More photos of the new Rose Herringbone print Scuba Stretch hoodie. A very pretty jacket ruined by an unlined hood. Excellent design decision. Even if I bought that back-channel feedback was calling for a lighter hood they couldn't have lined it with something material to cover up the fleece? The fleece only gets rattier looking with wear and washing.
Our first glimpse of Clarity Yellow. Also shown is the new Raspberry Glo Scuba Stretch hoodie.
The Deep Coal/Creamsicle Pop Runder Unders. Shown with the Top Speed Tank.

Dear Lulu, Please read the reviews of the Stretch Scuba on your website. I don't care how many pretty colors you come out with. I will not purchase the new Stretch Scuba.
hmm at first glance i'm not loving the clarity yellow, which is good as I love the raspberry glo and spent way too much money on TV items this month!
I'm with you Anon. @ 9:30AM. Lulu please read the feedback and bring back the old Scuba, the old Power Y, the old gusset... Lulu, you're simply going in the wrong direction !!!
I know!!!! ME EITHER!!! LOL....
It should tell them something when they still have full size runs on EVERY SINGLE COLOR!?
I've been reading some comments asking "why do people buy fulu?" Well, look at the above comments... lulu has become it's own "fulu". I say why would you buy lulu when you can buy the SAME quality hoodie at Costco for $16.97? And don't talk about your "investment" in lulu. Snagging swiftly, triangle gussets you couldn't pay someone to wear, muffin-top-inducing Inspire crop waistbands, etc are not investments. They're shoddy clothing at a ridiculously marked up price. I own a lot of lulu, and I love the quality pieces I have. But I am not too good to buy a $12 fulu tank when its stitching is better than the $42 crb currently on the shelf.
I wish people wouldn't leave feedback on items just because they're mad at lulu (although deserved) on items that they've only tried on in store....
How can you possibly know how an item functions and feels when you haven't worn it around and done your normal activities in it.
If you don't like it, don't buy it but leave the feedback for people in the know so it's legit.
It wouldn't surprise me if LLL decided to delete comments from the "tried on in store" and had already decided way before you ever got to the store that you didn't like it...
the (towel) mat with the spelling error is in the loot section, for a whole $4 off!
Ooh clarity yellow looks a bit like my chirp. I like a lot of color and have barely any yellow, I have hopes for this one for contrast.
The organic wunder under crop has a 1/5 star rating. That REALLY shoes the decline in quality. Unfortunately, most items still appear to have high ratings because of the large number of older reviews (when the product was awesome) compared to the number of newer reviews posted after item modifications have been made. The inspire crops and flow y bra are good examples of this, not to mention the fabric changes/horrid triangular gusset taking place in the regular luon WU.
my store also had turbo tanks in split pea on "markdown" for a whopping $4 cheaper than the original $58. if the markdown was reasonable, i would have considered it. but, $54. whats up with that.
THere is a comment from Lulu on the facebook page regarding the scuba stretch
Right now the style of hoodie we're offering is the Scuba Hoodie*Stretch, so I don't anticipate us seeing the previous version in the coming seasons.
~Tess
Looks like they are committed to the stretch style for SEASONS! OUCH!
the tried on store thing is the same as me buying online, trying it on at home and noticing the crappy changes. i'm not going to spend $80+ to "try it out" in public when cleary i have camel toe, i have muffin top in a crop i've never had muffin top in, and/or you can see my nude underwear when i squat in my bathroom mirror. i leave that feedback so other people won't spend the return shipping or aren't shocked when they need a size 10 instead of a 6 in a top (i'm looking at you venus tank).
Why can't someone leave feedback on items that they've only tried on in the store? Isn't that the point of trying on in the store - to check fit. Fit is just as important as function. An item may not be as functional if it doesn't fit right. If someone buys the item via online, tries it on, decides it doesn't fit or whatever reason...they can leave feedback for whatever reason they didn't like it.
Anyways, once people do their normal activities in lulu outside (not just hanging around home), they can't return the item once they take off the tags if they don't like it.
Just got my Tender Violet scuba today. No surprises here - the fit is lousy. There's so much room in the front now I feel like I could go down a size. Looks like just another hoodie...def not worth the money. It's going back.
anon @ 12:24
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't buy any item of clothing that already didn't feel right in the store, and since Lulu has the "if you've worn it you're out of luck" return policy, I'm not going to buy something there if it already seems wrong before I've crossed the threshold.
