Studio Pants Being Discontinued

lululemon-studio-pant
Studio Pants - better stock up.
Studio Pants, a personal favorite of mine, are being discontinued. Awesome. I believe the Street to Studio Pants are supposed to take their place. I am not a fan of the STS at all, I think they give a lot of people diaper-butt, and don't own a single pair. The only hope of getting them back is to complain at Hey, Lululemon.

:( The STS pants aren't even pants! Yet another closet staple I consistently buy that Lulu is discontinuing. The STS's are terrible. The bottom is super tight on my calves - and I don't even have big calves! My tts I can't pull up enough to avoid the drop crotch because they won't go past my calves and the size up is still tight in the calves but looks horrible in the but and crotch and fall down. Weirdly designed in my opinion. Poor decision on Lulu's part.

I guess instead of solving known issues (rolling waistbands) they'd rather discontinue items instead and lose longtime customers.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I guess I better buy a few pairs, then.

This is very disappointing! I have to purchase the tall DSP so I only have black & gray but I love them... I do own several pairs of the STS pant and if you size down they don't give you diaper butt :) but they can never take the place of the DSP. Especially in the Winter, the STS is sooo short on me I would freeze. The STS is a crop on people with a long inseam.

i never got the appeal of these, i think they look like scrubs.

@ anon 9:08 am - I know! STS's are crops. I don't want cold ankles in the fall. I think the STSs look like mom pants. The rolling waistband is just a matter of buying better elastic to put in the waistband. I have an older pair of DSCs that don't roll because there is a better quality of elastic in the waistband.

Just when I become obsessed with these for work they discontinue! NOOO! I wear a pair everyday, I'm definitely going to need to stock up.

NOOOOOO!!! Why are they doing this??? Seriously... I'm still mad from when they discontinued the 105 singlet (with scalloped edges) and the groovy run short.

NOOO! Just when I became addicted to this and started wearing them to work everyday. I was hoping for more colors over the years. This is a total let down. I'm going to need to stock up on the colors they currently have. I have a few pairs of the cropped version too and they are completely different. I work in an ice rink so need the longer version so they cover my legs and top of my skates. There is no way I could wear the cropped version to work.

@ anon 9:27 am - Certain colors, Blue Denim and Vintage Green, definitely looked like scrubs. I think the Street to Studio Pants are way more Mom-Pants looking.

Nooooo! I guess I better stock up! I have been checking every upload for the brown ones since I saw a photo of them on here a month or two ago. Where are they?! I need them!

You're all exactly right. I wear my lined studio pants in the winter all the time. How can they expect the STS to be a replacement?? They don't even cover your ankles!

That totally sucks!!! They are my favorite pants of all time and the whole reason I started shopping at lulu to begin with. I got a little worried that something like this was happening over the summer when they were almost out of black, but then they restocked so I figured crisis averted. How stupid though. They sell out immediately whenever they release new colors: gator green, plum, etc... A major disappointment...

And the STS crops are fug unless you really have the right body type for them. The best thing about DSPs is that they look great on everyone!

Do you know what the origin of the rumor is? Thanks for passing on the news! I just ordered a back up pair and they are almost out already online.

Street to Studio pants - epitome of Mom streetwear crops. (sorry, no disrespect to moms as i am mom myself). I really hope this a bad rumor geared to drive sales of the original Studio pant...

Maybe its time for a break.. I'm getting sick of the hurry up and buy it before it sells out frenzy. It was fun at first, but frankly has become exhausting. We should at least be able to count on staples in staple colors. They might as well discontinue the WUs..

Do you think these will show up on WMTM this week?

Anonymous said...

Well I guess if you can't fix it, discontinue it! The waistband issues have just gotten worse. Doesn't seem like it would be that hard to fix.... Too bad

It's not true! See heylululemon for an update :)

Nooooo!@#$%$#$%#@#$!!!!!!! Studio Pants are my staple. I am a holistic practitioner and wear these almost every single day. I have been waiting every week for the Bark Chocolate Brown that was released in HK to come here. I will not buy STS. Bad butt look. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Discontinued!!?????!!! I have been wearing Studio's for years. I just rebought this year a few more pairs. I have never had a single issue (ie: waistband) in all the years and all the pairs I have.
Just cant believe this post. LLA, are you sure it is true??
Grrrrrrrr!!!!!

