Pace Setter Skirts, Speed Shorts, and More

Polar Haze Work It Out Tank with matching Wunder Under pants. It's probably better in person but it looks like she has jammy bottoms on.

That funky Flare/Inkwell Striped Forme Jacket with matching Crane crops. Note the Surge yoga mat. Surge has shown up on the men's side already and with the release of the yoga mat I am thinking the women will see it eventually, too. This photo is from Australia.

More of the Light Flare/Inkwell combo - Power Up Tank and Crane Crops. Also from Australia.

Mint Moment Power Up Tank and Pink Shell Chase Me Skirt
Men's Commute Tee and funky striped Surge Short. This photo is also from Australia.

Mint Moment, Pink Shell, Polar Haze

The latest long sleeve swiftlys in Polar Haze (see the small photo in the first photo - so pretty!), Pink Shell, and Mint Moment.

I've read comments the wild Polar Haze Sea Stripe Wunder Unders are see-through. Also shown is the mens Creamsicle Pop Light As Air Tech Shirt. My husband really likes these and has collected four. They are his favorite run shirt. Other items on the ladies: Pacesetter skirt, Pump It Up shorts, Pump It Up Jacket, Scuba Stretch jacket, and Back on Track tank.

Not So Basic Tee in Flare, Mint Moment No Limit Tank, and Inkwell Studio Pants (really like those!).

Classic Stripe Free to Be bra and matching Bonded Groovy Run Shorts.

The Beaming Blue Classic Striped Under crops (read these are pilling easily but they are hella soft) shown with a Swiflty LS (I think). The woman on the right has a Flare Technicool LS.

This woman looks so cute in this outfit - Speed Shorts, Mint Moment Work It Out Tank and Mint Moment Pump It Up jacket.

Another interesting combo - Polar Haze striped Pace Setter skirt and matching Polar Haze/Black Pump It Up Jacket.

Love the pink shell chase me skirt! Do you think it will show up online soon?

Is that a PINK SHELL VINYASA in the picture with the blond in the pacesetter skirt and mint moment tank?!?!?!

FINALLY A PLAIN VINYASA unless its not rulu' awww crap it will prolly be as ichty as my tank!

Did anyone else think the pink shell felt a bit like polyester?

Love these pictures of people making stripes work!

Yay Surge return! I'm going to get my surge in stride out and wear it today!

Anonymous said...

i've really disliked mint moment so far, but it looks great with the pink shell! i'd probably never wear that combo - unless it was the two colors in stripes...

I saw a lone surge scuba hoodie in my store last weekend

I was lucky to find an "old" style Scuba in Surge at a strategic partner store before Christmas and love it...both the color and the old style!! They said they had just got them in so this may be one way they sell off old merchandise??

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know how similiar inkwell is to deep indigo from last year? Was debating on the studio pants and wonder if there is much a difference?

Anyone have a color comparison of Inkwell and Black Swan? I love the inkwell studio pants but already have the black swan and can't justify if they are too close in color!

So excited to see SURGE!!!!! I am all about the blues this season: Limitless, Beaming...and hopefully Surge will make its way into my grubby hands...

Inkwell Studio Pants are really beautiful in person, I just bought a pair. The Work It Out tank is really bizarre. I understand now why it looks small on everyone. It looks tiny on the rack, I didn't even try it on. The fabric was scratchy and felt cheap.

Whatever happened to Burnt Yellow? Did I miss this color in the USA?

I love the pink skirt with the mint top!! Looks so pretty

Does anyone have some feedback on the pump it up shorts? I like the look but the waistband looks like it might be bunchy under clothes. Also, is this TTS?

I am LOVING polar haze, and now I want that pump it up jacket in PH too. I already bought alarming and mint moment, just because I like the jacket, but OMG PH. I can't believe how cute that Swiftly LS is in PH, too. too much to wish for a CRB?

