Sea Wheeze Shorts Ordering Process - BLOWS!!! (No Love for the Size 12s)

Ugh! I go to order my Sea Wheeze shorts this morning at 11:15 am - 75 minutes after the TWO WEEK window opens - and the size 12 Tracker II shorts are already gone. Thanks a lot, lululemon. Next time make it so you can order the shorts with the race. So not happy with this.

I'd like to know why, in a pre-order situation, that I cannot get the size I desire in my race shorts. In no other race has this happened to me. They would have had two extra months to make shorts if the initial race registration process had been done correctly.

I cannot help but think this will be a preview of how the expo will be this year - that there will be very limited offerings for size twelves. It seems like lululemon is starting to diss the size twelve again given the fact that quite a few new crop colors (e.g. Camo Wunder Unders), jackets (Lightened Up Pullover to name one), and tanks are not coming in the size. My stores have stopped getting size twelve Groovy Run and Tracker II shorts in and I have to order that size on line now.

What the hell are they doing? If they don't fix this sell-out mess they've gotten themselves into, people, like myself, are going to tell them to shove it! Especially the Seawheeze stuff...that's inexcusable!!!
BTW, could only people registered buy the shorts? Could they only buy one pair? Just wondering if ebayers are doing their usual "buy everything and sell it at a premium".

I am sorry :( That is really unfair.

I couldn't agree more! I ran Seawheeze the 1st year and was absolutely furious that size 12 wasn't even sold at the expo. 12s run halfs too!! I can understand maybe stopping some revealing styles at 10 or lower but lately I've noticed the normal items like the Lightened Up Pullover didn't even come in a 12. 12s are usually highly represented on my store's sale rack though, so I assume they don't sell through as quick as other sizes?

I don't understand why there are limited sizes at all for the Seawheeze participant shorts. Can't they just order quantities based on the number requested during the ordering process? If they have 1000 runners who want size 12 trackers, it seems like they should be able to make 1000 of them, given the fact they have at least a month (and had the ordering happened sooner, 2 months) to produce them.

I won't be there but I feel your pain sister. I'm a 12 in a bunch of things too, especially tops. I barely fit a 12 scuba.

It's totally weird that you don't order your shorts until now. In every race I've done, they ask for your t-shirt size on the application. What gives Lulu?!?!?

I got on at 10:06 and was able to get my Tracker II shorts. I've never tried them before, but unless they fit way differently than speeds, groovy runs, and shake and breaks I should be okay! I'm just bummed we didn't get to see the colors/print.

@ anon 11:47 am - You can only get one pair of shorts with registration so that wasn't the problem. The problem is they guessed wrong on the number of people requiring size 12 shorts. Size 12 Trackers would not be big ebay items. The most popular size is size 6.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 12:07 pm - I haven't really noticed that many more size 12s on the sale rack compared to other sizes in my stores. I think it is dependent on the local population.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 12:20 pm - They did ask for the shorts size in the first two Sea Wheeze races but this year they de-coupled the ordering process for some reason.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 12:07 pm - Yes, the first Sea Wheeze was pretty discriminatory towards the 12s and they fixed that in the second one. Like you said, I understand not offering more revealing sizes/colors in the 12 but not sure why quite a few of the newest jackets are stopping at size 10 lately.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 11:48 am - I could totally understand the 12s being gone after a few days of the ordering window opening but 75 minutes in? That's bullshit.

Does anyone have the link to the order site? I have a code via the phone but still no email!

OT
In the flow dress now available in all sizes on the US what's new.
Completely sold out on Canadian side.

With their inability to deal with registration and now this, I do not have high hopes for organization at the race. At all. I had a lot of fun last year, but I'm already pretty disappointed in them. I have a feeling this will be my last time running SeaWheeze.

Obviously, Lulu does not make enough size 12, so I'd conclude that Lulu does not care about size 12 customers?

it has always been first-come, first-served. last year, sizes 6 and 8 speeds ran out before registration spots did. this is because it takes months (6-7 at the minimum, 12-18 typically) to produce product like this.

I share your pain. I am a size 12 and I get so happy when I see a crop, for example the cotton roll-downs, come in a size 12.

You say they sold out but do you know if they were ever available in a sz 12 to begin with? A lot of times when they do uploads it looks like 12 sells out instantly but the fact is that they didn't even make them in a 12 at all!

I was surprised when I was searching this blog in 2009 and I saw they used to make size 14! Wow - who knew???

OT... But the in the flow dress was secretly added to the us website this afternoon in 2 colors!

The first year SeaWheeze was very discriminatory with men as well. Zero items in xxl. My husband ran the race and was really disappointed. He's not a big guy, either...just very tall and men's lulu seems to run fairly small. We didn't buy even one men's item. Not sure what Lulu's thought (or lack thereof) process is sometimes.

