The Latest and Quickie Store Trip Report

The newest Contempo jacket in Cool Breeze and Power Purple. I saw Cool Breeze in the store today. It's definitely more lavender than blue.

New solid Pizazz Inspire crops have hit the stores.

New Mod Moves tank in the stores. I spotted this in my local store today, it's in Cool Breeze/Power Purple/Pizzaz.

Pop Orange (top) vs. Pizazz Swiftly SLs
Pizzaz and Raspberry Glo Swiftly tanks - both are back to the regular length.

New Pizazz Swiftly tank and white Clam Digger crops (top) and new Cool Breeze Pacesetter skirt (bottom). BTW, the stores have solid Soot Light Clam Diggers but I haven't spotted any photos of them yet.

Mod Moves SS in Aquamarine and matching Mod Moves crops. I tried this top on today and really liked it. It fits TTS and is not boxy. I would not size down in this.

Pizazz No Limit tank.

Pizazz Energy bras are in the stores. I bought this today. I wasn't intending to but it will look fun under my Cool Racerbacks.

Mod Moves SS and SE Inspire Crops

I tried on the Special Edition Inspires with the waterproof zip pocket. The pocket is also longer than in the past so you can slip your phone right in. In my current crops I have to finagle it a bit to get it in. One minor thing is that the pocket is not stretchy but my phone fit in nicely when I removed it from the case, which is what I always do anyway. The luxtreme in these is that newer stiff luxtreme and had decent coverage. Not squat worthy coverage imo, but decent enough for running and stretching out. I hope this new bigger, waterproof pocket becomes the norm in all the run crops. I think most women run with their phones.

New Groovy Run and Speed Short prints.

The new Nimbus Groovy Stripe Cool Racerback (upper right). My local store did not get this today and I believe they are only in Canada right now.

These are Raspbeery Glo Light Cool Racerbacks but I am not sure whether they are the ribbed or the plain ones. My store had the ribbed CRBs in the Pinkelicious but not Raspberry Glo but an ed told me the ribbed will come in both pinks. I thought the ribbing this time around felt softer than previous releases but it's still a fairly thick fabric. I already have Cool Racerbacks in both these pinks so will pass on the ribbed versions.

I saw this duffel today. It's a very nice size, particularly for a carry on or weekend bag.

New Multi Groovy Stripe All Sport bra is coming. I would normally squeal over this but the straps are solid Raspberry Glo and not striped so I think I will have to pass since the stripes won't show under my tanks but I may change my mind when I see it in the store. It's super pretty.

Cool Breeze Studio Crops.

Zippy Green Luxtreme Boogies.

I also got myself the Multi Groovy Stripe Bangbuster today. I was torn with whether to go with a symmetrical or asymmetrical pattern but went with one with a lot of pink.

Multi Groovy Stripe All Sport bra, YES! my fav bra + pretty stripes! LLL finally done something right.

Anonymous said...

totally going to snap up that multi groovy stripe all sport. LOVE the all sport for running, but i didn't really get into lulu until all they had left was burning yellow and black.

update on my store purchase today: i was smart and didn't rip off the tag for my zippy green luxtreme boogies before trying them on again at home -- in the store they didn't seem sheer, but at home? i could see the color (light pink) and lace pattern of the thong i was wearing. :/ back they go! bummer, because they feel so nice and the color is HOT for dance class.

kind of glad i have to go back though -- want to grab the raspberry glo and pizazz swiftly tanks in anticipation of buying that new all sport!

Anonymous said...

So excited for that all sport. By far my favorite run bra and finally some fun colors!

Anonymous said...

anyone know if the pizzaz speed shorts are 2 or 4 way stretch?

Anonymous said...

My paris pink ribbed CRB is one of my softest ever... I saw the pinkelicious in store and it has vertical rather than horiztonal ribbing. Felt yucky and cheap.

Anonymous said...

Love the pizazz inspires and energy bra and I like that new Mod Moves tank too. I've been very lukewarm on that tank in general, but something about that color combo has a 70's vibe to it that calls to me. I want that Nimbus Groovy Stripe crb too. If this all makes the next upload it will be my first big lulu purchase in ages...

