I need dusty mauve things in my life.

I think it might be time for a turnover in the design dept. or they should all go on a retreat to re-energize from getting burnt out from working with mesh too long. Seriously, the Sculpt Tights with a seam running down the back of the calf is just so bad it's laughable. So NuLux is supposed to feel like pantyhose and that's supposed to be a good thing? So it looks like pantyhose, feels like pantyhose, will it run like pantyhose? Will they sell these with a bottle of nail polish to use to stop the runs? Why not save $100. and just buy some pantyhose or better yet pull out those oldies tucked away in the back of your drawer, you know those black ones with the seam running down the back of leg. Also, placing those seams on the front of the waistband running down onto the abdomen does nothing asthectically and the end of those seams look like an unraveling disaster just waiting to happen. I can't believe well I guess I can believe that when all they are working with is mesh what else is left to do but make them look like pantyhose, literally. If they have spent the time and money to come up with a new mesh fabric well I guess mesh ain't going away anytime soon.

I'm liking Dusty Mauve color. And that FTBW bra in seal will be mine . If it makes to US of course

Easy pass for me. 1. I run nylons when i'm being careful - can't imagine what happens when i'm working out 2. dull black/grey/mauve - i know we're going into fall but these colors just drain me - these combos don't do anything for my complexion. Disappointing as usually the beginning of a month is more exciting.

Even though there's a lot of black/gray going on here, I have to say this is the first time in a while that I've been excited by new product.

Love the rose print, the gray boolux sweater, the Sculpt It crops, and the bucket bag, though big pass on it costing $118. Tomorrow's upload should be interesting.

Be interesting to see how that side seaming will hold up. They did that not too long ago in tops and they fell apart pretty fast. I guess this is the "innovation" we're seeing that they are saying justifies the price increases (you can see it but i'm rolling my eyes here).

The Obscurred Black Dusty Mauve (? not sure where the mauve is in it) reminds me of brisk bloom a little bit too.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 7:54 am - For sure. They've done that open seaming in pants before but I've avoided that it like the plague. It looks like an easy failure point. It also goes way too high up the leg and exposes underwear.

@ anon 6:18 pm - I don't care for the seam down the back of the calf either. MichNY popped up in the comments under my post about the upcoming CRBII and if you look at their leggings you'll see a lot of the same design elements - open seams, seams down the back of the leg, like WWII-era stockings.

@ gordonsgrl - I like the Dusty Mauve but it tends to be draining on me, too.

No way am I spending $118 on tights with open seams, and definitely not on any pants that can be described as being "like pantyhose."

I like the new rose print but it does feel like lulu has released a ton of black and white prints recently. I hope we get a more colourful floral print soon.

So they're supposed to be like nylons? I mean, I can't imagine working out in nylons. That sounds SO uncomfortable. It would be one thing if it was to-die-for cute, but it's not.
I'm also not too into the new print and mauve color. Throw backs are cool, but it really seems like this is almost an exact copy of an older print that I can't remember the name of (and didn't like that well the first time). If they're going to "throw back" to old stuff, why don't they use the really COOL technical stuff that just WORKED? I would kill for another pair of runday crops that I didn't have to pay $175 -used- for.

Muted mauve from late summer / fall 2011. Released with rocksteady, ghost...also when the snowy owl print was released. Seems like they're taking a cue from that time-period....

I was in a design meeting 1.5 years ago which is when I first heard of the nulux fabric. If I remember correctly, a factor in its design and development was that yogis, particularly ashtanga yogis were complaining of thick seams and fabrics, and fussy designs that got in the way of their practice.

Print kinda reminds me of moody mirage that had greys black and light pink mixed in with blurred rose print

Anonymous said...

The dusty mauve looks good with a tan but this colour just doesn't work with my skin ton. Is it just me or does the new colour "greyvy" have purple in it, almost looks like a lighter nightfall?

lulubell said...

Yes, Anon 9:29! I couldn't put my finger on what the print reminded me of. It totally gives me the moody mirage vibe.

