I wore the CRB II to bootcamp this morning. I have to say I did like the more open back in terms of cooling. I wore it with a Strap It Like It's Hot Bra underneath so my back was a mess of straps. It's my favorite workout bra so the strap situation is usually messy-looking no matter what tank I wear over it. I often wear tanks with more open backs for workouts so the change in this tank isn't a big deal for me in terms of exposure. As for everything else, I didn't find the performance noticeably different from the CRB I - it's very comfortable and stayed in place nicely. The difference in length wasn't that noticeable to me and I like the slightly higher neckline. The thicker seaming at the back of the neck was a non-starter, I didn't even notice it. I don't know if I'll go on a big collecting binge with these since they're more of an athletic piece rather than a casual one but if a nice print or color comes along I'll probably get it. Anyone try it yet? What did you think?

Yup. Won't be buying any of the new CRB's.

I adore the new CRB II. I wore it for yoga and the interior stitchings didn't bother me. I didn't even notice them. I love how my girls don't spill out. I really like the thinner back. I sometimes feel like my CRB digs into my shoulder blades so I have to keep pulling it down. I didn't have to adjust this new tank at all. I also love the length. I"m 5'3" and it is so perfect. I can't wait to see more colors. I got all the colors. I like the camo print a lot. It looks great with my white Speed Short. I highly recommend this new tank. It also has very nice details on the seams. I kinda a feel like the old Lululemon detailed styling is coming back

Great, so it looks to be around a size bigger in width to go along with the rest of the things I hate about it. What about those of us who wear a size 2 and don't want it to be any looser? I wear a size 2 in CRB because it fits me better around my midsection, even though a 4 would be a tad better fit for my boobs (DD/E cup), the 4 was always baggy an unflattering around my waist. The only thing I think I like about it is that it is a tad higher cut around the front neckline and wish they could have just made this one change to original CRB.

Living in humid NC, I use my CRBs as casual wear. Most of the time it's okay for fun straps to show, but sometimes that isn't appropriate. Tweaking a good product isn't innovation. Show me some NEW colors!! How long has it been since we saw Current? Especially since True Red is close to Love Red which is more orange. I'd buy every color of the rainbow that matched my skin in CRBs if lulu would make them. Instead, it's repeat and tweak an old favorite. I wore a pair of Recognition pants early this morning. They are so soft, and the waist band is so thick. It just made me sad that I couldn't buy more.

It looked awful on me. Will never purchase.

I'm on the tall side, 5'8" with a long torso. I didn't care for the length. It wasn't horribly short like when they went through a phase of the crop run CRBs, but it was just enough that I guessed I wouldn't reach for it. I also didn't care for the fit on me. The CRB I fits my body type and needs better. If I'm going to spend a high price on a tank without a built-in bra, I'm going to be looking for special details or the ability to wear it casually. That said, I tried on the hounds camo print and I liked the fabric.

I will never buy the CRB ii. It is not as flattering as the CRB. I dislike the length, that it is wider, the paltry racerback and the v that it contains. Plus the interior finishing without flat seams--even if comfortable to some--is yet another cheapening of quality for the ridiculously increased price.

Since they have also increased prices on bras, swiftly shirts, and shorts, for anything that I am interested in, it'll be a patient waiting for wmtm. I won't care at all if I don't get something and if the wmtm price or in store md also tries to sucker customers, I won't purchase.

I wore mine to the gym today and I thought it was great! Performance wise it wasn't that much different than the CRB1 but I found that I wasn't fidgeting as much with it. The CRB1 always fell down in the front on me, especially on back days as I'm fairly small chested and I was always having to pull it up. I had far less issues with this version. I also liked that it was just slightly wider in the waist as it didn't stick to me when I got super sweaty. Overall I'm super happy with it and if it's the only one available in store going forward I'll continue to pick up the new colours. Ladies give this a try before you write it off for good! It may surprise you! :)

Hey guys,
Anyone knows if the stores are able to stick a small lulu logo back on?
TIA

Don't you just love the fake, glowing educator comments that are supposed to fool us here on this message board? It's so annoying and transparent.
"Yippee, I'm going to go buy one in every color!" Enough already.

I'm with you anon 5:29 PM, well said.

I sometimes wonder if it's the "educators" and the Lulu loving/wearing shareholders who come to the blogs with their gung ho comments during times like this... hoping their overly enthusiastic comments will rub off on others...

Anonymous said...

Nothing particularly special, imo. Especially at that price point.

