I am really loving the Reflect Pullover....I just wish it wasn't $118. :-(

You know....Lulu got my $$$$ for well over 13 years and I was a DIE HARD fan! Like so die hard, I spent as much as $1600 in a month a couple of times. Now, Im so bored with the things coming out and not loving the colour combos either or the quality, that even if the item I want is in WMTM....for $39 Im still passing!!! It's like meh...whatever, Im over you Lulu. I read about upset customers and how they are being treated, on their FB Page and that fuels my fire even more. There isn't that 911 emergency for me to buy from Lulu anymore. It's like, "Ohhhh I love that shirt, I want it" and then I read something about Lulu refusing to exchange something 2 days after the deadline, to someone with cancer and I just can't pull the trigger and buy from a company like this. If I just read the odd complaint, OK, fine...but their FB Page is riddled with angry, mistreated customers. I see that and my heart tells me, "spend your money elsewhere!" I call the GEC about a little issue and they make it a BIG ISSUE and refuse to give good customer service! Seems to me, these days Lulu has fewer and fewer redeeming qualities..... I use to love everything about Lulu and now the more I read and see, the more, Im less likely to support this brand. It's a sad sad day, when you stop buying from Lulu. They would have to change A LOT for me to make a come back.

Hold on, refusing an exchange 2 days after their already very limited return policy for someone with cancer?! Oh my, where is their humanity? Absolutely heartbreaking.

@anon 12:28...I hear you. I have been a crazed LLL fan for about 8 years, and I have bought like 3 things in the last 9 months. Like you, I used to buy EVERYTHING. I'd go in the store and literally couldn't find anything to buy b/c I already owned everything. It was a little embarrassing. Now I can't find anything good. The fabrics are sheer, the stitching is poor, and the designs are ugly and look too young for me. (I'm 31.)
That's the main reason I don't buy, but the fact that the customer service sucks so bad just makes me upset. I have really been liking Athleta, Splits 59, and I'm going to try out Sweaty Betty.

I agree with the comments on customer service. I wanted to pick up the Flip But No Flop tank for my trainer for her birthday. I stopped by LuLu and they didn't have a size 4. There is another Lulu about 40 mins away so I asked if they could check and see if the other store had it. I was told NO. I would have to call the store myself. I did and I got a recording that the other store doesn't answer the phone but someone would return my call in 24 hrs! What good was that going to do me ? I considered driving to the other store and ended up going to Nordstrom and getting her a super cute teal duffle bag.

Ok, I received my flare wunder under crops today and let me tell you, they are way brighter than the online photos! The are NEON orange, like reflective safety vest color. I'm not sure I'll start wearing these until Spring/Summer. The top photo on this post shows the brightness, every previous photo did not do the brightness justice.

Oh I know....it's awful 1:26 pm and 1:33pm. I use to also jump every time I saw something I wanted that went to WMTM and now I pass! A don't live near a Lulu, but a few months ago, I ventured into a Lulu and as I was paying for a pair of pants, I nicely remarked to the girl, how I wish I had bought the pants a week earlier, as they had just gone up in price. The girls face went all SOUR...and she rolled her eyes at me and turned completely snotty!! It was SO BAD, it was shocking!! I even asked another gal in the store, some greeter at the door, if they carried a certain bra I as looking for and she didn't want to help me or wait on me....she said, "if we have it, it will be where the bras are" and she didn't even MOVE from where she was posted!!! LOL... Im guessing it was "more important" to stand there and be useless, greeting customers with her fake welcome! LOL... In hard, economic times, I don't know HOW Lulu can even afford to hurt or pi$$ off many of its loyal customers. The third girl I spoke with in the store, was a real sweetheart and was a real GEM, but it sure didn't make up for the 2 ignorant "educators" I spoke with. This was at the Halifax store. (Canada) When I pay a lot for something, I want the item to be gorgeous, well made, good quality AND I want friendly staff answering all my necc. Questions! The more I read on Lulus FB Page, the more I know Ive made the right decisions to spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere! Who wants to spend money at a store, where some of the staff can't even be NICE?! who wants to shell out hard earned dollars, when they ask for a mere price adjustment on an item they bought online, just 6 hrs ago, that went to WMTM. and if it was just me...they didn't like, well then how come Im reading about 200 other people having the same issues. Why would I come to Lulu and spend $118, plus taxes, to have a rude educator act all snotty because I happened to mention that those pants just went up in price. If this continues, their whole list of problems...people seem to be having, then at some point, Lululemon is going to be a sinking ship! I will be gone, because Lululemon will have lost me!! (And I won't care)

Meh. It's all ugly or boring. And generally overpriced.

