Is Pantsgate Real? Anyone Actually Returned a Pair? (Updated)

Ha, ha - I'm not amused.
I belong to three lululemon Facebook fan groups with over three thousand members between them. Moverover, this blog typically gets 65,000+ unique visitors a month (94,000+ for this past month) and I have yet to read a comment that someone took back a pair of the recalled pants. I know when I went to the store a few days ago there was no empty shelf space where black pants should be - there were ton of pants, both colored and black in the cubbies. I've read lots of comments that people took in pants that they thought were sheer only to find they weren't part of the recall but still not a single pair actually part of the recall. I find this odd since the pants were on the shelves for nearly three weeks before the problem was discovered. I guess it could be the case most of the recalled pants hadn't hit the floor yet (but the press releases and Day in the conference call made it sound like the problem was discovered only once the pants had hit the floor). However, I have to ask is Pantsgate a smoke screen to lower expectations for future sales? I found an interesting comment on one of the numerous media articles:

"This whole pants issue is being exaggerated and used as an excuse to pull their numbers way down from where they were for Q1 and year. Only 17% of pants supposedly effected, Yet they pull Q1 Rev down $20-$25MM and Full Year down $45 to $50MM and earnings down Around $0.27c from $2.25 for year to $1.98 or so. Do the math, what a joke, they should be able to have these pants fully restocked in a month at most, yet Revenes in Q3 and Q4 will be affected ? - BS ! Is there a slight issue with these pants - Yes, but they saw their numbers were slowing and are making this the only headline - otherwise with sales trends as they are organically (maybe 10% comp sales) going forward, stock would have dropped $10 to $15 today. The pants issue will be fully resolved in 6 weeks at most, and now they magically have reduced full year guidance by over 10% - what a joke !"

Have any of you actually returned a pair that were part of the recall?

Update - Thanks for all the comments. It looks like people have returned pants. From reading the comments it seems some stores were affected more heavily than others and I wonder whether we'll see a heavier impact as styles that were supposed to be put out later are part of the affected batches. Also, it seems like lululemon is really bending over backwards to make people happy, even with purchases earlier than the March 1st date, so if you have a pair of bottoms you feel are too sheer to live with you might want to try contacting them. Satisfied customers will come back and spend more money so this is a good move.

I did. A pair of solid black wu crops. They fit smaller and were very sheer; no problem returning even though I already wore them.

Yep! I returned a pair yesterday, the sales girl was a total sweetheart and took them back without any problems. I had the receipt for them too though and it was actually from last week. I have two other pairs from a couple months ago that ARE completely sheer and almost like thin nylons or something- they suck, I ordered them online and had no store around me where I was at the time so that is the only reason I kept them. I haven't tried to return them yet because obvsiouly they weren't from the date of the recall, but they ARE see thru and they are pictured on LuluMum's page of recalled pants. So I might try to take them back.

@ anon 11:42 am - Thanks!!! Are you a regular lulu buyer? Things have been sheer for awhile so I am wondering how they compared to previous pants. The press releases made it sound like they were super sheer. Were they sheer just standing upright?

I emailed GEC this morning to return a pair of sheer red stripped ones bought before Pantsgate. I'm waiting to hear back. I've heard of other girls emailing Lulu directly and they've sent them a gift card and return postage - no questions asked, no bend over test. I'm still waiting to hear back.

Anonymous said...

The pants that were part of the recall were so sheer that when you put them on, you could see your skin through the pant BEFORE doing a bent test!! Way more so than the already sheer pants in the stores.

I retuned 3 pairs no problem at all!

my local store has absolutely ZERO black luon pants/capris on their shelves. No grooves, no wunder unders, nothing.

I am a huge Lulu fan and used to make a purchase at least once a week. I went in last week and tried on three different crops - two different In the Flows and a pair of Pace Crops in black - which I found all 3 to be sheer. I could see the color of my underwear when I started to bend over - and I mean just starting to lean forward, not touching my toes or anything more intense than that. This was probably the third time in a month I had tried on a crop/pant and discovered they were too sheer for my liking (I had returned a different pair earlier in February for the same reason). Perhaps more buyers have been trying on items before leaving the store with them, and therefor the returns numbers aren't as inflated as everyone thought they would be. I know when I was asked why I wasn't taking anything with me, I was very clear that the pants were too sheer and I could not wear them running or in a gym atmosphere.