Though I am glad the new CRB 2 works for you, LLA :), and for you 3:37, it does not flatter me at all. Instead, I have to agree with 5:04 (especially about the colors) and the other commenters.

I won't be buying the CRB 2 because, for me, it no longer works as a transition piece for layer at work to gym or casual to studio. The higher price and reduced versatility make me unwilling to buy it in the future.

The back exposes too much skin for me to feel comfortable. I tried on the new CRB with a lot of my lulu bras and only the All Sports "filed" in the skinny racer sufficiently. The FTBW looked cute enough with the CRB II, but that look is quite specific -- not a look towards which I'd gravitate on a daily basis.

Color-wise, my Iris Energy bra looked adorable peeking out of the neckline of the new Camo print CRB, but then I turned around and my shoulder blades were on display -- and not in a good way. Keep in mind, I carry most of my weight in my legs so I am not usually self-conscious about showing a bit of my back. However, the CRB 2 did NOT flatter my "wing" area.

Moreover, the new placement of the logo looks like an awkward "seconds" mistake.

The new length is not a problem for me since I am short, but my tall friend, like 5:19, said the length made the CRB 2 a no-go for her. Admittedly, I like the front of the new CRB just fine, perhaps slightly better than the old version. That being said, I am quite sad that the overall changes will keep me from buying lovely colors or patterns in the future. The CRB is no longer a classic staple IMO.

I'm sort of excited to see some of these changes in person. Change is hard especially when it involves price increases. But as I look around (Athleta, Lucy, etc.), I keep coming back to LLL because the grass is not always greener. I understand that people can score some good deals at places like Marshalls, but I know I'd be all excited until I wore the piece twice, never to wear again. So, to all the naysayers, "never say never."

@ anon 8:56 am - Totally agree, the CRB II can't double as a casual piece anymore. I also hate the new logo placement, I'd much rather see it at the hem. As a workout top, though, it's functional, comfortable, and flattering in the front. The back view is ok and a negative if you hate the multi-strap look and have back "wings".

Defiantly prefer Crb II. I have a very short torso so the originals were always stupidly long. Also like the skinner back (shows off strappy bras better)

Anonymous said...

As I said before, I am glad you at least find the new CRB functional for workouts, LLA. :)

Let me take this opportunity to tell you how much I LOVE your blog. I think your site is one of the reasons I feel in love with LLL so many years ago -- plus, the product was pretty great. Right now, I probably like LuluAddict more than Lulu itself.

Have a great weekend. (Anon 8:56)

Speaking of logos, does anyone know how to get rid of the logo? I really don't think twice when I see logos on other people but for myself I'd rather not wear logos. I've tried sharpie markers, which don't stay, but can they be scratched off or anything?

Any idea who/what/how 2livelaughlove253 on eBay is? They have a few profiles and over a couple thousand lulu items some NWT. Curious how they get so much stuff and if they are trustworthy to purchase from?

Anonymous said...

If the neckline is higher, that is an improvement.making it wider doesn't make any sense. I prefer yogsmoga's tank and also Sweaty Betty's, but only purchase when they are on sale.

Shorter and wider just won't work for me. Casual wearing options for the II are also more limited because the back doesn't work with a regular bra worn as a racerback. The regular CRB makes it possible to hide the straps. Not so with this one. And is the back lower cut on the II? It seems like the top of the band might peek out the back over the course of wearing it, as well.

Anon 3:42 - I'm the same bra size as you and I live in the regular CRBs in a 2, especially since Lulu's tanks with built in bras just don't work for me due to having to size up so much to get the bra part to fit.

Anonymous said...

I hate the new "CRB". Lululemon is cashing twice the money by using less fabric and increasing the price. Notice there
are not as many items that would be really long and required hemming for shorter customers compare to few years ago. So: price increase + less fabric + less free hemming requests = more money for Lulemon.

So because I actually like the CRBII, I am automatically an employee in disguise? It's impossible for an actual customer to like it? Sheesh... talk about sour grapes.

I went into my local store today. I saw the new cab's and thought they looked nice enough, although I didn't try one on. There was one in the new Super Purple colour, which is gorgeous and looked a lot like Bruised Berry. That said, what I can't swallow is the price. I just think $52 is too much for such a simple tank.

Anonymous said...

i totally agree with you. I really like CRB II also and been accused of working for Lululemon....

Anonymous said...

