So, is the not so petite fleur cadet bluish or is that black in the background?

LuluAddict said...

If you zoom in on the photos of the Not So Petite Fleur Rise and Shine Jacket on the LLL website the dark spots in the print look like black.

The Cozy Crop top and Yoga skirt look like something I can find at American Apparel for a 1/3-1/2 of the lulu price. Also, I read a fit review that said the white portions were slightly see-through. No thank you on both counts.

Anonymous said...

The yoga skirt is actually of pretty nice quality, I saw it yesterday at the Union Square NYC lulu. The white part on the skirt has really thin stripes, the material is the thicker luxtreme.
American Apparel uses cotton in most of their clothing and their stuff falls apart with only a few wears.

I have not been able to decide if I like the new floral print or now. :/

Looking forward to some smaller items (...ahem...speed shorts) in the new beachscape print.

Can't understand why anyone would want to look like they are wearing hubbies boxers under their leggings...or am I the only one seeing that with the 'live natural' pants. Do like the skirt depending on the fabric which will hopefully keep it's shape better than cheaper alternatives, would prefer another colour though, I don't wear black and not sure on the stripes.

Sorry a bit OT, but If it is any consolation to those who missed out, just tried the rise and shine jacket in 2 sizes. Fail as a run jacket in my opinion. It is another example of the recent trend of loose (non-tapered) body and tight at the hip. Unflattering on anyone with curves, and most importantly who wants a run jacket that is tight at the hip where you have the most movement? I for one also want my run jacket to cover the bottom when it is raining, and thus the photos of it cinched above the hip make no sense to me. Another deal breaker, this is advertised as a rain jacket. Rainy conditions typically mean poor visibility, yet not a snippet of reflectivity in this jacket.

YAY totally OT but my black camo fly away tamer just arrived and I'm obsessed...can't wait to see more in this color combo!

Anonymous said...

Anon at 10:17 AM, thanks so much for the fit review! I don't understand the hype associated with the Rise & Shine jacket. It's very Duck Dynasty "let's go huntin'" IMO. Combined with the unflattering fit and lack of reflective details makes it a definite no-go for me.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for the feedback - I can see why this would not fit/flatter many women's shapes, but since I am relatively straight with much broader shoulders than hips and short torso, thinking maybe I should try this on! Though you make good pointon the lack of reflectivity.

Anonymous said...

Yeah great, just what everyone wants to see my middle aged, peri-menopausal muffin top bulging out like a sausage squeezing out from under a crop top!

W said...

Love the new fleur print!! Super pretty, just hope it's not sheer and quality holds up.

I don't really understand the yoga skirt. What is the benefit of having a skirt in Luon? I'm not trying to be snarky - I'm a lulu lover but I just don't get it. Would you wear it post yoga or just out?

Thanks for the update 10:24! The black camo is soo hard to see on the website so I'm happy to hear good things!

I had the opportunity today to try on the Not so petite fleur WUC in my local store (briar hill). They had one (!) in size 6. Well...the material is great, totally opaque and the camo print does a great job camouflageing any little bump. But I felt funny with my legs encased in that print. I'm very much a conservative dark colour crop kind of gal. Furthermore, the crops felt a bit warm for strenuous exercising. I would love to own this print in a top though.
That yoga skirt- I know the last iteration of it sold out fast, but the shape, the material, the length and the awful thick stripes are all screaming "No" at me. Such a pedestrian and impractical piece.

Anonymous said...

thanks for the laugh anon@12:03 - you made my day :)))

Anonymous said...

I am not a fan of that yoga skirt. I know the last one sat on the shelves here and ended up going down to around $40. I'm sure it will be the same this time around.

I am loving the mula wrap for $59 though! Bought fatigue and the light grey - so cute open or half zipped and cozy too. Beenm finding some good deals lately - also scored a colab varsity tank for $34!

Saw the camo Rise and Shine jacket on two educators at the store today (and I also saw the Spring Fling camo vest on another). They look AMAZING.

They're all mid 20s and size 4/6s, so anything would probably look great on them, but it really made me love both items and the savasana camo.

Anonymous said...