So interesting! I absolutely think they've been hurting... think about all the commenters who have said, "I didn't buy anything on this upload." I read all your comments and all of us who are big buyers have definitely slowed. Thanks for all your updates luluaddict!

I am not amused either.

Poor taste. Making light of an issue that is upsetting to longtime customers.

I have actually stopped going in to stores for a while now. I used to get in about once a week, but now, about once every four months or so just to browse.

I've also noticed that most of the educators that I've known for the last 3-4 years have left. Maybe 2 remain, all the rest are new employees.

Good to know people have actually returned some pants. Have these all been solid black ones or did they have colors on the waistbands?

@ anon 11:54 am - Thanks! You would think that's what it took before lululemon would actually admit they had a problem with their pants - sheer when standing up.

Weird about some stores that have no black pants. Mine had at least some in the GRooves, WU, etc but they were ones with waistband colors that came out before March.

I actually returned a pair of Alberta Lake Organic Wunder unders yesterday that I bought last fall that were TOTALLY sheer and I felt I couldn't wear outside. They took them!

I haven't returned any, but I didn't buy the bleached coral grooves that I really wanted this past weekend as I could totally see the tag through them. EEK!

I called about my WU crops I bought the first week of Feb - I think its their 123 spring color. Had no issues with them sending me a return slip to ship them back. I wasn't sure if I was going to as I didn't think they were that bad as I don't wear granny undies ( I mean that in a nice way) and I didn't notice much.( (Also didn't want to wait forever for them to hit stores again) Until just now I asked my husband to take a pic with the flash on with me and some bright undies (granny ones) and WOW he laughed and said you can see everything! Yup, getting the box sealed and sending them back. I'm not sure if this will be worth the wait for more to come instock.

With the new Embody crops hitting stoes are they not sheer? Are they not black with block color? I'm confused?

My story's shelves are looking very bare! Basically as bare as the website - no grooves, Astros, WUs...
And I hadn't even heard that Astros were effected.
I haven't returned any, but hadnt purchased any lately

I bought a pair of black WU in early March and decided against returning them. They are on the sheer side, I had on undies with polka dots and you could see the dots. But I've worn them with black underneath and they are fine. Not nearly as sheer as some of the pictures I've seen on here.

I want to add...Im a Lulu customer of 13 years. I was buying Lululemon at a ladies boutique, that sold some Lulu pieces, when no one on the planet new what Lulu was. Back when ALL Lulu...was "made in Canada." Had many pairs of Grooves over the years and sold all of them to buy the latest Lulu. When issues bagan 3 years ago with pilling, sheerness and bleeding...I started selling off all the bad stuff and became VERY CAREFUL with future purchases. I stopped getting up at 2am to look at uploads and I held on to SOME of my vintage Lulu. :)

I've only had to call Lulu a few times regarding defective items and every time, it was at least a week of emailing & many calls...before I finally got any resolutions. They always were rude and unprofessional. (GEC) Nice, at first...but not really wanting to replace their defective items. They would always tell me...."not happy with the quality, then send it back, but you have to pay to send it back!" I had to argue and argue to get them to send me a return label!

I rarely call them anymore, partially due to the fact I was tired of their BS! So...instead of my monthly $500-$1200 Lulu spending, I pretty much stopped buying! I would only buy when I absolutely needed something...like a 911 emergency item. Now I focus on wearing my vintage Lulu and buy barely $500 every 7 months. I've really cut back....because I wanted my dollars or lack of dollars, going to Lulu...to speak volumes!

In the last 2-3 weeks, Ive had a few Lulu items crap out on me. I called Lulu just to give them feedback, not expecting anything!!! I wanted nothing from them. I barely got out of my mouth...what I had purchased and how it fell apart and they were apologizing and issuing me a gift card! I was like whhhhhat? She didn't even want proof, I bought the item....!! (I still gave her the proof anyways) It's a shocker that a company like Lulu, use to give me a hard time over an exchange or return over the phone and now...NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Here's a gift card! "We want to make you happy and keep you a loyal, happy customer!" (This is what she said to me the 2-3 times I had to call) What a change from what I had experienced in previous years!! It's like they finally woke up and realized, all their good customers were gone! Never in my LIFE....has Lulu ever told me to keep a defective item and do what I want with it...and ohhhh here's a GC for the entire amount! shocking really!! Desperate times for Lulu I guess! It was by far...the BEST Customer service Ive ever received!

