Spotted in US Stores - Frond Groovy Run Shorts

Spotted in Chicago-area stores - Frond Groovy Run shorts. I think the gingham ones are the Creamsicle Pop ones that have been out for awhile but am not sure. I think the color code is BCBC/CPOP/POCR which might be Bleache Coral (maybe?) /Creamsicle Pop/Polar Cream but I am not sure. (Thanks to Ms. S. for the photo.)

Why does Chicago get RUNNING SHORTS in the winter, but Northern Caifornia doesn't get skirts??? Hello??? I'm pretty sure it's about 30 degrees warmer here!

Anonymous said...

LLA, you're right, they're the creamsicle pop gingham. I had had mine since october snd just sold them. Same polar accents and pop waist.

Anyone know if the frond is 2 or 4 way?

The gingham print looks like a napkin from the 40s.

I saw those popcycle cream shorts at the Union Square NYC store a month or so ago, it was one pair size 8. it sat there for a while, now it's gone, I thought it was strange that it was only one, it was stretch.
The green one is lovely but that style doesn't work on me.

I agree. I don't recall seeing pacesetter skirts in the two San Fran stores....I think I'm going to have to order the SHSM pacesetter online.

This reminded me of Lulu's quality changes:

Not sure if it's been brought up yet but maybe we could all sue Lulu for their shorter Scuba hoodies ;) and shorter, thinner, etc...

Which Chicago location??

So, I got my Ebb and Flow II today. Sooo sad but they will return. LOVE how they make my butt look.. its amazing... But, they are sheer, even in the black. I'm wearing black underwear and can see them and even the rip tag. These would be great for running... but definitly not yoga or any class that involves bending. I don't get the reviews that say they are not shear, unless people have absolutely no butt!

They are also that awful length (I'm 5'3) where people question whether you bought pants too short or if they are just really long crops. So sad. Lulu ruined a good thing with their cheapness

OT, but my Coal E&Fs just came in the mail. LOVE. I'm 5'6'', 140 and I usually wear between 6 and 8 in Lulu, so I got the 8s. They come down about 5 inches above my ankle, and they are NOT see through. My husband checked for me. He also loves the way they look. So glad I got them.

Do we know what Chicago area store this was? City or burbs?

I'm so in!

Does anyone regret their DHBH pullover purchase?!?

I Just got mine and love how snuggly it is but wonder if it's worth the 108$ price tag! I also sized up 2 sizes.....

@anon 12:51 - i think when you see only 1 of an item in store it is usually a return.

I ordered the inkwell and coal Ebb and Flow II crops and they arrived today. I tried them on and my husband said they looked good, and asked if they were sheer. At first he said no, but I bent over and he said they were a little bit. I had him take a picture with flash. You can see right through and see the underwear.

Ugh, I really wanted to love them. They feel really nice and comfortable, but sheer for almost $80 per pair? No, thanks.

i got 2 prs of E&Fs in store - inkwell and black - they are not see through and look amazing on!! maybe there are different batches? some more sheer than others. also, i heard the WHS on LI will have tons of stuff including sea wheeze stuff!

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing these were at Rush - checked Halsted today and they weren't there.

LLA - Are you running the seawheeze this year? You encouraged me to sign up - can't wait!

Dear J,
Please read all reviews in regards to the Ebb&Flow crops, I and II. The E&Fs are NOT sheer on some of us and yes we do have pretty and shapely butts! Just because it doesn't work onrilkip you, it can't work on any of us! For those of you that experience sheerness issue with the E&F, I am sorry. It is really one of the most comfortable lulu crops that I owned and I have three of the original and two of the current ones.

I hope there is a CRB in frond. It'll be great for St Patrick's day.

I do not get those gingham creamsicle pop shorts at all: it's the type of pattern for a baby girl's dress!

For some reason, the Frond Groovy shorts look unfinished to me, like they need a trim or something. This is what happens when Lulu puts trim on all their shorts, it ruins the solids because we're so used to a contrasting trim.

