Daily Yoga Jacket, New Split Set Pants, and More

Black Swan Daily Yoga Jacket shown with the Black Swan/Raspberry Glo Wunder Unders and Method Bag. The zipper doesn't even have a pull? This jacket is very much on the down-low regarding lulu symbols. I'm a little torn as to how I feel about that. I almost feel I might as well buy a Kyodan knockoff from Marshalls. It's not like the style is very distinctive. Are you guys liking this jacket? I'll probably end up eating my words and getting one but I tend not to like the longer jackets in the boxy style.

big MISS on the Stride replacement jackets. Too generic. It looks like I could get it at Walmart or Target? I miss the old style already. :(

I'm loving the new polar cream jacket!! Do you have any pics of the new scarfs that are coming? Wondering what colors are up next... Not digging the super bright ones :(

I like the new direction of the jackets but not something i MUST have...like i said in another discussion, I don't own any of their previous jackets because of the blatant logos...i feel it looks tacky and so 90's...i even wish i could remove the small reflective logos on tanks and pants...i buy lulu for the fabric, fit, function and fashion...not a status symbol

YES! I love the herringbone jacket. Such a classic look. I can't wait to check that out (let's be realistic - I mean purchase it) soon!

I bought the black swan daily yoga jacket today. I think I like the Stride/In Stride a little better. But I so love black swan I bought it anyway. I laid it over my Stride when I got home to compare them. I found that the daily yoga fits smaller at the bottom however a little looser at the bust. The sleeves are the same length but no cuffins and the pockets are a little stingy- if you like to put your hands in your pockets you might find them small.

I HATE the zipper!!! The brass color make the jacket look like poop! They could have put a matching zipper, the zipper sticks out like a sore thumb! Yuck!!!

Anonymous said...

Does the Daily Yoga Jacket have thumb holes ?

Anonymous said...

Couldn't agree more!

This jacket is way too plain for its price. Should've been $100-$108 like the defines and strides

Anonymous said...

Definately don't like it in place of the stride/in stride. For that price the could have at least put a hood on it :/ it has no style whatsoever and the metal zipper is ugly. They could have at least done something creative with the seaming making it a more flattering softer look than straight up and down.

Anonymous said...

I tried this on today and wanted to love it so bad but I just couldn't. I was ok with the plain look of it but the metal zipper absolutely ruined it for me.

Anonymous said...

I just don't understand the price of the new yoga jacket, when compared to the stride... I have a lot of strides and love them, so the shape of the yoga jacket appeals to me, but not at $128... What does that extra $20 give me?

Anonymous said...

I agree- the zipper ruined the jacket for me as well. The metal is very shiny and cheap looking. Too bad cuz the herringbone is so cute.

What ever happened to "it's all about the quality". Seriously, if you're looking to buy knock-offs just because the logo isn't obvious enough...you're buying Lulu for all the wrong reasons.

Anonymous said...

I hate all of these new designs! I haven't bought anything from Lulu in FOREVER due to the rapidly declining quality, poor color selections, horrid redesigns, and not enough being made in the "staple" pieces. What are they thinking? So disappointing, but a HUGE loss for Lulu. I've been spending all my $$$ at other retailers. Ones that actually want happy customers.

Anonymous said...

It's sooooooooooooooooo plain. They should make more Back to Class Jackets in other colours...those seemed to sell out fast! I have it in BS and now, that is an innovative look, Lulu. Love the ruching. This Daily Yoga Jacket is way too boring.

Anonymous said...

From a manufacturing standpoint, the new design is cheaper to make. No curved seaming in the front for the omega symbol that made the Stride and In Stride recognizable. The cost savings should have been passed on to the customer.

Sparkles? Seriously? Who exactly is the target audience for sparkling pants? It's certainly not my age group. IMO they belong at Ivviva, not LLL. You can get away with sparkly pants below age twelve and above age eighty. Other than that, you're either trying too hard or having a midlife crisis.