People aren't stupid. If someone says their experience with the item is from a try-on in the store, the reader isn't going to assume that reviewer did 10 hours of yoga or running in it.
A try on review can be just as valuable as a usage one. For example, if 100 people write that they get CT and sheerness in an item in the dressing room, it's not likely the item is going to magically work outside of it This can save people, especially the people who don't live near a store and have to rely on online purchasing, from bothering with ordering an item they're just going to return immediately...and have to pay to return to boot.

@ anon 12:24
You make some great points, however, if people try items in the dressing room, and they don't work, it's understandable that they will not purchase the item to try it during their activities. This is because Lululemon doesn't offer the Athleta policy of if you try and don't like it, you can return it.
A guest can definitely write a review without trying the item in their activity. I tried the new inspires-the waistband gives me muffin top. How will that change when I try them running? I'm pretty sure the lower, narrower waistband doesn't help my muffin top, because my inspires from March 2012 and earlier do not give me muffin top. This review might aid someone who doesn't live near a store.
The same goes with the power Y. If someone loves the older style due to the way the luon felt, they may dislike the feel of the thinner luon in addition to he longer length.
I do agree that the emotion should be taken out of reviews, though. By the same token, those reviews can simply be ignored if desired.
@ Anon 12:24. I disagree that " tried on in store" reviews should be deleted. A scuba is meant to keep someone warm. If it can't function during try on it surely isn't going to function in cold weather. I think we also know if WUs are see through in store we don't care how the pants function. It's a no go if my hoo-ha can be seen during downward dog.
I caught a glimpse of the clarity yellow scuba today @ trolley square, and to my eyes it really just looked like a faded ray scuba, but less green. The color was not super exciting. They also had this rose herringbone alberta lake, which was quite pretty in person, though I am not going to bother with this edited version of the scuba. I wouldn't be so bothered by the changes (as they are relatively minimal) except the shorter length (a classic sweatshirt is not short imo), and the lack of price adjustment based on less fabric, etc. Oh lulu.
I feel justified reviewing certain characteristics, such as fit or sheerness of fabric, from an in-store try-on. I know not everyone has a store nearby and many people rely on such reviews when placing online orders.
Did I miss the deep coal/creamsicle pop runder under, or is it not online/in stores yet? I kind of like it!!
Also, saw the raspberry glo light headbands in store in Scottsdale today. The swiftly was light and pretty, while the fly away tamer was very bright. I liked both!
I saw that re: the towel mat - made me laugh!
Just noticed that LLL is acknowledging their error on the towel mat. They've added thats it's a reminder to use spellcheck. While it was a stupid mistake, it's nice to see them admit it!
why we made this
We engineered this yoga mat for travel, commuting and our daily practice. The absorbent microfibre top is designed to keep us from slipping around in Sun Salutation and the grippy rubber bottom helps keep this mat durable and stable. We use it in hot classes, Vinyasa classes, yoga in our hotel room and as a reminder that it's important to use spellcheck.
hahahaha
I'm a die hard Lulu fan since day ONE, when not one single person even KNEW what Lulu was!! I was buying it at a privately owned high end store, before there were Lululemon stores all over Canada. I love my Lulu Remix Lux hoodie and have it for 4 years and it still looks AMAZING! In fact, I even had capris pants, from 12 years ago, that say "made in Canada." I see "other" companies, trying to make a go at selling yoga wear in Canada...with the motto, that ALL their stuff is MADE IN CANADA. Of course, their brand isn't as soft and the designs aren't as nice, but I wonder how companies struggling to make it, can afford to make their stuff in Canada and Lulu is such a HUGE brand now...but they would rather make their clothing overseas. Why??? probably because it's much cheaper to that.
A few years ago, I had an interesting conversation with a higher up at Lulus GEC. She told me....that it costs A LOT of money to make a pair of Groove pants. She told me this story about how it may cost them $75 to make a pair of Grooves and they sell them for $20 more to make a profit!! She explained the whole labour thing and how they spent MILLIONS buying special sewing machines and yadda yadda yadda. I remember at the time, thinking how her "story" seemed made up. I highly DOUBT it costs $75 to make a pair of Grooves, seeing it costs $1.50 to make a high end lipstick and they can be sold for as much as $25!!! LOL... I read somewhere there are ONLY 2 or 3 lipstick factories in all the world!!!! (and all the various brands, come from these factories)
I just bought one of costcos Fulu hoodies for $20 and it was very good quality and they had lovely colors, when I was there. They were selling like HOTCAKES when Inwas there. With all of Lulus recent hoodie design mishaps....I can SEE why people are picking up these Hoodies so quickly!! they are gorgeous!!
