Turn It Up Tee, Shady Lady Hat

Turn It Up Tee photos. The shirt has luxtreme sleeves and the body is made of silverescent sheer luon, as I thought. Shown with the Pace Tight.

New Shady Lady Hat. I'm in the market for a new black run hat but it needs to have a decent-sized zipper compartment. I use my zipper pockets for all sorts of things. For the Disney World Half in January I had some painkillers stored in my hat, which I ended up taking around mile ten. I might have even had extra gels up there. I've decided I hate running races with a belt so the more pockets in my clothes the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I want to see some rejuvenate hoodie pics on here. Anyone have any reviews on this item yet??

Any reviews on the frond gingham boogie shorts or anyone seen them in person? I want to order but they look extra extra tiny. The hemming along the thigh looks uneven online. Is it the gingham playing tricks on my eye or will the fabric really not lay flat for a smooth edge? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The hat is ugly.

LuluAddict said...

@anon9:57pm - the hat looks like a pretty generic run hat to me. Maybe blah, but not ugly.

Anonymous said...

No, it's ugly! If you tip it back on her head a bit it might look like a baby bonnet...he, he, he!

A friend of mine tried on the frond rejuvenate hoodie and she passed because she said it gathered weird across her upper chest. It didn't lay smooth.

I got this this hat the other night at the Studio City store. Had I known there'd be a Pop Orange color, I'd have held out for that instead of black. The brim starts at the sides of my temples which I liked. The top and back of the hat has these pretty flower eyelet shaped openings for venting purposes I'm assuming. When I put it on, it made my head/face look good instead of making my face look even rounder/fatter which is normally what happens. Perhaps b/c it starts on the sides of my temples? When on, the opening allows for my ponytail to come out comfortably. This is my first hat so I don't have anything to compare it too. I didn't know hats could have pockets!! Thanks LLA. I can see how that'd come in very handy. I'm def using all my pockets in my clothes in my run training.

Holy Cow! I just scored a black define jacket on WMTM!! They only have 12s left, but I usually size up to that in Defines anyway. So glad I decided to return those horribly sheer black E&F pants last night do I don't have to feel guilty about this purchase!!

Anonymous said...

Sorry but the hat looks like something an old lady would wear. The brim is too wide aging the woman wearing it IMO.

I'm so excited to hit the store today and try all the new stuff on.
Loooove the Turn It Up Tee. I love the Devotion SS, and this looks like it's made more for sweating, so WIN if that's the case!

The Pace Tight in that picture seems quite high in the rise.. Not sure how I feel about that. I like the high rise when it can be flipped down (I have an old pair of LLL yoga pants that do that, and look forward to trying on the Invert Crop for that reason) but when they don't do that, I feel like it's just a bunch of extra material around the tummy. I guess it's good for lower tummy pooches? No idea.

I think I may need to give in to the running-in-a-hat trend now that I'm in Florida.. It was never an issue in Seattle, but that's because I ran more in ran than in sunshine!

I don't think the hat is "ugly" but something about the shape of it seems off to me. I have no Lulu hats as they always seem to slightly miss the mark IMO. I guess that I prefer a more classic ball cap shape.

Oh, I am sad, all the Run for Your Life crops are on markdown. This means they are probably all being discontinued :( I never did get a pair of the inkwells and now they are pretty much all sold out. BOOOOOO to that. I was lucky enough to get the blue space dye, beaming blue and alberta lake before they sold out, so I should just be happy about that, right?

That hat looks too much like a bonnet for my taste. I agree though it's nice skipping the belt on race days, and stashing extra supplies in the clothing.

as some have mentioned: major WMTM upload!

Anonymous said...

i want to get the run bundle jacket on wmtm but am afraid they will mark it down again further so i am torn. sigh.

Anonymous said...

The hat looks tacky to me with the flower cut-outs. Yuck !

Anonymous said...

