New Flow Y compared to an older one. |
The topic of changes in Flow Y fit came up in the comments yesterday. I remembered to bring an older Flow Y - the black one - with me. This bra is pretty old, at least four or five years old. As you can see, the current Flow Y has a lot less coverage in the front. I know the Flow Ys have been this way for a good two years or so. I didn't get a good comparison photo of the back but the back is still the same, it's just the front panel that has changed. I knew the fit was different but I didn't realize so much coverage had been taken out. Lululemon used to make a Flow Y-type bra - I think it was the Flow Y III - that worked well for bustier women with thicker straps. I wish they'd bring something like it back.
Nori/Kale Flow Y III (I think)

I've been complaining about the flow y's for a couple of years now... they've ruined them.
I have 4 and 5 years old ones in size 4 that are bigger in front than 8's are now!
I've completely stopped buying the Flow Y bra because of the changes Lululemon implemented a few years back. I wear a size 4 but if I go up in size to gain coverage the the band is too large and overall loss of support in the cup area. Bring back the Flow Y bra I once loved!
I used to LOVE the Flow Y. Can't wear the new ones. I would love to see them return with more coverage! I don't know why Lulu tends to err on the skimpy side. I do NOT want my cleavage hanging out at the gym!
I only have the newer flow y's but agree the coverage is not adequate. I am also a 4 but feel like I'm showing too much in them. I recently bought a 50 rep bra off of WMTM and I love it! So comfy and just enough support. I'd love a few more.
What a bummer! The Flow Y was already small for me and I started buying this bra style ~5 years ago. I'm a 30/32 D. I have two only, one in Aruba and one in a Paris Pink, Currant Red stripe pattern from 2011. I guess this means no more Flow Ys for me. Thanks for the heads up on this.
I only have the newer flow y and it definitely is skimpy in the front.
The last photo of the thicker strapped flow y is really nice. I can't touch those bras a s they are now. I hate showing cleavage. 34DD here.
