Are those RFYL crops in the photo with the brisk bloom tame me tank?
Popped into my store today to pick up some crops I had hemmed and was chatting to the eds about the ps WUCs, which they only had 1-2 pairs left. Luckily I got mine online and didn't have to stalk this week. They said most people were actually sizing up! I stuck with my tts, but I feel like the hype of the luluaddicts out there is making everyone think they need to size down. I did a comparison of my ziggy wee plum WUCs to the ps WUCs and they are almost identical in a size 4. Maybe the legs fit better sized down, but I feel like people must be getting muffin tops sizing down though! It's just funny how sizing up/down is so swayed by people's opinions!
I'd like to read some opinions on parallel stripe WUC vs the parallel stripe Runday crops? I have the WUC and love them (tags are still on), but I have a chance to get a pair of Runday from a friend in the US. I haven't seen them in stores yet. I'm trying to decide if I should just stick with the WUC, or have the runday sent. The possible outcome is loving both (but can't justify owning both), loving the runday (take back the WUC), or loving the WUC more (possible problem taking back the runday - no receipt for local stores). My function for the crops is yoga, casual wear, and brisk walking. I realize runday are for running, but my interest in them is whether they may be more (or less) flattering on than the WUC - due to seaming, luxtreme, ankle cuffs and waistband detail. Any advice? Thanks :)
Re: Parallel Stripe WUs and sizing down: I received a size 2 and 4 in the crops today and was able to do a proper fit comparison. I generally wear a size 4 for bottoms, sometimes sizing up and very rarely sizing down depending on the style. I found the size 2 flattered my shape (especially my bum!) much more than the 4. The fit was also more compressive without giving me MT or CT. For me the tip to size down I read on LLA really helped. Hope this helps!
J in TO,I found the WU to be softer and overall more flattering (for me). I am short, 5'2" so the continuous pattern was better for my body. The fabric in the WU, in my opinion is more forgiving. I bought both but will be returning the Runday. I will use the WU for Pilates, weight-training, cardio (in the gym) and probably just walks in my neighborhood. Hope this helps. :)
@6:44PMI have both the runday and the WUC in the parallel stripe. Sickness drove me to get the WUP too.The Runday is great. Higher waist, super comfy, soft luxtreme. I really like it. I'm a sporadic runner, but bought these just to wear running around town or walking the dog. The WUP and WUC are just a different pant/crop altogether. I love those just as much as the rundays. It's a more casual/less "active" look. They would be more versatile imho.Once you try them both on, you'll know.
@J in TOAbout a week or two ago I tried on the Runday crops in parallel stripe. I do a good amount of running so I was hoping these would be fun new running crops for me. I was highly disappointed. I actually felt the lines mixed with the stripes made me look bigger. Overall, I think the combo of the lines, stripes, and black cuffs was just too much. When the PS WUC were uploaded I definitely was not interested because of my experience with the Runday crops, however I tried them on in store today.( The Nanuet, NY store had plenty PS WUC in stock). I loved them! Definitely less busy looking than the Runday crops. I plan on wearing them for casual wear, walking, and an occasional Spin class. I tried on both 8 and 6 and felt comfortable in both. I took the 6 though because I just had a baby a few months ago and have a few more pounds to shed. I say go for the WUC.
Agreed! I felt more compressed in a 2 rather than my tts 4 but way more comfortable in a 4. If anything they are like a 1/2 size down:) Also in the 2 the coverage was less than stellar. I think a lot of people will be showing more than they think they are!
To the first persons query above. Yes they are RFYL crops and they are in the new macro/micro stripe. Beautiful to wear, soft, compressive and buttery:)That photo was taken in Sumner, Christchurch in New Zealand.