I am so glad you did a blog post on this. I have been really disappointed in the size 12 offerings lately. It seems like all of the newest prints and colors only go to a size 10. I think you should gather all of these responses and send them in. Something needs to change!

Bull. I was so happy this year because pacesetter skirts now come in a 12 tall. Everything should come in a 12! I am over 6 feet tall, and run marathons and have completed ironman, but I still can't fit into size 10 2way stretch shorts, I just really need the 12. Every thing they make should be available in 12!

Very frustrating and insulting regarding the size 12 issue...most new styles of bottoms or new colors are not made in size 12 lately..I am over 5"8 and don't like too fitted or sheer..but I feel like I have to justify my wearing such a size even though I am in very good shape.

Has anyone seen their bullshit explanation on YouTube as to why there are few larger sizes. The girl in the video is a size twelve and she's trying to come off sincere and like she knows how difficult it is to find things that don't fit her size. It's so insincere that's it's uncomfortable to watch. Ugh. Lulu honestly makes me sick sometimes.

Not my size but that is SH*TTY.

Anonymous said...

OT but the In the Flow dress was uploaded to the us side today

So, are they going to refund you $54 for the shorts that were part of your registration fee that now you can't use? That is unacceptable. I have never heard of a race cutting their promo items before registration and before knowing what sizes they will need. I hope you complain and they re-cut the sizes people paid for!

And you are surprised by all of this???? lol.... A company where their almighty creator Chip Wilson was seen laughing at women and making rude comments about rubbing thighs? A company that has the time to create ridiculous, inappropriate, phrases on it's shopper bags, but can't even invest in fixing it's crashing site when ordering online. LOL I go online every day and read the awful frustrations of it's customers and the sad awful truth of how poorly people are treated every day. anything and everything, seems to go at Lululemon! bottom line is that we keep buying and lulu keeps getting richer! Lulu doesn't care about pleasing anyone-don't fool yourself. And please...don't be surprised about there not being any size 12's! There's no size 14, 16, 18 or 0 either! lol... Let's not forget, that's just how Lulu does things. We should never be surprised!!

That's really inexcusable, I would be livid if I trained all year for a half marathon and they couldn't even provide my size shorts!

I have noticed they are dropping the size 12s lately too. Travelled 5 hours to my closest store last weekend (not just to visit Lulu, lol), and couldn't find anything that I wanted in a size 12. Asked about the cadet/cashew/black wee strip WUP, and was told they got only 1 size 12 pant in that color at that location, and naturally it went fast (I asked if they fit TTS or were possibly a size down item, because there was a 10 left, and the snotty ed totally gave me the head-to-toe once over as if to say that I shouldn't be wearing them anyway).

I was also really disappointed that the new cadet grooves uploaded Monday night were not available in size 12 either.

I can only assume that Lulu hopes to solve all their quality control issues by eliminating the size 12 product lines, because after all, our thighs are bigger and do tend to rub together...

@ lulu educator - I called the GEC and left a comment on the Sea Wheeze FB page but I'll make sure to leave a comment on the SW website, too.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 1:18 pm - I didn't know that about the size 6/8 speeds. I understand things running out - and I'd expect lululemon to be a lot better about estimated necessary size runs the third year in - but to run out 75 minutes into a 2 week window seems like they insanely underestimated the size 12s.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 3:31 pm - I was surprised the Cadet Grooves did not come in a 12, too. It's at the point that I'll order the 12 if I think I want to try it on because I'm going to assume my store is not going to get it or only get a couple.

You think they would of asked us at the beginning... back in January.. what size?

oh we need 2440 size 8.. ok lets make 2500 size 8

this just lacks brains...

I agree that size 12 should be available and can understand your frustration. Many of the new crops have not been available in my size 2. Lulu is squeezing us out on both ends of the size chart : {

Anonymous said...

That is so disappointing. I'm sorry, LLA:(.

I received the email at 8am telling me that the ordering started at 10am. Luckily I was able to get the size I wanted but still because I happened to see my email before then...I could have easily missed it. Why do we only get 2 hours notice?

It looks like the In The Flow dress does not come in a size 12, unless it sold out already. So unfair!!! It is very frustrating that certain items only go up to a 10. :(.
I am sorry about the shorts. I too would be furious.

Anonymous said...

I completely agree and understand! But it's not only size 12. Size 2 has been cut out of the equation quite often these days. I was not able to get pair of special edition wup or wuc this season because they never make a size 2. And when I asked my local store why she said because mostly preteens wear a 2 and tbats not their focus. Really wow I'm a 30 year old mother that basically only wears lulu but I'm the size of a preteen so I'm being phased out. Not happy.

Stinks but if it makes you feel any better, you'll be able to buy in Australia or at warehouse sale a few months later. I'm not as excited this year about the so-called exclusive shorts after the seeing them all over the place. Will also be very very choosy at the expo this year.
