Multi Groovy Stripe Print Power Y Bleeds (Updated)

This is the sweat print of a Multi Groovy Stripe Power Y after a woman's run. A reader also commented yesterday how her Cool Breeze/ Multi Groovy Stripe No Limit tank had bleeding of the yellow stripes in other parts of the print. I also just read of another women having her multi groovy stripe Power Y bleed on her. If you still love this print make sure to wash it in hot water first to get rid of the excess dye.

Update - Now that I think about this a little more, the above sweat print looks like the Raspberry Glo trim is what was bleeding most on the Power Y.

Make sure to check the stripe alignment. Some are crooked.
Also, check out the direction of the stripes versus the bottom hem - they're crooked. I thought lululemon was sending people to the factories to check up on quality. Uh huh.

That color bleeding is terrible. I have a hot pink bra from last summer (not sure if it's called flash?) that STILL bleeds. I've washed it at least 30 times and even in the beginning I soaked it for a few days but the water never ran clear. It's not very faded but still bleeding. Not sure why I continue to wear it.

So disappointing. One of the first prints in awhile that has me wanting to head to my local store, and now this. When will this stop?! I just realized this week my old raspberry glow crb bled a bit on my white studio jacket. I'm so sad I could cry. It's a year old, I've washed a million times, and though there was no way this could happen. Even soaked it initially in hot water to get out excess color. Now I realize its actually blotchy in spots. Do you think I can return? I'm really more sad @ my jacket. I love that jacket and wish they hadn't reworked it like everything else great. *sigh*

Ha! Me too, Cross my Heart bra Flash still bleeds but I still love it:)

Oh no :(
Although none of my stuff that were suppose to be bleeding colours from last summer, ever actually bled. So fingers crossed!

I can't believe Lulu STILL hasn't gotten it together. What is wrong with them??

You can take it back to any retail store and they should give you store credit. Did the same thing with my " adjust me bra" in flash.

LOL!!! Crooked stripes and bleeding? Ain't nobody got time for that!

damn it all to hell. I just bought that CRB after months of not buying anything, and i will be supremely pissed if it bleeds. Maybe I should bring it back and just finally give up on Lulu for good.

LuluAddict said...

@ Katie- Raspberry Glo was known to bleed. You should be able to bring it back.

I've heard the reason lulu continues to have bleeding problems is that neon colors don't work very well on nylon.

Makes me even more convinced that I made the right choice walking out of the store with out buying the groovy stripe multi crb today. The dye bleeding is terrible.

Sucks.

If neon doesn't work on nylon, why do they keep doing it? Makes no sense at all. And if they say one more time its due to Ph problems, I may smack someone!! Such a load of crap!

OT: Does anyone know which crops/pants the model is wearing in the photos for the black daily yoga jacket and the black free to be tank? Are these new or old? They look different from the light gray bottoms that are on so many of the other product photos.

Thanks to anyone that might know!

Glad I didn't purchase the crb today as well
I have washed my headband with no bleeding issues though
But what about if and when the all sport bra is released in NA?
As for the mod moves singlet, I picked that up in raspberry glo light and the cool breeze/pizazz/power purple (which is much prettier in person than photos). I also love this tank...sized up and the straps don't fall off of me or anything :)

Of course it does. *sigh*

My Flash Tame Me Tank bled a bit on a white jacket but it washed right out. I mentioned it at a store and they said I could bring it back, but I love that color, so I'll just deal with it. Does washing in HOT water really work? I always wash my potential bleeding colors only with other might-bleed colors or with black.

I have to Raspberry Glo Lite CRB and haven't had any bleeding issues yet, and I'm wearing the Cool Breeze/Multi Groovy Stripe NLT right now. Fingers crossed for no bleeding!

I wore this tank on a 4 mile run, no color transfer noted. I washed it in hot water when I got home and the pink dye bled into the water, but pretty much cleared up after the 3rd rinse (unlike my flash tank which still bleeds to this day). So yeah, it would probably be best to wash this first before sweating in it just as a precaution.

