I <3 those stripes!!!! So adorable. I would snatch up this top in nearly any color except red. I'm not a red person. Put that on the website in any shade of pink and it will be Mine. :)
OT the new silver metallic Daily Bag reminds me one of my all-time-favourite-Louis Vuitton bag: The LV Monogram Miroir Alma. Really stunning bags, both in silver and gold:http://www.thisnext.com/item/DDB336B3/Louis-Vuitton-Monogram-MiroirQuestion to LLA and all LL long time fans. The newly uploaded "Jericho" mens shorts (with that name I can only think of the Palestinian town on the West Bank) are made of Yogaboard fabric, however, I can't find a description for it on the lulu site. Does any of you know if this is more like cottom or is it a fabric that could be worn at the beach and get wet without becoming too stretchy or revealing?I think I'd like to get the iris blue shorts for my husband, but only as a bathing shorts, never to-and-from in those hideous giant polka dots.
@ anon 7:50 am - They did make this in a couple of pinks last year - Raspberry and Dewberry. http://luluaddict.blogspot.com/2011/09/new-dewberry-run-for-your-life-tank.html (September 6, 2011)
Lulu's refusal to do anything about the reselling issue is ridiculous. I recent went into a store wearing my flash vinyassa scarf and one of the eds commented that someone came in and bought TWELVE of them the first day. She had no idea they were going for $100 on ebayThere has to be some happy medium between being too strict with purchases and allowing for the amount of reselling that goes on
@ anon 7:50 says: Sadly I was only a minor LuLu enthusiast back then. I didn't check the website very often and pretty much only bought what was available at my local gym's boutique with the occasional large LLL haul when I traveled to a city lucky enough to have a retail store. Oh well. Good luck at Seawheeze, LLA. Seems like it will be tons of fun!
What can they really do about it (the reselling) besides try to work with EBay to figure out who these people are? I guess the Ed who sold the 12 scarves could have recorded the customers name for future investigation. Personally, I refuse to buy from people on EBay who seem to have multiple LLL items for sale in every size. Of their prices are redonkulous anyway... So, it doesn't take much restraint. But if we all quit buying from them, then they would quit buying out the desirable items, right?Note that I have no problem with people just trying to recoup $ on the occasional item that they've grown tired if or didn't really fit just right.
I'm sure it is hard to police some of the people who buy out large quantities to mark up on ebay, but I am surprised Lulu doesn't try with online items- like other stores that limit the number of hot items per customer. Remember the Gratitude Wrap fiasco? On the other hand, it is an extra step in customer service, and I wonder if Lulu cares. It plays into the scarcity design.I've bought almost nothing in months, but did get two mesh CRBS which I love and polocrosse crops. They've only had one wearing, hope my new crops look better and last longer than my winter purchases. I baby my lulu, and my old stuff still looks new, but my stuff from this year is not wearing well. I can see getting some Pow Pink- but not if it bleeds.
Since the Sea Wheeze stuff will be limited edition, I hope they limit to something like two per person. Heck, I don't mind if I have to show my bib to buy something. ;-)@anon 8:32 am - I think the eds in the stores are conflicted. They work on commission so what is their incentive to limit purchases? However, you would think they could limit the on line stuff easy enough, especially if they did a little detective work and figured out who the big eBay re-sellers are.
Maybe Lulu's not even interested in limiting re-sale. I mean, it doesn't affect them and their bottom line in any way, and it actually makes their stuff more in demand, I guess?Personally I'll do my part by never buying from an inflated-price Ebay seller, no matter what it is. I don't need new Lulu stuff that badly, there's always more stuff next week, lol.
AGREED 100000000% If the price is jacked I won't buy it! Wish others would follow suit!!!!
Sigh! Free market system!
They work on commission?! Ugh.
I didn't know they worked on commission!!! Every time I go to a store (which isn't often bc there aren't any stores w/in 4 hrs of my house), most of the eds are less than enthusiastic to help me. There are a couple that are super friendly and helpful but most tend to ignore me. (I usually tend to visit one particular store bc it's close to my parent's house.) I usually walk out w/ a huge pile of items that I found on my own! On the ebay thing, I agree. I only buy from sellers that are trying to unload items that they don't wear or don't fit into anymore. I will not pay more than retail. That goes for shipping plus item cost. I usually won't buy unless it's a great deal.
And I forgot to comment on the sea wheeze items. Love them! Adorable. I have 2 run for your life tanks and like them. But I love this color and I adore the shorts.
They work on commission ?!?!!?? Come again!?!!??