Has anyone tried on the Cool Breeze Studio Crops? How are they for coverage? Sheer?
I love the looks of them, but I'm worried that they'll be uber sheer.

JCHokie said...

Should I size up on the new Speed shorts with the stripes on the band? I've tried them on in stores and seemed like sizing was either TTS or had to go up one.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know how the raspberry glo compares to pow pink and Paris pink?

Anonymous said...

Tried an a groovy stripe soot energy bra yesterday. Have pic.

Anonymous said...

What are the red and yellow colors in the groovy stripe pattern? :) Lots of pretty colors coming out! Spry included!

Anyone notice the new skirt in the skirt/dresses banner?

Anonymous said...

Anyone know if the straps on the mesh side of the Sand to Savasana bag are sewn into the bag itself? I am interested but just want to make sure they are not secured only to the mesh as they would probably tear right off.

Anonymous said...

Mod Moves tank in cool breeze/power purple/pizzaz. That whole combo looks very retro 1970s. I do not dig that ruffle/tail thing a the bottom of the tank.

Anonymous said...

I bought the Boogie Lux in black. I was pleased with their fit and the material. I'm not into the bright bottoms so will not buy those ones. I'm a size 4 in all LLL bottoms but I sized up to a 6 for the boogies. This is my first pair of boogie shorts and I hope they do well in Bikram Yoga.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the quick update on the sand to savasana bag. I ordered this mainly because i LOVe the colour and need a bag for keeping my extra hoodies, mits and blankets in for night time soccer games in Canada.

Anonymous said...

Anyone knows if the Cool Breeze Studio crops are see through or not? I love the color but I am afraid to order it since it does not have lining. Thanks!

Ok, so EVERYTHING I buy from Lulu...I wash first, because Im afriad of where it may have come from. Possibly a poor dilapidated factory...in some factory, gawd knows where. lulu can say what they want on their wall about how they treat their worksers well and how they claim to pay them "top dollar" for that area, in that foreign country. (notice they never say how much. For all we know, it could be $10 a day and people working 15-18 hr days)

At the end of the day however, we dont really KNOW what goes on in the making of Lulu garnments, because we ARENT right there to know...and SEE for ourselves. I suspect if we knew the truth, we might be appauled...

if you get a new jacket or hoodie, do you wash it right away....? I Think of where my hoodie might have been or come from....and all the dirty hands that may have touched it and I get grossed out. tell me, when you get new wraps, jackets and hoodies, do you wash them as soon as ou get them??? Im curious, as I have a new hoodie and something tells me I should wash it before wearing.... Im not asking to be nasty or condescending... Im just sick a lot and dont want to keep getting sick!

AWT said...

Is stiff Luxtreme a good thing? I just bought the SE inspires and am worried about the reviews saying how much the luxtreme has changed and is far inferior than in the past. Although I've been buying Lulu for 5 years, this is my first luxtreme purchase, and my initial impressions are not very good. The fabric seems very thin and flimsy, and not very compressive (though I've only just ventured into running, and I'm not sure that I know what good compressive pants feel like).

LuluAddict said...

@ AWT - I just used the term 'stiff' to compare it to the previous super soft, super stretchy version. I think it's fine. I have Moving Comfort compression shorts that have very similar feeling material. This is the newest luxtreme that is a bit thicker than it has been in the most recent past. I think reviews have generally been positive about it.

Anonymous said...

the contempo jacket in COOL BREEZE....is the jacket soft or more scrathcy?! ive read some less than stellar reviews and would love to know! :)

Anonymous said...

@Anon 6:22 AM

No matter where I buy things from I wash them before I wear them out.

It's all personal preference but there are some dirty people out there trying those clothes on..

M.E.L.R. said...

OT - Does anyone have any laundry tips for getting pen out of Luon? I ruined one of my CRB's with some pen splotches :( not even sure when it happened. Just noticed it when I was doing laundry yesterday.

Thanks. As always, love the blog LLA <3

6:22 I wash every garment I purchase new doesn't matter if it is Patagonia or lulu. If I buy from the local lulu store I also wash, lots and lots of people try the stuff on.
Some people bring the garments home and wear them around the house and then return them. I have read many comments on this blog about people doing this.
I wash the headbands jackets everything.