This is when the new power Ys piss me off extra much. When I felt the regular luon in PH, it was so thick and soft and delicious, it would have translated perfectly to a power Y. But instead we'll probably get that cheap, stretchy "luon light" nonsense instead. Or Cray stripes. Nothing gentle and subtle and soft.

In that same photo as the pink shell skirt - which scarf is that?!

I can honestly say that I'm not even vaguely interested in any of this stuff. I'm SO over the colour blocking, stripes down the legs, crazy stripe prints (where are the NICE strips like Discovery stripe and elevation stripes?!)

The inflated prices make it even easier to pass on this stuff.. I don't think I'd buy any of it on markdown, let alone at a 15% higher price point.

I guess it's just as well, it's nice actually saving some money for a change!

I too love that skirt. Sadly at a size 10 it'll likely look wretched on me as hey haven't had a skirt in about a year that doesn't make me look like a whale..

Love polar haze. Hate the striped work it out tank. Every pic I've seen makes the model look obese even though they aren't. It's not a good look for anyone apparently.

Anonymous said...

I love that skirt too. I hope it shows up at the same time as the Pump it Up jacket so I can order both!

Anonymous said...

Does it have the clarity yellow accents?

Anonymous said...

@LULUADDICT- in that pic with the pink shell skirt and mint moment tank do you know if that's a new scarf?!?!

Anonymous said...

Which store are these from? I would like to look them up to get a closer look.

Sandra said...

I thought it felt polyish but I also thought the beaming blue felt the same and others have said it was thick and soft so I'm thinking that perhaps there are different batches?

JWR said...

@Molly - Inkwell is a deep navy and Black Swan has much more purple. I much prefer Inkwell, it's really perfect if you don't want basic black and want something with a little more color.

A bunch of surge mats in my local store in western USA. Hope to see it in womens clothing, not just mens. with NO color blocking. Oh, No stripes either. Please. That would be wonderful. Plain Surge speed shorts or WUC will be spectacular

I received my Speedy Turtleneck yesterday and wore it today with a CRB and it was great! I didn't feel the any seams in the arms like others have mentioned. The rulu was much thinner than the rulu Runder Under LS or my Turn Around LS from last year. Perhaps this is the difference in the Vinyasa scarfs...is there such a thing as rulu light?

is it just me, or did we see basically this same colo palette last spring? last spring we had menthol, now we have mint moment. instead of lavendar dusk, we have polar haze. and instead of blush quartz, we have pink shell. booooorrrring. as i recall from last spring, lavendar dusk didn't sell well - and i LOVE purple! but it washes a lot of people out, and is just not a flattering color on the body. i remember there being several LS swiftlies on MD in lavendar dusk last year. anyway, that's just my griping. guess i'm saving money by not purchasing anything!

Anonymous said...

No, there wasn't any accent color.

Anonymous said...

For those of you planning on ordering a Pump It Up Jacket, what color do think you'll get? I'm really excited about that jacket but can't decide on what color.

I am also loving this color palette. Mint Moment and Purple Haze are so adorable together. I have a pair of dark purple wunder unders (I can't remember the exact color name) from last year that I think would be so cute with both colors. I already have all kinds of outfits planned.

Have you guys seen this? Looks like investors are starting to catch on:
http://news.ca.msn.com/money/lululemon-shares-down-46percent-amid-downgrade

Also, I was in my local store processing a return (I haven't kept one thing that I've bought in ages...so disappointing), and the lady next to me was trying to return 2 tops. She had the receipt, and the tags were attached. On one of the shirts the hang tag had fallen off, but the interior rip tag was still on. They wouldn't take it back. Unbelievable. The girl kept citing their corporate policy, and so I said to the customer loudly, "you should call the corporate office and complain. I bet they'll let you return it," and another sales girl overheard me and came over. She agreed that it was corporate policy. Outrageous. The top clearly hadn't been worn, and that stuff HAPPENS. I really wanted to make a fuss but I restrained myself. A few weeks ago I returned a pair of pants to Nordstrom with the price tag torn off. It tore off when I tried them on at home, so I just stuck it in the pants pocket. It was no problem.
You know, I just am over Lulu. I think they pretty much just plain suck. Bad quality, increasing prices, crappy service...why bother.

also, OT- I've been on the hunt for new workout gear brands since I'm over LLL, and I really like Splits 59 for capris and tights.
Their sizing runs a little small (I wear a 4 Lulu and usually a small in Splits59), but the fabric is nice and the lines are really flattering.