I haven't bought from WMTM in about 2 years!!! it's all the garbage stuff, for the most part, that no one wants! :((( LOL (Esp. In Canda, it's always picked over and the smaller sizes always seem to be gone!) SOOO bla!

Anonymous said...

I had the exact same dilemma. I ended up getting the black. I'm mentally prepared that they may mark it down further. But I've been eyeing the black since it first came out.... I have the silver & polar cream already & wear it often. I'm tempted by the draft dodger jacket but I am gonna take my chances on that to see if it gets marked down more. Oh the mind games of lulu shopping ....

Anonymous said...

Me too!! I caved- been waiting so long for the markdown and just wanted to move on!!

Hi Ladies
Mini try on report...

For reference I am generally a size 6 lulu, 4 wunder unders, 8 jackets. I am 5'7" 138 lbs with small shoulders, any extra weight around my mid-section.

Pace shorts - I sized down to the 4 and they were really nice! I love the waistband (its like an astro waistband), no muffin top and I am prone to that. I didn't get them because I didn't think I would get a lot of wear out of the bleached coral and I already have black speeds. If you are bigger in the thigh area than waist I would stick TTS.

Pace crops - sized up to an 8. This is my first pair of crops in an 8 not a 6. The 8 gave no muffin top and felt good on the legs but may fall down a bit during a run. I have lots of othere crops I can wear running but thought these are perfect for weight lifting. They fit a lot like the RFYL which I love but I actually liked the fit of these better. Brought them home in bleached coral.

Mini try on report part 2

Tried on the bleached coral/dune/black long sleeve. I prefered the 8 over the 6 for room accross the stomach, and the 6 pulled funny behind the arms. It was thinner than the winter weight rulu LS shirts but still nice. Long and straight hemmed. I only didn't buy this one because I have so many LS.

Rise and Shine pullover - didn't like the fit of this one, was very thin, tight around the middle, pulled at the shoulders and didn't like the collar. Sizing up didn't help either, fit was tighter than the LS.

Warm up crew in bleached coral - surprisingly loved this and brought home in a 6. Wasn't too short on me, covered the waistband of my crops and will be perfect with a CRB underneath as well as just fine on its own. Was just so different looking from all the pullovers and LS that I own, plus the colour made me happy :)

Sorry for such a long comment but hope this helps!

Yep, I have to concur with many of the comments. That hat is ugly.

Can't remember, is the herringbone U-Turn a size up item?

Anonymous said...

anon 9:41 am - Exactly! I love that you said you mentally prepared - I did the same. why can't lulu just offer price adjustments like every other co?? it drives me crazy!

Anonymous said...

I kind of like the hat. Baseball hate do nothing for my face and make me look mannish...thinking this might be more flattering. Maybe it will go to WMTM with the rest of the garbage that no one likes and I can get it at a bargain, haha. (Rolling my eyes at that snotty comment!!)

Anonymous said...

DRAFT DODGER in WMTM! I've been WAITING for that to happen :) Very excited here! Bought it as soon as I saw. I am REALLY REALLY SAD that the defines went on wmtm and I missed out on my size :( Only small sizes in Canada left, and I mean like 2s and 4s... which I am not... that was the thing about the defines- whether you were a 2, a 4, or a 10 like myself- it looked good on everyone.

Anonymous said...

If I somehow come across a time machine I am going to go back a few years and load up on thick, awesome feeling, diamond-gusset WUs and wraps. :)

Anonymous said...

agreed 2:40 on the snotty comment by the person who says wmtm is 'garbage'.

While it's true some less attractive items end up in wmtm; excellent, classic items in desirable colours and designs do go to wmtm, including Canada's wmtm. And yes, in smaller sizes 2-6.

I can't stand people that come on here and just say mean and rude stuff. Seriously, those of you that are trolls and toxic, just go away.

Sandra said...

You took the words out of my mouth! It does look like a bonnet... Not a good look IMO.

