I was just at a store looking for some deals (Canada) - there is nothing really shimmery about those shimmy shimmer prints in person. Definitely was a let down. The scoop top was so small on the hanger I didn't even give it a second glance - looked like children's clothing. Not bad deals - I was at Vaughan Mills - $19 for men's pacebreakers and tanks, got some 105f's for $24, speeds for $19 which are $39 on the site.
@ anon 9:40 am - I totally agree. I saw the shimmer prints this morning and they were very dull in person. Moreover, the Shine Tight material was stiff and harsh. The Flounce Shirt looked like a maternity top on me. The whole Black Friday release is a fail, IMO. However, the new Britt's picks shows we'll be getting some goodies on Sunday night.
Just went to the store, got Rest Less PO in gray & Flouncey tee,. Will marinate on both, waiting for cyber Monday upload
Re the shimmer prints...I too was surprised at the shimmer prints in person today. I guess I was expecting really "shiny". But when I think about it, I think the matte finish is what balances the print, so that it is easier to wear. I realize I'm in the minority...IMHO I thought LLL produced a well merchandised, tight collection of trend and holiday appropriate items. My guess is they didn't buy alot. A bunch will go to WMTM early on. I thought the look book/photo shoot was fun and festive. It's a marketing hook to reel you in to the store to buy other things.Bracing for the backlash...
@ anon 4:27 pm - you could be right that lulu only purchased a small amount of the shimmer stuff. The tag on the Shimmer Shine Tights said Made in Canada, which I tend to think means smaller production run.
Some marketing hook, lol. I guess that's what some people fall for. That stuff (and the &Go etc.) keeps me away from the store and much less interested in LLL altogether. I am very, very selective about what I buy from them now. They get MUCH LESS money from me now than in prior years (and I know that I not alone when it comes to long time customers who feel the same). Talk about successful marketing!
I agree with Anonymous at 4:27 PM. I find the matte "sparkle" prints to be very interesting and trendy. Original! I'm excited to have ordered both prints in the party bomb jacket. Purchased a flower-printed bomber jacket from lulu last spring (had a mesh vent running through the back) and I've been wearing it lots, even to work. I get compliments all the time ; ) it's different from a typical blazer and fits my style :)
I agree with 4:27 and I posted in an earlier post that I thought the glitter campaign was fun and not over done. I have yet to see any of this in person but am hoping to make it to a store today to see if there are any black friday deals left. I also love the & Go line. They are great for casual wear or for work in an office setting.
