black, pow purple, and I haven't had an issue with any of those. If I really look for it, I can see it, but not enough to make me think I look really gross:-)
alot of that thin wrinkly stuff is recycled poly (like wearing plastic bottles); wonder how much BPA/BPS etc. are sinking into our skin? toxic clothing? hum i wonder- also i've read that they use huge amounts of water to make the recycled materials- can you say water conservaton anyone? hum seems like not such a good deal to me? i prefer organic cotton (not super thin either); wool bamboo even hemp makes great fiber? why doesn't lulu try and use more "real" eco friendly fabrics? Well till people start asking for it it won't happen- btw all these super light pastels are getting old- some jewel tones would be nice a pretty emrald green out peecock blue/green would be really nice huh? ciao
@anon 7:16 am - I agree. Since I live in Southern California and work out a lot in a gym a lot being too hot is a problem for me. I actually prefer luxtreme pants that are not too thick as long as you cant see my underwear when i am running. One of my favorite tops is the 105F singlet, which is super thin. A big reason I love lululemon is because they have have such breathable fabrics.
Gah, that had a bunch of typos in it. I don't know if the US drives the too thin comments. One reason I think lulu moved to making more tops out of light luon was because the people in the US get hot working out, since we're more south, in full weight luon tops.
The reason I started buying Lulu WU crops because they're not as thin as those colorful $20 leggings I used to wear when I started yoga. I don't even mind the price or the increase in price as long as their quality up to par or at least stay consistent. But the recent WU crops and pants have been very sheer. CRBs are getting thinner and thinner. How could less fabric, sheerer, shorter, outsource to other countries = higher price? The math just doesn't add up. Hopefully Lulu will listen to our feedback and bring back the old formula for Luon. Luon light is not as flattering, even on those who told me they prefer Luon light. I go to yoga every day and teach yoga twice a week, I still haven't seen anyone who looks amazing wearing Luon light Power Y.
I can weigh in on the thin fabrics comment. I tried on the fish-butt crops, and I thought I was going to rip them when putting them on. The circle mesh was WAY delicate, and the luxtreme was barely there. I wondered if that would be better for warm temps, but I couldn't get past how they just seemed cheaper and thinner, way too delicate for the kind of wear and tear of being pulled on and off over and over.
In the Flow Crop, I tried them on tonight and they are tts. Same size as all my other crops and shorts. Both Black and Green were almost gone, very popular. However, I did not buy them as the quality is substandard, it's so apparent. They are no where near as good quality as the Ebb & Flow i. The E&F ii's sucked, way too sheer, as are these. The seamless construction (inside the legs excepted) is something I love and there are nice details on these, but I decline to be suckered or blindly support LLL's new substandard quality. I left with no purchase.
@3:47 I agree with @11:28 I also have cellulite (doesn't 99%?) but black Or dark colors are great! Another thing to keep in mind is the WUs used to be thicker and of better quality! Meaning hides much better... I don't have any light colored WUs.
@ 2:42 PM, how rude it stinks of mothballs! You can try sportsuds. You can request a free sample. Can look up a local retailer on their site. http://www.sportsuds.com/index.htm
Can be used for handwash or machine. Note, if you use this in your washing machine, you need to run a sportsuds wash alone before you run your clothes through. It will take off prior residue in your machine (even if you can't see it), otherwise it'll affect your wash.
@ Dixie, nice one on the marked down Black Swan CRB. Have it as well and I love Black Swan.
Lululemon already did the whole organic/sustainable fabrics years ago and it flopped. They still occasionally bring out organic cotton or bamboo pieces but not like before. Look up OQOQO.
If the smell is still there after you wash it, you can try soaking it in water with vinegar. This helps get the smell out from workout clothes that get stinky after a lot of sweating in them so maybe it would get rid of the mothball smell as well.
yey i know the do occasionally and your wrong they don't flop- they sell but last go around the crops were see thru- you'll be hard prssed to find a distributor that makes a nice thick cotton organic or otherwise notice how tee's are all slubbed? or papyer thin its not because consumer want this its because its a way to conseal inflation!!!!!! Beleive me or not don't care- i've spent HOURS doing research on this subject! anyhow there are alot of chemically sensitive people and/or REAL environmentalists out there that sourse out natural fibers and i am just saying it would be nice if lulu offered more in this niche market- charge fair market prices too (which is high btw)!!!!!!!!!!
cotton gets heavy when it gets wet, and it loses shape. I think it may be fine for light workouts, but if you get wet and it's cold outside those cotton fibers make you clammy and they cling and don't breathe well when soaking wet, especially if you use them as a base layer. wool and nylon work the best.

Bought the hook-m-up bra and paceshorts last night (black shorts and coral bra) and they're great
The bra in particular is a great low support medium coverage bra for my 36Ds. It will be great for yoga.
Please advise on In Stride Jacket sizing. Do I go with my Define size or size down for more fitted look?> I'm pretty slim, wear 12-14 ivivva and 2-4 in Lululemon depending on item. thanks
Does the bra flatten you out or add shape?
I think the swiftly SS is actually dune, not white. I saw them in store. Really pretty with the lace design.
Sorry....it seriously all looks ugly. Miss the old Lulu!! :(
This is off topic but I bought a LS everyday yogi tee of eBay. It stinks like mothballs. How do I get the smell out?

Would love to hear more fit reviews for the Ebb and Flow Racerback Bra :)

The fresh teal shorts and skirt are not my cup of tea. They do not look good quality. There is nothing enticing about these outfits IMO.
Boring....guess I'm partial to jewel tones.

@3:47
Thanks for the headsup on the headbands. I would want one with a nice pattern too.
Great deal on the black swan crb markdown!!
@3:47 I agree with @11:28
I also have cellulite (doesn't 99%?) but black Or dark colors are great! Another thing to keep in mind is the WUs used to be thicker and of better quality! Meaning hides much better... I don't have any light colored WUs.
my last 2 trips to the store i left empty handed nothing excites me
@ 2:42 PM, how rude it stinks of mothballs!
I'm a 4 in every bottom except the dance studios (wear a 2 in the newer ones) and my pacesetter 4s fit perfect!