I returned a pair of black wunder under pants, toasty tech tights and invert crops due to sheerness. The wunder unders were purchased in October.

Yeh i knew they'd blame something for low sales numbers- knew it! instead of blaming poor designs- like shortened hemlines/bad hemline designs, lack of the detail that lulu is known for (ruffles, body mapping A-line cuts etc.) they've got to find a scape goat because god forbid should ms. day get canned O- no she'll drag this company down down down. too bad to to witness it its such a train wreck- i can't stand that women seriously if she had an cahonies she'd amit she's in over her head and find a replacement someone from a background in yoga and or dance/fitness etc. that is super fit and knows what we want and goes back to the lulu asthetic and doesn't comprimise- never happen though!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

so there's no problem returning without a receipt? I got a pair of crops in black and I tried them in the sunlight and you can see my leg through them. I don't think I have the receipt though.

educator here - it really depends store to store. the affected batch(s) could have been sent to different stores. i know at my location we are really low on the smaller sizes but still have some non affects luon in the larger sizes. we actually one night had to try on all the luon bottoms in store to sort thru them

Okay, I am not impressed with that window display. Its mocking us for even considering their sheer pants! Is that really a store window?

Anonymous said...

i think some have been returned but i agree with you 100% lla, this was a smoke screen - there is tons of back stock on core products in all stores at all times - the sheerness has been an on-going and known problem within lll, # and store traffic are down - in keeping with the culture, they shifted responsibility for that - in my opinion. also, they must read the larger blogs (like this one) if not they are not that bright - they are always looking for ground level guest feedback - in store educators are coached to listen to guest conversations so i just can't believe they would miss a goldmine of candid feedback as anyone would find here - so to claim that they just became aware of a sheerness issue 3 weeks ago is just silly - it's a smoke screen and i guess one played well by lll once again.

Anonymous said...

My store was fully stocked and full of people! There was a woman trying on a pair of black wu's that were noticeably sheer while she was standing up. Wanted to say something, but she was with her bf, so figured he would tell her.
I have not returned any because I have been checking before buying for quite awhile now.

Anonymous said...

If your pants are sheer-bring them back in regardless of when you bought them. the lululemon team wants you to be happy- if your pants are colored they never guarantee that the pants are not sheer at all-this is the nature of some of the colors- if you have a pant that you bought that you don't think is up to quality standrds-take it back-nobody will make you do a bend test they will just exchange them.

Anonymous said...

The loss is projected to be greater than the recall because of the loss of potential new customers. Buyers may stay away from lulu given all this fuss. Shareholders have reason for concern.

Anonymous said...

A friend gave me a pair of the astro crops with the beaming blue lacoflage/chevron band for Christmas and they are sheer when bending over (like you can totally see and read the tag kinda sheer)... I only just realized. I never did a bend over test until now because I thought the sheer problems were limited to colored pants.

I wonder how much trouble I would have returning these. Anyone able to return pre-march black pants?

Anonymous said...

I completely agree with the above media comment - this whole "17% recall / bad batch of luon issue" is being over exaggerated.

I'm not saying that the most recent batch of luon pants aren't defective (more sheer than what we have come to expect from Lulu lately) and Lulu isn't taking some returns, but they are taking advantage of the situation, creating a massive recall marketing campaign with sole purpose to deflect attention from many other prevalent, longer term issues that are truly driving revenues down.

Loyal Lulu followers know the declining revenues / earnings are a result of far more than a single bad luon production run and have been perpetuating for months now .... declining product quality (sheerness, fabric pilling after one wear, stitching issues, color bleeding), cheaper designs to reduce production costs (triangle gussets, shorter versions of jackets, tanks), elimination of staple items (defines, strides, still pants) in some cases replaced with generic looking designs (forme, daily yoga) and overall price gauging for declining, inferior products.

We've been complaining for months to Lululemon begging for improvements to little avail - finally the revenue results are starting to show .....

I was able to return a pair of astro wunder unders in black purchased early March 2013 and a pair of inkwell astro wunder unders (the flash stripe on the waist) purchased around February 2013. They were willing to take both back.

They looked me up for my receipt (proof that I got it from lulu, I guess, as opposed to ebay or whatever) in the system. Mine still had tags on them, even.

I'm offended by that store display. Bad taste lulu.