The new black and white rose print is really pretty, I like it a lot from what I can tell here, but I won't be purchasing. I prefer the original waistband WUC rather than the high waist version and I also prefer Luon rather than Luxtreme. My tops ride up on Luxtreme, the Luon holds my tops down nicely and I prefer the cottony feel. Anyway, will most likely not be making anywhere near as many purchases as I used to from here on out. Will wait for WMTM, although not much of a deal these days for most things, at least the prices will be more like what the regular price should be. I have enough Lulu that if I miss out it isn't a big deal, don't actually need anything anyway.

Those new mesh pants and crops are tacky.

Anonymous said...

The material that the newest tote bag (can't remember the name) and new Buckets of Fun bag is made from looks kind of yucky and not worth the price. Not sure what it's like in person, but from the photos it looks kind of gross and cheap.

Anonymous said...

anon 9:20 AM, it looks like there are tons of seams in those new mesh crops and pants though.

I love yoga and it's what got me into Lululemon ages ago (I also went to a private pilates studio three times a week back then in addition to yoga studio). The bottoms they had then were what I loved, the original classic Wunder Under crops and pants, the original Groove pants and crops, etc, I loved all of these (and too bad they replaced them with the newer versions). I absolutely hate all the mesh styles they've been shoving down our throats lately, too many seams, and the mesh is most definitely not my style. I wish they would keep a better balance of styles. Better balance of mesh bottoms to classic bottoms, better balance of "show off your bra" (and as much skin as possible) tanks and tops to more classic styles of tanks and tops that keep the bra (and other bits) covered. I don't feel like saying the classics are outdated is a good enough excuse to replace them all with the latest most trendy styles, because imo, classics never go out of style, that is why they are classics. I feel like you can't go wrong with having classic styles as an option in addition to more trendy styles, at least then not alienating the customers who prefer them. Sorry for going off on a long rambling rant!

Ooh, I would like to see a return of ghost/snowy owl! I was finishing school and couldn't afford anything! I would also like to see a return of "dream rose," such a beautiful print :). Not sure about the above patterns and mauve doesn't work for my complexion. Glad I have enough shorts/ crops to last me a while. New price hikes are a bit much. And, I tried on those tight $158 ones when they were $148 - fabric just felt as though it would rip down the seams (just as all the comments have said). Looks like my wallet is getting a lulu break :). I would LOVE the herringbone white define that Australia got, us Canucks missed it first round when the USA got it. *sigh* I NEED that one.

Does that new Sculpt It bra have pockets, like the Run Stuff Your Bra? If so I might have to pick one up.

Anonymous said...

Hi Anon 12:37pm My thoughts exactly. It didn't sound like you were ranting but rather someone who has more intelligence than the ones making these decisions.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 9:20 am - Interesting. I wonder what product they were working out in. The only fabric I ever felt constrained me was thick, polyester full on luxtreme and full on luon. I think they've figure out full on luxtreme now, with the 69% nylon/31%spandex mix but not sure about full on luon. That's a fabric I stay away from, for the most part.

@sharviss - from what I have heard black/gray/white/neutrals is the direction of the future. Not sure how that's going to work out for the run line. Hopefully, it's just the "studio" stuff.

I like the Obscured Black Dusty Mauve print but I already have three pairs of black and white print bottoms: Heatwave WUCS, Nami Wave and Dottie Tribe Pace Rivals.

LuluAddict said...

Oh shoot, I forgot I also have Dottie Tribe WUPs, so 4 pairs of black/white print pants.

Anonymous said...

Not digging any of the stuff and the mesh is tacky as all of you are mentioning.
FYI I rarely see any people wearing mesh in my ashtanga (mysore) classes, peple in those classes seem to be very discrete and they spend their money on classes and training instead of clothing, at least in my studio.