Anonymous said...

The "scarf" in the picture of the woman with the MM CRB and SP Pacesetter... I think it's a towel. "The Small Towel"? I think - not currently on the website.

Anonymous said...

Zero interest in anything. The only way I'd wear Polar Haze is if it comes in a solid CRB...no stripes, no polka dots, no other patterns.

Still waiting on the elusive Ebb & Flow ii crop. Ages ago I saw them here!

Last year I know LLL's pattern seemed to be to make a block of stuff I really didn't like (i.e. juvenile looking with things like gills) and that I absolutely did not buy, then they'd make a few things I did like. The last part of 2012 they really carried on with a lot of ugliness (colour blocking and lace). The only things I bought were a couple of CRB's, then I waited for wmtm/markdown on the few items I did want, and I got them. If they carry on with the ultra unappealing designs, they'll be getting a lot less money. Fine by me, I will just move on and I'll have to be content with the good number of items I have. I'm quite aware that customer loyalty means zilch to them.

HPSauce said...

OT, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a comparison on the StMoritz Jersey compared to the Speedy TN? Softness? Warmth?
I bought the Speedy, but am really not happy with the rolled seam on the inside of the sleeve, and I'm thinking of selling my Speedy and getting the StMoritz instead, but I'm afraid the merino wool will feel scratchy and cause me to be itchy...

Anonymous said...

I am very sensitive to merino and love the st. Moritz jersey so much i bought them all. Sure, they aren't as soft as the Speedy but they are a touch warmer to me. The fabric is no doubt a little rough but not at all itchy for me personally.

HPSauce said...

I agree, I thought it looked like a towel as well...

Anonymous said...

I don't find it scratchy. I'm highly tolerant of wool though- although I have the speedy TN and the seams drive me NUTS... I'd go st moritz over speedy TN... It's also warmer.

Anonymous said...

I found one at benzinga talking about it they actually discuss the repricing issues and cite it as a reason the stock is nosediving... I can't seem to paste??

Focus said...

Glad you like Splits 59. I haven't tried their pants/crops/tights. But I can say their customer service is outstanding!!!! That said I ordered a cotton/terry top and was disappointed...very thin as compared to ..say a meditate pullover. Sadly sending it back, wanted to love it but just couldn't.

Anonymous said...

Ugh! What a bad CS story! Unfortunately this is all too common at Lululemon.

Anonymous said...

@ HP Sauce 4:29. Forget the St Moritz jersey, get this awesome merino wool turtleneck from MEC, it's on sale for $47. I have 2 of them. Incomparably soft and so comfortable! No discomfort at all! And mulesing-free. The blue is actually like limitless blue.

Also, just search 'merino' under MEC's search tool, filter to women's, and you'll find other great items, including a nice merino half zip etc.

http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/WomensClothing/LongSleeveTsSweaters/PRD~5016-216/mec-merino-lightweight-2-turtleneck-womens.jsp

P.S. here's MEC's superior price adjustment policy and what they do once something moves to clearance.

"Clearance Items

At MEC, we don't have sales. We don't do limited time offers. If you need something today, you can buy it today and know it's good value for the money.

We do offer clearance prices on products, sizes, or colours that we are discontinuing. Clearance is like a sale, but it's a one-way street. Once we reduce a price, that price applies until all the stock is gone and we will never sell the same item again at a higher price. Clearance items may have limited inventory, may not be available in all stores, and prices may only apply to specific colours or sizes.