Last week I bought a pair of Run For Your Life Crops on Final Sale - black with chevron at the waist. This was my first purchase of running crops. They didn't seem sheer in the store but they were very sheer in the gym lighting. I've been buying lulu for the past 3 years and have many, many pairs of shorts and swiftly tops; just a few pants. This is the first sheerness I've experienced. I contacted GEC and was told "a bit of sheerness is normal due to muscle support properties of the fabric" For anyone that has these crops, is this normal???

Anonymous said...

The pants have been sheer for a while now. I haven't bought any in many months. All of the quality is declining. I got a pacesetter and the waist was loose and the bottom flared out really badly. It's just ridiculous! And to hear people on here say that the pants are sheer, but they can live with it is just crazy (I'm sorry if I offend). These are not 20.00 pants! It is unacceptable. I'm happy that I have a lot of older stuff, it USED to be the among the best work out gear. No longer.

Not amused by the window display or the play on words for the problem. Way to objectify women LLL. Way to fuel the creepy troll guys who have made comments on any news story.

Would I be able to take back my Ebb & Flow ii's? I know they're not Luon but they are bad.

I took my ebb and flows worn twice with no tag or receipt and they took them back yesterday. They were totally see thru.

The GEC are allowing me to send back a pair of luxtreme crops bought before March 1, because they are sheer. They are unworn, tags still on and I am not sure if that mattered or not.

I visited the Boulder, Co store today with my hubby. The front window proclaimed, "No shortage of yoga pants here," and looked to be true. They had WUCs & pants and no empty cubbies or thin spots on the floor, and they had a full complement of groove shorts; some had been there so long they were covered in dust bunnies!

I tried on several things, but before I tell ya what I think, remember, I'm 8 mos pregnant. So, I tried the Tame Me & loved it, but I did size up! I tried it last year & it was ok, but not good enough to buy. I almost didn't try on the mellow lemon CRB, but since I was sizing up I did & it's a good thing, since it was on the sheer size. I also picked up a shell pink Swiftly SS on MD.

As for pants, I tried several & the only ones I could take home were some original Groove Crops I found on MD. I also tried the black In The Flows, orange Ebb & Flows & inkwell gingham WUS & they were all sheer! I took my regular TTS in the ITFs b/c that's what I've been wearing in the E&F, but these were so sheer I didn't even have to bend over to see tru them! Holy sheer city, batman! I could see completely thru them. I didn't even pull the E&Fs on all the way, as they were awful, showing every lump & bump. I sized up in the WUCs & thought surely they would be fine. I was wrong. I could see my undies thru them! I was sorely disappointed.

I think the windows are genius! Anyone who knows lululemon knows that they are all about starting up conversations and this totally makes them seem accessible and apologetic for the inconvenience they caused to their customers.
They took back a pair of my groove pants from before christmas without any questions. Although I am disappointed with the quality issues, I think they have really stepped up their customer service and that in the end we will be able to expect the luon we love again

Anonymous said...

Lulu is genius! Sales were already off, there were issues with earnings so they do a recall in a qtr. that already stnk. Nike nor Adidas would ever do that . Most all their pants are sheer! Tons of new buyers and free media coverage for lulu .Sales are up! I was In a store and 2 new customers came in asking if this is the company with the naked pants, they shopped. A whole new crop of customers are curious driving them into stores.

Can anyone comment on the new Dune colored Astros? I love my Dune DSPs and would live the Astros, but I'm afraid they'll either be sheer or be unflattering showing all your lumps and bumps.... :/

I took back some navy invert crops that were soooo see though. I didn't have a receipt I had to get a gift card. I guess i'll hav eto wait until quality goes up. Has anyone had any problems with the gather and crow pinstripe crops?

I had terrible customer service when I called as recently as a month ago. I've sworn off online Lulu shopping and now only go into the stores.

@ anon 4:14pm - I bought the same exact pair of RFYL crops on Final Sale last month. (My first pair of that style!) I got a call back from the Studio City store tonight telling me those crops were not affected by the recall and can not be returned. Frustrating since I did try them on before purchasing but found them on the sheer side in the lighting of my kickboxing studio. They've lost a loyal customer in me.

Anonymous said...

