Nice color, and the waistband seems to have a new pattern that is not flowers.

I have a pair of Surge speed shorts from 2011 that look very similar.

How different is Blue Tropics from Surge?

err, not for me

Why do they look so big? Sigh. At least I have a ton of older speeds...

Ooooh, love that colour.

@ anon 11:03 am - You guys are so funny. I saw a similar comment on another board. I don't think you can judge size/fit/cut until you see the same shorts on a few people. Maybe this woman loves her speeds huge. Maybe she is 90 lb and 4' 9". I know some recent Speeds seem to have been cut a big larger than older ones but I think we need more data before we can nail down if this pair is one of them.

For once a pair of speed shorts that do not excite me. First world problems indeed - I have too many but use them all (hard ore runner here).

Speed shorts haven't changed that dramatically in the past couple of years. Though newer ones are slightly longer but still retain the speed short element. Sizing can differ between 2 way vs 4 way stretch.

Agree you can't know what size she's sporting. Better they be looser than too tight and too short like the pics from not too long ago of the gal on the beach.

Looks a lot like Surge to me. I don't think the fit is bad in that photo. Not everyone wants their nylon running shorts to fit like a second skin.

These remind me of some speeds from 2011. I think they were static grey and beachy green.

It looks a lot like Surge to me, too.

The fit on her is horrid. If you want loser longer fits, there are other styles

Even when you look at the website and compare the original pics of the plain black speeds compared to the newer black quilted spring ones there's clearly a difference in cut. I agree if looser, roomier shorts are what you're after there's other styles. Speeds are a favorite that I wish they wouldn't mess with :(

Omgosh, the fit is not "horrid." I'm sure she rocks this outfit. I dare say that if I saw her in person the last thing I'd be thinking would be negative. From what can be seen in the image, that's a pretty trim torso and fit legs.

...or you could just wear your shorts the way you want to.

I've read that some of the newest Speeds are running longer and it seems like the fit has changed. Definitely give lululemon this feedback. It really sucks when they change the fit on beloved core items. Feedback got the Inspire waistband changed back, Scubas changed back, Power Y and Scoop Neck tanks changed back to full weight luon from the light luon.

I love the longer speed shorts! Though I have about 15 pairs of the older versions, I have purchased two of the newer ones. I love them just as much as the older ones.

I dont have any of the newer speeds, but the fit has always been extremely inconsistent, and not just the difference between 2 & 4 way stretch. I have had probably 20 different pairs & sold all but 5 because I didn't like the fit enough to reach for them. It's annoying because when they fit well, they are the best shorts out there. I also find it funny how polarizing them are. I think they look HORRIBLE when they are too tight, but obviously some people feel the exact opposite. It's impossible to tell fit from the pic posted above, but from what I can see, they fit fine.

I think the color of the speeds is more aqua than surge. I also don't see a problem with the fit, it's better than super tight around the thighs. I have of 20 pairs of the speed shorts so I am not purchasing anymore.

They look identical to my oasis speeds! They have the same black lining but a static grey waistband. It is annoying how inconsistent the fit of speeds is... I too sold all but 4 or 5 that fit me really well. I personally think they look better if they are a little bigger rather than smaller (I know a lot of people are in between sizes in speeds).

Thanks Lululemon Addict, it would be great if we could get the speeds changed back to their original fit. Ever since they changed the fit, I haven't bought a single pair! I used to automatically buy the new color/pattern that came out weekly! Needless to say, I have a stock pile of speeds which I guess is good now since the cut is different but I will eventually need to replace them when they wear out. Speeds were always my favorite shorts and I am not a fan of shorts in general but speeds covered all the right places while being loose on my hips and best of all they caused no chaffing in between my thighs. With the new longer fit I find that (When I have tried them on in stores) the fabric rubs oddly between my thighs ...like excess fabric or something... which I believe is what people are getting at when they say the new speeds to "too long" it's more of a functional aspect rather than people wanting "shorter shorts". Some how when LLL made speeds longer, it reduced the functionality and performance of the shorts by causing chafing and other issues...regardless of what LLL actually did to change the speeds I have no idea but it's definitely different and not working for their core speeds fans! Would LOVE the old speed fit back!