Wait, will anyone be able to purchase race expo clothing? I thought it was limited to registered runners.
some of the sea wheeze items are already on ebay, and people are paying big bucks: the polka dot shorts you got for registering, LLA, as well as the men's version that only registered runners could receive. highest price sold so far is $100 for the women's shorts. search "lululemon sea wheeze" and scroll down until you see on "completed listings" under the "Show only" list on the left side. click on it and you'll see the items that have sold in the past few weeks. some sellers are starting the bids high, others are starting at a reasonable price and allowing the bidders to decide how much they are willing to pay...point in fact, that is what eBay (and commercialism) is about: sellers have a product, buyers want the product, buyers determine how much they are willing to pay for said product. bash the overpriced sellers all you want but the buyers have all the control. WRT LLL policing--good luck with that. they are making products that sell--what do they care who it sells to or for how much thereafter. you ever wonder why their prices creep upward (ex. CRBs from $39 to $42 or WU from $68 to $72)? i bet they are watching the resale market a lot closer than we think and they are using that guage to determine the "fair market value" of their clothing. i'm not a marketing person--an engineer that is a frugal consumer--but that is how my brain is processing the recent LLL price increases and the eBay market. LLL see what the items CAN sell for and are adjusting their marketing and pricing to get a bigger piece of the pie. it is a slippery slope and if they go too big, too fast, they'll lose customers...hence the $2-$4 increase. they're probably thinking: what is another $2 or $4 when the pants are already $100? it is all relative...
I used to work at lulu No commission :-)
I worked at LLL. There is no "commission" because they speak a different language at LLL. We made a "sales bonus." If the store or showroom meets the targeted sales for the day/week, you get usually a $2/hr pay increase. Some stores get even larger increase.Managers and Assistant Managers get the same incentives plus a quarterly bonus based on sales. So, in essence, they work on commission.
Props to you who can pull off stripes and plaid. It is an unfortunate look on me though. I like the shape and length of the wheres waldo top!
a collective commission...lots of retailers use that same model to encourage better customer service which yields higher sales and repeat business. sure beats getting beaten with a wet noodle!
Same here, I missed out but love this tank, hoping it comes back!
If they are paid on a bonus system in my store you wouldn't know it, the team members on the floor aren't especially friendly. They tend to ignore people unless you directly ask them a question. I certainly don't shop there for their personalities!
I know some people sell stuff that they forgot to take back! Lululemon has a two week return policy! And eBay takes about 15% of your item! So to break even on an item you have to rack up the price at least 15%. Say u bought pants for 100 . You would have to sell for 115 to break even. I don't mind paying someone a little extra for fees because otherwise they would lose money and would rather keep the item.
I'm sad to hear that so many of you have bad experiences with the staff at the stores. I guess that despite my complaints about the drive to my closest store I should consider myself lucky that at least the gals there are super friendly, helpful, and don't complain a bit about all the stuff I try on and don't buy. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if they complain to each other after I leave but at least they're very nice to me. I usually hate being bugged while I'm shopping but for some reason I like their level of friendliness. That said, I did go to a different store last week and definitely noticed a difference. I was pretty much ignored and didn't get the same helpful vibe from the staff there when I approached them for assistance.
I find most of the time the girls are my stores are pretty great. There’s an older lady who remembers my name and likes to say hi. I find if its busy I’ll get ignored but if its not super crazy full of people then always at least two or three people will come up and ask if I need any help looking for anything or start talking to me about whatever particular item I’m holding. They used to be really cool about returns to but I have noticed lately they want to know exactly why you’re returning it instead of simply that you don’t want it and one time I had a girl (I think she was the assistant manager) try to tell me there was tooth paste on the top I was returning when I’d only tried it on once! She grudgingly took it back. However, its been 2 ½ weeks since my last purchase of any new items and I’m feeling great! I was going to break up with lulu but I’ve decided now that I probably won’t but I’m only going to buy AWESOME stuff and not the stuff that’s so so or a similar colour to something I could get elsewhere for cheaper. I also love my groove pants but I find that the pants start pilling quite fast now and aren’t as good quality as the original ones that could last you 7 years. I’m not sure if I want to pay $104 before taxes (116.50 with taxes) for their pants when I could go get a look alike pair for under $70 elsewhere that is similar quality to their pants lately.
Does anyone know if pow pink will be out in a define soon, maybe tues??
I have sold a few Lululemon items on eBay because they didn't fit me right and I wanted to buy something else. I sold my No Limits tank (not even a popular color, it was the Fossil grey one with beachy floral lining) that I wore several times- started the price at $39.99 and it sold for just over $75 plus $5 shipping. The funny thing is it was still available on the website for $68. I will buy Lulu items but only if it's a really good deal- I got some Groove crops for $40 (including shipping) and a tank for $25 total.
Just for the record, resellers came to the Seawheeze store and pretty much cleaned out all the good stuff by 11am. As a runner, who paid $128 for the privilege of running their race (and who received those ridiculous shorts that I'll never wear) I was extremely disappointed that I couldn't even buy myself a souvenir. The striped crb are on eBay now for $200! I hope nobody buys from those jerks. Exclusive, yeah right. Thanks a lot lululemon.