Picked up the live natural crops in Ombre yesterday. Love them! They are tts and opaque, soft and soooo comfy. I love the rushing in the back. I saw the Yoga over skirt and it looked very polyester-y and shiny. It was an easy pass. I don't love camo and not loving the petite fleur either.

Anonymous said...

OT but i just sent back a camo spring fligh vest sz 6 and 1/8 cadet blue cut the crop sz 6. Keep your eyes out for these on the Canada site. I had a prepaid label because the free to be in bali breeze fit way smaller than normal.

Anonymous said...

I am so bummed to have missed out on the camo rise and shine jacket! Called my local store the other day because I received an email showing new product and it was on there, but they were already sold out. :( I would love to find it in a 6......I remember reading somewhere on here that the GEC said they pulled it off upload night. I wonder if that's true or not and if it will be uploaded again??

LuluAddict said...

lol 12:03. I tried the crop top on today. I really liked the fit and would have bought it if it were a full length shirt. I've really come to like brushed luxtreme tops for the warmth - they cut the wind nicely.

3crazykids said...

I don't have bangs, the bangbuster looks gigantic to me and I don't like wearing things in my hair but that bangbuster?? Beautiful enough for me to consider integrating headbands into my wardrobe somehow.

Stephanie said...

Agreed. Too bad they have to be hand-picked!! Those of us without a local store are out of luck :(

Anonymous said...

I like the beachscape bangbuster as shown, too bad bangbusters don't work on for my long, fine hair.

10:02 AM, I am with you, I don't get the Live Natural and looks like men's underwear waistband. Total ick.

10:55 AM, I am also with you. Don't get the appeal of the camo jacket either. It's the trend now, this Duck Dynasty thing. This too shall pass.

I'm kinda happy I'm not into anything lately. I definitely don't lack for LLL clothes.

tamosaur said...

They told me yesterday that there will not be another upload :/.. I don't know who to trust regarding that information though.

tamosaur said...

Which store were you at? Were there any more in stock?

Can someone please explain the fascination with this camo rise and shine jacket? I'm just not sure why it is so extremely slaughtered after.

Oops I meant "ruching" not rushing.... darn iphone auto-correct!

I MUST have that Bali Breeze Vinyasa!!! Gorgeous!!!

Anonymous said...

The Petite Fleur reminds me of a popular kitchen granite color. I would wear it in very small doses like a head band.

Anonymous said...

anon 12:13 u r so funny ;), makes me laugh, sorry but even for a trim midrif wearing such a garment looks tacky imo that is in the gym like your saying hey look how hot i am everyone now kiss my hiney you fatties! Outside summertime hot weather etc. i can see it but what ever i don't judge but thats what most people are thinking to themselves. And to the ladies well over 40 who may or may not have rolls .... Yet because we all will eventually and if not rolls wrinkled this skin for sure :( anyhow crop top could be put over a tank top for shoulder coverage?

OT fit report.

The little redneck in me is just wild about camo so I ordered the flow y and the bangbuster. They arrived today and, wow, I am not happy at all. When I first toched the bangbuster I thought, whoa, I thought these were luon?? It feels like that scratchy power mesh they ysed to use to line bras. But, on the headband (luon light, supposedly) I can deal wih it.

The bra is the second item out of hundreds of Lulu items I've owned that I actually hate. I have a size 6 flow Y from before the sizing change that is great. I got the camo in a size 8 and it is freaking awful. It squashes my breasts into the shape of a spare tire around my chest. I hate it!!!

Anonymous said...

Hey LLA! When do they usually do their new product uploads? I am trying to snag a pair of those WUs!!!!! I missed out on the stripe ones last time :(

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 7:32 pm - upload nights are Monday nights, typically around 9:45 pm pacific time

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 5:35 pm - I can't tell you. Green camo is very 'Walmart' to me but camo is a fashion trend lately.

I've always liked camo BC my SO is in the military and he thinks it's a cute way to remember him when he's deployed. I also like the material and think it looks cute :)

Blah! They need uploads 3 x a week please! Oh wait no because then I would go broke ;)

For me, part of my fascination with lulu's camo print is this...