Anonymous said...

So strange how some people say sheer and some say not...... Just don't get it. Mine have not arrived yet and I ordered grey and inkwell.

Anonymous said...

Sad that new ebb & flows are too long for me. Hope they release the original length too.

Anonymous said...

OT E&F report... Inkwell just arrived in the mail. I wear a 2 or 4 in LLL and the 4s in these are sheer on me. :(

Eric said...

Why can't they release any mens stuff.. like 10 things on the website.

Anonymous said...

Ahhh the "Great debate"... SHEER OR NOT. I don't know about the new ones but I swear the old ones depended on the color for me. And I'm normally a street 0/2 and have a small butt and experienced sheerness with 2 out of 3 colors. I even checked the tags to see if they were made in different countries but I believe they all came from the same country. The ONE thing I do know is that you should best try them on in store, you can NOT trust ppl's reviews on the ebb and flow.

Anonymous said...

Do you think all the new shorts are made to replace the Run Turbo shorts? Those shorts are great for modest women with musclar legs!

Anonymous said...

Got both my coal and black e&f crops today. Can't tell the colors apart so I think the marketing was a bit of a scam to increase sales for the coal color. Not see through until I bent over and then holy Hannah! Nice bum lady!! Good thing I'm planning on using them only to run in. But I'll have to make sure to double tie my laces so I don't have to bend over and do them up again. Unless I want a cute guy to notice me...

The trick with putting on the Ebb & Flow is you have to sweep the fabric from the front to the back. After I pull on the crops, I use both my arms on the inside of the pants and starting in the front, sweep the fabric towards the back. You generally don't stretch out the front, only the butt part in down dog, squats, or child's pose. Therefore, bring a little more fabric to the backside. That's how I wear my Ebb & Flows. Except, this trick didn't work for the Flare color, still see through. The pants are super compressive, comfortable, breathable, and does not move once to put it on. I never have to adjust especially with hot yoga. They don't stretch out when they are drenched in sweat. I absolutely love them. I'm 5'3", 115 lbs and the size 4 fits perfectly. I have 5 pairs now, 3 from the first release and 2 from this release. Yes the length is longer but it doesn't bother me since I love them so much. I know some people don't think work out wear need to be adjusted but I have to adjust a lot of clothes to get it on right - my bra, long sleeve swiftly when the arm part is all twisted, Vinyasa scarf.

I always order the skirts online in the winter. NorCal is classified as "cold weather". Go figure!

Anonymous said...

My E & F's are kind of sheer when bending over but otherwise not too bad. Are y'all wearing underwear with these? If so, any recommendations?

Anonymous said...

I live in Chico, CA. It is NorCal and in high sixties as of late!!! Silly!

Anonymous said...

I ordered the inkwell ebb and flow 2 in both size 4 and size 6. I am 5 71/2 and weigh around 130, but have freakishly small hips...ugh. The on
Y difference between the two is the extra fabric at the bottom seem and the area around the knee. I think I will stick with my TTS 4 in bottoms( 6 in tops) they are a tad sheer but I am always in bum covering tops! Always! Good luck ladies!

Anon 7.34, yes the groovys are now replacing the turbos (which are officially being phased out). Turbos are my favourite as i am the same with muscly legs! Booo!

My comments on the E&F, if it helps you at all:

- overall advice is if you are truly unhappy, don't buy them, don't keep them. You have to be organized about your underwear and you have to fuss with the material a bit. The ii's are NOT as good as the i's, and the ones have sheerness issues too. I cannot believe they did not fix this issue with the ii's! There was so much feedback. And, the front is thicker than the back - why can't they make it the same?!

- I have 2 pairs of the i's, 1 pair of the ii's. Wear a tts 4 (all of my many bottoms are a 4 incl WU). Do NOT recommend you size up. Not going to solve the sheerness. Going to make this particular crop bag out on you and ride down. Reviews of the i's would tell you this, people made mistakes in thinking the good ol' sizing up was going to be the 'resolution'.