@anon 6:09pm - you are right the PS WUC is the exact same size as my quiet stripe - what's different is the fabric weave is not as tight (this means the butt area and thigh area will not be held as snug and over time that will only get worse) so the overall fit is very loose - i'm working at a store for the holiday season and we have had no one size up in these crops - so that's surprising to hear, if you have an older pr of crops and put them on - then try on your PS i think you will feel a significant difference, but the great thing is everyone is entitled to their own preference in terms of fit and size.
JinTO,I wouldn't get the run day crop for yoga because of the zipper on the back of the waistband. It is very uncomfortable for anything lying on your back.
@ J In TO 6:44 PM, I guess your friend must be giving you a great deal? You could just order them on-line, they're on the Canadian website. These are 2 totally different items. For me the high waist (says 'medium' rise, I disagree) on the Runday is a deal breaker. I'd never wear them.
Curious whether others are getting the same reaction from guys on the PS WUs. The male ed who rang me up when I got my PS WUPs was nearly salivating when talking about how awesome they make all women's butts look. And when I tried mine on for my husband, he couldn't keep his hands off me! Haven't tried the PS Rundays but the WUs are insanely flattering & sexy!
I ordered the coco pique wunder unders first thing Tuesday morning. They arrived yesterday DEFECTIVE! And now they are sold out in my size! There is a giant spot on the side of the left leg where the material is completely frayed and completely black with no coco pique print. I called GEC right away and was assured that they would "make it right". Well, their idea of making it right was to allow me to return them by mail or to my local store which is 45 minutes away. Umm, I could've returned them anyway, for any reason! How is this making it right? Now I have to go out of my way to return a pair of pants that I really wanted! So bummed and angry that they would send me a pair of pants in this condition!
@anon 6:09pmI agree with you. I am a consistent size 4. I've never had to size up or down. Although the legs may fit better in a sz 2, a sz 2 in the ps WUC would give me muffin top. I stayed tts in the p WUC.
I had a $300 coat from Lulu w a defective zipper & lulu offered me to just send it back! Brand new coat w a zipper that didn't work. Coat sold out! In the end....I could either return the coat via mail or get a $20 gift card. lol... lulu is a lame company, offering a $20 GC on an expensive $300 coat w a broken zipper.
Anon at 7:03 ..... My brisk bloom WUP was delivered with a huge hole in the left leg.... Not even at a seam where it would be fixable. Same 'solution' from CS... Laughable.... It makes me mad that when they screw up they won't/ can't do a store search and find you the product!!
@ anonymous 7:03 am. I have BNWT coco pique wup in size 8, I can angel them to you if that's your size! Fingers crossed for you. Email me at jennifer.m.oke @ gmail.com
Thanks Jen, but I am a size 6. I appreciate the offer though!
@LLA just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your hard work on this blog! I check it usually multiple times a day, and value all of your opinions. It has made me a much more knowledgable consumer, and has saved me many headaches when puzzling what sizes to order of items online, and the quality of things when sometimes we know they are less than stellar. Thank you for your hard work and Merry Christmas!!
Some reviews form my Tues morning order:I received my Brisk Bloom WUP and wore them today. After all of the reports of sheerness, I not feeling optimistic. However, they pass the bend test for me and my husband confirmed. My measurements are between a 6 and an 8, and I ordered an 8 (which is what I consider my usual WUP size). I actually really love the print and find them flattering on my very muscular build (for reference I have very narrow hips, a muscular butt, and quads for days.) Glad I took a chance on these! (they are a higher poly content, though, which might bother some -- it did not bother me in barre class but might be an issue depending on your intended use... The poly makes them attract pet fur like CRAZY, though).I also received the coco piqué WUP, but am undecided on them. Soft and warm, but my thighs touch (sorry I'm not sorry, Chip!) and I do worry about pilling due to the texture. Finally, I received the WUP and WUC in PS. I ordered a size 8 in both and am going to see if I can track down a 6 in either to try. The do make my butt look great, but I they really aren't compressive and I think I should have gone with my smaller size. I'm not sure what to do if I can't find a 6 to exchange for. As I mentioned above, my measurements are between a 6 and an 8, but I almost always buy the 8s.If anyone out there sized down to a 6 and regrets it, let me know and I would gladly trade for either pants or crops.