I think lulu did a great job of translating a typically masculine camo print into a slightly more subtle, more feminine camo print. They used the camo print fabrics in more feminine styles. I love the photo of the girl in the camo jacket wearing the Hotty Hot Skirt in black.

I don't own any other brand's camo anything. I got the Rise & Shine Jacket, WU pants, Speed short, Rucksack

LuluAddict said...

I saw an ed in the camo Rise and Shine jacket today and it was very cute and tempting. And I love the juxtaposition of pink with green camo - the "bootcamp" look. Personally I like other versions of camo like the black a bit better than the green. That being said, I might get an Energy bra if it came in the green camo and I think the green camo speed shorts are super cute.

Anonymous said...

Aw, Tamosaur@8:08, that's a great reason to like camo! Thank you and your SO for his sacrifice and service! My hubby and I so appreciate it!

Lol, anon@6:11! The word "hiney" always makes me laugh, anyways, and that was just funny! : )

@12:41 yeah it's totally cute and on trend. If I can figure out how to attach a pic from my iPhone I will.

I got the camo mod moves down under yesterday. They are pretty cool. I wanted a pair of mod moves to run mountain marathons in and I have enough block colours so was looking for something with a point of difference. These are perfect. Paired with black, white, pink, lighter blues it looks feminine, but cool. This will be the only camo I'll purchase unless the wandering yogini backpacks turn up here. Lotsa storage for gels, phone, tissues etc while on the move. Not too much camel toe, silky to the touch.
The beach scape bangbuster is a beauty too. And the best bit is every one is totally different because of the way the print falls. I picked one with alot of aqua fading into pink/orange. Looked amazing today with guava speeds and bali green CRB. Lotsa comments when I taught. Hear the energy bra will have the band adjusted back to its original form. Great news. I've gone back to my free to be's alot over our summer because they are more comfortable.

Anonymous said...

Yeah I got one in the fall bc I liked the pattern and good reviews but I never wear it bc it is huge and I feel ridiculous wearing it.

W said...

@509 Stephanie
Yes! Some of the reviews of the beachscape tame headband included pics and they looked nothing like these or the ones on the site. Definitely need to handpick or take a gamble that they will pick a good one for you.

Hi everyone!

OT, but I'm wondering if you guys have your husband, boyfriend, or friends come to your longer races? I've raced a bunch of short races and had people come, but is it too much to ask for them to stand around for hours while you run a half or marathon? Is there stuff at the start/finish line that's entertaining during the race?? Is everyone bored until people start crossing the finish?!

Thanks so much!

BK: I will look for the forthright 1/2 zip in bali green and let you know. If you see this post, email me (sarah) at brevoir13@gmail.com so I can let you know if I find it :)

Love the fabric in the live natural pants and crops. Fingers crossed the crops come in other colors (that don't sell out in 5 minutes). Not sure I like the waist in the pants….

FYI-every morning at 9 a.m. for the past three mornings there have been camo speed uploads. I bought a pair wednesday, my friend a pair yesterday and they're there now.

LuluAddict said...

@anon 8:10 am - 9 am which time zone? east coast?

LuluAddict said...

I've had my family at a couple of races but mostly my husband is either racing himself or doesn't come. It doesn't bug me. In fact, in one 10K he was yelling at me to sprint at the end and I was tired and had low blood sugar so was kind of annoyed. :P

I always run alone and get into my self-hypnotic 'zone' so it doesn't bother me they aren't there. Though, my husband volunteers for our local Disneyland races and he handed me my medal at my last half (the TinkerBell) this past January so that was really neat. I signed up for the Disneyland Half in August, which I wasn't going to do since Sea Wheeze is the week before, just so he could hand me my medal again. Though, he is kind of sly - he said he kind of liked having strange women hugging him when he gave them their medals. ;-)

Anon@5:00 a.m., my hubby has come to spectate some of my bigger races. He's a runner too, though, so that helps make it more interesting for him. I've done the same for him as well. One of my favorite times was NYC Marathon. I qualified and got in (you can qualify with a half as well as a full, so much easier to do it with the half because the full marathon qualification times are faster than Boston!), and he didn't.

