I just tried on the DSJ in the Suburban Square store in Ardmore PA. It is definitely a size up item. My typical 4 was very snug and would not allow for much layering underneath. I tried on the 6 too and while it was still slimming it was a better overall fit for me.

It is also reversible with logos on the inside and the outside! The inside is a heathered version of the outer color so its almost like two in one. The inner material is also soft. Fit is very flattering and slimming. The bottom of the outer part is like the same fabric as the top of the studio pants so its very stretchy. Did not buy but its on my wish list!

They were also unpacking the plum and inkwell studio pants while I was there. No inkwell inspires though.

Anyone know how the DSJ fits someone with a little "mommy tummy" left? It looks like the design might emphasize that area but I thought I'd ask just in case it works miracles. Thanks!

I'm not really sure WHY all the excitement of the dance studio jacket??? I owned two from previous years (5 years ago) and they were near impossible to sell when I wanted to get rid of them and I had them both in beautiful colours! Even at a giveaway price on eBay...I couldn't get rid of them and they were like-new! Seriously, I don't understand the excitement of this jacket. lol.... HUGE pass for me.... this jacket was the worst resell Lulu item I ever owned! (just being honest) :)

Loving this late summer palette!

I got the Inkwell Inspires over the weekend, so they are available in some US stores already. LOVE them.

In other people's experiences, what is your typical size in Inspires compared to Wunder Unders? I wear a 4 in WU but they only had the Inkwell Inspires in a size 6, so I tried them on and I think they work, but they aren't tight fitting in the waist. I wonder if I need a 4 for more compression. I have a pair of Inspires from over a year ago in a 4 but feel like I might be in between sizes for Inspires.. ugh!

Oooooh, Plum DSPs, how exciting!! Looks like it's gonna be a hard month on my wallet!

What are everyone's thoughts on that pink stripey scuba? I can't decide if I LOVE it or if it's a little too juvenile for a gal in her late 20's to be sporting.. I kinda want to hate it, I must stop shopping so much! I've really loved a lot of Lulu's latest stuff, after months of wanting nothing.. but I went a little nuts with RG, Spry and all the lovely stripes and patterns.

Help! Is INKWELL a navy color or does it have some purple in it? It looks purpley in the Studio Pants pic. Could be a "filtered" photo. I'd love it if it had a purple tinge.

I don't live by a store so I couldn't check it out. I have black swan SPs and love them. I'm not a navy fan, though. Bruised Berry is my favorite Lulu color so a dark "blurple" would be amAzing! :)

Does anyone know the price of the DSJ? Thanks so much!

I contacted Lulu and asked them what their inseam was for their tall and what their inseam was for their regular in pants? I asked specifically for the measurements of the still pants and the girl couldn't even answer my question--She said she couldn't tell me because the stills haven't been out for a very long time.... I then asked her what a regular was and what a tall was--still no answer. She claimed a regular leg inseam can vary anywheres from a 32-34 leg??? Anyone on here know? Thanks!!

I don't get the hype with this jacket. Too much going on and too form fitting. Not my style at all. But happy for those of you who were waiting for its return. I wish lll would bring bak the Rehearsal LS instead.

What is the price point on the DSJ? Thanks in advance!

I'm a new LLA! Would someone mind telling me why the DSJ is so awesome? And is DSJ > Scuba or Forme?

The Dance Studio product line quality is not the same as in previous years. The fabric is not as comfortable to wear (breathable) as before. Easy pass for me!

Inkwell is more true navy blue , imo, indigo had a more violet tone. And I too cant wait to get a new plum DSJ! I've about worn my concord one out. It is so flattering, everytime i wear it someone asks if i have lost weight.

Anonymous said...

Anon @ 11:30 - Inkwell is navy, very dark, no purple (to me). Black Swan has some purple in it if you are looking for a super dark blurple.

Definite size down!! If they're too big on you they will droop down while running/exercising!! I had inspired that were too big by one size and that's what happened to me- I ended up selling them.

If I wear a 4 in the Street to Studio should I size up to a 6 in this? I wear a 6 in all my CRB's..

Anonymous said...

I wear the same size in WU and Inspires. I personally wouldn't go up a size for Inspires.

Anonymous said...

the DSJ are $128

Anon @ 11:30 inkwell is definitely navy blue. No purple at all. I have it in both luon and swift materials like the dance studio crops so they are def navy blue. Very good neutral color tho. I love it combined with any color.

I agree Inspires should be TTS at best if not a size down item. The compression is just not there like it used to be so I don't think you're missing that by not getting your true size, BUT if the waist is too big now you'll be pulling those puppies up 5 minutes into your run.

Still pants run long. I'm 5'7" and I have mine hemmed. I just bought the plum ones and sent them in for hemming. If I had to ballpark, I'd say the regulars are 33-34".

I am a huge fan of the old DSJs. Agree the new line isnt nearly as good as the quality of the old and the fit is slightly off. I am a solid 6 in all tops, except size up to an 8 in defines and DSJs (although I have one 6 DSJ in heathered grapeseed that I sometimes wear too). When I tried on the new DSJ today, the 6 was way too tight, and the 8 was a decent fit, but it felt like the bottom part was tighter while the bust area was looser. I am larger busted too so that was surprising. Overall, I think its not as nice as the old DSJs, but still way better than most of the other jackets of late. Hope this helps!

