Sashico Star Wunder Unders and Sashico Cross Roll Down Wunder Under Crop Comments

I got to try on the Sashico Inkwell/Rugged Blue Star Wunder Under crops (shown on top) and the Sashico Cross Roll Down Wunder Under crops. I didn't realize the difference in these two prints - the photos on the website are too dark (an ever-present problem, photographer/web team!) to tell much detail - but you can see it a little better above. The blotchiness of the blue background color - the cool thing about this color - shows up a lot better in the Cross print/Roll Down Version.

The fabric content of the crops. These are full on luon.

Note the price adjustment sticker and $10 price difference between the Roll Down and Regular crop prices. As point of note, solid black regular waist Wunder Crops are $72. I'm not getting the $20 price difference between the three types of crops - plain black WUCs are $72, print WUCs and black roll down WUCs are $82, and print roll down WUCs are $92. I liked the Sashico cross Roll Down WUCs well enough but for $92 they have to be pretty awesome. I am preferring fullux (full on luxtreme) crops for my workout crops these days (I find the fabric more breathable and opaque than full on luon) so I hope this blotchy cross print is coming in luxtreme.  I could see the white rip out tag and my underwear outline in a deep bend.  However, I think if I had darker underwear on I wouldn't have had an issue.

I just got the Groove WUP in Sachiko print. TTS. Putting them on, they are compressive and so tight, I had the v at the crotch which is a first for me. But the pants loosened up after moving around and sitting for a coupla minutes. (BTW, to avoid camel toe, I wear the Mula Bandha thong which has a thin crotch...underwear with the thick cotton crotch will bunch up creating camel toe ;D) The Groove WUP fabric feels like a thicker luxtreme not cottony luon. I like that alot. I grabbed a brand new white towel and ran it down the legs and all over the butt, and no lint caught on these pants unlike what happens when I wear luon and denim luon WUP. I don't have any pets, but I assume that pet hair won't stick to these pants either. So I started my vinyasa practice to see if these pants will move with me. I dislike luxtreme which falls down at the waist on me and I was worried these might do the same. Nope. These pants stayed up and didn't shimmy down. I did a coupla vinyasas, forward folds, and twists and these pants didn't shift on my body. I did some arm balances like crow and eka pada koundinasana and my arms didn't slide off my legs like they do when I wear luon denim. These pants breathe well. Its 76F and 56% humidity in this house, I was dripping sweat, and I didn't feel like these pants were making me any hotter. OH and I didn't notice any dark crotch sweat marks. The dark blue fabric and patterns hides that, or the fabric is absorbant enough so it doesn't show. Well I pretty much worked these pants during my yoga practice cuz I liked them soo much. If I didn't like them, I would've taken them off at some point. The seams are perfection, no loose strings anywhere. My inner thighs touch and yeah. All my WUPs have pilling and maybe these WUPs will pill too. I don't care. There is freedom in imperfection.

I forgot to mention! The Groove WUP pants are totally opaque when I bend over, down dog, squat, do the splits, and go up into headstand from wide legged pose. I was wearing a black Mula Bandha thong during my vinyasa practice and the room was bright with sunlight at 3p in Silicon Valley, CA.

Frankly, I'm not sure about the blotchiness, makes me feel that they are "shadowing" cellulite areas, or I've sat on chalky surfaces and did a frantic brush off. Maybe I have to see them in real life rather than in photos to truly appreciate the print.

I think they are a lot better in person. The effect is subtle and I don't think shadows cellulite. The pants are very pretty in person.

I think they're an easy pass. The price increases are because they can. They will incrementally get more money out of the mass of customers, even for this not so special stuff. Those that are aware of the price increases and those that are not.

My LLL spending has curbed tremendously over the past couple of years ("meh" offerings and reduced quality). I've even sold some "hot" older items for non-inflated prices. People are delighted to get this stuff but I don't even have any remorse about letting it go. Funny thing is, I'm inadvertently helping LLL get new customers. The purchaser(s) has told me that their friends or relatives are after whatever shorts or tanks I've sold or given away. They have to break it to them that you cannot get the pattern etc. anymore. But of course, the potential new customers pull up the website or go to the store.

I picked up a pair yesterday. I thought the fabric was Luxtreme too before reading the tag. It feels like Luxtreme, which I love. I too was concerned about the shadowing cellulite. I couldn't tell in the fitting room. They get the sunlight test today. They are much prettier in person than in the photos.

@ anon 6:31 pm - Prints have been hot sellers so they are probably thinking they can jack up the price for them. I'm not sure how much extra they cost to make.

Okay, so today I went to Lulu and tried on the Sashico Cross Roll Down WUC, thinking to myself as I was waiting in line for a fitting room, "No way am I paying $92 for WUC, but can't hurt to try them on" Well, I should've known better because that is kinda like going to an animal shelter "just to look".

These crops are awesome. The material does not feel like regular luon; it feels silky yet compressive and not sheer. To me it was worth the extra $ because the fabric is pretty darn dreamy. I got my usual WUC size and I actually also liked the extra length. Even though I am only 5'2", I felt like they hit at a good spot above my ankle, where they are not quite long enough to be pants but a cute longer cropped length. You could totally wear them with short Uggs in the winter and they would double as pants.

Anyway, just my two cents, if anyone was on the fence about these, they are worth trying out before they disappear.

@ anon 8:52 pm - the print and color is super pretty so I can see ponying up the money if you really like them.