Clearance Price Protection

If you buy something from us and we put the identical item on clearance within 30 days, we'll refund you the difference. Contact our Service Centre (1.888.847.0770 or 604.876.6221) or bring your receipt to the retail store where you bought the item."

That's right LLL, you suck!

Seems people are changing their tune about the Pump it Up jacket.
Surge came out (again) but only in the Scuba Stretch
This is really turning into "streetwear"
Are we exercising or designing outfits?

Anonymous said...

HPSauce - I bought the st moritz jersey on Boxing Day and I love it. I have sensitive skin but I don't find it itchy. I sized up a full size though. The shoulders arms and tummy were small at my normal size. But I liked it so much after wearing twice I bought the other colors too.

Anonymous said...

@HP, I'm really shocked you don't like the Speedy, I love mine so much I had originally bought my first one at full price, thank goodness it went on sale before I took the tags off, so I returned it and I bought all three colors. If the sleeve scratches you, then it scratches you, but I have never even felt it and I slept in one on a cold night! I don't think you are going to like the St Moritz wool one. But if you are comfortable with reselling then there is a minimal, if any loss.

OT I've been seriously disenchanted with every introduction of the new releases. I've been able to buy lots of stuff on mark down simply because I never found the new stuff to be anything I "had to have". And I guarantee I would not have purchased 90% of it had it not been on sale. (and even on sale I was very particular)

So this is what I find interesting.... With every new release the stuff gets more and more ridiculous. If it's not the price that is ridiculous (for what it is, I'm all for paying $$ for quality), it's the design or the colors/patterns. BUT yet, many of us are acting desperate, and actually starting to like/buy these clown clothes. You can see it happening in the comments on this blog.

So many are willing to overlook, and I used to be one.... I will still buy quality and performance, because I do actually train regularly, and it's part of my profession. I too have been looking for a replacement brand and although find pieces here and there it makes me sad for the old Lululemon and the lost potential.

Oh, and the stripes have got to stop. A classic boat stripe come spring/summer, fine, but good God, pirate stripes? And I thought the Sea Wheeze clothing was the clowniest of them all.

Anonymous said...

@Anon 12:20PM--I thought the same thing about the Speedy rulu turtleneck feeling super light! It's remarkably thin, not at all thick and cushy feeling like the Runder Under l/s. It's still soft, and nice and long, but WOW is it thin--almost see-through. And I got black!

Sophia said...

@HP-I have a lot of merino wool...I love icebreaker tees and tanks and Smartwool socks. I just picked up a st motifs jersey on MD without trying it on (it was CRAZY busy and I figured MD+my R&D discount, I'd risk it). I think it's a bit on the scratchy side as far as merino goes....and WAY on the scratchy side compared to fleece or rulu. It was still worth the $37 gamble, I'm going to wear it skiing this weekend. But it's not the awesome merino put out by SW and IB. If you've never worn merino at all, I'd stay well away from the SMJ. If you've work other merino, it might be worth the risk as long as you know it's not as soft and nice.

Sophia said...

@HP again - but all that said, you shouldn't be itchy. Merino doesn't have the itch factor that other wools have. Scratchy, yes. But itchy, no. If that makes sense.

OT - was in store today with my baby who started to fuss at check out. Saw an inkwell bang buster, decided I must have it and added it to my purchase. $18!!! And it's not silver!!

It's a shame I can't return it, I had assumed it was $14 like all my others.

Does anyone know if the techni cool LS is running large or TTS? I usually do a 10 in swiftly tops and an 8 in the runder under LS and can't decide which to order. Any input would be appreciated as I do not have a store anywhere near me.

@ anon 8:49 pm - I thought the Technicool LS ran TTS but the Not So Basic Tee ran a size large.

We had the Surge Yoga Mat uploaded in Canada last week so you should be getting it this week I would think. Also, I'm not sure if you did but Canada had a Scuba Stretch in Surge uploaded in I believe early November.