Just make some normal black swan reversible WUs, please Lulu? And leave the sparkles for the tween set.

I'm okay with the plain look, but will never consider it for $128. Agree that price point should be more like $98-108 max. Also, judging by the other commenter's fit review, it has the opposite changes that I would have liked to have seen. I always found the chest/waist area to be too roomy and the bottom band a little more fitted in the Stride/In Stride. It's the only lulu piece I ever sized down from 6 to 4, but I always wished for that extra half inch at the band bottom in the four. Oh well, at that price I will never have to fret over what size to choose in this jacket!

I picked it up last night in Polar Cream. I love it. It is a big improvement over the In stride. The collar is smaller than the hideous collar on the In Stride. The In stride zipper was awful...double cheap plastic zipper that rarely worked. The new zipper is much better quality. The fit of the new jacket is much more flattering than the In Stride and that is coming from a lady that owns 3 In Stride jackets.

I like the look of the Daily Yoga Jacket, especially in the herringbone pattern. I agree it's weird on the zipper not having a better pull. On the herringbone, I think the brass pull actually goes; another metal would look odd. As for purchasing it, not at that price. It would be a nice to have, but I do not need it. If it migrated to wmtm, maybe. I'll have to try it on in store to see if I like it on me. I never liked the stride/in stride jackets. I'm 5'5" size 4, and those jackets just never worked for me. They should work for all heights, but I think they are probably best on a taller person. The Daily Yoga Jacket has a different design, so maybe it would work.

OT I received my Run Make A Break Jacket not too long ago and have been wearing it. Very glad I held out for wmtm (as it was still pricey), but it is a superior jacket. Awesome fit, design and details. Sometimes LLL really hits it out of the park.

Anonymous said...

This jacket is so blah looking. It also doesn't seem as flattering as the strides could be. I have a pretty decent define and stride collection, so I will definitely be holding out for another new jacket design down the road.

Heard some others commenting on issues with RG bleeding? I am wondering if others have had this issue, if so I think I am just going to return my RG items before I even take the tags off so very tired of these quality issues.

Just tried on the new Daily Yoga jacket at my store and didn't like it at all. It's shorter than the In Stride whihc I don't mind as I always felt the Strides were a little too long on me but it feels really thin and flimsy and the zipper makes it look really cheap. I feel like this is something I'd buy at Joe Fresh or Target for $39 tops. Even at the In Stride price of $108 I'd feel like this is overpriced but $128 is just outrageous, I feel like this price increase is even less justified than the one for the lined Studio Pants.

Anonymous said...

You can buy plain jackets anywhere for half this price - or less. Reminds me of some I saw at the Gap not too long ago.

I was actually really excited for a new jacket release, and I like the length of this - longer than the Define but not as long as the Stride (which hit me ridiculously low) - but I agree with the comments about the generic look of this jacket. Sure, it's missing the "lulu" touches of the zipper pull and logo, but it's also ill-fitting and not flattering. I pay a premium for LLL because they've always offered products that are uniquely flattering to women in a way that even branded sportswear (Nike, Peal Izumi, Under Armour) can't seem to emulate, to say nothing of places like Target and Costco. The shape and fabric of this just aren't up to those standards. Looks like I'll be hoarding Defines after all.

I tried on the sparkle wunder unders at my store last night and they fit snug. I have maybe 10 pairs of wunder unders, ALL in a size 8. I know that then denim fit a bit snugger, and these fit similar to that. Unless I got a wayward pair, I would size up.

Also, I am wearing a pair of herringbone wunder unders today that I purchased last year and am lamenting the loss of such soft, thick, high-quality pants. The new ones feel nothing like these. :(

I wanted to leave my two cents on the new Scuba stretch. I tried it on last night and I actually like the lighter-weight fabric and hood. However, yikes it is short! I felt like fat girl in little coat! I was tempted by the rose print (I can't remember the whole name) but alas they only had a size 8, which hit right at my belly button. Since it isn't 1988, I am not interested in a top that shows my belly. I hear an 8 in the regular Scuba, but I would definitely need to size up to a 10 for length.

