Taryn Toomey Collaboration Uploaded Today

The new Taryn Toomey The Class lululemon co-lab uploaded today. I like the colors a lot but after studying the offerings I've concluded nothing will work for me.  These are the new Awakening Crops in Ice Gray, Misty Mauve, Earl Gray, and Gris.

Luxtreme Awakening Tights in Dusty Mauve. Also offered in white.

Heart Opener Knit Cami in Misty Moss and Faint Mauve. Also offered in white.

Silk blend Heart Opener Halter in Porcelain Pink. It has a built in bra.

Silk blend Heart Opener LS in Faint Mauve and White. Also offered in Misty Moss. I might have ordered this but it looks a bit short and I hate the way lululemon does dropped sleeves. The $78 price tag is also off-putting.

Silk blend Heart Opener Tank in Misty Moss, Faint Mauve, and White.

Knit Awakening Bra in Earl Gray, Chrome, and Misty Mauve. It also comes in Lavender Gray.

Heart Opener Knit Wrap Misty Moss and Faint Mauve. It also comes in White.

Heart Opener Meditation Cloak

Mesh Awakening Tank in Misty Mauve, Faint Mauve, and Misty Moss.

Heart Opener Bodysuit

Much as I tried to like this, there is nothing practical here I can use. Did you get anything?

This collection is such a miss! I love the colors, except how close so many of the bottoms look "nude" and would totally look like you aren't wearing pants from far away. Also every top except the longsleeve has little/no coverage and looks like even the small chested models are busting out of the bras. Overall disappointment to me.

The colours are truly beautiful, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about this collection. Somehow I can't imagine submitting these fragile looking garments to a strenuous workout. The knots on the tops - which seem to be too short - are very off-putting. I wish this fad would be over already. I can't imagine putting any fabric under this kind of stress, and I'm not even talking about how ridiculous it looks. Anyway, I might change my mind if I see these pieces in real life, but I slightly shudder when I think of the possible price range in CAD$.

Oh my gosh this collection is GORGEOUS. Love the colors and feminine feel to everything!

I thought the collection was cute but not overly practical for me personally. I ordered the Heart Opener Knit Cami in the Faint Mauve just to see it in person. I have fair skin so as much as I like the colors, they are not complimentary to my skin tone. I would've bought the bodysuit in a minute if there was a built-in bra. Not going without one and wearing something underneath will detract from the simple open back. The collection seems to be selling pretty well on the US side for the crops, bra and tank at least.
There were a few other non-Taryn pieces added too. Adobe Align pants (I ordered these), Hotty Hot Short inseam in Ice Milk, and a Submarine blue Swiftly tank were added, and I'm sure I missed other items.

Overall, I thought Taryn Toomey and Lulu did a nice job with the collaboration/collection...the vibe…the product…the colors. Focused point of view. Freshing imho.

Not really my style, but I did buy the white luxtreme tights b/c they seemed have less going on than previous ones released. I like the detail at the hem too. I may end up returning. We shall see. I'm thinking of them as as an alternative to a white jean. Wish it was nulux.

Kind of a sweat-free yoga/"loungewear" thing imho. Not a bad, cross-market to target. The very soft, muted colors do give it more on an intimate apparel feel...the product makes it feel like an extension of intimate apparel/"loungewear".

what's with all the knotted tops?? why?

I like the styles and the fabrics seem to be really nice. I do agree that they are not practical. maybe for a very, very petite dancer.

I also saw Dark Adobe Aligns and Ice Milk Hotty Hots II 2.5" from the upload.

If that's as good as the collection can look on a bunch of models, then this collection is all kinds of horrible.

Remember when the uploads used to be amazing because the clothing made you feel amazing? Lululemon used to be able to make a size 2 and a size 12 look fantastic in their designs...everyone's butts looked great (LOL)...the tops were sporty, athletic, feminine..the colors were interesting in a way that was indescribable. Lulu was never the bold pattern company but somehow each upload was fresh.

These models have incredible bodies and they look like they are wearing cheap, worn out, stretched out ill fitting yoga wear. The color palette is nice..many will like the combination of muted tones...but no one wants to look frumpy and saggy.

Sad. This is the saddest lululemon effort yet.

Overpriced pajamas is what it all looks like. The bras look nothing different or special than what I've seen at TJMaxx or even Target.

The co-labs never seem to work well. Athleta and the Derek Lam co-lab was awful and ended up at my TJMaxx where they couldn't even sell it on clearance.

Tired of them knotting everything. Every shirt. Regardless of whether it "fits" with that style shirt (like the sculpt tank). It's getting ridiculous aleady. Can't even tell what the shirt looks like for all the knotty mess they've "styled".

So plain, boring, outdoor voices like. Way too much hype.

I'm so tired of the knotted tops, too. Is knotting even a trend outside of the lululemon website design team? I just checked Carbon 38 and the only tops that are knotted are the ones that have little tails meant to be knotted.

