I am back home now and got to visit the store for the first time in a couple of weeks. I tried on the new Digni Tee and Puri Tees. I didn't care for either. The Digni Tee is super long. I felt the curved hem in front made it look like I was wearing a loincloth and I hated how the hem looked hanging out from under a jacket, like shown in the above photo with the Rejuvenate jacket. I thought the fit was TTS. I also tried on the Puri Tee. The fit of that is a lot more boxy through the waist. I thought the fabric on both of these scratchy compared to my Manifest Burnout LS, which is super soft. The fabric content is very similar, though. Manifesto Burnout: 57% polyester, 36% viscose, 7% spandex. Dignit Tee: 55/39/6 and Puri Tee: 50/45/5.
I really liked the new Rejuvenate hoodie, particularly the large hood. I thought the fit was a snug TTS. The store I was at (El Segundo) only had the black version, though. I would like this in a bright color but not sure whether I could keep the Bleached Coral one clean. I still think the price is high.
I tried on the Heart Ease LS in the heathered black and really, really liked it. The high price and dull colors are deterring me right now from getting one but if a brighter color comes out I might indulge. It was super soft and very flattering. I love that the scooped neck lets your bra peep out. I thought the fit was a body skimming TTS.
I got my Layer Me LS and Rise and Shine Pullovers. I always fall for the looks of baseball style tops but I hate them on me. The Layer Me LS are going back. I do like the style and fit of the top and if you are in the market for a lightweight rulu ls I think this is a good one since it has a back zip pocket. The rulu weight is the same as in the Speedy Turtleneck, which I love. I've washed it a few times now and had no pilling. I liked the Bleached Coral Rise and Shine Pullover much better. It is also made of the lightweight running luon. I thought both pieces were TTS, with the Layer ME running a little roomier.
Frond vs. Paris Swiftly |
I tried on all three versions of the Frond Swiftlys and decided I like the tank the best. Most of my running is done in 60-degree and above weather so I get the most use out of Swiftly tanks. Some people have mentioned they thought the Frond felt thinner than other Swiftlys but that seems to vary but color. Reader Robin sent me a photo of the Frond Swiftly tank on top of a Paris Pink and they are the same length. I thought the top fitted a little looser than my other Swiftlys and when mine comes in the mail on Tuesday I'll make some comparisons, take some photos, and let you know.
I tried on the Cardio Kick tank and really liked it. If a solid version comes out I will seriously consider getting it. The front straps have a 1" piece of elastic inside, from the shoulder to the top of the bra portion that really holds the girls up. Stupid lulu doesn't mention this feature at all and the write up on the website called the support low, which is totally inaccurate. I'd call the support low-high or high-moderate, especially for busty women. This tank really seems to be cut for large busted women, D and above. One of my problems with tanks with built in bras is that I jiggle too much when I do cardio like the elliptical or spin but I felt I could wear this without any problems. I love the mesh back and the tank has a flattering scoop neck without being too revealing. All in all, a very nice, supportive tank for the gym for busty women.
I also tried on the Street to Studio Jacket which was really nice but 4" too short, even for my average 5'5" height. I liked the Warm Up Crew, too, but hated the rear zipper and $98 price tag. It also lacks thumbholes and I think, since it's brushed luxtreme, I'd probably wear it in cold enough weather that I would like the thumbholes so I could bring the sleeves over my gloves. If that goes on major markdown I would consider getting it but it would have to be a steep markdown.

I think the Heart Ease LS is overpriced for what it is and I really hate that the seams twist while you're wearing it! A lot of reviews and on Facebook groups have complained about that - and you can clearly see how twisted the seams are in the picture above, where the woman with the dark curly hair is standing back-on - look how twisted it is!! That would drive me nuts!!
I am not interested in anything LLL is putting out lately. I'm never going to buy the Pace Crop even if I can "get away" with it because I'm slim. Not into the the Jesus Fish on my butt look at all!
Lately all I've purchased is a few great things that went to wmtm and I'm glad I waited. I've stocked up on running and yoga crops in the past few years so I'll stick with them and maybe now, won't sell some of the ones I was planning to.
They can carry on with the junior looks and the deteriorated quality.
I was so sure I was going to buy the rejuvenate pullover today, but it was too plain to justify the price. HOWEVER, I was surprised that I loved the warm up crew in the ocean striped bleached coral. It was love at first sight when I saw pics online, and in person it didn't disappoint. It came home with me.
I tried on the DigniTee today in Dune, and I actually liked it. I liked how long it was. The round hem didn't bother me. I don't think I like it enough to buy it, but if it somehow went to WMTM, I'd consider it.
Thanks for your report LLA.
None of this stuff appeals to me. Good thing, I need to save some money. Bummer though.
I can't see to find a good replacement for lulu. Athleta / zobha don't really appeal to me. I just really want a vintage power y replacement.
Thanks for posting the picture of the frond and paris pink SL swiftlies together. I just bought the PP one from eBay and I was wondering why it seemed so short!
I did pick up the frond swiftly LS and I think it's one of the softer swiftly colors that lulu has released.
Thanks for telling us about the Cardio Kick tank's support level! I'm a D cup but don't normally like working out in tanks with built in bras due to lack of support, so this is great. I'm going to try it on next time I'm in store. I'm so over the color blocking though.
i stopped by a LL store today. i wasn't interested in anything new.......i thought id love the frond color but didn't. i don't know what's going on but....like the person above, i think i have enough to last me a long time.....im not giving in to these fads and such. i want core items in their original material.
Hater of the Pace crop here as well...boo to the striping all over the hips and butt, and yes, the unfortunate placing of the "Jesus fish" symbol on the butt. Just can't get past that every time I see a pic of it.
ditto on the cardio tank. I love the look and feel, but wish it came in solid colors!! or else, i'll have to settle for black.
Whew thank goodness I didn't return my lovely bleached coral energy bra! What a beauty! Love it!
Paired with my power class tee! So hot! Pop orange And concord grape look cute together!
A ebay seller has a pair of wunder under crops in mellow lemon has anyone seen these in the store?
@ anon 9:20 pm - I haven't seen them personally but I saw a photo of them posted today in one of my facebook groups so they are just hitting the stores now.
@ JEK - I'm having the same problem! Have been trying loads of other brands (which all, thankfully, seem to have much more liberal return policies than lulu) and have yet to find a suitable replacement. Bits and pieces will come close, but then the tanks won't have the cup liners (a must-have after nursing three kids!) or the logo screams "workout wear" or the fabric doesn't hide imperfections...the list goes on and on. Lulu did it so well for so long that I got spoiled. I honestly never thought I'd be trolling eBay for used workout clothes, but it's come to that.
I tried on a ton of stuff today..
I liked the heart ease LS.. I love polar haze, the fabric felt great.. but it was so sheer you could see the pattern on my bra.
I wasn't going to try the rejuvenate hoodie. Yet I managed to love it, was SUPER flattering if one is hour glassish, or even a little bottom heavy. I came home with bleached coral and black, my store had all colours and they were selling out fast. It was very much TTS.
I found a pair of run inspire ii crops in angel blue I had to have..
The previous pace skirt reviews had me no longer excited to try it... It turned out that the astro style waist band was super flattering on me. The material was wrinkly as heck, and I don't think it would ever not be. So I very much did not buy it.
I thought I wanted the layer me LS, was true to size, somehow the colour combo on the shoulders gave me linebacker shoulders. I had to leave it behind it was not flattering although I am not built up top.
Even with the R&D.. it was the most expensive lulu trip I've made in ages. Darn rejuvenate hoodie.