Sandra said...

If you get a baseball cap made for women, the brim is slender and feminine it shouldn't make you look man-ish, I think women look great in baseball hats given the brim is not over whelming.

Has anyone experienced any problems with their return since they switched to the flat rate? According to Fedex my returns were delivered on 2/5, but I still have yet to see a refund or my account updated to reflect the return. They are taking longer to process my return then they even allow us to keep items eligible for return!

Anonymous said...

Looks like those hats that tourists wear in NYC

Anonymous said...

well.. functionally for sun protection a wide brim is better than a "slender and feminine brim."

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 9:57 pm - I agree. I had hats with tiny brims. They are useless.

Anonymous said...

@zipper02: I had the same issue you did. My return was received on 2/04, and I didn't get my refund til this Tuesday. I suggest you call them and ask because apparently my order was marked as return, but it wasn't actually processed. It's the first time something like this has happened because my past returns have gone smoothly, so maybe it was something with the system. Whatever it is, I'd definitely give them a call because it's suppose to only take 5-7 business days.

Wow....Ive posted several helpful comments/suggestions regarding Aritzia as I just picked up some of their clothes for an alternative and you NEVER publish my comments! My guess is you are either getting paid or getting free Lulu to endorse them. :( (I have now left 3 comments about Aritzia and never published!)

Aramina said...

From a runner perspective I think the bonnet factor of the hat looks functional. I appreciate the wrapping around of the visor as it offers more shade. Lulu's hats are almost always made for child size heads though so I am not holding out hope.

LuluAddict said...

@anon 3:46 am - I call BS. Your comments are extremely inauthentic, I've never had a single person be so enthused about another brand before. So, if Aritizia wants placement on this blog I suggest they contact me about buying ad space.

Jen said...

Well played LLA, well played. :)

Anonymous said...

Based on the comments I've read, I suspect the Aritzia superfan is disposable income girl. Comments from both parties are written in a very distinct pattern, with heavy use of all caps emphasis words, excessive ... Use in the middle of run on sentences, as well as consistent emphatic opinions about this or that. If disposable income girl is not in fact the Aritzia superfan, I have to wonder why 2 people with seemingly serious disdain for lulu continue to obsessively check a blog (commenting on most posts) dedicated to a product they have no use for?

Anonymous said...

For those of you ordering the run bundle up reflective, are you sizing up? I would have sized up for the other bundle up but remember the reflective being roomier. I just cant remember how much roomier. I am typically a 4, a 6 in the other bundle up. I know I tried the 6 in the store, but never a 4. My hustle is a 6 and it's too big. Any suggestions?

Anonymous said...

Aritzia is not a replacement technical brand anyway- what's up with that chick? Good call on not posting them if you aren't LLA- it's annoying to see on here all the time.

Anonymous said...

@ LLA- it's obvious that you DON'T get paid by Lulu!!! Your reviews and opinions always appear to be true to yourself. When things bleed or fall apart, you provide full disclosure here. When things are ridiculous (um.., Amuse Me pants?!), you call it as you see it. But when Lulu does things right, they are oh-so-right! And, you tell us about that too. Isn't that why we're all here... To talk about Lulu? I'm all for hearing about alternative brands, but I don't want to read comment after comment about some other company. I'm a Lulu addict, afterall.
Speaking of, anyone ever heard of "Ellie" athletic wear? I just got an email about it today.

Anonymous said...

@ 1:09 pm Ummm...I wouldn't ask about any other brand(s) or make any other suggestions referring to any other brands, that you've tried! Not a good idea, if you know what I mean!? Seriously, we are all just talking about clothes here--not the end of the world! Don't forget, this is only...a clothing blog!

Anonymous said...

I've always been a big fan of Aritzia for regular clothes but I would never wear their "athletic" wear for working out. It's not their forte and never has been.

Anonymous said...

