Price Increase in CRBs on the Way
The price of Cool Racerbacks is going to increase to $42. People have reported that some stores "repriced" existing $39 CRBs in the stores to $42 with the little white stickers. If lulu is going to be so tight-fisted as to mark up existing stock by $3, then do it right and print out all new hang tags. A lot of customers know that the white stickers means that the price has been changed and perceive lululemon as being excessively greedy when they change the price via little white sticker. I've heard that people are balking at the 30-50% price increase in the Scubas (from $98 to $128 or $148). Four colors of Scubas recenly went to "markdown" for $98 and they are still showing a full size range on the US side of the website. Lululemon does offer nice quality workout wear but many people are getting tired of the constant price increases.

Nothing is more annoying than that little white sticker. This is micro-managing at it's worst. :(
I thought they said that the prices of their core items wouldn't change...see how long that lasted
That makes me want to vomit. The CRBs were the last of the "affordable" wear.
I am so bored with the designs and colors of late. I a
Have worn lulu from their inception and had to stop myself from buying things. Not the case on 2011. I wouldn't mind paying for things that are super cool and limited but now everyone at my gym and run events look alike. Boring......
Seems they have a set pallet and no fun patterns since unicorn tears. No cute speed shorts....etc.
No kidding @ Melissa.......because CRB's and Scuba's arn't there core items. This makes me really mad!
I just stopped buying lulu. Its not worth the money to sweat in!
I am going to have to stop or at least seriously restrict my buying at lulu with all these price increases. It's nice stuff but not that nice. It's about time I branched out into other retailers who also offer quality clothing but at a more palatable price point.
Someone over at lulu is getting extremely rich with all of these price increases. Btw, I just checked the lulu website and all of the crbs are gone (not listed) except for heathered mauve and ghost snowy owl dip dye (listed together), the special edition black one, and the luxtreme one. Do you think they are preparing for the price jump tomorrow?
hey pretty addicted--- what other brands would you recommend?
This is super ridiculous - considering that their markdowns are just proof that their markups have a reverse effect on sales... though at the end of the day it's barely effecting their gross margins, we still buy it, after all, whether it's at original price or if we wait til it's in WMTM!
we ahould all boycott to make a point!
I JUST talked to someone at the GEC and they said expect the prices to go up in 2 weeks. I'm thinking tomorrow the prices will increase though. I asked what happened to all the other colors that used to be on the site (like rocksteady) and she said they were 'sold out'. Common lululemon i'm not a fool! I love LOVE lululemon and even with this price increase it won't stop me from buying more lulu. Lululemon could care less what we think about their price changes because people like me will continue to buy it!
anony @3:57pm: To be honest I haven't bought too much workout wear that isn't Lulu. I am going to start by checking out The North Face and Lucy because I have both stores near me. I know that a lot of their prices are lower to start, and their markdowns are more significant than Lulu without the stupid final sale caveat. HTH!
I will never buy other brands for workout wear but I have certainly cut down a lot on buying as there is nothing interesting lately.
@ pretty addicted - thanks, this is anony. :) I just found out about Lulu's little girl brand, Ivivva, and I should be able to squeeze into their largest size on bottoms at least. Hope they'll start shipping to the U.S. soon. I have some Nike pieces but they definitely don't compare. I'm going to try some Under Armor now. I didn't know North Face made exercise gear, and hadn't heard of Lucy (on their webpage now though!)
Hi PoorLuluFan- You could also try Athleta-they're a company owned by Gap (www.athleta.com). They have lots of bright colors right now. I don't think they're bottoms are as flattering as Lulu, but their other things are nice. Plus, they have a great return policy. If you wear something, and don't like how it functions-they take it back.
I am so frustrated with the price increases. No wonder the company has no debt, and is worth a lot! I don't know about anyone else, but I've also had quality issues with a lot of their things this past year.
I spoke with the local Lulu store, and they said purples and grass green for October....I guess we'll see.
ANonn 4:05: They did that with the scubas right before they went up! They removed the colors, and someone called GEC, and they said they'd sold out.
whoa, def. checking out athleta! do you lulu fans hang out in a forum or mostly just talk in comments on here? purple is one of my favorite colors so i'm looking forward to seeing this week's upload.
No more CRBs for me. Even $39 was too much. I didn't buy any more Modern Racer Backs either when the price jumped from $39 to $42. For a simple shelf-less tank, my price point is definitely under $40. I love that all those scubas are sitting there on markdown. Get a clue, lulu.
I saw the CRB price increase on the white couple of weeks ago at our local showroom. I said something one of the educators and told her some old white ones are still at $39. So, we rang up the new $42 CRB but it came to $39. Strange but I was happy anyways.
lulu items are on the pricey side as it is, if they keep jacking up the prices, not sure if I can continue this addiction. *sigh
Hi PoorLuluFan: I am not aware of a forum, and I am not on any of the social media sites-I tend to hang out in the comments on this website. I tend to see the same 'faces,' though. Whenever I try to post using my Gmail account, my comment doesn't post, so I always click anonymous, now. It's fun to share thoughts on Lulu stuff, as well as enjoy the advice out there (I'm the person who posted about Athleta).