I have to say, the summer colors were so much fun, I know some people hated neons... I haven't purchased anything since the beaming blue swiftly because the colors are just kind of boring. I like mint moment but if your complexion is olive yellow, it will make you look sick unless you put some blush on or something. I think flare looks like a construction orange and am not a fan as much as I tried to like it, it screams "construction" to me. As for inkwell, it's ok not something I would get excited about. It's been super boring releases latetly... I have a gift card I can't use... Nothing is making me interested :(

This is one of the MANY many complaints Ive read off Lulus FB page, but by far....I seriously, thought that this one, was pretty awful: (if you already haven't seen this)
Mary Jane Mullan
Today, my best friend went to the store on El Paseo in Palm Desert. She needed to return an outfit (one of three for over $1000) that one of her grandaughters did not like. She was 2 or 3 days past her sales-slip deadline---but she had the slip...They would not give her a credit because she was past the 30 day return policy....they would not give her a store credit for the amount she paid because the merchandise was now on sale....I said, "Cut a girl some slack, she has lung cancer." (She is sick everyday because of her chemo) They would not do a thing---I say go somewhere wlse to shop...a store with heart.....

WOW...Im sorry, but in my books, it doesn't get any lower than that! I use to LOVE Lulu, but how can I continue to remain loyal to a company that treats its customers in such a poor, sickening manner!?

Yeh i can relate to both of you i too used to buy buy buy now can't find anything- the new super curved hemlines and too short for tops and the awefull colors! Wow and i bet they will blame their poor sales on the economy! What a perfect scape goat for the goat thats running the show C.DAY, boy she's a real winner- not!!!!

I don't understand why everyone is bent out of shape that lululemon is sticking to their return policy. I understand that the person has cancer and im very sorry for that... But rules aren't made just to be broken, and it's clearly stated on the bottom of the receipt that you have two weeks! As buyers we assume the responsibility to be aware of return/exchange policies if we aren't sure about a purchase. Now I imagine if I were that salesperson and it were abundantly obvious that someone had cancer I'd probably just let it go as a one time thing... But did the salesperson know that? Why about the person who's next in line who has the same issue and is angry that the rule isn't broken for them too? I dunno it just seems like people are making lulu sound like villains when really buyers need to be more concious of their purchases. Rant over.

Stock reports are saying growth is considered to go down this year, especially with older more mature stores that have loyal customers and are not going to be able to recruit new customers. Well here's the deal LLL- so what? Stop trying to grow and enjoy your billions of dollars in profit you get from regular loyal customers- or they will leave and are if I read correctly what's going on....

I just received my first order from Sweaty Betty - love them but for me ran about a half size too big, more on tops than bottoms though. For baggier designs I would size down. Return / exchange policy is surprisingly very simple, comes with prepaid return mailing label you just drop off at UPS. You can even re-use the bag it came in!

OT. I am still having a lot of bleeding problems. My mint moment back on track tank bleed on itself and it won't come off in the wash so it's ruined. My raspberry glow back on track tank also bled but most of it washed out. The water was bright pink. My mint moment no limits tank had colour run onto the waist band. I am not sure if this came from the black waist band of my turbo shorts or the bra of the top. I wore my love red free to be bra last week and the water was pink when I washed it. I wore my sea wheeze spry blue striped tank over it and now it has a red mark I can't get out. My pow pink no limits tank still turns the water bright pink every time I wash it so the bra looks really heathered from so much color running out. It's hot in Australia at present. I usually run in 30C/86F so I sweat a lot and obviously don't have a pH that is immune to colour bleeding. Perhaps the reason the bleeding problems have improved in North America is because it's less hot so you aren't sweating as much. I usually run from work at lunch time so my clothes have to sit in my bag until I get home. I'm sure if I try to return my back on track top I will get blamed for not washing it straight away. I have done the same thing with my Nike clothes for years with no issues.

