They changed online price on the winder under pants Nulux from $98CAD to $128CAD today! Glad I get it before they mark up the price.

I think I'm probably the only person who doesn't like concrete jungle. To me it looks like a ballpoint pen doodle.

just noticed the concrete jungle is now at $128....wtf? so I guess $98 must of been a mistake... I love the print but will wait until they go on mark down!!

Re: Concrete Jungle now up to $128 - Wow! They were marked $98 in the store, too. WTH are they doing.

I don't care for it either. I like Nulux though

No to all of these clothes. So unappealing.

I saw the Concrete Jungle pattern in person in the store. I agree that it is much prettier in person with the amount of blue versus what you can see in photos (I know you posted a truer color photo, LLA). I am not going to buy these leggings, it is too much print for me. And definitely WTH on the pricing change. It would, however, go with their strategy on the FOMO. I got an email last night that features these WU's. It says, "now in a vibrant new print" and "here for a good time, not a long time. This week's favorites are moving fast."

Sure the print is vibrant but I find it hilarious that they emphasize this given the extreme lack of color in all LLL product for many, many months. The whole going fast thing, right, create the FOMO even if they are not going fast. Jack the price while you're at it because if the email drives business to the store, mission accomplished.

The brand's hold on me is pretty much done and has been for about 1.5 years now. I buy next to nothing with the mark ups now (I even curbed spending on bras). I was going to buy the Cadence Crusher "brushed" tight on markdown as I had my eye on them. Brushed? Come again? Hardly. Not good enough for true winter. Pockets at the zippers have paltry finishing and would not be durable over time. Interior of the pockets are wide open and impractical, any contents would migrate to the back of leg. Examples of more cheapening. The tight was flattering of course and I loved that but at md $89 pre-tax they still were not worth it.

When I was in the change room, two other people finished their try on at different times and the sales person was heard to say, each time, "not today?"

Boxy, cropped, unflattering, overly monochromatic clothing with overall cheapened quality at high prices. Correct, not today. Few and far between if ever again.

Well UK still has them at 98 equivalent. They uploaded at 128 and dropped them to 98 when they uploaded to Canada. I got mine at 98 Tuesday night...not sure how much they ate in Canadian stores...I heard 98 but did they reprice? I now feel that 98 was a great deal lil that was almost 25% off lol. Now if only they stay up and don't slip down.

Anonymous said...

They were a "meh" for me at $98. No chance in Hell at $128.

I got the FOMO email, too. I was like, "Are they going fast? Because reaction on the blogs has been pretty tepid." Checked online and no sizes are sold out. Unlike with the bondage WUs (Tech Mesh?), people aren't going nuts to get their hands on them. (And Tech Mesh were still available in all sizes the last time I checked, so even with the genuine demand, they still can't unload them all.)

The blue is more vibrant in person, but they're still not all that attractive. The little pencil lines all over your legs just aren't nice to look at. There are just way too many other companies making leggings that look better, feel better, and function better.

I don't care about the sudden price increase for those nulux tights. This company tries to manipulate us -not too subtly- with FOMO and playing with prices. I'm done buying any bottoms in that fabric. The nulux tights I have are languishing in a drawer, never to be worn. They slide down on me when I start moving. I simply don't understand the enthusiasm for the fabric or even the prints (the feather prints were nice though).

@ anon 4:49 am - Loved everything word of your comment. So you think maybe the Concrete Jungle WUPs were priced at $98 initially as kind of a "loss leader" to entice you to buy? Interesting. Lol on "this week's favorites moving fast" because I got my upload order this week a full day earlier than I ever have before. I know upload time has been moved a bit earlier but I tend to think perhaps the warehouse isn't as busy filling orders as they have been in the past.

"The brand's hold on me is pretty much done" - I am feeling like this now. I get a lot more excited at Athleta's new items than lululemon's these days. I am in love with their Breezy Tanks now that the weaterh has warmed up. Even my favorite Energy Bras seem to fit odd now. The last few I've tried on seem to have more armpit fat/less coverage than my older Energys. I'll have to remember to wear an older one to the store and see if the cut has been tweaked. I know people have mentioned that Swiftlys and Speed shorts aren't fitting like they used to so I wouldn't be surprised if Energy bras have been messed with. Holman and Potdevin are a cancer on the brand.

LLA, I am in Canada so unfortunately no Athleta for us. Still, I am thinking to ask if you could do some posts on their products. Just to see what we are missing here, LOL. I would really like to hear more about their products. I don't know, maybe a weekly post? Or even bi-weekly... :)

Anonymous said...

Is Concrete Jungle an engineered print? In WUPs, if I'm not mistaken, they charge $128 for a Nulux engineered print (like the ombre feather print), but $98 for the regular (as in the other feathered one).

Anonymous said...

Luluaddict, its funny you mention the change in the energy bra. I have noticed more back/armpit fat while wearing the newer bras, I really thought I was getting fatter, ugh. Now I have to try on an older version to see if its just the bra being cut lower or in other words CHEAPER. Just like almost everything else in the LLL line. Yes, Holman and Potdevin have all just about killed this brand. Great job....

Anonymous said...

Agreed LLA I haven't bought an energy bra in many months and don't wear them anymore. I have one older version of the energy in black (logo fell off) and that is the only one I wear. I have about 40 and they just sit there.

I actually rarely wear lulu except for my tata tamers and winter gear I bought like 3 years ago.
I have been putting most of my lulu gear in a box and plan on getting rid of most of it.
I seem to only grab my lulu stuff from 3 to 4 years ago, it's still holding up which is good.

What will you do with your blog LLA????

@ LuluAddict 8:52 am

How is the fit of Swiftlys changing?

LuluAddict said...