Um. Was the woman wearing the power y dressed as a ghost- in a white sheet while running?

Seriously though, that stinks. First print I've liked for a long time.

Ugh so disappointing with the crooked stripes. I'm holding out for this crb since I've begun running. Power Y's are supportive enough. And now bleeding on top. Where's the press release to blame those Taiwanese factories again?

I have a bunch of Raspberry Glo items from last round and none of them bled at all...like I mean not even a bit. I washed them alone in the sink to see before my first wear and nada. Wonder why some do and some don't?

Ha I was told yesterday that the bleeding problem was fixed. I just purchased the pink Voyage pullover and it is going back I am afraid this will bleed too in the wash.

I called Lulu recently about several new items...falling apart. Took pics, ect...they were super nice on the phone. I ended up being emailed a gift card. They said this is what they are planning to do from now on, so GC dont have to be mailed anymore.... :)

I ordered the multi stripe y, haven't received it yet. I am not a fan of the light luon and now with the potential color bleeding issue has put a damper on receiving my lulu package. In addition I tried on three types of capris in the store and all where grossly sheer. Smh.

my Cross my Heart bra Flash was still bleeding from last year -- i got fed up and emailed lululemon and after i send it back they gave me a giftcard for that amount- i was pleasantly SURPRISED!!! (this was about a month and a half ago)

I have the Raspberry Glo Light CRB from the first release last fall and haven't experienced any bleeding issues. I did wash it by itself the first time to make sure but no bleeding has happened.

I just started buying lulu in February. I am wondering why there is so much difference in the length and fit of different colors of CRB? I have pink shell, bleached coral, pinkalicious, beach blanket blue, and frond gingham. Is this always the case? I also noticed big difference on how my different pairs of speeds, groovy runs fit. It's pretty difficult for me to get into store so I order online mostly. If any of you know the secret to figuring it out it would be much appreciated.

If the dye doesn't work on nylon now how come it did years ago, back in the eighties and nineties in all of the bright coloured leotards I had to wear?

That's a load of bull!

They just don't have their process set up properly again and they don't want to admit it.

Incidentally, with that job description posted on their website just how did Christine Day get the job? What does she know about Yoga or the product?

I think Pinkelicious bleeds too... I bought the Pinkelicious Power Flow Crops and the Pinkelicioius Heat It Up Bra, and I don't know which was the culprit, but I threw them in the wash with some other brights.. and now my Citron CRB (*sob!), my CSS Stripe CRB and my Faded Zap Tame Me Tank, as well as a few plain white non-lulu shirts, are either totally tinted pink, or they have splotches of pink on them. Not happy!

That is friggin fantastic! I saw they were introducing emailed e-gift cards! That is one thing I am happiest about Lulu on a long time! It's about time!

10:10 PM, LLA posted these instructions for bleeders last year. I think it's helpful. I don't have any bleeders. The brightest CRB's I have are the recent Pop Orange (no problems) and Wild Lime (never an issue).

http://luluaddict.blogspot.ca/2012/07/method-for-pre-washing-bleeders.html

I think LLL is done blaming the PH levels. Agree, that was bunkum and embarrassing for them. They did try to explain the whole nylon etc. may not retain well certain super bright dyes. Who knows! Other companies seem to be able to accomplish this without bleeding?

My power Y came with a sticker on the tag as a disclaimer for raspberry glo light. I don't know if they all have one because my bag had a hole in it where it looked like they attached the tag or just the sticker. Not really sure. Either way, it gave pre-wear instructions.

I have the Rasp. Glo Lite CRB from this release, as well as the groovy stripe multi bang buster. No bleeding between colors when I washed my bang buster, and I wore my Cool breeze CRB layered over the RGL one for boot camp, and even though I have a big sweat spot on my back, there was no transfer to the CB one at all. I'm planning on snagging the Multi stripe CRB and at this point, I'm not too concerned.