They had wizards for designers that knew how to design visually flattering pieces for all body types. Now, I assume those people are gone. They can't even layout a pattern in a flattering way (coughentwined50gicedgrayblackprintcough) anymore.

I like the overall look, but the only specific item I thought would work for me was the knit tank. Since it was selling briskly (and I was at work and shouldn't have been shopping!), I grabbed one quickly, only later to discover the perma-knot in the back. I will return it. I don't do the knotted look. I've only ever since a 7 year old pull it off. If you're an adult, why don't you buy clothes that fit you? Other than, say, a charity run t-shirt, why would you need to knot your clothes? This is my second time living through this trend and I still don't get it.

Anyway, the overall look reminded me of KD Dance. I have a wrap sweater of theirs from many years ago and love it. https://kdnewyork.com. Not practical for some workouts, but good for warming up if you do dance/skating/yoga type exercise and some of it can work very well as streetwear.

This collection palette feels very Outdoor Voices inspired

I have no doubt that the crops will all show sweat. I know light colors like that won't work for me. I do love the feminine feel of the collection, but nothing for me

@ anon 3:12 pm - Particularly the luxtreme Dusty Mauve ones.

Me too! So bummed that everything got sold out by the time I got off work :(

Anonymous said...

No need to be so negative. This collection is sold out

This collection will look great on perfect no-cellulite bodies. I can't wear light colors bc I sunless tan, and with sweat, sunless tanner typically comes off a little, so I stick to dark or brights. I also avoid these colors for another reason: sweat stains :)

Are all the Awakening crops sold off already? Wow

Anonymous said...

Lol! The bra looks like the same training "bra" I had when I was 12! Talking about fabric and cut, what were they thinking?!?!

LuluAddict said...

@She Who Weaves Words - yes, it looks like it.

@anon 8:42 pm - This whole line is geared towards dancer-types, who tend to have more modest busts. However, I have to give lululemon props for making sizing up to 12 in everything.

Sold out cause they only made 20 of each.

None of the tanks are permanently knotted. The collection also wasn't available for purchase in stores today, so your story isn't adding up.

Rise and Shine said...

Anon @ 10:05 PM, I'm glad to hear they're not permanently knotted. I guess I should have chosen my words more carefully. I was at work, saw the upload on my phone, and bought the tank without taking the time to scroll through a lot of close ups. It was only later when I checked The Sweat Edit and Cristina wondered whether the tank had to worn knotted that I looked more closely and saw what appears to be a slit in the back. Which, to me, means you have to knot it.

Anonymous said...

Anon 10:05pm: They noted on social media that the collection was only being released in select stores :)

Anonymous said...

no need to knot it. it looks pretty w open slit on back. i bought all the colors to wear casually.

Depends which colour you're looking at in terms of stuff being sold out. The Awakening Crop in the "Gris" colour is still available in all sizes from what I can see.

I don't really like this collection at all. The colours are boring, and the styles are boring. Woops.

Anonymous said...

the collection was available yesterday 7/6 in 3 of the shops in NYC and I purchased a few pieces.

Anonymous said...

the collection in all the smaller sizes are sold out in most stores in NY. I missed out on size 4 crop and size 2 tops :(

Anonymous said...

It was only in 20 stores according to one store manager. I saw the collection nicely displayed in the Cow Hollow SF store. I like the fabrics. Pretty, feminine pieces. The open heart knit fabric is very nice. I don't see anyone wearing the open heart knit pieces for yoga, but certainly before/after. It's not my style, so I didn't try anything on...can't comment on fit.

I had ordered the white tights online when the line was 1st uploaded. Got them today. Very pleased.

It's so "popular" that a tonne of these pieces is now available for sale on eBay new with tags at jacked-up prices.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 2:30 am - Interesting! I had read comments on the facebook groups that people thought ebayers bought this collection to re-sell.

Anonymous said...

I'm pretty sure some eBay resellers did. But I'm certain that this collection got sold out because it was beautiful , different and trendy and lots of people myself included just loved it. I can't wait for my items. I had to call to several stores to order 3 tanks and two pairs of crops. I don't do yoga , but hoping to be able to wear tanks on my lifting days . If they are too delicate for that I'll be happy to wear them to & from

this collection is BEAUTIFUL in person, I just got all my pieces today!! The awakening tank, crops and knit cami and wrap are my favorites. Its got a real feminine feel to it, contrary to all the ugly stuff Lulu has been releasing lately, this is really refreshing. Wish they had more colors! And wish it didn't sell out so quickly because now i want to pair up different pieces and colors and I can't cause it's all sold out!!

Did anyone get to try the awakening leggings in the dusty mauve?

Does anyone know if the 3mm mars they released with her collection have "the class" logo on them???? Can't seem to find a clear photo of one.
