This is what the side seam normally looks like. The long sleeve version has an open seam down the center of the front and the short sleeve version has an open seam down the center of the back and below the shoulders in the front. I really liked the material in these tops but the open seaming did give me pause. I wasn't worried about a wardrobe failure in public so much - the seams don't seem that frail - but rather the seam starting to unravel after wear and washing. I was also worried that I'd snag the seam on a piece of jewelry or by rubbing up against something and start it unraveling. I don't think that my lululemon store seamstress will be able to repair it since it looks to be a special kind of stitching. The open seaming is a neat design detail but it looked vulnerable to me and it looks like my concerns weren't unfounded. (Thanks to Ms. L. for her photos.)