I do love the new CRB II very much. And I bought all 4 colors. I'm 5'3" and size 2. It is perfect on me. I am not an educator at Lululemon. I work as an ER nurse in NJ.

I thought the same thing! I love my new CRB2 but apparently people having different opinions is wrong. If you don't like the prices and the changes, then don't buy it. Dont hate on those of us that still enjoy the brand!

Anonymous said...

If someone has a different opinion they must be an employee? How narrow minded you are to think your opinion is the only one.

Anonymous said...

Completely agree with you Anons 4:42 AM & 5:54 AM.

I've seen this ii version in store and it's frumpy. The interior seaming at the racer back is awful. This tank is so pathetic that at $42 it would be laughable, and at $52 it is hysterical. What I really can't stand is LLL's goal of dumbing down the customer and those that fall for it.

Fully agree that it cannot double as a casual tank under t-shirts, sweaters and jackets, so the changes make it even LESS viable and this makes the increased price more insulting.

As for showing off straps, the FTBW with the CRBii looks so lame. The FTBW with the CRBi looks great.

I might try it on eventually. The CRB I is really low cut on me, but I love everything else about it. Not loving the look of the CRB II aside from the higher neckline. Still not jumping for joy over this.

@ anon 4:49 pm - What is the 4th color? My store had black, white, and the purple camo.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 10:19 am - Thanks!

Anonymous said...

LLA, my store also had power purple. I did purchase the camo and like the new look overall. LLM showed a SE CRBII in black. Has anyone seen it in store yet?

lulubell said...

I read somewhere else the 4th color is the new dark purple.

I'm 5'4" and I love the new CRB. Mind you, I usually wear my tanks under something else so I'm not too picky about the back. It looked fine though! What I love is the length. The old ones came down so far they were almost like a dress. The new length is perfect for me.

LuluAddict said...

@lulubell - the 4th color is Super Purple. I have a photo of it today.

Anonymous said...

Same, I'm with you! I don't even like the long sleeve swiftlys but am considering purchasing bc the purple is so pretty. I'm one of those who likes wearing my CRBs casually as well as for working out. I have a long torso so the CRB1 is my fav staple piece. Agree it's been in dire need of better colors. And yes, I am one of those stocking up on it in store and through wmtm. Not impressed the FTBW and define jackets went up in price. I am lucky to have a decent collection of them. But, they just jumped another $10 last year and NO improvements! I'll be thinking long and hard before I buy one at that price! So, I'm glad some love the new crb2. I'm not in a hurry at that price, it seem similar to the fast lane singlet? Which is on wmtm.

I'll tell you all what tank is the best imo...... studio tank in the vitassea (don't know how to spell it sorry), anyhow I have it in white light pink black and gray, it is a size down item to fit better (i'm a 34A, though), anyhow they never ofered that in pretty colors and as LLA has said it is super sturdy and really is a great tank w/ jeans, shorts skirts etc. Love it so much better than any of the crb, I have about 25 crb's too love that, havn't seen or tried the new one yet however.

Anonymous said...

Not sure if anyone will read this as the post is a few days old, but here it goes! I did try on the crb2 in store today in the super purple color. It wasn't as bad as I expected. I'm 5'7" long torso and the length was just ok. If it would shrink that would be an issue. It's definitely a more relaxed fit than the crb1, but in a comfortable way. I tried it on with my Shala bra (similar to hot spell). And in my TTS 6, the crossing straps at the top, just barely showed. I could definitely get away wearing this under a cardigan or layered for work. My bra did not show through the sides or over the chest. I think it would be good for working out in a hot gym or outside on a hot day as it won't be skin tight. I could definitely see this being a good top for the crossfit group. I almost bought it, but didn't want to spend $52, but mostly because of the seaming issue identified at the back. Where they sew the removable tag it was very sloppily stitched and even though I wouldn't see it while wearing it, knowing it was there would bug me. I think this top would hide a Flow Y straps well, or a similar style bra with crossed straps. I may buy it if the stitching improves, or if they put out a color I can't live without! I will choose to think of the sticker shock as slowing down my purchases and really I will have to LOVE it to buy it. Hope this review helps others. Agree with the reviewer who mentioned it may not work well for those who are size 2. It is a " relaxed fit." For me I would stay TTS. It fits well with muscular shoulders and didn't give me the dreaded "armpit bulge", so I really do give lulu huge props for that! If you have a muscular upper body check it out!

Ps. To my really long comment above. I wear a 32C and my TTS is 6.