THANK you Fran and 2:35pm on your info about the Still pants! :))))

@ anon 11:17 - I would have paid you full retail price (up til now) for your much despised DSJs from years past. Sometimes you just have to be patient with resell. The right happy bidder will come along. :)

To all resellers: I get so frustrated when I see used stuff for over retail value. I would happily pay retail and would get excited about a generous discount. So many sellers ruin the auction by starting with an asinine price to begin with. Let the bidders bid it up! Start your resell at what you'd honestly be happy with. After all you wore the designer wear when it was hottest and should be happy you were able to "have it for only $10/$20, etc." And those selling certain NWT items... Many of us remember seeing that in WMTM so you're not fooling us. (ex: DSJ in coal, white and blurred gray)

@ anon 11:38 $128 USD

Disagree on the DSJ, BUT totally agree on the Rehearsal LS!!! ;) Different tastes. :)

Thanks for the help! :)

I'd LOVE to know the fabric makeup on the new DSJs.

Just got my Sea Check Pacesetter and it's 2-way with no give. Good for me because I'd be more of a 5 than a 4 or 6. BUT, I want stretch in my DSJ and need to know if it's size up, TTS, etc. reports seem all over the board. I was a 4 in 2011s release. Tried on but never bought one because I was waiting for the perfect color. Then POOF it disappeared... Until now. ;)

Thank you to those who helped me with my inspire question! I wore the size 6 in my house for a bit and definitely think they are too big... I'll be looking to return or exchange for a 4. I think I got too excited when I saw the inkwell color and figured maybe a 6 would work when my normal size is a 4... they feel too baggy around the waist and knees, now that I've been wearing them around the house. Would hate to have this happen when running!

Thanks so much!

I'd need to see the DSJ in person before I'd commit. After my soot light studio crops showed up and they were the shoddiest quality (compared to older ones) I am a little leery. I should have sent those back but wound up keeping them because I loved the color. But, not shockingly, I never wear them . They look and feel cheap. I'm not interested in spending $128 on a cheap jacket.

Regarding the ridiculous prices for used items on eBay...I noticed something funny recently. I was bidding on a pair of USED Play in the Sun shorts. I dropped out of bigging because they ended up selling for $87. Retail was $58. Plus, remember that these were used. This weekend I bought a pair of the exact same shorts for $40 and these ones are brand new. So, it pays to have a little patience because you never know. There might be that one person who is totally willing to spend a never ending amount of money for a particular item. I'm glad I dropped out of that first auction and ended up getting a nicer pair for half the price.

Yeah I agree w/ you about the rediculouse prices on ebay- more and more people buying up items then turning around and selling at huge increases- I don't sell/buy lulu on there much anymore- I always shake my head and want to blast the sellers so I avoid even looking much!!! also about 3 years ago the total count was around 5,000 total items lulu, now its over 20,000 items- crazy!!!! and most of the sellers are using it as a business!! ruining it imo

I am another one who doesn't get the DSJ. I've been wearing LLL for about 7 years now, and I never, ever saw the appeal of it.
To each her own, but this one is not for me!
Also, def don't size up on the Inspires unless you want to be yanking up your pants while you run.
I hate that they're not compressive anymore. I think the fabric change happened around summer of last year....I bought a pair of Inspires with the polka dot inset at the SeaWheeze last year, and the fabric was still good. They had the smaller, cut in waist (that has since been changed back), but the fabric was still good. *sigh* I miss the old LLL. :(

I'm a solid size 4 in LLL. I've owned both sizes 4 & 6 in the dsj. The difference for me is the 4 rides up and bunches. I found it annoying to constantly tug it down, so I sold the size 4. The size 6 is still flattering and lays well. So if you are like me and have hips, consider sizing up. For reference I'm 5'5", 112lbs. Hope this helps!

@1146 anon - what were they supposed to say? if you talked to the gec, they aren't online yet, and they haven't been since january. they wouldn't have any way of knowing what the new stills have for inseams. better they say they don't know than give false info.

Anonymous said...

I think there may be a regular and a tall version of the still pant as the pair I got was tagged 'still pant *R.' I would estimate the inseam to be roughly 32-33 in. (Sz 2), but it may vary by size slightly. On me this was a size down item.

Anonymous said...

I consider the fabric of the new DSJ comparable to the old one. It is comfy, flattering, warm, and well made. It does not look cheap like some recent items Lulu has made. It ages well and washes well. I have sized up to 6 in each one from my normal 4's in Scubas. I am happy Lulu is listening and bringing back the items were are asking them to continue....:)

Anonymous said...

If I were to guess on the TALL still pant inseam I would say 35-36. I am 5'11 and usually take a 34.5-35 inseam in pants. The tall stills are just a "smidge" too long. If I were to guess the regular still are about 33 inches. Maybe 32.