I bought ebb & flow crops in flare. They are stunning but completely sheer. I have dark skin so it isn't as bad as they would be on someone lighter but there's no way I can go outside like that. Yes they were sheer in the store, but I figured maybe I'd wear a longer shirt to cover my butt. And now that so much attention has been brought to the issue of sheerness and lululeom I feel like it'll be super noticable "hey look at the idiot in her sheer lulus". I'll try to return them tomorrow and will report back.

Anonymous said...

Omg! Your toasty techs were sheer???
I just wore mine on a mud run today-everyone in my group had a look at my arse because "these" pants were from lulu! Not a one said they were sheer.

There are no stores available where I'm from. Anyone knows how we can make returns in this case?

Anonymous said...

There is nothing wrong with the pants themselves, a lot of guests I have spoke with opt to keep their affected pants because they don't use them for yoga, therefor are not worried about the sheerness when you bend over. When the store had to go through and test them, we bent all the way over to verify. Stores will take a return no problem if you are unhappy!

Anonymous said...

Running tights will ALWAYS BE SHEER! That is the nature of the material, you can feel it when you touch them and anyone working there would tell you that!

Beyond Yoga is capitalizing on the Lulu sheerness issue. I received an email that said:

'we've got you covered- our values are transparent, our bottoms are not. Designed with your comfort in mind. Wear our pants, leggings and Capri with confidence.'

Also it is designed and produced in Los Angeles. I don't work for BY but I'm in need of new black yoga groove-like pants. Have not bought any black pants from Lulu in 2 years. I remembered going in a lulu store 4 months ago and asked the GEC if I could try on their WU. She's gave me 1 pair in my size. I asked her politely if I could try on the entire stack that was in the cubbie and she was very nice and said sure. I must have tried on 15 pairs. The only pairs that were not thin and see through we're the Black Silver WU and brushed.

Has anyone bought BY lately to comment. Thanks

I only started buying lulu last summer but was able to grab some amazing pieces before I noticed the quality decline. What I initially loved was the in store experience. The educators were amazing and really able to guide you in making great purchases. My first time walking into the store I spent $300. I remember thinking that the inspire crops were magical. It was ridiculous to spend that much money on clothes for the gym, but my magic pants weren't leaving my side and I did not return or exchange anything.
Anyway, yesterday I went in wearing a black tame me tank and picked up another color. When the educator came over to help, I told her that I already loved it, I just finished working out in it and was just going to grab another color in the same size. She asked me how I liked the support. Then the person at the register asked if I needed cups for it. I sincerely miss the days of the educators knowing what they were talking about. I can only imagine how long time lululemon buyers are feeling.
Sorry for the novel.

I agree with others here... the wondow display is of poor taste and offending.

everyone is entitled to their own taste regarding window displays, but please know that each lulu store is entitled to poke fun at itself in the signature irreverent way however THEY would like. this particular sense of humor is not indicative of all stores.

I returned a pair of groove pants from September that had awful piling and were looking really worn out for only being a couple of months old. I contacted the GEC and they sent me a return label and said they will issue a gift card. No problems, no questions asked. I was not expecting such great customer service based on what I have heard, so I was definitely pleasantly surprised.

Anonymous said...

I have the same crops but with the flower print waist - and mine are sheer when I bend over. I didn't notice in the store either (and I bought them on final sale).

Anonymous said...

I have to share something awful I just heard. A friend of mine who used to be completely unaware of lululemon asked, very innocently, "But wouldn't this make Lulu fans buy more? Because they secretly want people to stare at their butts?"

That comment alone made me reach for my Nike crops over my usual lulus this morning.

Btw, I completely agree with the slowing organic sales comment. Management pulls tricks like this all the time, not just retail companies. They "wag the dog" so investors don't know quite how to react. The truth of the matter is though, no matter how you spin in, LULU NEGATIVELY PRE-ANNOUNCED. This is outrageous and unheard of for the most expensive retail stock in the universe. And trust me, even if there is a delayed reaction, there will be a reaction as the market absorbs the fast one that Ms. Day pulled at the cost of brand image and integrity.

Thanks for the input on returning the E&F ii's; I will give it a try. I hate them and don't wear them. They are nothing like the E&F i.

I have several LLL running crops and a couple of tights and pants. They should not be sheer when you are standing up, running. They may be slightly sheer when you bend over. They're designed to give you a second skin feeling, which I truly appreciate. I actually don't have any complaints with sheerness for running crops, even when bending.