@anon 12:28, so well said, you have summarized precisely how i feel at LLL. i've heard in store sales are also down, i think it is as much the customer service and arrogance of the company as it is the designs and poor quality. i have been buying lululemon for about 9+ years and have enough to literally open my own store - use to love going into the stores, now it's sort of a drag. i think they are being told to be a little more flexible - but i can't help feeling it's too little too late.

Anybody tried the wunder under *silver? The online reviews are awful. But I really want an inkwell pair of WUC. Any hope that they will come in regular WUC?

None of this appeals to me. Pass on it all and looking at other brands.

@ anon 2:44 pm - I agree. I liked the summer brights, bordeaux drama, and lake. I like Pink Shell for the two CRBs and a LS Swiftly but am not interested in much. I really like the Pump It up jacket and it was a mistake not to put this on line. Other than the spring has sprung floral bangbuster I don't care for anything out right now. Lulu is killing their yoga line by not putting anything new out. The Power Up tank is just meh. I'm tired of the 50 versions of the Back on Track tank. I'm just waiting for something I like. Or not. I'm up to something like 30-something CRBs now and 80+ tanks so don't have to buy anything new unless it really tickles me. And, nothing has. The flare/inkwell combo is obnoxious.

Agree, they are really losing me. It's just a "perfect storm" now. Majority of stuff is too juvenile and/or ugly, deteriorating or crap quality (sheerness, sticking, threads, finishing), increasing prices or definitely overpriced, or sneaky additional price drops for boxing day wmtm 3 days later, and overriding experiences/stories of abysmal customer service. So, losing loyal customers, let me count the ways.

I'm still content to be a loyal customer if they would make some quality, good looking stuff again. The items are few and far between. I'm dying for a a new, classic, knee length yoga crop, mid-low rise fitted to the knee, that is not a WU or an Astro. I wish they would bring the Dignity crop back! I even tried to buy the Strike Tight in store and they don't have it! I want to try it on first, not order from the site and the potential of a return. It's not worth my effort or time.

@ 2:53 PM, WOW! Absolutely Wow, it does not get much worse than that!!!

It has got to be the store itself. They can make exceptions and some stores do.

Myself, I returned a shirt recently (sprung a pinhole, worn twice and my stuff is well taken care of). I bought it during boxing week so it was reduced. Was offered a gift card but imo, as it was quality, I was due a refund (and no more of the shirt in store, so couldn't replace). I simply asked and it was not an issue. No hassle, no drama.

@ anon, 5:41 i did try the inkwell WU crops (silver) the silver makes them feel very tight (you need to size up) but also the fabric feels almost spongy. i ended up getting the astro WU crops - they were perfect and inkwell is a great color!

@ 3:19 PM Get a clue and read the post again: the friend DID speak up in store!!

The lady has cancer and is doing chemo! She's supposed to keep track of return date?! Obviously you have no compassion, period, to voice your stupid rant. Clearly you've never been exposed to someone dealing with cancer and going through cancer AND have not even bothered to inform yourself, even if you are bereft of compassion.

Saw the new colors today and nothing was impressive. I like the new inkwell will pants and the IQ 7/8 tights but not enough to fork over $$$. What I DID get to try on again was the dodge drafter jacket in my size and solidified my love for that jacket. It definitely was a return and they had marked it down to $169! With a $20 gc, sold :) agree that flare is too orangey. No thanks.

I'd just like a new pair of WUC in the old Luon from 2-3 years ago. Thick fabric, no sheerness or shine, no pilling and tight stitching. You'd think that for $80 cropped tights that wouldn't be too much to ask.
Oh, and I'd also really like some new Inspires with the old waistband and good quality Luxtreme.
That is all.

Other than the uba SE, nothing looks even remotely interesting. I've been looking at Athleta a lot recently and have been very very happy. I recently bought two pairs of pants on sale from Athleta that just went down in price today, so I called (within the 14 day price adjustment policy) and within 30 seconds both my items were adjusted and $25+taxes was credited back to me with absolutely no questions asked and happily done. I also recently returned a jacket that I had purchased back in JULY that just never really worked for me. I was refunded with no questions asked. And it was free return shipping! With service like that, it truly encourages me to look there for my technical and casual wear. If lulu followed their lead, if only in extending their return policy and price adjustment policy and getting rid of the crazy final sale policy on WMTM items then maybe I'd be more likely to buy more frivolously. But at this point, I'm happily looking elsewhere.

