Spring/Summer 2013 Pantone and the 2013 Sea Wheeze Palette - Right On Trend

It looks like Sea Wheeze 2013 will be right on trend with the Spring/Summer 2013 color palette forecast. Dang! I filled my closet with bright colors from last spring and summer. I'm not as into the muteds.

Not going to lie, I love love love these colors. Sooooo over neons and brights!!! These are beautiful.

Question--where did you see the color palette? Are these the names/actual colors we can be expecting or were these just their "inspiration"?

The monaco blue, african violet, and grayed jade are nice. I like that LLL is staying on trend with Pantone- smart. But since the race is in the summer, I'd think they'd go with summer colors instead of spring ones. IMHO.

@ anon 11:06 am - The names are the Pantone names not the lulu ones.

I love these muted colors. Really excited for the two different blues. especially Monaco Blue, I love navy, and the Lemon Zest and Greyed Jade color. Love love!!

The Monaco Blue and Nectarine have been the spring colour combo for the past three springs now. I was sure after it was EVERYwhere this past spring something differenct would come along! (The pink is too close to my skin colour, so I can't wear it at all)

ugh, they picked the worst of the colors! it would have been great to have poppy red, african violet, emerald green.....

and why are they using SPRING colors for a SUMMER race?

Finally, colors for grown-ups.

just to clarify that these arent seawheeze colours but SS13 colours in general?

I like those colours, I much prefer them to the bights we've been having.

This is a nice change. For a while they were releasing the same colors over and over and over, only ever so slightly different. Paris pink, pow pink, flash, raspberry glo.... Kinda over it.

Gorgeous colors! Loving the greens/blue/orange.

I'm sure companies, especially companies like lululemon get their inspiration from somewhere. They don't pull out ideas such as seasonal colour palettes out of no where. It doesn't matter what they choose for colours, you people will always find something to complain about or dislike. As soon as this post was posted about them being right on trend with colours, you're all ooh ahh, I like these muted colours. YIKES people! If you had all these bright ideas and what would make clothing sell, then do it!

@ anon 2:37 pm - lol, so true.

Whatever happened to sprey blue? I really was excited about that one!

LOVE these colours, if the designs improve in 2013 I expect some heavy spending is in my future. I am a Pisces and totally drawn to pastels & neutrals!!

@anon at 2:37 -- Calllllmmmm down. This is a place for Lulu-addicts to come together and discuss all aspects of Lululemon...the good, the bad, & the ugly. It's nothing to take so personally...unless perhaps you are a Lulu employee? If you don't like the discussion in the comments then you don't have to read them. Namaste. Lolol

@ anon 3:18 p - good question. Now Surge blue has shown up in the Scuba STretch hoodies.

Surge Blue Scuba was only on the USA upload - unless it sold out of the CDN upload crazy fast.

I sure hope the GREENS make an appearance!

What is Pantone?

Speaking as a very, very pale skinned person- I'm thrilled with the pastels. And the pretty, different palette.

On the race gear: Interesting. I do think that the race shorts, tee, tank, whatever, would do well to have Sea Wheeze or Sea Wheeze 2013 on it. But on the rest of the Sea Wheeze merch? I'm not so sure. I'd prefer to hang on to my colours longer term rather than having a stamp of 2013 all over it.

It will be very interesting to see what direction they go down with the Sea Wheeze 2013 gear, whether it turns it into a running community "destination race" taken quite seriously or, Lulu cementing their place in the run market.

@ anon 6:38 pm - Agree. They only need a few items to say "Sea Wheeze, Vancouver 2013" on it - CRB, Swiftly tank, swiftly tee, a pair of speed shorts, maybe a jacket. The rest can be generic race gear with the runner girl - for the race only this time - not sent out to the world. Leave the runner girl off for the mass production run. However, I see people wear their various race gear all over the place so if they put SW2013 on it, I wouldn't care.

LuluAddict said...

As for being a good destination race - it has good things going for it - a great location and a very scenic course.

Agreed, for SW gear, they do not need to put 2013 all over it. The race kit should include a great race CRB or shirt that is tasteful, notes/dates the race and is NOT made of Ivivva leftover material (as someone pointed out earlier this year, that the women's bonded speed shorts were the same material used for children's clothes). If they're going to do shorts again, do a great, solid color with nice trim/details, put the tree lungs or a fish in the corner and SeaWheeze 2013 etc. And yes, leave the mass produced SW gear out of NA. Fine it's offered in OZ/NZ--thought LLL hasn't held a race there--but leave the runner girl off it.

Agreed that maybe some pieces with 2013, but would like others just in the colors. I love to wear my SW gear and I'm glad it doesn't have 2012 splatted all over. But one or two would have been nice.

As for the race - it's a destination race experience, not a runners race. The course isn't certified - it was long last year. It is a nice and fast course to run though, and can be turned into a runners race if they certify it. The hills were minimal compared to some other destination half-marathons (ahem, Nike).