We took a red eye to NYC on a Thursday. The race was Sunday, and then we stayed til the following Saturday and did the whole NYC touristy thing. It's always fun to do a destination marathon like that (we did it with Chicago, Boston and Marine Corps Marathons). That way, if one of you aren't running, you both get a cool little vaca out if it. We also bought CityPasses for Chicago and NYC online at Costco ahead of our trip. (Not sure if they still sell those, but you can also pay a little more and buy them at your destination city--they save you a ton of money on some if the big tourist attractions).

At local races where one of us ran and the other didn't, depending on the course, there can be multiple places to cheer on your runners. At smaller races, it's often easier to get around to spectate than at the larger, more crowded ones. We bring a bigass real cowbell we bought at a grange store, a sign for our runner, carry extra Gu and hydration if they need it, etc. A lot of people who spectate are spouses/SO's who know the drill and are always friendly and fun to pass time with.

It's definitely more fun for a spectator to have some friends along. It makes it easier too--one person rings the bell, another holds the sign while the SO clicks the pics or hands out the Gu's, electrolyte pills, etc. Warn them ahead if time that you might get crabby later in the race, and if you lash out at them, for say not unscrewing the water bottle lid, it's not their fault! I personally enjoy spectating, and it really is such a boost in those later miles when you are the runner, and getting tired to know you will see your loved ones. There are always awesome signs out there, one of the best ones I saw: "This is lasting longer than Kim Kardashian's marriage" at Houston Marathon 2012 and "You look like you have some stamina, call me!"

If your boyfriend/hubby isn't a runner, you can go support something he does. I have a friend who's hubby is really into basketball. Every year, she drives to Spokane fom Seattle with him for "Hoop Fest" because he comes to a lot of her half marathon races.

Depending on where your race is, there is usually a Starbucks nearby that your support buddies can refuel and recaffeinate at. Depending on who is on your support team, everyone can have a really fun time. One of my favorite times supporting hubby was Seattle Marathon 2011. It was pouring rain, cold and windy but because I was with awesome friends, we had a blast cheering hubby and our other friend on. One of the guys on our spectating team wore this ginormous sombrero which made all the runners lol. (It was just like those ones at cheesey Mexican restaurants that they make you wear when it's your birthday). It was also like an umbrella and often blowing off his head. Just be sure whoever comes to watch knows the worst case scenario time estimate and is appropriately dressed. A backpack full of snacks is helpful too! Try to make a plan beforehand, look at the course map ahead of time (a lot of races have tips/maps for spectating and how to get around as there are usually road closures).

Hubby and I have also spectated on bikes, rode around the course and gone from point to point. I hope you can figure out a good plan for you that will result in everyone having fun. Be sure to write each person on your Spectator team a thank you note afterwards!

Anonymous said...

LLA, I love that! Your hubby sounds like a keeper! Thanks for sharing! I know I got frustrated with my hubby once. He needed to run a 3:30 to qualify for Boston, and he ran 3:31 and change. I was yelling at him to kick it in at the end, and so irritated he couldn't do it! (He had been trying to BQ for several years, and he kept missing it!). I was more disappointed than he was. He kept saying "I'm just happy I ran a PR!"

He finally did get it--ran a 3:29:52--made it in by 8 seconds, and we ran it last year. It was a good thing because we were both done and able to find each other in the finisher's chute right before the bombs went off.

my husband has been at all of my halfs, but he normally comes closer to the end. he does not get there when I do.

Camo has been a trend off/on for years--it has nothing to do with Duck Dynasty. I have a J.Crew camo mini skirt and pants from years ago. and I have Lucky camo jeans from last fall. I love camo when done in a cute way.

Bethesda, MD had a LOT more options than any of the DC stores...and I was at Georgetown two nights ago!

I got a beachscape bangbuster, fatigue Studio Pants, fatigue Fo Drizzle, Vintage Pink In the Flow (on MD!), Flare/Plaid Tracker Shorts (on MD!).

I did notice that the beachscape bangbusters have a ton of variation. With some of the prints, you see little difference....but none of these headbands looked the same. Some looked heathered, others looked ombre. Some more pink/cadet, others more flare/cadet. Definitely try to cherry pick these in the store. If you do order online, just realize it may be completely different than the photo!

