Pink Shell Items Pulled from Stores

I'm hearing from a few people that Pink Shell items have been pulled from the stores for bleeding. I know I tried on the Power Y yesterday at noon time. Some people have been told they have been pulled others just can't find them in the stores. However, Pink Shell items are still on the website so this is confusing. I wore my Pink Shell Cool Racerback today for a few hours until I spilled coffee on it (grrr) and didn't have any issues. It almost seems the color is not saturated enough to cause problems. Anyway, if you have any info, please post.

I've also read the Pink Shell items were put out too early and that is why they are being pulled back. That makes no sense to me since lulu is about to go over its own fiscal cliff as far as 4th quarter results are concerned so you would think they'd want to sell as much as possible while people are in the shopping mood and not wait.

UPDATE - I knew I could count on you guys to set me straight - thank you!:

It wasn't a bleeding problem - there haven't been any reported bleeding issues that we've been told about with the pink. But a bunch of items in the pink got delayed in shipping from wherever they were manufactured and won't arrive until xmas week or later, so they pulled the few items that were on time and are holding them until they can put all the pink stuff out at approx the same time. They want the stores to look good for holiday and those few pink items looked random without the items designed to match.

This makes sense, all the items that bled heavily were much more saturated in color - Flash, Paris, etc. Pink Shell is not a typical "bleeder" color.

i got mine, pulled the tags off and then went to wear it today and the smell was so overwhelmingly WEIRD that i had to take it off, don't want to wash it now if it's going to bleed...sigh...do you think they will take it back once the tags are off due to weird freakin smell??

LuluAddict said...

They have taken items back for odors in the past. I think lulu just smells weird lately, certainly different than it used to, because they are finishing the garments differently. I would assume they changed how they did they because of color fastness issues.

I got mine in the mail yesterday it too has a strange odour! Haven't ripped the tags off. Guess it's going back.

I heard it was just released too early

I'm thinking I may need to buy me a pink shell crb in case they pull them. I've been known to keep some coveted colors to wait the bleeding issues out and not return them when they recall them.

Did you notice any bleeding when you washed your Pink Shell CRB after spilling coffee on it?

Guess I'll keep the tags on until we can determine what's really gong on

I heard that the items were supposed to be put out after boxing day (day after Xmas), but who knows...

So one educator said it was for bleeding and another educator told me it was for another reason but would not divulge..

Pink Shell does not bleed. I was told that they simply changed the timing of the color release and it will return after the holidays. I haven't had an issue with weird smells in any of my clothes recently. Just wash it and it will go away.

Well if this is true I'm really irritated. I just bought Pink Shell stuff to replace the Raspberry Glo stuff I had that bled. I thought Pink Shell was light enough not to have problems.

I posted earlier today about the pink shell 12:51. I went in today specifically to get the pink shell power y. Two Ed's that have been there for a long time(not the seasonal help)told me it is being pulled due to color fastness issues. They said it is being pulled from all stores. They did have it in stores and was pulled and sent back. We were specifically talking about the power y not any other items. But there were no pink shell items in sight. They also had a name for it p"shhhh" pink. They said it might come back later once they have resolved all color issues. Later- like down the road not any time soon. I really wanted that striped version- oh well. But they told me I would not want it if it had color issues so best to move on!

I wrote the fit report comment in the last post and was in store today, late afternoon. I saw the new pink shell CRBs and power ys. All were out along with the pink shell accessories. Not sure if I saw any pink shell jackets. Seems weird that they'd pull pink shell from some stores and not others and not the website.

I started to notice the smell when I got my bordeaux CRB; since then, I've noticed it on the tender violet, CRB, and now the pink shell CRB. The smell reminds me of vaseline and I assumed it had to do with something that lulu is using to set the dyes, but I could be wrong.

Not for bleeding- just strategy. I asked in the store and it will be back out later this week. It was simply put out too early.

It will be re-released in a few weeks. No bleeding issues.

ot: for all those Canadians out there, I placed a good sized order with MEC and heard from the employee on the phone that MEC is going to have a Boxing Day sale for the first time. With the mild winter, carrying too much inventory and soft sales they are feeling the pressure to move stock. If you live in a city with a MEC store, it might be worth a visit (if you shop on Boxing Day). For others without a nearby store, he said to watch online. Between now and BD more things will be added to the Clearance section - mostly clothing. MEC also has a great return policy, even on sale items.

That's a bummer. I was just looking at snagging the CRB and bangbuster.

It is not for color fastness. There was an issue with the delivery schedule and items will be re-released in a little while with more, matching items.

That's awesome news about MEC anon@6:38!! Thanks! Good to know- they've never had a boxing day sale that I know of. That would be worth a line up! Momma needs some new studded bike tires!!