And we pay big money for what? Quality? Good customer service??? I have met some lovely ladies who work at Lulu, over the years, but one time, I brought in cotton grooves that were falling apart, after 2 washes. I don't live near a Lulu, so I called and MADE SURE, that when I bring them in, they could repair them on the spot. She asked and came back on the line--No problem. As long as I bring them in early in the morning, they would do that for me--have them repaired. Get to the store on a Sat. Morning....now it's a different story!!!! they CANNOT fix them for a whole week, BUT, they will fix them for me and MAIL THEM BACK TO MY PROVINCE...at MY EXPENSE!!! They wanted me to cough up $15!!! LOL.... I told them "no, they need to fix their garbage, or give me a new pair of pants!!!" They agreed....and exchanged them for something else. I wanted the same pants again, but of course, they only had one size left and it was a bigger size. you certainly DON'T pay extra money for their clothes, because of their "excellent" customer service! LOL... They wanted to give me a hard time, because someone screwed up by telling me they would fix my pants...and then try to charge me shipping fees to have the pants repaired. I THINK NOT! (This happened 2 years ago)
You all have to see that the negative reviews on the new scuba are ALL from people who had already decided they didn't like it before they "tried it on"
That's what's irritating... I want and unbiased review.
Not a review from biased, pissed off and cynical lulu fanatic that is mad that a favorite is changing.
Reviews isn't the correct forum for venting.
I have a question. There is a review of the intuition wrap, I think, the one with the arm holes at your feet. Anyways, there is a five star review that states its chic to wear it with your feet through the arm holes. Is it a joke or did I misunderstand the review???
I like Clarity Yellow and would be content to have a CRB in that colour.
Scuba Stretch: LL can keep it. This Scuba is of lesser quality in many ways, and should not be priced at $108. I understand the desire for a lighter weight Scuba, but not at that price point (and again, it's not great quality).
I think someone commented they're 5'2" and like the fit of the new Scuba Stretch. Great for you, but I'm 5'5" (so not really tall) and the regular Scuba in size 2 or 4 (a bit big on me) fit me well: I prefer a neat, fitted look of the original Scuba and NOT the fit of the stretch version.
As for customer reviews on LLL's site when the item wasn't purchased. Of course those reviews are valid and helpful! I appreciate them and decide if they are useful to me or not. I have access to stores, but they are especially useful to those who have no access to a retail store. I do agree, however, that some people should lose the drama in their review(s).
Ummmmm DUH! Why would I go running in an overpriced camel toe sheer muffin top bleeding pair of pants? If I already have these problems in the change room....what the heck is the function going to be?
Haha you can spend 108$ on an item just to test function so that your review can be legitimate but I will stick to my change room review! And the next time an item leaves the change room I will tell u it's function.....
If it ever does!
I just think it's kind of strange that a company won't make what customers want. Doesn't that seem like a bad idea? I don't get it.
Going to try out some different brands. I'm an instructor, and I live in my active wear.
@anon 4:21
What makes you think the people who wrote reviews of the new Scuba decided they didn't like it even before they tried it on? That's not at all what I glean from reading all the reviews. You make a lot of assumptions in your narrative. Here's a suggestion: Actually try on both a new and old Scuba. You'll see for yourself what everyone's talking about.
Are some of these comments coming from the competitors? Makes you wonder, really?!
I am just echoing something I heard from someone else....these new scubas look like Hanes....if I wanted Hanes I would buy Hanes...that being said will not be buying these from lulu. Yuck!
Some try on reviews are handy, e.g., it fits tight in the chest but the reviews I weight most are those where the person has bought the item and then worn it for awhile. I always wear my items before putting a review on the lululemon website.
Disagree about wearing the item before reviewing it. If you try on an item and do NOT like it, then you have to return it right away or lose your money. Perhaps you can afford to do that, but most people cannot. Why recommend keeping items with poor fit, inferior workmanship and/or quality, or items that someone simply does not like? Only lululemon would benefit from that, not the customer.
I'm not a competitor, as someone said above...
I'm in the R&D and I buy a ton of Lulu... I have old scubas and I have tried on the new scuba... don't assume I haven't.
But give me a break... you most certainly had made up your mind to dislike the new scuba the moment you heard it was changing.
Doesn't mean I agree with the changes lulu is making.