Anonymous said...

I agree, this jacket looks like something I could pick up at any store. The Stride/In Stride was way better!
Thanks for the pic of those glitter wunder unders though, they look gorgeous!

This is just a random thing, but I bought a raspberry glow CRB yesterday and it didn't have a logo on it at all. Is that normal? I looked at old CRBs I had from previous years and they all have a small logo at the cross of the straps on the back. I haven't bought a CRB in awhile so wasn't sure what to expect. Do I return this? I'm afraid that there could be more wrong with it..

LLA and anyone else interested in Daily Jacket - I went to the store already determined to buy it, cuz I personally loved the fact that from far away, no one can tell it's a LULU jacket, esp on the herringbone print. Don't get me wrong--I still like their stuff but just not really my image.

Anyway, the fit of this jacket was awful on me. Caution - this is NOT a "boxy" jacket and I am thin and petite (one educator commented "looks better on petites" but I disagree). The reason is that the bottom is actually TIGHT. Just as snug as the In Stride if not tighter! But then, the chest / upper torso is cut wider and baggier, so the entire torso looks a bit bunch, doesn't drape or fall nicely if you can visualize this. If a top is loose on top, it should not be this snug on bottom, but I've seen this with LLL's other designs like that one loungey hoodie (forgot the name) few months ago.

Also, it's $128!! For a very plain jacket. I was quick to take it off but I'm pretty sure I didn't see thumbholes.

So I can't believe I did this but I ended up getting the new Victorias Secret funnel neck jacket, which was even more expensive at $140 but MUCH more flattering and I hate to say--better made. And it doesn't have obnoxious logos / labels like Lorna Jane or anything so I can wear it around everywhere comfortably. I have to say...wow pleasant surprise of the year.

I'm not a fan at all.

For the record, I am 5'11 and loved how long the strides were not to mention distinctive.

I really love the new herringbone pattern and heft of it. I bought the Wunder Unders in the Alberta Lake Herringbone.

I will defiantly not be purchasing the new version. I am in total agreement with everyone, what's up with the metal zipper and price point?

When you tack down the style, appeal, and quality of an item, you're not allowed to up charge!

The Lustre Luon WU look like they have lint on them :(
I still can't get over how short the new Stretch hoodie's are, what a bummer.
Pass on the daily yoga jackets, too plain for me.

Anonymous said...

The "sparkle" WUs were tight on me as well. They're not my thing, but I would have had to size up if I bought them. I don't have to size up in denim. There is a lack of stretch in them.

sophia said...

so, i never wore strides/in strides anyway because the boxy cut doesn't work for me, and this new jacket has no appeal as the cut is similar. however, here are my thoughts anyway:

i actually like the brass zipper, especially with the herringbone print. i also like the fact that it's not covered with logos. however, the jacket just seems kinda blah in general. it's not very distinctive..and i don't mean covered in logos (though that's one way to be distinctive)..i mean design-wise. there's nothing about the design of the jacket that makes it seem worth the $128 price tag. i think the seaming does nothing for the ladies wearing the jacket - the old lulu logo on the front - while screaming lulu - was very flattering. lulu could have left the logo, and just done it in an understated way (not different color, etc.), or else create a jacket with curvier seams - princess seams, anyone? hello?

this jacket just seems like another cost-cutting measure. straight seems are easier (and thus cheaper) to produce, and there's less fabric waste. unfortunately, it also creates a jacket that's just very ordinary looking and should be priced around $50, not $128.

Anonymous said...

I thought the jacket was junk. I tried the BSHB one and it was nothing special for 128 or even if it went on MD. I would rather have the back to class jacket in more colors then this jacket.

Anonymous said...

