I just ordered $160 worth of stuff on Ivivva, the Love red strength & move shorts size 14, spry blue singlet size 12 (much cuter than the one shown above IMO), and another new tank in pretty purple size 14, looks sort of like a run: tame me tank. Oh also the village chill scarf in Pop orange :)
I'm a size 4 in most lulu items with the exception of some tight fitting tops I size up to 6 for more chest area.

Hmm, may have to pass on the Spry Featherweight singlet after all, it looks really long in the back, and it's not going to be able to be hemmed. I may be too short for that, drats! Will wait to try on in store. It looked so cute on the Aussie website (maybe because the models were taller and thinner than the women here?). Drats! I wish Lulu would do some petite sizing, they do tall skirts, why not a few petite tops? I think I was the only one here that liked the Swiftly Shortcuts. (Even though it was Lulu shamelessly trying to cut costs by making them shorter and using less fabric!). I think that's what they are doing with the jackets too!

the girl in the red pants and bra needs to size up...

I would love to hear insight on sizing and performance of the singlet from anyone who has tried it -- thanks!

Ivivva stuff is great but most tops are two or three inches shorter than the lulu equivalent (exception is the ivivva crb). Loving their patterns! Oh and the PRICES!

Hey body fascist at 3:46pm! No she doesn't! She's wearing just the right size. Boo to your nasty attitude.

Anonymous said...

Woops! Sorry 3:46. Please redirect my boo to the body fascist at 3:26pm.

Please don't comment on the models! It takes guts to pose for the pics! No need to judge!

Singlet looks nice from the front, not so much from the back...

Anon@3:16
I liked the swiftly shortcuts too! I have 5 of them and I am 5'7". Regular tanks ride up when I get moving anyway so might as well just buy them short! With the crb amd other long tanks, they ride up and bunch in the waist and then makes my waist look thicker.

Ugh. I am SO disappointed with that singlet. It's frumpy and what is up with the slit in the back? It reminds me of a ladybug's back, but not in a cute way. I hate it.
So, I need your opinions. I'm running the Seawheeze, and my favorite long run training top is an Underarmor top. It's a singlet, and LLL doesn't have one. Can I wear the UA one with LLL bra & bottoms, or is that like blasphemy? Also good to note- that the Inspires I'm going to wear are from 2 years ago b/c I haven't been able to replace them. First the waist changed, now the fabric sucks.

In case anyone is interested, I tried the Track Attack skirt in the store today. Too short. I am 5'0 tall and I found it too short. Granted, I do have a long torso, but nothing freakish. I found this style tts and when I sized down like some people have been saying, the 4 was too snug and even shorter than the 6. If they ever make this in a tall length then I would get it. As it is though, too little material. Surprisingly, the shorts were not see through underneath. Dim fitting room though, so I would not bet my life on it.

Also, I returned the Nimbus Groovy stripe Pace Setter in store. I had ordered 2 that were size 4 tall and 2 that were size 6 tall. Like many others who read this blog, if the material is 2-way stretch then I need the bigger size; if it is 4-way stretch then I wear the smaller size.

If their website would be less lazy and just list the two types of stretch separately, then I would never need to order 2 sizes with each new Pace Setter. Because this was a pattern/print (and I wanted the best placement) I had to order 2 of each size so my return was a total of 4 items. Snotty cashier made a comment about how I had so many. Hello, if your company had not made defective merchandise in the first place, I would not need to return ALL of them!

I generally like the store I go to, but once in a while I wonder if they hire some people from the human reject pile.

I can tell you that the Love Red Inspire crops are a bit sheer. Just got mine today. :(
I hope USA gets the Love Red Will crops next week. I think these Inspires are going back. And if LuLu is listening...HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SIZE! They fit perfect fine, I just don't like that you can clearly make out the print on my underwear!

I don't think it was a mean comment about the 'model' in the red...and I agree with her comment. I love that Lulu uses 'real' models however I do think it's important these individuals wear properly fitting Lulu clothing in order to at least make it look appealing!

Some really ugly stuff out right now....disappointing. And the singlet is NOT attractive AT ALL!

OT:
Anyone know what will be on markdown tonight? I haven't been to my local store in weeks so not sure what they have in WMTM.

Any fit reviews for the Promenade Long Sleeve? I love my Devotion Long Sleeve tees and might like the Promenade LS as well. TIA!

The singlet looks cute from the front, but I really don't care for the back. It reminds me of the long pincers of an earwig.

Anon@3:46, I was wondering the same thing too, so I went on the Aussie website (where this tank has been available for weeks now). Not one review. It makes me think that the price (I think it was $88 Au) could be a big deterrent for people, especially since it doesn't have a built in bra. You'd expect such an unstructured piece to cost less, but this is Lulu we're talking about. Kind of like how they are selling a running skirt without any $14 more than a Pacesetter skirt. Just makes absolutely no sense!