M

Anonymous said...

of course you wash before you wear- everything- contains chemicals from manufacturing- those go against your skin the biggest organ of your body right into your blood stream- do a google search and see what it is i am saying- the exact chemicals from dyes, preservatives etc. will be listed.

Anonymous said...

So super excited about the groovy stripe all sport bra. My favorite bra ever.

I bought the cool breeze studio crops yesterday but have not tried them on with dark underwear. Will try and report back. Definitely more lavender tghan light blue in person as LLA stated. I really like how it pairs with power purple. Much better than aquamarine imo.

Anonymous said...

Tried on the Mod crops, love them! I wanted something shorter then the inspire and these were it. I also think the pockets on side are slimming. I did try the WU in static (just sold out online) they were nice material, comfortable. They would be fine for hanging out but can't really see working out in them. As far as sizing, I am between a 4 and 6 and would have bought the 4. A little tighter then previous but not so much that I would size up. I got this feeling from the ed that more of this material is coming...she made a HUGE point that Lulu is listening to our feedback...didn't leave with anything though.

Anonymous said...

That All Sport Bra is so pretty! Too bad it gives me an immense amount of back fat. And, you are right--I wish the straps were striped too. One of my favorite older bras was the Flow Y in a paris pink stripe and I can't remember the name of the stripe right now. Something elevation? I love it because the straps are striped too and they peek out from a tank and look so cute. Too bad Lulu jacked up the Flow Y now so badly that it is completely unwearable for me (and also laughable).

Luli Designs said...

Anon 4:31am - Well spotted on the new skirt that is in the banner. It looks cute but I am not really a ruffles girl but it will be good to see what colors it is going to come in.

I bought the Pizazz Energy Bra in store yesterday as well as the Nimbus Stripe CRB which seems to only be available in Canada so far. I was interested to see that the stripe pattern was pretty much the same in all of the ones in my local store. It looks pretty much like the one online other than the trim which does have varying pattern.

Anonymous said...

@ 6:22 new garments should be washed before being worn.

Talking about working/factory conditions is one thing; inferring things about the employees is another thing. You say you are "not asking to be nasty or condescending" and yet you state "...and all the dirty hands that may have touched it and I get grossed out", so you're full of contradictions and condescension.

For the record, I guarantee you that some seemingly clean North American or "first world" individuals are absolutely dirty. I work for a major corporation in a fancy office tower and many women are nasty. I won't gross you out with their disgusting bathroom behavior, not washing their hands, or only one hand (!) after using the facilities, or MUCH worse.

Many things may appear clean but are not. The only control you have, to some extent, is over your own home and belongings.

Anonymous said...

@ anon 6:22 am, I wash all my clothing before use, not because of those 'dirty hands', but because of those try-on-for-hours dirty items. One time, I received an item with very strong perfume smelt (I almost fainted) that made me suspect that it must have had been a returned item from someone wearing strong perfume. That really grossed me out! I know from this blog that some people would try on some items for several hours before returning so the chance of getting germs from these people could be much higher, IMO.

Anonymous said...

I always wash clothes before wearing- mainly because of the chemicals in the dye but also because you don't know where it's been - tried on, bought and returned, etc...

Anonymous said...

I picked up the crb in nimbus groovy stripe today and the stripes distribution were all the same (at least in my size), the only difference on all the tanks was the pattern distribution along the piping of the neckline. So there's no need to cherry pick unless you're super picky about the piping.

I finally got my Voyage hoodie in the mail today. I don't get what the raves are on this one! It is a very boring, standard hoodie. I love the additional length that it has, so that's nice. But, the front "surf" pockets are see-through so not even usable in my opinion. The french terry material is somewhat soft, I guess, but nothing spectacular. And, I had to size up just to fit my DD chest into it. Overall, it has a good amount of room in it, so I would say that it is definitely a TTS item, but if you have large watermelons, I would consider that they may not fit. After I sized up the rest of the jacket, and especially the arms, were a bit too big. (the arms were too long).

I think these are going back. It is such an average hoodie that it isn't worth the money to me. I'd much rather have a longer-length Scuba.