@ anon 12:37 I completely agree that classics are classics for a reason! I just stocked up on swiftly's and CRBs for that reason, ( and of course the price hikes.
When I changed careers and left banking I swore I would never wear another pair of panty hose if humanly possible, which is probably why I don't own a single pair of Lulu's that have mesh in them. Panty hose to work out in? Yep. No.

@ LLA, I was thinking the same thing as to your comment on black and white. I have 4 pairs, including the Dottie tribes and therefore more than enough. Not including my herringbone ones for the winter.

@Lulubell: I agree with you, just wore my moody mirage yesterday but as least there is colour variation in them, black, white, 2 gray shades with pops of two tone pink. The ones above look like a plainer cousin...

sculpt it crops are cute!!!

I like the detail on the Yin Time LS. Boolux works for me too. I like the blue cast to the new color Greyvy. I like the New Buckets of Fun bag...I don't have the Diversity bag. I reserve judgement on the New Sculpt It Tights until I see and try on. If they perform, that's what matters. I actually like the added aeration the holes in the seams give. I have a crop with that. Has not been an issue.

I've been critical for a while now of what has been coming out the past few months. 1st time I've had any kind of positive reaction. Hoping that's a good omen of what's to come.

@ lululover 7:05 AM, the Seal Gray/Battleship Gray Free to Be Wild came out in April 2016 for North America. It sold out almost instantly. (I have it and it is one of the few online orders I do versus thinking it would show up in store.)

Seams down the back of stuff, and too many seams, sounds again like what a man thinks a woman "should" look like in her workout gear. Too many seams chafe. Agree with LLA that the open seams are failure points. Fabric that feels or acts as pantyhose, goodness no! Talk about misguided! Agree again that they are going for looks, it's not about practicality. The mesh is a lack of imagination and a cost saving measure. It also means the clothing does not have longevity, which is probably an immense bone of contention for LLL Corporate. Even though their enormously loyal customer base has continued to buy new items all the time over the years, they probably really hate that people hang onto it as items have held up so well, and surely they hate the re-sale market even more.

Forget light bottoms. All my bottoms are black, dark grey or navy because of the sweat factor. (Some speed shorts excepted if they have a pattern.) Those of you who don't sweat here, god love you, I don't know how that is possible for some people.

On the rumoured muted palette: hello, Kit & Ace inspire you much LLL by way of muted/neutral? There's only so much of that you can produce before people simply say "it's the same, same, same."

Lululover said...

Not digging the new print. I wish they instead upload blooming picie black/slate that Australia got last spring

Whatever happened to circle mesh? If they insist on using mesh at least use something that is comfortable and flattering. I have several tanks from years ago that have it and they are comfy, breathable and look amazing still. I also only bought the Real Quick Crops from this year as they had circle mesh on the lower leg. It's more discreet and is a darker black, if I have to buy something with mesh I wish they would do it right for gosh sake.

Anonymous said...

No just no... all bad

Anonymous said...

What I appreciate about black/white prints or more neural prints in general (I'm talking bottoms here) is that I can wear a myriad of bright color tanks with it. I ended up selling all my bright colored crops and pants as well as bright printed bottoms. Speed shorts are of course an exception. Love the bright solids and prints in those.

Am I the only one who thinks that this roses print looks like eyeballs when seen from afar?

chingaling ling said...

Was just going to say the same thing...reminds me of Black Roses which I loooved. I hope it comes out in items I don't already have so I can justify getting this new print.

Hi, M, I agree with what you wrote. I don't go to ashtanga classes, although did for a little while when I first started yoga, as well as kundalini. I prefer hatha and yin most of all so I stick with those. But I've noticed the same thing with all the yoga classes at the yoga studios I've been to as well. Yoga is treated as more of a lifestyle than just a form of exercise, as it should be. An exception is the yoga classes offered at gyms and other general fitness studios, which I have tried in the past when I first started and personally did not like, there is definitely a different overall vibe in these classes.

7:05 I totally agree with your comment about the circle mesh. I still have a lot of pieces with circle mesh and it is soft it breathes and it holds it's shape. Why discontinue it.