Hmm, I don't know about body fascists, but the red crops do look a little tight.

I left the first comment, I didn't mean to be mean. The items are squeezing into her waist and chest, they should not be that snug. Esp when wearing colors. They show everything. If she's bold well good for her but she's going to get a lot of looks. If she were my friend I'd tell her rather than let her be embarrassed. One of the reasons we buy Lulu is to get noticed, she will get noticed, but not in a good way.

Featherweight singlet looks like tuxedo tails in back, ugh. Wish they would bring back old styles that did really well...105f singlet pleeeeese???

Anon 5:18 - I'm running SW too, and I also ran last year. It is very true that the race is a lulu-lovefest and the majority of folks will be running in lulu. However, don't let that be a deterrent to what you feel best running in. I ran in a swiftly tank and a New Balance skirt last year. Wear what you've been training in ... And resist the urge to buy something new at the Showcase store and wear it on race day. Best of all, good luck with the remainder of your training! The race is a ton of fun!

I don't buy lulu to get noticed. I buy lulu because I practice yoga 5-6 days a week and it works for me. It wears and washes really well. Please don't say 'we' as I don't want to be grouped with people who are looking at this (awesome)blog and judging and criticizing women's bodies instead of the new styles, prints and colors.

About the promenade long sleeve. I live downunder and buy on the US side and NZ side. Unfortunately Kiwis and Aussies arent as vigilant about doing reviews like you are! I always look to the US website for reviews. Its such a fantastic tool for figuring out what will or won't work. Love that they do that and love you guys for writing the reviews!!When they chopped off our buying power on your webpage I opened a forwarding postbox in the US. Theres more than one way to skin a cat lulu. Its expensive to ship purchases downunder, but all in all it works out about the same as purchasing here if you buy 3 items at a time. I wonder if opening a forwarding postbox down under would work for some of you hankering for items we get down here and you don't?

I'm on the east coast where it is 6:38 am and the WMTM hasn't been updated yet. Its usually updated by this time. Was hoping for some good stuff. Hopefully it comes up soon.

That singlet is soooo unattractive! And why are all the clothes so wrinkled?

Anonymous said...

i didn't read all of the above comments but am loving all the different body types in this series of photos!

The girl in the red pants looks lovely and athletic. The body judgment and assertions that women wearing Lululemon are looking to be noticed and therefore open themselves up to body critiques is nauseating. I am not down with being lumped in with people who say stuff like this. 9:05, your body might be perfect by some arbitrary standards, but it might be time to look a little deeper for things to improve.

nothing appeals to me for some reason. in terms of the fit of the clothes, I don't think it has to do with being facist or mean.
Those pants are small on the lady, they should fit snug but not tight, they are workout clothes and are meant to move and stretch. that is how you bust a seam. I do appreciate the ladies who volunteer to pose.

What's with the $68 price tag on the featherweight singlet?

Re: the 'sizing up' and we 'wear Lulu to get noticed' comment: The snobbishness, shallowness, and rudeness of some of the comments on this blog never cease to amaze me. Yikes!

Are the bonded WU pants and crops really as bad as the reviews would have me believe?! That sale price is tempting...but not worth it for one or two wears before they tear at the seams. Any personal stories with the bonded pants?

The Love Red Fast Track Tank is actually cute for Christmas runs. I'm running a marathon in Texas In December and think it would be great for that.

I agree with the notice comment. Take note she said "one of the reasons" insinuating there are others...Let's face it you're not paying for quality any more. It's a brand that's lost to profits. It's the same reason one wold buy a Louis Vuitton, etc. You buy it to show everyone else you have a status, have money, it's vanity. Companies feed off this, trust me I work in a design co. You all fall for it like moths to a flame. Just look at most men, they don't care, they buy cheap and keep items for years. Women are addicts for the new trends and love to wave their acquisitions in other womens face, even subliminally. If you just cared to work out you go to Target, not pay $100 for mediocre yoga pants. That being said it is brave people pose but promote the right size... especially in more tricky styles and colors...

@ anon 9:43 am - I would trust the reviews. Quite a few of the bonded bottoms have had problems. Additionally, seams with bonding are harsh feeling. I don't own a single item with bonded seams. I stay away from it like the plague.

No one was criticizing her body! Simply saying she was wearing the wrong size.

I love the colors Sizzle and Love Red but is anyone else reminded of Ronald McDonald when they are paired together?

Anonymous said...

My first thought was McDonald's when i saw the colors, that or that horrible color blocking done in the 80s

mimi said...

Lol, Leslie. I have been thinking those same thoughts. I like both colors individually, but together they do look like McD.

I've been seeing golden arches too!