The girl in front of me in yoga today was wearing totally sheer black/deep coal (I couldn't tell the color - they were that bad) wunder under crops. So sheer I could see her blue thong through them. I spent most of class wondering if I should tell her then she left before I could.

That got me thinking: is there an etiquette for telling a woman her pants are see-through? I know I'd want to know but also know some people might find that offensive.

I recently bought and returned a pair of BY crops because the color was different online than in real life. The return process was terrible and took forever. I had to call them to get the return voucher, call them to confirm they received the returned crops, call them to ask when I'd get my money back (they said 10 business days), then call them after 10 business days had passed and I still hadn't received my money. After 4 wks, I got my money back. Needless to say, I will never buy their product again unless I can buy it via Nordstrom.

Can I still return my Ebb and Flow Crop II which I bought in Jan 2013?

Anonymous said...

Went to the store today. I bought two pairs of leggings and two tops....returned my herringbone crops (fraying seams).

I was surprised to see that both the inspire crop in wee deep space and the WU inkwell pinstripe were in my size. Both of them were unique. The inkwell pinstripe might be a little sheer, but I need to do some downward dogs in some good light....no wonder you can't tell if the pants are sheer in the store...the lighting is terrible! I'm not one to go out on the main store and start analyzing my butt!

Karma pants....oh my god....please do not order online. The cut and color is amazing, but I literally gasped out loud when I saw my butt. Even in really poor light, you could see EVERYTHING! It looked like pink pantyhose! It would have been an easy purchase if the material was thick. It needs to get off the rack ASAP. I told an educator, and asked them to try it on later so they could see what I was talking about.

Dune/Gingerham WU crop were really small...you need to go up size.

Bought the Practice freely in Dune. I returned the White/Dune Gingerham one a month or so ago because it was sheer and looked cheap...The material is a little thicker and I like the all dune color much better.

I also bought the flow n go in white. I have a 32 C/D chest and it was comfortable and much more support than I thought it would. Top stayed down when I did yoga too.

I took a pair back last week and it was super easy. I wasn't asked to bend over or anything crazy. I hope the issue is fixed quickly. It was actually my first ever pair of lulu bottoms (I have had an obsession with their tops for like 3 years) and was pretty pleased with the way they felt and fit.

I returned my Ebb and Flow II's today. After a song and dance from the girl at the cash, she said they weren't recalled since they aren't luon, but I wasn't having it! The manager came over and was nice about it, she gave me a gift card for it. It was gift card or exchange for the same item!

Re: Pantsgate. There are current reviews under the Astro Pant attesting to the sheerness of light colours (Dune), bad quality of the fabric, different texture. Sounds like the same texture people have spoken to regarding the black ones that were recalled (I think a store employee wrote the other day that they knew they were bad as soon as they felt the material).

Seriously, continuing to leave these pants on the website and/or in stock in the store, get a clue LLL! Dumbest executives ever!!!

@12:43 PM, it's too awkward to bring it up with someone you don't know. I'd only offer my opinion if I was directly asked if they are see-through. At this point if you haven't vetted the see-through factor at home before going out in public/to the studio, that's a terrible mistake. On the other hand, maybe someone wasn't organized about their underwear that day (agreed, ridiculous, but I do it too, some crops or pants call for it). Or some people just don't care if it looks indecent.

I made a previous comment about calling the GEC and describing a few items to them...I had that were defective and they issued me a gift card ASAP! no questions asked. Id also like to add, the items I called about..we're NOT pants, but were item accessories for working out. So they seem to be willing to help with ALL concerns, at this point. I was shocked...all the times I called, that they were so willing to offer me GC to compensate! :) It's good to know anyways! (mind you, they did look at my account and SEE how much Ive ordered in the past 2 years and the girl remarked, "WOW...you order A LOT!")

I wanted to get the inkwell inspires and decides against them because they were so sheer- worse than normal luxtreme . I ended up getting the wee are from space inkwell indigo combo and those seem fine as far as sheerness. The pattern helps!

Wow-- that's usually NOT the norm! I've been buying BY longer than I have lulu, and usually returns are processed & credited within 2 weeks after I mail them back

@ anon at 8:40 PM Inspire crops are made out of Luxtreme which is thinner than luon on purpose! It will always be on the sheer side! Educate yourselves people OR try asking someone because they are totally different materials meant for totally different uses!