Anonymous said...

I tried on and purchased the studio crops in cool breeze today. Did not find them sheer at all. Was very surprised. Could not see the outline of the pockets from the front and was wearing saturated purple undies which I could not see even in a bend test.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 11:20 am - I kind of feel like you do. I had my lulu goggles on when I bought mine. I think people have been waiting so long for a lightweight, longer french terry hoodie that they are jumping all over this one. I'd like it a ton more if it didn't have the board short material overlay and a normal pocket in front.

Sandra said...

I got my coal WUC today and they look small in the waist band but I haven't tried them on... I'm prob going to return them for a size up.

Anonymous said...

@ Luli Designs--your profile pic is really pretty!

Anonymous said...

@ LLA. I completely agree with your statement that people have been waiting for this type of a hoodie for a long time. I just think that maybe we have lowered our standards a bit over the past year.

The board short material is confusing to me. I wondered if it was supposed to be like those gaiters that they sold in the winter, but for your mid-section. Like, if a car drove by through a puddle and splashed you , you could be like, "LOOK MA! TUMMY'S DRY!"

Anonymous said...

OT but I called my store to see if they were getting the nimbus/white striped scuba and they said no, that they have sent all of their scubas back and it will be online only. I know some people mentioned they were waiting to see it in store for stripe line up so wanted to pass along. I ordered it but really would love if this pattern came in the voyage! I agree it's not "out of this world" but I really like it and think it's a good staple item.

Anonymous said...

@6:22 your comments are ignorant and condescending. I was born in a poor country in Asia (I guess you could call it 3rd world) and there are countless ways in which people there practice better hygiene than they do here. You said get sick a lot and you think it's because it was made by people with "dirty hands"??? That would be laughable if it wasn't so offensive

Anonymous said...

I haven't tried to remove pen from a Lulu garment, but I have removed lots of pen marks from other clothing using hair spray. I spritz the garment fairly generously with hairspray (you might want to do a color fast test first on an inconspicuous portion of the item first). Then I blot that with a towel or something absorbent (A lot of the times, the ink will come off here). Then I launder as normal (but I don't put it in the dryer as I don't want the dry heat to set the stain if I have to repeat the process). It works almost all the time, and if it doesn't completely remove the pen mark, it is very, very faint. Good luck! Lipstick is a lot harder to get out than pen!

Anonymous said...

i have to disagree on the voyager hoodie...not being all that great or being rather plain. LOL Someone somewhere wrote something about the PP being as tho it had been washed a 100 times. LOL I ordered one and the colour is bright and vibrant and looks AMAZING on me!! I LOVE it, but as with everything...not everyone is going to agree. :) I remember a few years ago, people saying how they didnt "like" the Remix Lux hoodie & why...and now everyone wants one! LOL Some will like, some will hate, some will love it! Thats just the way it is! :)

I ran over to Lulu today after a pool workout and before I ate a Top Pot donut! I walked out empty handed. I loved the new pizzaz No Limits tank, but unfortunately, it was long enough to be a dress on me (I'm only 5' tall). I have to get a size 6 in anything that has a built in bra because of my chest, so then those tops are almost always way too long. I also tried on an Ignite tank in black. That wasn't as long as the other tank, but it was still too long. It was super cute, though, and I thought very flattering (It made me look long and skinny!)

I also tried on the Speed shorts and Pace Setter skirt in Pizzaz. Someone yesterday likened the pizazz shorts to "Hooter shorts", so that was foremost in my mind when I tried them on. They were TTS, and my normal size 4 (what I wear in Speeds). The skirt was size 2, aso TTS for a Pace Setter skirt (I find they run bigger than the shorts for some reason). I love the new color, but I think I prefer to have a top rather than bottoms in pizzaz. There were Swiftly tanks in pizzaz too,but the color seemed more washed out than the shorts, skirt and No Limits tank. Maybe it's just me, but the Swiftly fabric isn't that nice, soft stuff any more, it's stiff and kind of scratchy.

One thing that surprised me is the Runbeam short sleeved shirt was actally a lot cuter and nicer than I thought it would be. It's also a roomier top, so I was a 4 in that as well as the Mod Moves short sleeve. I didn't buy either one of those, will wait for WMTM because I already have a ton of short sleeved shirts.