For the record, your reply is possibly the rudest one I've read on this blog and I've been reading daily for over a year.

I for one, agree with anon 3:18. Is it unfortunate that the lady is sick? Absolutely. But do I think the salesperson was wrong to deny the return? No. That was an expensive purchase and I for one wouldn't want to potentially lose my job for violating the return policy rules. I've worked in retail for many years and yes, people do get fired for offering returns "willy nilly" in some cases. I am sad that it played out for that lady the way it did, but the reality of the world is that people with illnesses aren't exempt from the rules of society. They still gotta pay for their own food and housing... and return things on time. It's not fair, and it sucks that it works that way. Maybe the girl could havE consulted the manager to see if an exception could have been made, but otherwise i don't see anythig wrong with her actions (presuming she was polite and remorseful as all retailers should be when they can't comply to a clients wishes).

Anonymous said...

I agree with anon 7:59. Well said. Both my parents have cancer and have been on chemo for the last 4 years - I know how sick they can be. But never once have I/we ever expect anyone to "cut (us) some slack". It is sad and unfortunate that people have health/mental/etc. issues, but society doesn't owe anything to them. It has nothing to do with not being compassionate, the girl was just doing her job. I think it also depends on the store too because I have been able to take back items that are weeks passed the return period and they have no problem taking them back (given that the item is still on the floor, not on sale). It doesn't hurt to ask but if they say no, then I am ok with it since that's their policy and it's clearly stated on the receipt. The girls at my local store are really nice, friendly and eager to help - and I am having a good time spending my money there.

Anonymous said...

Compassion much? Rude.

Anonymous 3:19 said...

Thank you anonymous 7:59!!! I'm glad you can see that I'm just looking at the situation with a more logical perspective.
A. I was posting from my phone and unable to see the post with the actual story about the return incident (thought that was pretty clear when I admitted my lack of knowledge for the details.)
B. I lost my grandfather to leukemia and was there through every step of his chemo, not to mention that I'm probably one of the most nurturing, compassionate people I know.
I feel terrible that she has cancer.... And I wish her the best... But again the rules apply to everyone. Like I said if you break the rules for one person, then you better be ready to do it for everyone else. I always take the time to educate myself about return/exchange policies if I'm unsure about a purchase. At this point I feel a sense of COMPASSION for the poor girl at lululemon who has to feel bad turning down someone with cancer out of fear of losing her job.

I can also attest to Athleta' awesome customer service re: price adjustments. Twice an item I purchased was discounted, and I called and the rep was like, wow that is a great new price, I will refund the difference right away. I have probably called Athleta 5-6 times and every single time, they are pleasant and happy to talk to me. Not sure if they are being paid better or if their company policies just enable them to make customers happy, but I am a huge fan. Some of their stuff might look a bit "mature" but they also have many, many styles with a classic look that customers won't tire of quickly.

I've posted this before re: athleta but it bears posting again (maybe in the hopes that LL will learn something!). I bought a pull over from them last year sometime and it pilled, much like many of LL items do. I didn't bother to complain to customer service bc I didn't really think it would make any difference and I had worn it multiple times. Long story short, out of the blue a few moths later, they sent everyone who bought the pull over a FULL REFUND (or the option to have the redesigned version shipped to them) bc their customers had complained about pilling issues. Enclosed was a note about their quality stance and an apology for the malfunction. LL take note! That is how you win fans.