Interesting different people are posting VARIOUS responses from educators regarding the Shell Pink---bleeding, strategy, shipment delay

Did I miss something? What is MEC?

Mountain Equipment Co-op. Kind of like the Canadian REI.

Clothing has chemicals in it from the dye, processing, etc... and it really is best to wash everything before wearing - any clothes - but especially clothes that you are going to sweat in. I wash all of my lulu before wearing and have never had a problem with bleeding but I really don't buy the neons.

Interesting thought because when I was in my local store today they said their shipment was late - maybe the pink shell items?

Anonymous said...

There are NO bleeding issues. Everything is just being held so that it comes out with the rest of the matching product so people can build outfits. Educators telling you there is a bleeding issue are not informed. I would love to know what store they are from!

Anonymous said...

What?! Lulu educators telling different stories about the same issue? Nothing new there. The vast majority of 'educators' I've ran into lately have virtually NO lulu knowledge. It's infuriating!!!

I've had a few crbs smell funny while in sweaty yoga classes. It was gross, definitely a little Vaseline-y, and I had to get rid of them. I have sensitive skin so I have to wash everything before wearing.

@7:40 re:MEC - Not sure if studded tires will be on sale. He indicated that clothing would be the focus. But if you are bike riding in the snow - you totally ROCK girl. You deserve the tires, sale or no sale. Just go and get them and keep yourself safe. Have fun on BD at MEC for me too if you go. I don't have a store nearby.

@ 6:38 PM - thanks for the heads up on MEC boxing day sale. Awesome.

@ 8:21 PM - seems you are new to this board. No need to speak as if readers don't know. People know in general about clothing processing, chemicals, wash before wear etc. The LLL manufacturing process, bleeding, chemicals (including the use of formaldehyde) has been discussed at length on this board.

@ anon 8:50 pm- There are also a lot of temporary help hired from the holidays, too, so that doesn't help. Some of the eds know more than others but that's true of everywhere. However, you also have us here to help you. ;-)

@8:50 -- SOOO true this time of year -- the holiday help at a store that calls employees "educators" is kind of hysterical. My sister went into one with me the day after Thanksgiving and I was asking a really simple question ("Do you have the Limitless Blue Cool Racerback?" -- I even said Cool Racerback and not CRB because I could tell she was seasonal -- lol) and the girl stared at me like a deer in the headlights. My sister was like, "I feel really bad for that girl, she had no idea who she was up against..." And I was REALLY nice!
As for the delayed shipments...the "scarcity model" only works when you employ quality factories and have a clear design plan. Lulu has been so all over the place changing designs and cutting manufacturing costs, that it's no surprise to me they continue to have issues with the timing of their shipments. Just add this to the long list that began with SeaWheeze and has continued ever since...

My strategic partner store still had the shell pink CRBs for sale this morning. So check out your SPSs if you're looking for one.

I didn't think 8:21 was talking with an attitude. It seemed she was just trying to be helpful, and some who are reading these comments will not have read those in previous posts. I have started to wash all my tops (not just pants) before wearing these days, after reading in these blogs about the chemicals used in fabric processing. Thanks to all who share this important info. :)

LuluAddict said...

@ luluuFemon - Even the long-timers don't know all the colors. When I was looking for Beaming Blue, I got pointed to Limitless. Granted, they are kind of close. I think the eds can be useful when it comes to asking how they like a particular item for a certain activity like spin or run or whatever you are interested in. They are all encourage/required to take classes and be active so they can give you good feedback on how they like certain clothing/how it performs if you ask.

'PISH' is the color code for pink shell- PI for pink and SH for shell. That is what the educators were calling the color. They were not trying to be secretive saying P'shhhh' don't worry! ;)

Anonymous said...

Re anons at 8:21 and 11:08: I am new to this blog (not the person who posted earlier). Where can I find this information on the chemicals used in fabric processing? It will be a VERY interesting read.

Anonymous said...

Kinda OT my running with my homies pants from Wmtm section smell like something strongly even after 2 washes! It smells like some sort of chemical. I don't mind because it's not so strong unless my nose is a a few inches from the fabric lol.

OT: Loot alert: U-Turn markdowns in Georgetown (DC) store: black swan/rasp. glow and clarity yellow color.

I think the silverescent runner under and U-Turn tops look kind of like they're going to pill - more like regular fleece texture than the others, which are smoother.

anyone have anything in black swan/raspberry glow? i got the runder under top and now worried about bleeding. Thanks!

Thanks for the loot alert! Did others find that the U Turn was a size down item in the same way that the Runder under top is?