@December 21, 2013 at 3:44 PM - WUP & WUC are not compression pants. Perhaps you should look into running tights if you're looking for that. Worn too tight, both types of wunder unders can become sheer depending on the fabric content and often results in some version of a muffin top.
@anon 5:43amShe's talking about the p stripe run day crops, which are not on the Canada website. Can anyone comment on the texture of the coco piqué WUP? Do they look horrible within a few wears?
I'm so sick of the lack of Lulu stock Canada side. P stripe run days have not hit Canada stores nor the Canada website. P stripe wunder under crops which FINALLY arrived at my city's stores on FRIDAY sold out in an hour. They still had the WU ps pants today, I suppose I could have purchased those and cut them off. So annoyed.
I have coco pique and PS WUC to angel but none of my coomments have posted
I just picked up the PS WUP today-ended up taking my regular size (8). I'm pear shaped and thought they'd be awful but they're incredibly flattering. However....I think these are going back. I'm going to play around with some poses tomorrow morning but from my first impression doing a couple of bends....staring at them gives me a headache! I'm prone to migraines and I didn't even think that I'd be sensitive to a bold print.
Just picked up the PC WUPs today-took my normal size (8). I'm pear shaped and didn't expect these to be flattering but I LOVE them. However...I think they're going back. I didn't notice in the store, but when I got home and tried a couple of poses in them I realized that staring at the bold print up close really hurts my eyes and makes me feel a bit dizzy. I'm prone to migraines so mostly that's the reason-but I never thought I'd be bothered by a print!
You're right, and compressive isn't really the tight word, exactly. I have compressive running tights and that's not what I'm looking for in WUs, which I use for barre class. But there is an element of wanting the right fit so the waist doesn't fall down, though, and the PS WUs seem to be a bit baggy at my knees, which is why I'd like to try the size down. I appreciate your concern but always do a downward dog test :)
@December 21, 2013 at 5:07 PM - Have already worn & washed my coco piques twice according to LLL washing recommendations. They look just as good as when they were brand new a few weeks ago! In some LLL fabrics, pilling can occur on the inner thigh area if there is friction from thighs rubbing together when you work out, run or walk. If not, you're in the clear!
My husband loves the Parallel Stripe Crops, too! He's always very positive & encouraging, but said these are his all-time favorites on me. Win-win for us both :)
Thanks to everyone who shared their opinions on the p stripe run day crops vs. the p stripe WUC. My dilemma was whether to have my friend angel them or not, because if I prefer the WUC, I can't just return the p stripe rundays to a Cdn store without a receipt. @ anon. 5:43 am: as 5:07 mentioned, the run day crops in p stripe are not available on the Cdn side of the website. They have not hit stores...and I've just about given up that they ever will!
Anon @ 3:18pm - Is that you Chip?! LMAO!!
you all have my worried about the Coco Piques. my thighs do touch (don't most of us have thighs that touch?). i have the Skinny Wills in the pique luon and LOVE them. i was hoping the Coco Piques would be a softer option. one of the educators was wearing a pair recently and they were pretty fuzzy. i didn't ask if they were the ones from this year or not (and i hadn't seen them in person yet to tell the difference). on Saturday, almost every educator was wearing Parallel Stripe. i'm glad i snatched mine online because almost all of the sizes were gone.
For any ladies looking for them in the Toronto area this weekend I spotted a few parallel stripe WUC and WUP at the Eaton Center and tried on the crops, ended up buying them! They were so soft and definitely not sheer and I stuck to my usual size 8, did the bend test and my boyfriend gave me the okay! Amazing crops, they almost feel like my WUC from a while back when they were black with a reversible coloured waistband! <3