HPSauce said...

Thank you so much everyone... I decided I don't want to miss out and ordered the StMoritz Jersey in the Beaming. I wa surprise to see the Silver color all fully stocked in all sizes on WMTM Canadian side... Aren't the grays and silvers the first colors to go? I was half tempted by that one as it didn't have the color blocked sleeves, but I opted for the Beaming to replace my Speedy and to go with my Beaming Ice Queen pants I also picked up on WMTM the other day. (Can't say enough how much I love my IceQueens... Perfect for snowboarding!)
I also wasn't expecting the Speedy to be so increadibly thin for a Rulu top... Especially since my first experience with Rulu was the coveted Turn Around I bought last year. It was my first Lulu Tee purchase, and haven't regretted it once! (Really wish I had gotten more!)
So I've put my Speedy up for sale, and I'm hoping I can sell it fairly soon so I don't sit in the red too long, ha ha ha. :)

@ HP Sauce, I have the Fireplace Jersey in merino wool (markdown). I know it's not the St Moritz but it's from the same line. I find it scratchy. I wear it and think it's beautiful looking but it's not as comfortable as my other merino stuff by other brands.

@ 7:12 PM, unfortunately the apparent plan for LLL is to go in the direction of "trendy" streetwear and no longer focus on the technical, athletic customer.

@ 7:27, I'm with you re: ridiculous designs etc. I'm not going to buy just because it's by LLL. I am a hardcore runner and yogi, I love that the gear has been technically superior, durable (this is debatable in the last year or so though) looked great and classic. In the past while the clothing has been and continues to be horrible. I'll wait for markdown on the few things I want and if I don't get them, so be it. LLL forecasts lower returns to their shareholders. Umm yeah, because your loyal customers are saying "no thanks" and where are these new customers they're so keen to attract? They're also going to have to lower prices/markdown. Right again because the majority are not going to buy this ugly stuff at full price, if at all. I'm also moving on to other brands. It baffles me that an established retailer doesn't realise at all how much it is jeopardizing its loyal customers. It is basic: it is much harder to attract and retain a new customer than it is to keep an existing/loyal customer.

Anonymous said...

I saw the grey in store and went for black because I thought it looked kind of see through? Maybe I'm leery because I'm a D but it didn't look thick enough?

Anonymous said...

what a shocker. As usual the web host of this blog decided to ignore my QUESTION again about where the pics in Australia are from. Not sure why she finds the need to keep them so secretive. geez.

Anonymous said...

@ 5:59AM....and Lulu DOESN'T even have GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE anymore! you don't even have to go very far and read about all the unhappy customers! Just go to their FB page!! I'd say lately, it's 85-90% complaints! the only people who are happy, are the people who haven't had to return things or who were granted gift cards from Lulu over the holidays. LOL.... Had lulu stuck their guns and continued to refuse to do price adjustments, people who have continued to complain! (As they should!) As a loyal customer for well over 13 years...Im getting tired of all the stunts and BS of Lulu. It's getting real OLD, real fast..... Im just not spending my money at Lulu like I use to and I don't care about loyalty anymore--why would I care, when Lululemon doesn't appear to care????? Forget about calling, the GEC and speaking to people in charge. there is NO ONE to email.....yes, there is a GEC manager and there are supervisors....but most hide behind their desks or ignore emails. in years past, I knew a few people who emailed various depts. at Lulu headquarters and no one even responded to the emails! Ha! And forget about emailing CEO Christine Day, she doesn't even respond to emails and she's on FB too, but you cannot message her. LOL Contacting the higher ups is such a waste of time--there is NO ONE to hear your concerns and Lululemon is fully aware of this! I see people all the time threatening Lulu all the time on their FB page saying, "Im going to go to the highest at Lululemon to complain!" DON'T EVEN BOTHER...if you do get someone, which I did once, they kindly told me they have noted my complaint. that was it!