There is definitely a problem with the brighter, hot pink dyes LuLuLemon uses. I have a Stuff Your Bra run top that has a gray torso area and hot pink trim on the strips and bust area. The hot pink dye ran! And it's noticeable. I'm not too keen on wearing it anymore because it's certainly not something you would miss. The pink color ran at the bottom of bust line...completely obscures the fine black/white striping that comprises most of the bust area.
It's really unacceptable. And I don't want to hear anything from Lulu about offensive, varying ph levels. They are making athletic clothes. People sweat during athletic activity. If they don't, I suggest they see a doctor ASAP.

I was hoping that bleeding dye was a thing of the past, but apparently it isn't. I won't be ordering any of the new Raspberry Glo items. I thought the new Groovy Stripe pattern was very juvenile, so I based upon aesthetics, I avoided it, but if I wasn't deterred by the idea of looking like a 4 year old in my "summer clothes," the bleeding dye would certainly make my mind up for me.

These are the kind of quality issues that need to be resolved immediately. Let's hope a change of administration will mean quality, integrity, and customer service improve. For the prices LuLu commands, they better start having the quality to back up their price tags.

I bought the Multi Groovy Power Y yesterday. I've never had any bleeding problems with any lulu I own. I wld wash Multi Groovy in cold for sure.

On the subject of color bleeding, I pulled this off howstuffworks.com:

"Red and orange dyes are notoriously vulnerable to bleeding, so these colors require extra vigilance on the part of the consumer.

With modern detergents, washing clothes in hot water is not only unnecessary, but may be downright harmful. Hot water opens up the fibers in clothes to release the dye, while cold water keeps them closed, trapping the dye inside to prevent bleeding. Choosing the cold setting on your washing machine will eliminate most problems with color bleeding, and may also help clothes last longer."

no nylon can be any color check out nike and other brands that do neon over and over for years never has any bled- never! strange for sure!!!

@ Anon 11:35

After working out on the ergometer in my basement, I went upstairs and plopped down on my bed to check my email. That is the wrinkly pillowcase that I leaned on.

And @ LLA, the marks are indeed from the Raspberry Glow trim/shoulder straps.

Oh, lulu. Alas. They're still using the "ph levels in their sweat" line on the FAQ page:

"People with high alkaline levels in their sweat (we’re talking less than 2% of the population) might notice permanent colour change in raspberry glo light gear after working out".

http://www.lululemon.com/faq/

@11:35 it looks like she laid on a pillow in her power y... I did that once after a workout in a hotel and got pink stains on the sheets. :/

I really enjoy this blog but I must say that the attitudes on here sometimes amaze me. The woman with the bleeding Power Y was kind enough to warn us all of the bleeding issue. The least we could do is refrain from being sarcastic about where she was laying or what she was running in.

I just went back to the entry where bleached coral was compared to other pinks from earlier this year and was stunned at some of the comments indicating that certain age groups should not wear plaid shorts or other patterns. Stick to the fit, fabric so that the rest of us can enjoy the blog.

Thank you. And thank you LLA for putting up with us~

Hi everyone! To the commenters who have pink (namely Paris Pink I believe) pieces from last year that are bleeding- definitely take them back to your local store! I am an Educator and just recently had a guest come in with an old bra that was still bleeding (she hadn't worn it much) and we exchanged it for a new one.

And yes- the pieces with RAGL do have care instruction stickers on the tags.

I just checked my CRB in groovy multi and my stripes aren't crooked. Whew!

Polyester fabrics hold the bright dyes better than nylon. most of nike's stuff is made from polyester. The same with the 80's stuff.
I have 2 paris pink bras that still bleed as well as a pair of WUC in flare that bleed like crazy. I love the colors so much that I put up with the bleeding.

Received my groovy multi stripe y today, really love the bright colors. The bag had a rip and a sticker was added to the tag about the washing instructions and that deadly pH disease (which I have). I rinsed out the top in my white sink with cold water. The water turned a very light pink, nothing major though so I will keep the top.

Ot - I bought a pair of capris at altheta that are not see through and no ct. I am waiting for my ys capris to come, if they pass the sheer ct test I will be officially done buying lulu pants.

I just got this in the mail today and its going back. There is a vertical line that shows through completely from the built in bra. Very disappointing.