- reviews for the i's are no longer available, not even if you search Google. That sucks, because those reviews might have help you.

- or maybe not. The ii's are thinner than the i's, so the sheerness issues is worse and the "debate" carries on.

- I prefer the i's over the ii's due to material thickness and length of the crop (at knee). Just as 9:26 PM has said, you have to be fussy with the material, for the ii's in particular! After they're on, don't leave them stretched out. You have to smooth the material up/around your backside. Sounds stupid, but the material is fully elasticized, prone to sheerness.

- the i's are just slightly, if even, sheer on me. the ii's have more of the sheer issue. The bigger issue was vpl in both i or ii (I would NOT recommend wearing a thong, your bottom will be on display!), so I wear the VS Hipster Sport in neutral color (I'm white) and no vpl and no seeing my backside, skin etc. It's really dumb, at home I tried many underwear (boycut, nudes etc.) I already owned but had to seek new ones, mainly because of vpl. Yes, VS made money too. Yes, I know it's dumb. I'm really fit and these crops were the only thing to give me a vpl.

- the ii's are again definitely thinner. I bought black - it's not solid black, it's heathered. There is some sheerness (did a bend, took photo) but it's not obscene. Wearing the neutral/nude undies again - black undies on me will only highlight the fact that the crop material is more sheer.

- I'm 5'5", not a fan of the new length, they come just a couple inches about my ankle. I figured a way to pull the material up just below my knee, take the excess and fold it back down to be level with the sewn hem, you can't even tell.

- I disagree with the comment about them being compressive. I have LLL run crops (excel, fast & free, etc.) that are truly compressive. These are not, they're just nicely fitted.

They really are the most comfortable crop ever! They kill it in Bikram yoga or hot yoga flow. They are my go to crop. I bought this pair as I really want 3 to rotate; wished I'd bought the black from the earlier release, they were also TRUE black. I do not wear them running (have enough run crops). I have only washed the ii's once so far, have not worn yet. I'll be wearing them to Bikram today. On wear/tear on the i's, they have held up beautifully through many hot yoga classes and many washes!

I just ordered the SHS pacesetter skirt, (like I need another one) I was sitting on the fence about it, decided to get it. it is a pretty bold pattern, it will most likely end up as a collector piece but I love working out in skirts when I do kettle bell circuits, makes me feel girly and tough at the same time. My niece is probably going to steal it from me :)

what?? The turbos are being REPLACED by the groovy's??? I thought LLL was just cycling through different styles, I didn't think the turbos were gone for good! The groovy's are a pale shadow of the turbo shorts, which i loved loved loved. I am getting really tired of lulu taking away all of my favorite items!! I'm basically only in the game for swiftly's and crbs now, which i see lulu are screwing with too. Tear.

Love my dhbh! I live in the upper Midwest and its been flipping cold here for the past two weeks with no relief in sight. $108 is steep but 1) that is why I only kept one and 2) I figure I'll be at about $2/wear before the weather changes to Something inoffensive....think of it as less $ than a wrap and better fitting than this year's rulu tops...and there you have it!

Anonymous said...

Nope, love mine. Though I definitely would regret had I sized up 2 sizes! I can't imagine how baggy that would be.

Anonymous said...

I just got the ebb and flow II and the black is the same color as the I. I am 5'3 113 and I took a 4 in these. I bent upside down and took a picture and they weren't sheer on me. I then tried to so a side kick to test it out and saw that the II are slightly more sheer than the I. I thought I would love the longer length but its slightly baggy on me. I measures the II against the I and the legs are the same width only longer and the waistband hit me a little lower

I saw the frond groovy run shorts at the Oakbrook store... Very pretty. They also had the forme jacket in coral... Reminds me of flash light.

I adore mine. I sized down 1 size. It's the perfect thing to wear in between clients at the gym. It's so soft and decadent feeling!

I hope they come out with the 4 way swift fabric frond green speed shorts. I would definitely get them in that color with a white swiftly tank. nice for running in late spring and summer. It will also be great for sailing.