No!!!!
I have 4 pairs : grey, black, olive green & white.
I tend to wear the black pair the most, so I think that I will buy an extra pair if they go on sale.

@Anon 11:21am - the Black DSP always wind up selling out, every fall/winter, so they'll never go on sale (unless of course there's a production/quality issue, and then of course you wouldn't want them.)

Thank God these are just rumors. I have studio pants in black, slate, burgandy, blue, green, purple and the crops in light grey, white...yes i am a bit obsessed. :)

I wear STS regularly - do not consider them pants by any means but they are also not 'mom' pants?? Or diaper pants. Thought I do have squatter's a$$ a plenty to fill them in proper. I find the studio pants are too flared at the bottom and that dates them. I have tried them on a few times hoping they will magically work, but they don't. I would love to see the return of the Quickstep with the slimmer fit at the bottom.

@ anon 3:06 pm - I guess they could take a little out of the flare at the bottom to update them a bit but I think a wide-legged, full not crop length pant made of swift material is a nice option to offer. Not everything has to be the peg leg/jogger pant fashion look. These are stretchy pants made to sweat in and be useful for things like hiking and shlepping your chairs, EZ up, and cooler full of juice boxes and orange slices to soccer games on the weekend. I'm dressed for comfort and function when I wear them. I wish they'd offer a Stillness/Still pant-type option in the swift material.

@ Anonymous Chezhire71
I meant that if they decide to discontinue them & send them all to WMTM sort of like they did for the Still pants.
I do agree with you though, I don't think that I have ever seen a black pair on sale.

Anon 3:06 PM - everyone is different of course and what may not work for one may work for another. I hate the Street to Studio Pants, and not because I can't fill out the butt, I can do that, I just prefer the wider flared leg Dance Studio Pants. I don't think it's a good idea to replace the DSP with a slimmer leg version, as too many of us prefer them for the wider flared leg style, if they want to give those of you who prefer a slimmer leg style just that, then they should not replace them but offer a slim leg style along with the wider flared style. I don't think it's fair to take one style away that is much loved by many and replace it with another to please the other half, offer both and keep everyone happy. I could also care less about what is dated and what is trendy, I actually not a fan of trendy at all. I wear what I like and if it's considered dated then so be it. I'm not a sheep and will never follow the herd!

LuluAddict, I like the idea of a Stillness/Still pant-type option in the Swift material! I'd definitely be interested in something like that, but only if offered along with the DSPs, not as a replacement! :) I think there's room for the DSP as they are now, a pant like your idea, and a skinny leg version as well for those who prefer it. Why the heck not? I think all these are much better options (and with something to please everyone), than some of that ugly trying to be trendy stuff they put out that ends up going to WMTM. Just don't take one style away and replace it with another!

I'm in the minority as well, but I love my Street to Studio crops. I'm really short (5' tall), and these pants fit me perfectly! I can cuff the ankle for a cute, cropped look, and I love the stretch and the shape! The butt and thighs are roomy without looking sloppy, and I love them as an alternative to skinny jeans or yoga pants!

I'm glad that they aren't discontinuing. I do wish they would take some of the flare out of the bottom though. That would be a good update if they leave everything else about them (fit, cut, fabric) alone. Just not such a huge flare at the bottom (thankfully I found a lulu store that will hem and still keep the cinch so I always cinch them a bit to soften the wideness).

A late comment on this thread and I did read the other post that now LLL states they are not being discontinued. It would not surprise me one way or another. It is their MO to take something away, call it "discontinued" and bring it back in a new incarnation, generally not as good. They search for ways to manufacture the item in a cheaper way. Maybe with the DSP they could sort out the waistband as there are endless complaints about it. I had DS pants but sold them all locally. Like Anon 3:06 I much prefer the tailored, streamlined Quick Step Pant from several years ago and they look brand new. I have black and dark grey and I would always reach for those before DSP. Plus when they cranked up the DSP from $98 to $108 a couple of years ago, I decided I was really done with that pant.