@M - I'll keep blogging for now since I still seem to find things I like to buy, just not at the rate I was before, which actually is a good thing since I have so much workout wear. I've got to believe that a management/design direction change will come if (soon please!) the bottom line numbers reflect what we think is the reality of the company.

@ anon 2:30 pm - I was wondering the same thing - that the engineered prints garnered the price increase but I swear all nulux bottoms were $128, no matter if the prints were engineered or not.

Breaking lulu's hold on me is a good thing! I used to spend so much every month! I have closets full of lulu. Honestly it was so cute and flattering I found it irrestible.
I've been into the makeup reviews and bought some high quality items although not spending on anything like I did on lulu.

I'm in Canada, but in February I had the chance to visit an Athleta store in L.A. My wallet and my mind were open, but I found that most of their garments I would have been interested in were made of polyester. I don't mind Poly in very small doses, but it usually causes folliculitis on my skin, coupled with the exercise-induced sweat. I find nylon more tolerable for some reason. The colours and styles were great and I was surprised how every top was longer (and more stylish) than what LLL tries to sell us. Also, there was none of this boxy, quasy-manly, drab, short, flair-less, ill-fitting, overpriced, over-simplistic stuff. I have an athletic body and the new LLL styles emphasize it too much. Who wants to look like a quarterback, which LLL's dropped shoulders achieve on me perfectly? At Athleta, the sale items were very well priced too. I never bought Athleta, so I have no idea how their athletic wear performs, but the reviews are quite positive. It is so sad it has come to that, but what Christine Day started, Pot-de-vin et al nicely finished.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 2:26 pm - I'm not a polyester fan, either, and that is what kept me from buying Athleta for a long time but they've started making more items out of nylon now. So far, their stuff is lasting really well for me.

On a side note- I do love your athleta reviews! I only buy online, and fell in love with salutation tights after you wrote about them in your blog. So much better than what Lulu is currently offering.

I went into Lorna Jane for the first time last week. Wow quite pricey compared to LLM! Their exchange policy sucks, but I've never returned anything I bought from LLM ever so I guess it's not that big of a deal. But so far I really like their bras better, they are way more supportive & cute! I'm not huge up top, but still have better support than LLM bras I think.

Hi everyone. If you have not checked out Climawear, they have some nice items. Including Swiftly like shirts and there are currently a lot of ombre versions (dark a the bottom, not light like LLL recently did) and vibrant colours!

Also, up to March 20, you can get a discount of 25%. Code is also on the site but it is lucky25. I am in Canada and flat rate shipping is $10. I finally bought one of the ombre LS that I had been eyeing. I have to suck up the conversion rate and the shipping fee, but I felt it was worth it for this one, special shirt. (This is my first online order with Climawear but I have owned items in the past. Used to get them at Winners but I never see Climawear there now.)

I know some of you like the nordic patterns for winter, and they have some nice nordic LS hoodies.

Cheers.

I second the idea of more blogging about Athleta! That's been my go-to now for about a year, and it's funny, my crossfit gym used to be ALL Lulu, and now it's almost zero. I'm seeing a mix of Athleta, Nike, indy designers, some vintage Lulu, and virtually nothing from the new releases. (Except Speed Shorts, those are still pretty popular)

So- anyway, long story short- would love to see more Athleta! :)

The bloom has been off the rose for me for a while now, too. New materials are cheap garbage marketed as 'innovative' with an 'innovative' price tag to match. It's increasingly difficult to find the items I need that suit the activities I like to do and my lifestyle, and a lot of their offerings are just straight-up casual wear that serve little to no function for athletic pursuits and are inferior to other casual/athleisure items from other brands in terms of style, relevance, construction, and price.

I think they're counting on customers not having the 'old' LLL as a frame of reference, which to me makes sense since they got rid of or changed most of their core items - and the quality and designs obviously aren't as good. Making new items at the expense of core pieces that made people return to LLL time and time again was a really stupid, short-sighted business decision. I don't mind new, but when you get rid of products I loved and traded them for lower quality, poorly executed replacements that are not true substitutes, I'll be taking my money elsewhere.

It's also just flat-out insane to me that people continue to buy styles with horrible quality control issues - I don't give a rat's ass if LLL will repair something (and do a crappy job in the process). I shouldn't have to be taking brand new, $100+ dollar pants to get repaired after just one or two wearings, and it's frankly insulting to me that this service is even offered, since it's a blatant acknowledgement that this company is now predicated on low-quality products. Offer free hemming, whatever, but don't even pretend you "stand by your products" when you make products you know won't last just so you can fool people into thinking you care by offering repairs. It bugs me out when I see people praise LLL for great customer service in this regard when their only impetus for interacting with the company in the first place was because they were sold a poorly-made product. An eighth grader with a semester's worth of home ec sewing machine experience could do a better job (and the eighth grader would probably match thread, too...)

Omg - I loved reading all this. I'm a past lululemon employee (almost 10 years ago now, yikes!) and lululemon addict. It's beyond disappointing to see what's happened to this company. I still check the uploads most Tuesdays but I'm always disappointed. Design is "meh", quality is questionable, and colours - um what colours? Hope you like blue, grey, black and white cuz that's all your getting!!! WTH??!! We recently got a store in our small city and I was excited at first. I've been out of the lulu scene for awhile so I decided to try on every pant on the pant wall to see what I liked. I found 2 pairs I would wear and ended up purchasing them off the web with my X-mas giftcards to get the colour I wanted. I'm so sad that I didn't stock up on lined studio pants and cotton leggings when I had the chance. I recommend checking out Prana and Satva clothing especially if you like some options in cotton blends like I do. End rant! Lol!

Is it me or is the athletic department at Old Navy looking more appealing to the eye and the wallet then Lulu these days?