One time, I had $98 pants I bought from Lulu. I don't have a lulu in my province. Got them home, washed them ONCE and the whole seam in the bum, was unravelling! A month has passed...I called the store, was told the next time I was in, they would fix on the spot for me! I advised them I would be in the store early Sat. Morning....in 1 week and she was fine with that. Got to the store early that Sat, and she takes my pants out back and then comes and tells me, she cannot get it fixed on the spot (even tho I was told this) and says, they will be fixed in ONE WEEK! She then explains I must pay $15 to have them shipped back to my province. LOL... Well...I was NOT pleased at all and explained these were $100 pants!! they looked in the computer and my pants in 1 month, went on sale, so they would give me an exchange for the new sale price of the pants. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE at the store I was at! Lululemon would rather give me something else, then fix their clothes that are falling apart. I felt it should have been their responsibility to pay and have my pants fixed and shipped back to me, not ME paying the shipping for their defective product. Anyways, with an experience like that...it made me feel unappreciated as a customer, so YES, Ive been spending A LOT less at Lululemon. that sense of "urgency" to buy from Lulu is Looong gone! I don't feel a need to continue to be LOYAL to a company that truly doesn't care about its customers! They say one thing and then do another thing and when you bring up that you were told something completely different by such and such (name) they aren't even accountable for what they previously said! LOL... I don't LOVE everything the GAP sells, however I will say, they have excellent customer service, both in-store and over the phone. I don't know how long, Lululemon can keep up with driving their loyal customers away??? Ive met some wonderful sales girls at Lulu, but there are always a few that ruin the experience! I use to buy from Lulu 95% of the time and now Im down to 30% of the time--in just two years, that's where Im at right now.

@jen - i actually really really like the silver WU. i bought the black crops, the black pants, and the inkwell crops. they do feel tighter, but not like they're too small...more like they're a bit compressive. i like the feeling of them really hugging my legs. i didn't size up - and i find it's usually hit or miss with WU...sometimes I stay with my TTS, and sometimes i size up - these i stayed TTS. the legs may feeli a bit tight when pulling them on, but once you've got them up and on, they fit normally. i'd say give em a shot (:

at 8:14 a.m. - Wow. That is some customer service experience. A refund and a letter of apology?? Don't really shop at Athleta, as there is not a store near me, but the more I read about their service, the more i'm tempted into pulling the trigger on a website purchase.

Makes me almost embarrassed to have to put up with Lulu's level of service. Thank goodness I'm surrounded by plenty of choices in my 'hood - Niketown, Stella McCartney Adidas store, North Face, Patagonia, and a new SA Elite store down the block.

I went into Lululemon, and the store was quiet. I had picked out about seven items to try on. When I had finished, I came out and a large lineup for the changerooms had formed. When I came out, the girl at the change rooms told me "there's a seven-minute time limit in the rooms." I'm sorry, but if I'm spending hundreds of dollars on your clothes, I'm going to make sure I like the stuff first. Most of the time in the changeroom is spent peeling off all my winter layers before I can even get started trying stuff on! I couldn't have taken more than ten minutes total. When you actually ask them for another size in an item (like they TELL you to when you go in the change room) they act really annoyed.

Anonymous said...

Rules!? Apparently lulu has the ability to bend the rules when they feel like it; ie boxing day fiasco. Some people reported getting a gift card for the difference when prices dropped a second time, others, like myself, we're not so fortunate. So, it can happen. As for your offering a more logical perspective, you lost me there....

Anom 12:53, definitely look into Athleta. With free shipping over $50 and free returns anytime, it's worth a look. :) I don't always love everything they offer, but they have a wide variety so there is often something that catches my eye. And, the they offer petite, tall, and plus sizes many items, which is great too!

Anonymous said...

Has anyone mentioned that Athleta will accept returns of worn items? They encourage you to try out the item and if you don't like it, they will take it back. No question asked! The free return is awesome - the only minor problem I have with them is free shipping takes 10 days to my state.

Anonymous said...

Anyone who owns a business or has any kind of background in business would understand the reasoning behind return deadlines and why, as a business, you stick to and follow the rules. It has nothing to do with compassion or lack of.. Plain and simple.

Anonymous said...

I actually think it is a good thing for the return policy to be somewhat strict. just from reading this blog, many people just buy things on a whim not thinking the impact that the whole return process makes.
I always make sure that I really think through my purchases before paying for them, especially if I purchased them online since the packages have to be driven to and from a warehouse, as well as unpacked checked and re- stoked and if they are not in great shape possibly discarded, or hopefully re-cycled. I don't think places like Athleta think about environmental impact. The gap is well known for finding the cheapest most efficient way to do business. Their stuff falls apart easy, and is so overproduced, that you go in a yoga class and everyone is wearing the same Athleta crops. I think the short deadlines teach us to be a little more aware of our consuming habits.

M