All in all, there is some really cute stuff at the store, and if you haven't been in a while, you might think again about stopping by and trying stuff on. Lulu is so weird with their sizing. I can be a 2 or a 4 in a bottom, and a 2,4 or a 6 on top. (I'm 5'tall, 102lbs. and 32D for reference.)

Anonymous said...

I'm still disappointed that we didn't see more solid tops come out in Very Green. It's such a great color, I would have loved to have a solid CRB, shorts, or a Pacesetter Skirt. I would also like to see a Multi Groovy Stripe with Very Green. That could be very pretty.

Anonymous said...

I bought the charcoal WU crops today... AMAZINGLY SOFT. They do show a few dimples and bumps, so I will try them on at home in more natural lighting to see how bad the rear view is. But, I am so happy to see they are made in Canada!!!!!

Anonymous said...

OT - I'm really loving my Beach Runner Jacket. I don't know if I'll ever actually run in it, but I'll get tons of wear out of the black one I purchased on sale. It's not worth full price IMO, but it's super soft and body skimming TTS, without being tight. If you have a small chest, you might even be able to size down. I'm 5'6", 135, 34DD and my regular size 10 fits with room for a thin LS top. The fit is very similar to a Stride or In Stride, but not quite as long.

Anonymous said...

i made it into my local store today and got the pace setter - cool breeze in Tall - so happy the color is so pretty. i wanted to get the cool breeze dance studio crops - they were not see thru at all - the reason i didn't get them is b/c (and it's just my own pet peeve) but the drawstring closures are now cheap plastic they use to be metal and have lululemon on them - don't care so much about the lululemon part but that the endings are now a cheap plastic is really disheartening.

Anonymous said...

BTW...the swiftly tech racerback is GORGEOUS in the very green... I just got one and I LOVE IT!! :)

Anonymous said...

Top Pot donut! So jealous, I miss them so much!

Dear anon@6.22
I live in a 3rd world country and we have access to all the washing items like you do. It is condescending and ignorant to assume that people who work in clothing factories are dirty. They may be poorly paid, by 1st world standards but that doesn't mean they are unhygenic. They are not beggars on the street. They are decent people, like you and me, trying to make a living.
I have lived, for many years in 1st world countries and met very dirty people who don't clean themselves. And for those people who try on their lulus for hours before returning them, I dont know what to say.
Cleanliness is a very personal thing, we do not need to be educated, rich or live in an advanced environment to practice it.

Anonymous said...

@ 6:22, fellow germaphobe here. I'm really hoping that the germy hands you talk about belong to fellow store browsers, not the 3rd world seamstresses. Based on the amount of time it takes for the clothes to travel to your store, any germs they may have had (I am NOT implying they are germier than westerners -- we all have germs) would've died. The germs to worry about are from fellow store browsers (nail-biters with spitty fingers, people who have just blown their noses, sweaty people, etc... I could go on indefinitely). I wash my clothes before wearing too, but that's because I want to wash away the nasty chemicals from the dyes. Also, you might want to consider that your germaphobia is actually making you ill. If you aren't exposed enough germs in everyday life, your immune system has fewer opportunities to build up its defenses, so you are more susceptible to getting sick.

Anonimouse said...

Anon @ 5.01

I agree with you, expose yourself to some germs and ditch the anti bacterial cleaners to stay more healthy.

By the way LLA did the SE Inspires really have a higher rise or was that just an urban legend?

Anonymous said...

Did anybody notice the Australian site got the embody crops? Why can't they bring them back to the US!?!?

Anonymous said...

I'm with 1:37 pm - I love very green but haven't liked anything it has been out in enough to buy it. I so wanted to love the make it count tank but it is not supportive enough and the darn key hole shows through. Speeds would be fab!! We can keep hoping I guess!

I personally have not been washing my lulu stuff first but I guess I will now after reading all these comments.

Question about how to best care for a bang buster - do you ladies wash it with your workout gear or hand wash separately and lay flat to dry? I'm wondering if eventually all the washing causes it to lose elasticity. Thanks.

Anonymous said...