I think ms. day is tanking LLL on purpose- don't have to believe me but i am convinsed of this- she's too smart/ too much experience to be making these errors- unless its on purpose- what/why/ who- we may never know! But she's doing it its happening- LLL will go away like so many others- and the excuses will be the economy or what ever else reason they put to the public- or they'll consolidate w/ one of the CORPORATE GIANTS and the clothing will never be what it once was- mark my words!!!

Thanks, @JWR!!

I like mint moment and polar haze as well but only solid. I got the mint moment boogie shorts and I really like them. the material is pretty soft. I would like to get the WUC in polar haze.

I actually think that LLL is focusing more on selling to people who like to wear active wear on the street. I think they can make things cheaper and sell as a brand name like Nike does some people don't care as long as the logo is on the clothing. But people who really work out in the garments will go somewhere else.

Funny how both Bangbusters (silver and regular) are the same price on the Australian website.

Okay that MEC one looks really nice, it doesn't have thumb holes but it is cheaper AND MADE IN CANADA!! And that is a huge selling point for me... along with their lifetime guarantee. Lifetime... I'm going to let that soak in...

I'm so mad at LLL. I was reading about the company on their site a few days ago, and it made me nostalgic and sad.
How crappy that they put out such garbage now. It was such a great brand. :(
I was at crossfit this morning, and I looked around and 2 other girls were also wearing the old Scuba hoodies. One of them commented on the color of mine (it is 2 years old), and then we all said none of us had bought anything lately and the quality was really sucking. My gym used to look like a Lulu store...everyone was decked out in the latest and greatest. Now people are wearing other brands or just older styles. I almost never see any of the new stuff. Bad news when loyal athletes leave the brand.
Oh, another vote for Splits 59 pants/crops. Really good quality, and manufactured in California.
I have had an experience with returning something, and it went off without a hitch.
I also like that the brand is relatively unknown...I don't feel like such a sheep. I used to show up at crossfit and there would be 2 other girls at least in the same outfit! Ha!

I ordered the inkwell studio pants and I hope I love the color in person. I have black and gray and wear them constantly so I figured a blue would be a nice addition. It's been said time and time again, but I'm like most of you and are also looking at different retailers for my workout/yoga wear. I have been really liking Athleta a lot recently. Not only do they have very nice quality items, but their customer service is amazing! They actually encourage the customer to try out their gear and will take back anything at any time. Oh, and free return shipping. Talk about a no-risk deal. Although I still love LLL for many of their core items (CRBS, DSPS, etc.) I am not buying-just-to-buy like I used to. Quality just isn't there, prices are just over the top, and their insane policies have really made me rethink each and every purchase.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:16 PM, MEC, yes, they're the best on their "Rock Solid Guarantee". Cannot say enough great things about them, plus they sell a lot of stuff made in Canada and USA (the other international countries too, but at least there's a lot of NA representation).

Anonymous said...

I had the opportunity to touch them in person today (pink shell stripe & mint moment stripe) and they were NOT thick like previous scarves.

Anonymous said...

Gosh. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the world this morning. Sorry grumpy trousers, but that's perhaps because a) she's one busy lady or b) the name of the Australian store is printed right there on the second photo. Ohhhh.

And kudos to the forever awesome LLA for all your hard work.

LuluAddict said...

@anon 11:26 am - I know! When the silver luon bangbusters first came out in Australia they were $20, I believe, and the regular were $15. Then they almost immediately lowered the price. It irritates me that we get shafted on the price. The amount of silver used for a tiny scrap of headband does not justify a $4 delta.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 7:27 pm - the pirate or jailbird stripes are what is "in" on the runways for this spring so lululemon is just following fashion trends. I don't love their implementation in a lot of the pieces but it's ok in a top or two.

Anonymous said...

hi Elisa I looked at the splits 59 site and liked the capris. The color selection is not so great, but they do use a higher quality nylon where the threads are woven tighter together. I'd love to see them in person but I don't know where to find them in New York.

M
