Honestly? Most of the photos in this post cater to the male gaze and do not represent clothing that furthers a woman's place in the world. I'm sorry but even with a fantastic body and even in super hot weather I do not want the distraction of sheer pants and a bondage-lingerie inspired sports bra. I want to run fast for my own health and achievement, not some man's fantasy. Yeah I love to wear clothing that flatters my figure but some of this stuff is just sleazy crap designed to please a man's eye.
They had the print in speed shorts in my store...ontario...but it reminded me of moody mirage so much with the black white grey blurred roses that I thought was a bit boring....I returned my moody mirage wuc after having them for year...never reached for them...thank goodness my store accepts returns...made one of the ed happy especially since they were 59...
The blonde yogi in the first two pics is very inspiring and is really selling me that crop top & leggings combo. I wish I looked like that doing yoga!
The Free to Be Zen bra looks like it was designed by Spiderman.
I can't wait for the obscurred print too! Super cute! Hope I don't miss out!
I really hope the FTBZ bra isn't going to replace the FTBW. It's the BEST bra for smaller chested girls like myself, and it seems like no matter what top you wear the straps always look cute. I've noticed that a good chunk of the FTBW have gone on markdown here in Canada and most of my stores only have all sizes in black and white. I'm not a huge fan of the way the FTBZ looks even without a top over it. I was desperately hoping for a power purple or clear mint FTBW bra, even the new rose blush would have been nice, but nope. I like the FTB bra but it's just not as fun to me.
I tried on the Obscurred print in a pair of Speeds here in Canada on Tuesday and I liked them, but ended up going with the Camo Houndstooth as I felt I have more pieces that they would work with. I may go back for them if some of the mauve coloured items from the UK are uploaded next week, but being fair skinned it kind of washed out my legs without something that complimented it on top.
The girl in the first 2 photos is from my store in Arlington VA, she is super nice and very helpful. And apparently in amazing shape.
@ anon 6:15 am - lol
@ Anon 9:48 PM, tell it, hallelujah. Well said and I completely agree.
As for the FTBZ bra, does not appeal to me. I'm a FTB and FTBW wearer and this one does not get me the way those do. This one looks like a mangled mess. Never mind that they probably want $52 or more and I have zero desire to pay that. FTBW is now $52, was $48 (orginally $42 when it was first released) and I won't be paying that either for the FTBW or FTB. Good thing I have a number of both. If they discontinue the FTBW, it will not surprise me. I understand that it has been a immense success for them, but you know, they make dumb decisions every day like discontinuing the CRBi and creating even more trashy looking clothes or completely boring, loungewear type stuff. It's one end of the spectrum or the other for this brand.
OT but I received someone else's Lulu order! I am returning it to lulu and hope whoever received my order does the same. :) Has that happened to any of you before?
The sculpt it tights has to be hands down the ugliest leggings LLL has ever made. They rank up there with the forever alone blanket and that convertible jacket, ( can't remember the name) that no one would buy. Even my hisband commented that they weren't just ugly but stripper-ish. I like the red bra featured above, ( can't remember the name) but would never pay close to the price they want for it. I think it was $74+ tax or something absurd like that...
@ anon 9:48 pm - I agree. I detest the sheer mesh in the run bottoms. I can accept it for an edgier look in yoga/dance wear but why would you want that in a run bottom. The current opaque mesh used in the Pace Rivals seems fine. The Fast As Light Muscle Tank seems terribly unfunctional to me - it will just flop up in inverted poses and seems too billowy in the front for running.
Anon 9:48pm My sentiments exactly. The Sculpt It Tights should get an award for the worst designed tights of the year award. This mesh obsession of theirs is making us look like sports is the last thing we should be doing wearing this stuff. It really does make me angry to see LLL making womens sportswear look so trashy. A large majority of their tank designs this year have had little to do with good design and function, rather how can we design another tank that will push the sales of our bras. When you are so focused on one thing and one thing only, design goes down the tank (pun intended) and we are left with cheap looking, uninspiring designs that should never have seen the light of day. Do you see mens sportswear look so trashy and objectifying? No because they couldn't get away with it.
I am all for fun exciting designs and if that means showing off some skin hey that's fine but I think LLL is pushing it too far all in the name of the almighty buck.
I don't understand how little holes down the side can be defined as "extra ventilation" Teeny holes don't make something more breathable. And I also cannot imagine wanting to run in something that functions like hosiery. Ugh. No.
Ummmm....I'm a woman, and it's pleasing to my eye and fun to wear :)). I respect your opinion...
I do yoga and I would never wear these for yoga. Personally not a fan of any of the mesh styles of yoga crops/pants. It isn't functional or useful to me in any way and definitely not my style. I've been to quite a few super amazing yoga studios for classes and have never been to any yoga classes where 'fashion' and being 'edgy' seems to be a priority to anyone there, and honestly, I'm really glad about that. ...I guess maybe it's more common to see in the more westernized 'trendy' types of yoga that have popped up in western countries and seems to be so popular these days...
I agree anon 9:48 PM. I love wearing clothes that flatter my figure, it's one of the biggest reasons I was drawn to Lulu. I like fitted clothes that show off my figure, I like sexy, but sexy in a classic and classy and fun and cute and feminine kind of way and without showing off an unnecessary amount of skin. I don't like cheap trashy and sleazy and showing off unnecessary amounts of skin, that isn't sexy or classy, imo.
I didn't even notice the location until you pointed it out! I was just there a couple of days ago for the rooftop workout. she does look great!
Has anyone tried the outrun crops? I hate the mesh but I love the length and the pockets. I'm thinking about ordering them.. Just wondering if anyone has tried them. The mesh does look like it would be uncomfortable.
Sorry this is off topic, but I was in the store this evening and was told the groove pants are going online only... Which means they will phase them out?? I don't know how many wear them but as a yoga teacher I live in them and the talls fit me perfectly. I was devastated to hear it. Has anyone else heard that? Thanks!
@YogaBear - I have not heard this year but I am not surprised. I wonder what is next, Wunder Unders and Energy Bras?
@ anon 12:55 pm - Agree 1000%. I think that is why a lot of women are/were so loyal to the brand - you can look sexy but not trashy. Now the brand seems to be trending towards trashy.
@YogaBear - I put a post in one of my lulu FB groups and a few other people have heard that Grooves are moving to on line only, too. These are the pants that made the brand famous, too. :'(
If I wanted to run in cropped panty hose, I'd take a pair of scissors and whack 4" off a pair of sheer energy by L'eggs! A lot cheaper and just as fugly! Seriously!
I'll be sad if they discontinue the Groove Pants. It really seems like everything I ever loved has been ruined and/or discontinued. There is less and less that I even like from Lululemon anymore. Only a few pieces that I still look forward to, but even then, not as much now that the prices are at the point of being ridiculous for what these items really are. I sometimes wonder if they truly are trying to get rid of everything that made Lululemon what is is today... including the customers from that time... it sure seems like it...
One of my best scores on WMTM was a pair of black tall skinny groove pants. Love those pants! I got a great deal on them, too. And then I think they stopped making the skinny ones?
They did stop making them, sadly. I really wish that they would bring back the Skinny Grooves (with original waistband) and the Grooves with original waistbands too! Love, love love these pants so much. They are iconic and classic Lulu and should never be discontinued, imo. Sure, make new things, but keep the iconic classics alongside the new.