I'm all for reducing waste and everything, but I wonder if these items like the Mod Moves tank and the Voyager hoodie, etc., are all pieced together with leftover odds and ends of fabric. I just don't get the appeal of the swim fabric just for pockets, or a swift peplum added to an otherwise normal looking tank??

OT: just got the white Om pants in the mail. They are cute and feel great, but they look like pajamas. I can't believe I spent $92 on them (facepalm).

Anonymous said...

@6:22 Factories everywhere are dirty. I've been to manufacturers where I live in Los Angeles and they aren't exactly spotless. So yes, wash your items before you wear them. I used to eat organic fruit without washing it because I thought, hey no pesticides. But my friend was like, think of all the hands it's been through. The person picking it was out in the hot sun, wiping sweat from their brow and then picking that strawberry you're now eating. Needless to say I thoroughly wash everything now. Honestly, I think EVERYONE'S hands are germy. If you always get sick, wash your hands more often and never touch your face!

Anyone else notice the skirt in the banner for skirts/dresses? CUTE RUFFLES!

Anonymous said...

Eh..... I don't really care if I wash it or not....

Haha if your worried about dirty lulu you should think about what happens in a restaurant kitchen..... Or a grocery store!

HA! Factory workers!? Your messed! Know how many hands its crossed after the "factory worker"!??????? Duh!

And what you think!? All this lulu is hand crafted!? Please! It's machines! How do you think they get it to be consistent!!!!!! Haha OMG read a book!

Anonymous said...

@ 1:37 PM totally agree with you on Very Green! I want a CRB in VG very much!

Someone mentioned we didn't get one as they made an Ivivva tank in VG. Well, Ivivva got a Bleached Coral tank and other LLL colours, so that does not make sense. LLL is just ass backwards.

Anonymous said...

All I need to know is the number of times I've read here about people going commando in their LLL gear, which I assume they would do the same for trying on in store or at home, so this is utterly GROSS.

As a rule for forever, I have always washed new garments before wearing.

6:22 is rude.

No bleeding when I hand washed my Ras Glo Lt CRB today ( before wearing;) thank goodness! I returned my Char WUC size 4 because who wants crazy I just wet my pants sweat marks, eww. Cute or not I sweat at the gym and that is just not a good look. I could have tried to rip people off on Ebay but decided to do the decent thing and return them to the store and let some lucky lady score a pair:) FYI the store is at West End in MN;) I also ordered a size 6 to compare sizing but those will be going back too. I picked up a dazzle Energy bra, Ras Glo CRB, blk pacesetter and PP pacesetter. I love Ras Glo and dazzle together:) Can't wait for the groovy stipe power Y to make it to the US, TOO cute!

Agreed
Wash clothes before wearing
Clothes Can land on the floor in the dressing room

Also, I'm usually shopping with a kiddie who gets into anything and everything she can ...and promptly sticks it in her mouth if I'm not fast enough

I want to buy that all sport bra! I cannot wait.

Also the energy bra is available in size 2! (finally) and I'm pretty happy with it. It does "flatten" but I find it mOre supportive than all sport.
I've also decided to wait for the mod moves singlet to go on sale. I love the style but the only colour I like is pp and I already have two purple tanks...so unless it's on MD or it comes in another colour/pattern not on my collection then I cannot buy it. Fingers crossed i don't cave bc as i write this I'm thinking of getting it haha

Anonymous said...

My friend and I actually had the opposite experience! I was hesitant to try it at first since it looked like your standard hoodie. However, after seeing it on my 32DD friend zip it all the way up and say it was extremely comfy I gave in. I thought it was an extremely flattering cut that doesn't pooch out when I sit or bend over. Most importantly, it zipped comfortably over my 34DDD boobs!!! Clearly a point of excitement for me since I usually only manage to zip most of my jackets (lulu or not) up to the point under my boobs to avoid feeling like I'm suffocating. I wore my usual size 8.

Anonymous said...

Bought these yesterday and the rise is higher...by like 3/4 inch or so? Didn't have a ruler but not really sure if the rise makes a huge difference overall...I bought it for the pocket after I turned my paper metro pass into a soggy two piece mess at NWM DC
