New What We Love

lululemon lucent-tank
What We Love this week is all about the Lucent fall/winter (?) run stuff. The pattern is embroidered on with reflective thread.

lululemon lucent-tank
The Lucent Tank ($98) is rulu light not nulu light, like Pop Sugar claimed. Whatever, it seems late in the season for rulu light run tops. Potdevin needs to get a grip on the delivery schedule. Way too many items are arriving late or entirely out of season. As for rulu light run tanks, please bring back the First Base tank (for the FALL).

lululemon lucent-pace-queen-tight
Brushed luxtreme tights in mid-March. Way to go. ($148)

lululemon lucent-jacket
I liked the front of the jacket a lot but don't care for the look of the back at all. ($198)

lululemon lucent-short

$88

I don't care for that rose print and not interested in general in any of these things. I'm very happy to say that I pretty much cured from my addiction . I have been buying for years 2-4 items every upload. And sometimes even go to the store in between. I only purchased a pair of align pants in inkwell, what the sport tee in chalk and Tranquil tank in black since the beginning of February! I still might buy a cute tank ( I'm waiting for Stop At Nothing) , but I don't have this need to have several items in the color I like.

I am so disappointed in the back of the jacket. The front had such promise!

@sharviss - I agree! However, $198 + tax saved! :)

YES TO THE FIRST BASE TANK AND STOP AT NOTHING TANK! WWL was not much of a sneak peak when we got to see all of this days ago here. The front of the Lucent tank is cut too narrow as it shows the bulge of skin made by most sports bras. I know I may sound too picky but I am long past 30 and my skin isin't as tight and firm as it used to be!!! I was hoping the back of the jacket would be longer but it doesn't matter because I wouldn't by buying another black jacket right now nor would I pay 198. for it. Very strange to be releasing this line right now and poor Katelin doing her best to make it sound perfectly fine and wonderful as a mid-March release, not to mention that some of the previous reflective gear line is still for sale.

Hate florals and these prices. It's been a good ~4 months since I purchased anything.

First, congratulations, Lululover! We're all here because we have a problem. :)

Second, I used to buy multiple things in colors I liked, too, but where are the colors??? If they had a week of Pretty Purple or some nice springy blues and greens, I would probably still pile up some purchases, but bordeaux drama (which most of us loved but now loath) has just been replaced by red grape. Ok, it's a slight difference, but I'm not really in the mood for burgundy when the tulips and daffodils are blooming.

And the prints are equally uninspiring. They're ok, but when they do come out with something I like, they only release a few items in it, so it's pretty easy to resist.

One positive comment I have is that they do seem to be working on more uniform color statements. I'm seeing solids and prints that coordinate, which is definitely a step in the right direction. Now, just make them a color palate other than black/gray/burgundy and maybe I can find some new clothes!

I'm not interested in any of this stuff because I'm not a runner, I walk a lot but not at night, so don't need stuff like this, but I have to say I actually really love the reflective rose pattern! It's gorgeous, especially compared with all the other hideous and totally ugly reflective stuff they've had in the past. I actually like the back of the jacket! Not sure what others don't like about the back, but like the front? I agree, this stuff seems late in the season, but it's not like it's going to fade away, it will still be around for next fall and winter if purchased now. Just some positive thoughts to counter all the negative ones, and this is coming from someone who has no problem hating on Lulu (like with the DSP and Scuba changes, price increases and other Lulu nonsense) ;)

@ anon 7:43 pm - I don't care for the belt/peplum look of the back of the jacket.

@lululover--me too! Your buying habits sound exactly like mine. I've only bought a couple of sports bras, 2 tranquil tanks, and DSPs from WMTM since beginning of Feb. I purchased the stealth uploaded var-city crop (they've since mysteriously disappeared off the site) in black with a gift card. It feels good!

Thanks for the reply LuluAddict! I can certainly understand that, some people just don't care for the peplum style. And I understand concern for stuff arriving late in the season as well, I'm not too bothered by this special edition line arriving late, as it kind of stands alone, not like pieces arriving late in the season that are meant to match up with other pieces that have already arrived and are available, if that makes sense, that is most definitely a huge problem that they need to address for sure.

Forgot to add - agree with others on the ridiculous prices. Even if I needed or wanted any of this stuff the prices are too high for what they are.

Because these are being so promoted, and they are expensive to make/unusual, I'm sure these will sell out.

Personally, I can't justify the investment for my lifestyle. Like some of the others, I've picked up some great basics over the past few months (the Studio II's on WMTM, an extra pair of black Jet Crop Slims). Not the limited editions right now. I feel like I can get some bra's and tanks from other brands.

However, I have discovered and invested in a few things from Kit and Ace for work. I'm liking the construction and quality so far.

Yup, $198 saved! I really hope we get the heathered Pink Paradise long sleeved Swiftly that Hong Kong got. So pretty!

$88 for the shorts!!! Absurd!!! I do like the cut of Lululemon shorts but honestly I could get three pair of Nike or under armour shorts for that price.

Not sure if you'd consider this late in the season if they are offering a tank and a pair of shorts. People run at night all year around and with spring forward it ends up being dark in the mornings, which is why I'm considering this. Reflective gear is always expensive for every brand. Not sure why but I notice that to be the case.

Agree on the comment on the delivery schedule. I don't really think they have a cohesive colour story going at all, not compared to the past. As for the above items, I would not have bought them in the Fall and I won't buy them now: zero appeal for "design" and print.

Pfft I was cured of my addiction about 2 years ago. I started to self edit myself and sold a lot of stuff not getting worn. I was always selective and am now very, very, VERY selective. There is still SOME great quality and design but for me, few and far between. I often wait for md or wmtm. I don't care if I miss an item. The majority of what I have bought last year and this year has been on markdown. Including the Down for a Run pullover and the Fluffed Up vest (my second, I love my first one from a year ago so much). Have picked up several FTB bras on sale too (mostly in store), including today! Was just lucky although I was going in for the Pink Paradise CRB.

Pink Paradise CRB is a lovely, perfect colour (and not neon!) and is a flattering colour for my skin. It is soft but it is also on the thinner side.

@ BIA - It's a tank made out of light rulu, not exactly a cool material for a time of year when we're leaving behind cooler weather. If you look back through the blog, light rulu First Base tanks came out in October. Also, brushed luxtreme tights are pretty warm for March, even in northern US states. I don't understand why they didn't embroider crops or Speed Tights. The whole collection strikes me as something you'd put out in the fall.

I think part of why this seems like a winter release is the styling. If they showed the shorts with a white background and the pink paradise CRB, I'd being saying, "Oh, I need that whole outfit!" Ok, the price tag might still be off-putting, but at least the interest would be there. The dark styling may show off the reflectivity, but it's not too appealing. I've had about enough of darkness and dark clothes. Bring on the light and the color!

If I were in the market for a black lightweight jacket (which I am not) I would check this out. BUT for 198. it would have to meet and exceed my expectations for a technical lightweight jacket. I like the back to cover my bum but with this jacket, it's a catch 22 because if it covers the bum then the embroidered stitching is going to get worn over time if there is any sitting in this jacket. This jacket may have to be designated as a "no sitting down" jacket. Also, I have read a lot of reviews about poor quality seams/ stitching so I would be leary paying this much for a jacket and worried about the quality of the embroidery and how it will hold up to many washes.

The prices for these items are comparable to Sweaty Betty and some of the Nike run line. The only thing I would get is the ice queen tight.