They do have cute hoodies right now.... Oops sorry:) I still love Lulu more through the good and bad times. LOVE this blog and people should show some respect to LLA!

Anonymous said...

@11:44 You are not the only one that thinks that!!! And definitely agree with you.

Also, nice play on the comment LLA!

Anonymous said...

I agree! It's totally disposable income girl! That was my first reaction/thought!!!!!

"Disp. Income Girl" has definitely been on this board being a fangirl of Aritzia and the posts are probably hers. She's completely irritating. I agree with another's comment that the TNA stuff by Aritizia is OK but is in no way on par with LLL.

As for other brands being discussed here, if you go back through the archives of the blog, yes indeed other brands have been discussed and promoted by other shoppers at length: Splits 59, Kira Grace, Prana, Sweaty Betty, Athleta etc. So it's not a sin to offer your opinion and experience on those brands. LLA has for sure been very generous with allowing people to share their experiences with other brands. LLA didn't publish the person's Aritizia comments, I gather, because the posts sound as if written by someone who is a plant. I doubt Aritzia has time for that, but I bet you "Disp. Income Girl" does, since she's always annoyingly on about her money and high end brands (and Aritzia sells high end/designer clothes in its stores, TNA is the least of what it has to offer) and how much she seems to hate LLL. Regardless of how much you have it is in poor taste and shallow to brag as that one does. And if you hate LLL so much, why are you on here?

Whenever I see "Disp. IG" I think "dyspepsia" as in indigestion, because she is that irritating.

Sorry for the rant, but she had it coming.

Who cares....who made reviews about Athleta, Aritzia, Zella, ect? Im always telling my husband how women are so petty! on here. I come to this blog, maybe once every couple of weeks? The other night, my hubby asked me why I don't let myself have more women friends and I told him about some of the awful comments made on here. I actually showed him and he was like "Oh wow!" Some of you are so petty, it's sad. I use to love reading this blog for suggestions and ideas-now, not so much. -Jess

Anon 1:09 - I have tried Ellie and its gotten a bad rap because of the switch from pvbody but I actually like it. I received the blue crops, for $25 they are awesome, not exactly old lulu quality but they haven't pilled or unthreaded in this past month like some of my lulu crops have. I guess these days I'm tired of lulu pant quality. The only pants I still buy full price and havent regretted are the lined studio pant, i got 2 black swan and polar cream and don't feel bad paying $118 for a pair of quality lulu. Yesterday I got two tops mailed from ellie and am exchanging from L to medium. I wear a size 8 in lulu if that helps. Basically it's similar enough quality to new lulu that I think it's awesome I can get 2 items for $50. That being said, I still love lulu technical items, bags, and outerwear, I swear by all swiftly & CRB, DHBH pullover, vinyasa scarf, most of the cycling gear (because its so cute compared to REI items).

Can anyone comment on the difference between the turn it up tee and the not so basic gym tee? I had to size down in the nsbg tee, also wondering if its less sheer or the same. Thanks ladies!

Hi everyone! I own one pair of tna action crops in a "heathered coal" color and a pair of black shorts. They both do the job of wicking away moisture; the material is a cross between luon and Luxtreme. I have had both items for three years and have not had any pilling. Anyways, I don't get CT, but there is no special gusset (straight seams). Anyways, I agree that tna/aritzia is not a true athletic apparel, but their few items that are 1. Cheaper than lululemon 2. Do their job of wicking away moisture 3. No CT are definitely worth a try if you have access to a store :).

I also checked out gap fit wear and the quality seems ok. I am in Vancouver, bc and checked out oakridge mall. They don't have the e&f copy cats yet, as someone mentioned on a previous post (probably someone from the states?). Anyway, the salesperson said their items are made in the same factory as lululemon.

Also, I got my smurf crops (beaming blue :)) at the outlet the other day..they were having additional $10 off on all their items. And if you live in vancover, they have Astros in the limitless blue for $39, if anyone is interested.