But I DON'T want the reviews full bitching and moaning.. stick to what you like and what you don't like about it.
Hmm. I'm just saying, perception is everything, and for a company, that translates into real dollars lost. The masses aren't rational (have you heard any political talk/rants lately?) I base a lot of my decisions on photos I see online. And the new scuba jacket (to me) doesn't even look like quality from the photos.
I absolutely rely on fitting room reports. Look at Anthropologie's website, their community does a great job with reviews, including fitting room photos and great reviews that give me an idea of how something would fit on my body type. Even if an item is excellent quality, it won't fit every body type. Sure, performance of an item is another part of that, and I appreciate the reviews that let me know how an item holds up to run, yoga, etc. But I also want to absolutely know how an item has changed from a previous version that I am familiar with. The old scubas are just long enough for me. If there has been a change to make them shorter, that won't work for me. As for the reviews getting emotional, I guess some folks are just getting tired of seeing item after item change in ways that seem to come from cost-cutting motives. I do believe this whole 'scuba hoodie stretch' business was a cya afterthought. In my local store all the scubas are lumped on one display and the hangtags do not mention that they are a different style. I would surmise that LLL continues to look for ways to bring their costs down while still charging the same prices. Perhaps a whole new customer base will not know what the items used to look like and will be so eager to get into the brand that they will not mind. Other certainly do, however. I also rely on this and Lulumum's blogs with their store reports and reports from others in the community. I like to know if they found an item to be sheer or good coverage. If nothing else, it makes me relieved that it's not just me having these issues with items that used to fit just fine, with no see through problems.
I tried on the new Scuba stretch in store yesterday and was hopeful. I was disappointed that the fit was so boxy and bland, and, of course SHORT. I'm 5'8 and the regular scubas keep riding up on me (but I love them and have 5) so this new one was extremely short on me. I wanted to like the rose print scuba (a dark but colorful one would be great) but the fit was horrible. To get a long enough one I would have to size up to a 10 or something, and would be swimming in it! I also did not like the pink stitching or edging on the scuba-too much contrast for such a dark scuba. Seems like they used what they had lying around, instead of a alberta blue which would have been more suitable and helped the albert rose print pop.
I am very saddened by at first the quality issues, and now poor design decisions en masse. This reflects poorly on the brand overall.
Just a disclaimer,I have never owned or even tried on a Scuba of any kind before so before today I didn't have an emotional attachment to the old style. I live in Atlanta and our stores typically do not carry these. Today I went to my local store to pick up some hemmed CRBs and they had Scubas for the first time ever. They had the original scuba in black and the Rose Print, Clarity Yellow, and Raspberry Glo in the Stretch version. I tried on one of each. I really did not care for the fit of the stretch or the exposed fleece in the hood which would get ratty. For reference, I am 5' 2" 115 lbs size 4 lulu, i felt that the cut of scuba stretch hit me very awkwardly. It was not cropped (which is not my style anyways) but did not cover my hips entirely so it essentially cut my hips in half, which sort of created the appearance of love handles. I strongly prefer for all of my tops( both my lulu work out tops and my regular tops) to cover my hips so they fall maybe 2-3 inches below the waist of the pants I'm wearing. If the cut was short on me, i can only imagine how frustrated tall ladies must feel. I ended up buying the original scuba even though it was in boring old black because I loved the way it fit and don't think I will get the opportunity to buy another one.
Just bought the new rose herringbone Scuba today. I have to say I love it!!! I'm not particularly a fan of the new style but what are you gonna do? I like it enough to buy if the print or color is amazing - and this one is super cute!
For anyone who's interested in buying- I'm anywhere from a 4 to a 6 in Lulu jackets and I bought an 8. I have a longer torso so the 8 gives me a little more length and it just felt more comfy. The 6 fit "perfectly" - it had that fitted look, which is fine - but the 8 was just cozier.
@ anon 2:16 pm - I bought the alberta lake rose scuba stretch today, too. It's a bit shorter than my other scubas but I loved the print. It seemed to fit snugger than the raspberry glo one. I'll have a post up with measurements vs. my other scubas shortly
The Alberta Lake hoodie is one of LLL's more hideous recent designs. Too much going on in this jacket and an extremely poor fit with the re-design. More teal, the color of gangrene. Bleh.
@ anon 3:31 pm - I guess you haven't been buying lulu very long. It's a very lulu-esque print.
I also bought the lone last black scuba in my size today. I now have ten, so I can wave it goodbye with enough to last me :).