Just to comment on the Scuba stretch as well. I saw them instore yesterday and I couldn't believe how cheap the inside of the hood looked. After a couple of washes that material is going to pile for sure (in fact it already looked like it was). Not what you want for a $100+ sweatershirt. With the scuba stretch and new yoga jackets there are becoming less and less distinguising features between LLL and discount brands
I'll stick to my costco "stride" knock offs for $20!!

sophia said...

another thing - are my eyes just playing tricks on me, or do those BS/RG wunder unders look sheer....it looks like i can see the pink side right through the BS where the wunder unders are stretched (just like you could on the runder unders)....yikes!

I saw the new daily yoga jacket and was pleasantly surprised! I own a couple of the strides (markdowns), but they weren't my favorite and never sought them out, found them too boxy and rather matronly (on me). However--saw the bs herringbone and was intrigued by the mix of textures (metal zip & fabric), as well as appearing better made and more high-end! I must say, I like the minimalism and better tailoring--thought the old logo reminded me of the jackets gymnastic teams wear & am happy to update to this sleeker look. I loved the herringbone--the cream and black didn't have the same impact, but are a nice update to a core item. I did size down to 4 (5'5", 122lbs, 32dd)still had room to layer. Usually am a 6 in all, except stride/instride. The jacket felt/looked great, the only thing missing were the thumbholes.

I was just at the lulu store and bought the Daily Yoga Jacket. It fits similar to the In-stride but I like it cause its plain. It fits really nice on me :)although i do agree, 128 for no thumbholes?

Does anyone know if the brushed Wunder Under pants have the diamond or triangle gusset? I did the online chat with the GEC and they couldn't tell me. They said it may be the diamond since that is the gusset in all the new pants but she couldn't tell me for sure.

Has anyone else noticed that they are "updating" everything and bringing out "new versions" using less fabric/fewer features and either giving us thinner/shorter fabric and/or charging $20 more for them? I don't live near a store and have had 20 items delivered with defective seams. I've had enough. They're just adding insult to injury.

Anonymous said...

I used to love Lulu because of the attention they put into the little details such as thumb holes, reflections, colorful ties on the zipper, zipper garages and etc. But recently we've seen none of that. Core items become thinner, plainer, sheerer and yet it manages to cost more. New items are chasing after some sort of fashion sense that I can't fathom. Please bring back the high quality core items we have tried and loved.

I was super skeptical of the Daily Jacket, and not overly impressed with the pictures/zipper, etc. Was in store today and decided to try it on, and ended up LOVING it. Bought in two colors. I agree that the price is ridiculous. Should be $108 at most. It fits really nice, and I don't find the bottom tighter then the In Stride. Like that it's a bit shorter then the In Stride. And was actually a bit glad it didn't have the Lululemon omega on the chest. Sometimes I get a little self conscious for wearing head to toe Lululemon all the time :)

Anonymous said...

It really does seem like they are cutting costs on so many items by cheapening the quality and charging more. Maybe so much money is going into the capsule collections they need to offset this. Can't help but notice many of these capsule items go to wmtm. I know if everything I love is changed or discontinued, I won't be buying very much. It is disappointing.

Anonymous said...

Good luck with wishing...... "Wishful thinking," cause Lulu doesn't CARE what customers think, as long as people are still buying and still spending... At the end of the day, it's the almighty dollar that speaks for all of us! :( We can complain, till alllll the cows come home! If people keep spending, Lulu will keep ripping us off! LOL Just stating the obvious,

I like the lll logo on the jackets because it is so figure flattering!

Am I the only one who thinks the sparkle WUs look like they are covered in LINT?!

Anonymous said...

I like the jacket for its simplicity. The herringbone is appealing. I will not buy it for $128 pre-tax, though. I don't care if I ever own it. I have enough.

Hilarious, "Bought in two colors. I agree that the price is ridiculous." How can one make such a statement but have purchased two? Obviously it is not ridiculous for YOU. Clearly LLL has you, hook, line, and sinker. Don't get p*ssed off now.

LuluAddict said...