I returned a pair of WU pants that I had only purchased a week before I heard about the recall, tags still on so I had no problems. I knew they were part of the recall because I saw them online (dune with bleached coral stripe waistband)just days before I bought them, and they disappeared from the website after the recall. I probably would have kept them otherwise; they didn't seem too sheer but I couldn't live with owning a pair of recalled pants. When I returned them the salesperson whispered something to the other one and I saw her bring it straight to the back of the store. I have been buying Lulu for almost 7 years now and own stock and am extremely disappointed by all the issues I've experienced and heard about. Another one that is bothering me is inconsistent sizing. I've noticed big differences in same size but different color Flow Y bras and Pace Setter skirts I've purchased recently. When trying on the new faded zap skirt, the 4 reg was so much looser than a 4 reg white one I already had that I had to go with a 2 tall. Was told by the salesperson that "it happens when it's a different color." Yes I still bought, but it was not what I'd expect from Lulu. I have to be a lot more careful now. Very sad. :(

I returned two pairs of WU Crops to the South Coast Plaza store. The educator was very sweet about it - no questions asked and gave me a gift card.

Deviating from Pantsgate, I recently returned a pair of WU in coal to LLL because they started to pill after a single wash and wear. The first sales assistant that I encountered actually told me that "pilling is perfectly normal in high traffic areas after one wear". I asked if she was willing to have her name attached to that statement and she fended me off to her manager who was extremely helpful and gave me store credit on the pants despite no receipt.
An interesting observation during this exchange was that a lot of the pants that were pulled off the website for sheerness was still available in this particular store

I returned a pair of ebb and flows ii in inkwell. No questions. Pretty sheer in the bum area. Received a giftcard... Bought the Prescense pant. No receipt or tags. One store I hate returning stuff to is the Glendale Americana store. That used to be my go to lulu store, but they staff has seemed unenthusiastic lately. Like even with tags and a receipt they give you a bunch a grief! Like you see me in here at least twice a month... Really! Not anymore ill take my money elsewhere. I like going to stores where the staff are helpful and have a good energy. Pasadena, robertson and Beverly Hills seem to consistently have that

Run for your life crops are not luon, not part of the recall, the run pants are a thin-ish material, as you were told, and they are not sold to do yoga in (bends etc) so if you are doing that kind of thing with them expect sheerness.

luxtreme tends to be sheer, especially if you size down. It is thin so it can breathe and wick sweat. lustreme is great for spin, running and high cardio activities.

I returned two pairs of wunder unders no questions asked. The educator couldnt apologize enough and was more than helpful trying to help me find something else that could potentially replace them ! I bought them at West Edmonton Mall, in the end I ended up just taking the gift card to wait it out for my pants because they literally have no black luon in their store. People need to stop being so critical. The company in my eyes has done everything they can to make us customers Happy! Still love lulu :)

I am new to Lululemon and have never actually bought anything. I was interesting in purchasing a pair of WU but after reading a lot of comments saying their quality has been declining I have refrained from driving to a store (which is not close to where I live) to buy an expensive pair of pants that don't seem to be worth the price. After reading all the comments about the recalled pants I didn't see one comment about someone who was unable to get their money back through Lulu mention anything about trying to get a refund through their credit card company. I know Amex offers great customer service and will refund an you for an item a store will not or if you have lost the receipt. With that being said I know there is a cap to the amount of money they will refund you per month and per year. If I bad bought pants that were $80 and sheer and the store wouldn't issue me a refund in any way I would for sure contact my credit card company and complain. I think it is good to of course, connect Lulu directly and make them issue you the refund since it is their fault for the defective item but if after trying and trying with no avail and my credit card company would give me a refund then why not? at least you are getting your money back (even though im sure most of you would rather it be from Lulu). I would think a company, like Amex for example would would issue you the refund and then contact the company directly.

Even though I have never tried this I have read that some CC company's will do this so I think its worth looking into for some of you. After all, you work hard for your money and these items aren't cheap.

Just thought I would mention :)

From all I have read people are having no trouble getting refunds for pants they feel are too sheer to wear, even pants bought well before March 1st.

Glad to hear that but I was also just mention that as a general statement.

I know there were issues with bleeding in the past and as I am not 100% how Lululemon handled that issue since, like I said, I am new to LLL but just I would share that little tip in case anyone has any problem in the future possibly when their isn't a recall on an item and when LLL isn't being as lax on accepting returns on defective merchandise as they are now?
