NEW! Sun Blocker LS is Coming Back

Reader Nicole spotted this in her recent issue of Competitor magazine. I think I had heard or read somewhere that Lululemon was going to come back with more SPF gear. I wonder if the material has changed at all because I remember it felt like a medical glove.  However, I know lots of ladies love the Sun Blocker from last summer.

Last year's Sun Blocker LS

Last year's material felt SO yucky on - yes, like wearing a rubber glove that doesn't breathe!

The neckline looks different too so maybe they changed the design!

The feel of the fabric was worth the sun coverage on last year's shirt. I also found after wearing and washing several times the fabric felt more normal. Love the neckline on this shirt. $98 though? ouch - will be a pass for me at this price.

@ Run Mama - Interesting to know that the fabric changed feel with washing. Up to what temperature did you wear it in? It seemed kind of hot to me for 80-90 degree temps. To me, regular rash guards from volcom or quicksilver made of bathing suit material seem more breathable than this fabric did. I agree the price is high.

i'm looking forward to this, as the MOM pullover doesn't fit me well and i'm looking for some sort of long sleeve that i don't feel is as delicate as my swiftlies to get me through the summer. fingers crossed that this is it.

I bought this last year, and it unravels easily, delicate material. Last year I am pretty sure it was 79 dollars, it is not worth 98!!

My LS SPF lulu shirt last year was 68, although many went to loot and if I'd waited I could have got it for much less. I did not have any unraveling (if I did I'd be taking it back to lulu for sure). I wore it to about 26 C or so - humidity was much more of a factor than temp. Lately though I've been doing long runs in the sun in a swiftly LS and finding this comfortable and since I'm not seeing any effect on my skin I think the UPF factor is fairly high. The swiftly's for me are more versatile, priced lower than this new spf LS, and come in lots of colors so I'm likely going to stick with those this year.

@RunMama, the unravelling was on the stiching, I am guilty of not going to lululemon, but I get tired of the grilling over how I wash the garmet etc.... even though its always cold, delicate, hang to dry.

@anon, that sucks. I'm lucky to have never had problems returning defective items. With my UPF shirt too I had to wash it in hot water more than once as the mesh seemed to get stinky very quickly just doing my regular activities.

Can't wait to see this on a model - The neckline makes it look a bit like a hoodless version of the Run: Cross Train Pullover (which I love).

Yikes, the price really shot up with the second version of this! I bought it last year in angel blue, and wore it several times, however I decided I like to feel cool while running in the summer, and for me that involves not having sleeves, especially when it's warmer than 65F + humid. I ended up selling it on Ebay and will just be using sport sunscreen this summer. It was a nice top though!

Columbia & North Face both have garments SPF 50 they are cheaper and feel great on.

@ RunMamma - agree that I'd prefer to use a long sleeve swiftly for sun protection rather than the sunblocker. Like someone else said it had crummy breathablity and made me feel like my skin was suffocating.