I liked the camo print on the power Y bra, but I can't wear those bras.

If like LLA said the energy bra came in that pattern I would get one.
I can't pull off the bang buster in the camo. I think I would look too much like I was in some girl gang, which is not a look I am into.

@5AM - My boyfriend comes with me when I do a half marathon once a year. He waits around with me until the gun goes off then wanders around for about an hour and gets breakfast then heads down to the finish line as the first people start to come through. I finish about 30 minutes later. This is a big race so things like walking around and getting a good spot at the finish line take a long time so it is pretty easy to fill in the time. My boyfriend is not a runner but he seems to enjoy coming.

Just back from lulu. My store stinks. They have received nothing new other than the long skirts and the bang busters in beachscape and camo. None of the wunder unders have arrived at all and none of the jackets. I have money to spend and nothing is there to buy.

Anonymous said...

Was just at my store. I love the Fo Shizzle rain coat. I found that sizing down to a 2 was the perfect size. It is so cute and flattering for me, and it's not too long anywhere for my short self. That being said, I just couldn't pull the trigger of $198 plus our almost 10% sales tax for another black rain jacket that I don't really need. Maybe if it would have been a little cheaper so that the total price would have been $200 or less with tax or if there had been another color available, I would have done it.

I did buy a Forthright 1/2 zip top in bali breeze stripe. I know I made fun of the elastic waistband earlier, but I decided to try it on. I was absolutely shocked that it fit me so well! The size 4 is plenty roomy to layer things under if I wanted to, and it's one of the few Lulu tops I own that really isn't too long. Even the elastic didn't look as matronly Sansabelt that I thought it did when it first uploaded. It is the softest rulu I've ever owned!

I thought, ok, maybe I misjudged that other ls rulu top--that odd one without the collar. I tried that on too, and uh no. I didn't. It was just as bad on as it was on the hanger.

The new bali breeze stripe Pacesetter skirt was very cute too. The fabric was the stretchiest 4 way I've ever felt Lulu has made! I was so tempted to buy it, but I had swore to myself that I would not buy another Pacesetter skirt because I already have a bunch, and I don't want all my skirts to look the same. That's why I'm hoping Lulu comes out with some new styles really soon!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, what you can't see on that skirt which you can when you see it live is that the "white" stripes of the black and white stripe are actually hyperstriped with light grey.

Jen said...

Anon 5:00 - DH will typically come to my marathons, usually because he's also running in them. For 2013 Boston, he came and went around the course with my dad. For the two of them, it was their own "race" to see me more than once on the course. For 2013 CIM, I was specifically aiming for a sub 3:30 and asked him not to come so I wouldn't be distracted. It worked. :) There is plenty for family to do during the race: sleep in, cheer on random strangers, take in the atmosphere, plot how many places they can pop up on course, etc to make it fun for them.

Re: camo - I'm just not a fan of anything camo, so more for everyone who is! :)

The NSPF print is growing me though.

Our closest showroom has the Bali breeze CRB in stock!

Happy Friday all!

Just got back from my store.

The only camo item in the whole store was a headband. I can't believe everything else sold out in less than a day.

I asked about the live simply ombre crops and the educator said they sold out in minutes. I was able to pick them up in a solid grey color. They are super cute!! The cotton is so thick. Love them!

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 4:20 pm - I tried them on yesterday and found they were sheer on me, too. Granted it was my size down but I think they still would have been on the sheer size in my regular size.

Anonymous said...

Wow, Jen@1:18 p.m., did you make your sub-3:30 goal at CIM? The weather there can be dicey! I don't remember what it was like last year, but 2012 was horrid and super windy and they've had monsoons every now and then. It's a flat course, but I think it's harder to run the same thing for 26.2 miles without any elevation changes because your legs never get to do anything different!

Anonymous said...

Feb 21 5:00: you must be a newbie! You need the hubby/bf at the longer runs assuming he's not a runner himself. For the short runs, might be fun but for me it would just be a distraction. For long runs he will/should be support.

We joke about who will quit competition sooner and will be the one to drink coffee and hold the leash while the other races.
