Cool Racerback II Photos (Updated with More Photos)

Thanks to Ms. R. for providing some early photos of the new Cool Racerback II. The new racerback portion is thinner but it doesn't look as though the armholes in the back have dropped at all, leading to odd proportions. When I get some photos of the entire back I will post them. Initial reaction to the redesign is not positive, particularly given the $10 increase.

Ms. R. provided some nice comparisons - new CRB on the left and old on the right.

New CRB on top of the old. Someone in the groups mentioned they don't care for the position of the logo and I have to agree. It would be better moved down near the hem, like in the Exhale version. Also, I think this tank would work better aesthetically with a slightly lower armhole in the back.

For length comparisons, here is the Studio Racerback on top of a CRB. It looks like the new CRBII is very close in length to the SRB. Hmm, I find the SRB a tad short.

New purple camo print CRBII. Power Purple is back, too.

I won't buy them that is for sure no thanks like others have said i've got a ton and i'll keep them now also if i so desire i can find them on ebay as well!!!! Like scuba II, i have a collection mostly from ebay! Now on to new designers..... I have a ton of lulu and it should last me for ever!

It's hard to tell from these photos, but is there a sewn line across the back partway down? Kind of looks like it from what I can see. Not loving the changes from what all I can tell from the photos. I don't like the new neckline as seen from the back or the new narrower cut racerback. Why does every single tank have to show off the most amount of bra possible? I know, I know, they want to sell more bras to match, but seriously, why can't we have a better balance, why do they all have to be like that? I loved having the option to purchase a basic no frills tank top that had good amount of coverage like the CRB was and I will most definitely miss it. I won't be racing out to scoop up whatever is left of the CRB, even though there a few colours left now that I wouldn't have minded having. I have a decent little collection already and I'm going to leave it at that, not feeling like giving Lulu any more of my money these days. I feel like I'm done supporting this company. I'll look elsewhere for a nice basic tank that isn't going to cost more than what it's actually worth. I don't feel any need to pay extra for a name, which is what I think we're paying for when we purchase Lulu these days, the brand's name and not much else.

POWER PURPLE!!!!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜

Not paying $10 extra that's like a $70 tank here in BC Canada haha... No. I'm glad I already have a bunch

The only bright spot is that the old CRBs are super cheap now. WMTM has them down to $29. Most colors aren't marked down yet, but I'm sure they will be reduced.

Yuck.
Not a fan :(
And!
52$ + 15% tax = 59.60$ for a tank that does not have a built in bra?
No thanks.

Too short for me I'm afraid...why does Lulu always want to reinvent the wheel?...if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Power purple! YAY! <3 Now I can pull out my old Vinyasa that matches absolutely nothing.

What can I say? I'm 6'2", a fitness trainer and an athlete living in SoCal. I wear CRBs every day for work and for leisure time. And I'm sure I'm speaking for many tall ladies...
So so SO disappointing to hear about the change!

Yup, this totally sucks! So many core products loved by us Luluaddicts have been (and will be) discontinued. Hate the new CRBs and absolutely will not buy any.

@ anon 3:25 pm - good eye! I didn't even notice the horizontal seam. It could be a fold line but I tend to think not. I definitely need more photos but from the try on photos I saw I wasn't loving it.

LS swiftly tops already increased in price. Does anyone know if the short sleeve crew necks are slated to increase too?! 58 is already insane for me when most of the colours are see through in daylight.

Are you sure the price increase isn't just reflected for the new price increases set for Canada? Perhaps no price increase on new crb in USA?

Anon 3:25pm My feelings exactly. I didn't purchase one tank this summer or sports bra, kind of a mini revolt against their lack of tanks with some decent coverage. With their focus on designing tanks that expose a lot of the sports bra they have designed me out of their tanks. I have to say that most of the tanks have not piqued my interest anyway. With what little detail they may have has been focused on the back I have found a lot of the fronts really plain and ugly and not worth the money.

Regarding the newly designed CRB it doesn't look like they took too much off the length but I don't see why it was necessary to make the racerback narrower other than to use less fabric.

So much product in the past year looks like their main goal was to make it as cheaply as possible with design, function and detail an afterthought. I fear that we see will a lot less product that costs more to produce where they are unable to get the cost down such as jackets and this year has been dismal in the jacket dept. I will be curious to see what changes, if any, we will see in fall and winter fabrics and designs. If LLL takes this "on the cheap" mentality into the fall/winter season, they will not get my money simply based on it being Lululemon, no way no how.

I do NOT like the changes AT ALL from what I can tell. I especially hate the new skinner back. Although I will likely try the CRB, I can't imagine keeping it since I now use the CRB as a layer for work which I can then transition into going to the gym or yoga studio. The new version will no longer be appropriate and functional for me. (Moreover, IMO the current CRB shows more than enough skin -- AND my cute bras peek out plenty.)

The length of the CRB II won't be a problem for me personally since I'm a shortie. However, I get my CRBs hemmed so the length of the original CRB was never an impediment to my buying them. (In fact, I have a very large collection from over the years. Thank goodness.) I can't imagine that any of my taller friends will appreciate the change.

I am SERIOUSLY disappointed.

Ps. And the new price tag makes it additionally unlikely that I will impulse-buy the new version. :( BOOO.

Weill I am 5.1 and love the lenght of the old CRB. I wear a size 4 and it looked great on me. It had this classic design that never would look dated. Will not be purchasing the new version. The new price is a joke too. Actually I seriously consider stop shopping/ordering from LLL completely.

Hate it. That is it for me. I'm done with LLL. Good thing I have a good supply. Including CRBs and will buy a few more. LLL is trying to use the name of the tank to make people think it's a CRB when it is not a CRB! Change to name of the item since you're so desperate to get rid of anything Chip created.

As for a tank with a built-in bra, that does not make it worth more money. I hate built-ins, exact reason I live the CRB. Can wear own bra (FTB or FTBW or Flow Y), it is endlessly versatile and I love the length (I'm 5'5").

I think I like the new thinner racerback. It does remind me of the fastlane singlet (I liked the shape of that but hated the fabric so I ended up giving it to my daughter).

I am concerned about the fit of the armholes. Also, I am 5'8" so I'm not sure the shorter length will work for me.

I will give it a try, but I will have to LOVE it and not just like it for the higher price tag. I have plenty of CRBs in my closet ... so I do not need to rush into a new style.

I'm dying, as a tall girl (6ft) the CRB was my reliable lulu top! Lately, the CRB's and swiftly's are the only things I've been buying, and I don't LOVE swiftly's they're more of a necessity for summer running. This is SERIOUSLY bumming me out. The thing that initially drew me to lulu BIG TIME was that they designed for taller girls as a default and others could have their things hemmed if needed, now it seems like they're getting away from that and i'm going to cry :(

I'm only 5'4" and I love the length of the CRB. I only have a few of them (honestly I can't afford too many lululemon products, especially since the quality has gone down) but they were perfect for everyday living plus the gym. Also wore them a lot when I was pregnant as nothing else covered my huge belly (that's including maternity styles). I'm just annoyed with lulu in general lately, and haven't bought anything in ages. The Canadian price increase is definitely going to keep me away.

I like that it is shorter, but I am short, they should make a tall version and also add more coverage in the bust area. I don't buy the CRB anymore due to the lack of coverage I hate working out in a tank where I have to constantly be checking that I am not flashing cleavage.

Tried it today. It's so awful.