@ Melissa - It may look that way in the photos but it doesn't look that way in real life. I don't think the sparkles really noticeable in the store but the eds said it really showed up in the sunlight.

Anonymous said...

were the lustre wunder unders released online at all yet?? I want to try them but have no stores in my province!

Anonymous said...

I wish the Elongate Tanks didn't come with sparkly (?) straps, it turned me off the otherwise pretty looking tank.

Anonymous said...

Agreed 100%! No thumb holes, ugly zipper, boring stitching, no zipper pull, price increase, AND no hood. This jacket is a terrible, cheap replacement and it kind of pisses me off that they think they can cut out so many of the details that are the signature features and up the price.

Anonymous said...

Yup me too, that's probably the number one thing that turned me off along with no thumb holes. It looks cheap, I also shared my opinions on how crappy it was with the Ed in my store today :)

Anonymous said...

No!

Anonymous said...

Or less, missing a lot of the std details like the u turn pullover.

Anonymous said...

Your missing the point, no one above said they missed the label. They missed the thumb holes, the zipper blending in, the hair tie zipper pull, the hood, and a general softness (curves in the stitching that tailor the shape to a woman's figure) in the shape, and a hood. All these things are typical trademarks of lululemon combining to create quality in craftsmanship as well as quality of design and style. I wouldn't buy this jacket from anywhere as I've seen stuff at Target that has more pizazz than this.

Anonymous said...

I thought the same..was tempted by Alberta/Rose but would have to size up as well.

Anonymous said...

Very good point about the capsules!

Anonymous said...

I tried on the sparkle wu in store. Very faint sparkle almost wouldn't know unless you were looking for it. Couldn't see them when on at all, at least not in the dressing room.

Anonymous said...

@Melissa Nope, that was my first thought too - linty or dusty. Either way, bleh.

Anonymous said...

You all are hilarious and complain sooooo much. The daily yoga jacket has been selling through. Not only does everyone look great in it- but the jacket is tasteful and amazing.

Pink Peony 4 said...

The Gec at my store said there are no more bleeding issues and pointed out the lack of sticker reminding us all to wash our brights. Cross your fingers...

LuluAddict said...

I wore my Raspberry Glo CRB yesterday but I had a black bra underneath and a dark jacket on top so wouldn't really notice anything. However, I didn't see the more egregious signs of bleeding such as purple streaks on the shirt or came away with pink armpits.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 6:08 am - It definitely is tasteful. I think I'd like it more if it didn't have the blingy zipper but I've read about quite a few people really liking it after they tried it on. I haven't seen it yet. I still wish they put a zipper hair tie on the main zipper.

Anonymous said...

I am sick of thumbholes...I couldn't care less about a hood, I don't need a zipper pull at all. I think the lack of these things makes the jacket look classy. However, I think the zipper makes this jacket look tacky. I don't know if the jacket is worth the price but will consider it if it is shorter than the stride Jacket....does anybody know?

Anonymous said...

Boooo ! That sucks

Anonymous said...

Triangle gusset

Anonymous said...

that jacket doesn't seem so bad. I think that the zipper is probably more durable than the plastic ones.
I really don't purchase lulu jackets or bags. Too suburban for me. I tend to buy Marmot or Musto jackets.
I think I have an old hoodie that I purchased from the loot a while back and I never wear it. I might give it to my niece.

Anonymous said...

I bought this jacket today in the herringbone. There seems to be two completely different ways people are wearing this jacket...some are wearing it more form fitted and others are wearing it baggier. I prefer the form fitting way. When I sized up, it became incredibly baggy in the shoulder/ and boxy. Just wondering what everyone else is doing - sizing up or down. The tags are still on mine...may be taking it back

Mksaka said...

I bought mine form-fitting! I felt like when I size up it fit nicely at the bottom (around the hips) but there was a lot of extra material in the chest/tummy areas!

Thanks for your reply. I think I will end up keeping the smaller size.