It's through this website that I was warned about the impending price increase on the scubas some time ago. I got my blue dip dye scuba for the old price-the day before the price increased from 108.00 to 148.00!!! So, I really value the comments here.
cool - nice to meet you! I don't own a ton of Lulu, but I love what I have and drool over their items often. I recently moved to Michigan so I'm hoping they come out with some winterized leggings soon, and maybe some more winter accessories. My brisk earwarmer is already getting heavy rotation.
^ oops, that's Poor Lulu :) gotta get my accounts straight.
Has anyone seen the scuba hoodie in the ghost ground nesting black bird in US stores? They are sold out in a size 6 online.
do you ladies think the Riding Pants have a good chance of going on sale? I know they're not too popular w/ bloggers, but I actually love them--kind of a wetsuit sort of look to them. They have my size in 3 of the 4 colors right now. I'm really hoping they get marked down.
re: Anon 2:46, Agree that all the ladies at my crossfit gym have similar clothes, but you know what, the Lulu is way more flattering than other brands and so I think that's what makes us keep going back. That said, I have a nice collection going, so I am only buy pieces I really love.
This is frustrating! Good point about the mark-down scubas being a lame deal. Before buying loot, I always try to ask myself if I would have bought it at the regular price. This strategy has helped my wallet a bit!
I can't believe they would raise prices! (kicking myself for not getting the nesting bird crb while it was still available at 39)
I always browse my store and very rarely buy anything that's not marked down, I'm only a nurse and can't afford the crazy prices. I just placed four things In my cart and my total was 400 bucks, that's insane. The mark down section isn't even what it use to be, not that long ago a loot in stride was 69 now they're 89.
Hi All!
Like everyone else I love lulu, but good night nurse what is up with all the price increases. You should check out Zella sold at Nordstrom's, and I have recently grown to love underarmour's work out tops that were on the anniversary sale for 26.00. They are long sleeved with thumbholes and are quite long in length.
I have enough work out gear and such so this is definitely a good time for a shopping hiatus!
Amanda
thank goodness i grabbed a crb on sale for 29
the scuba increase is insane. there's no way i'm paying $98 or more for a zip hoodie and i've been wanting one for months. i wish i had bought one before the price increase.
I'm a law student on loans who loves hot yoga and has been in Lulu since I stumbled upon a store in Canada 5 years ago, because its the most comfortable clothing to sweat in!! However, I'm going to have to stop shopping their because of their crazy price increases! Their sale items aren't even worth it! And now they're raising their prices with stickers???? It's so disheartening!
Some of the other brands I love are Prana, Athleta, and Lole'. It stinks that even the CRB's are going up though. I've only discovered Lulu in the last year when our showroom here opened and have really become hooked on their awesome designs, quality and colors.. I wont be able to get their stuff though if the prices keep going up.
We have seen all their fiascoes this past year with customer service. They clearly do not care. Vote with your wallets, people. I will be sticking with purchasing from TJIS and the exchange from now on.
I really find the fit of lulu superior to a lot of other brands that I have tried but the lack of variety in color and new designs lately has put a damper on my spending. I think I last went truly crazy when the Tinted Canvas print came out but this summer has been pretty dull overall and I've only bought a piece here and there, like the Run For Your Life Tank or Black Stripes Galore Power Y. I'm just filling in gaps in my wardrobe now, like with the Pritti crops and Wunder Under Grooves. It seems that the fall is off to a slow start so far. I am waiting for more pullover designs and some new tanks.
One thing that helps me swallow the big price is that the resale value of lulu on Ebay is pretty decent but there is no way I am paying $148 for a Scuba hoodie. The resale on them doesn't justify it.
I have been more impressed with the quality of Lucy than Lulu. And they stand behind their products.
I haven't been as impressed with Athleta. I do like Zella from Nordys.
But I will continue to buy Lulu. I love that the resale is pretty good- I don't feel like I am throwing my money away then.
I'm really disappointed in the direction that Lululemon is choosing to go. I've only been wearing/buying lulu for a few months now and I've already seen several price increases. I do a decent amount of shopping, and I've never seen another retailer hike their prices the way lulu does. What gives? Honestly, I think that Lulu makes some really nice functional clothing, but for the price I might as well be wearing under armor (which I used to think was expensive...not after lulu). Lulu has been a bit of an obsession for me these past few months, so maybe it's good that they're hiking their prices beyond what even I can rationalize. So long, Lulu!
Loving my Costco 'CRB"'s even more now. This is ridiculous and I will NOT be buying any more. The core items were not supposed to increase. Goodbye Lulu.
At $39 I felt like I was getting hosed for buying one. Now that it is over $42 I just can't justify it! The markup on these must be through the roof!
Hi- I love lulu but am annoyed/ bored as well. Splits59.com has some really cute stuff (many of the instructors at my local pure barre wear it) and they offer free shipping over $150 and free returns. The lame Raquel pant is an unusual design and very flattering.
I find it hilarious that they think people like me will continue to pay those ridiculous prices for clothing that continues to decrease in quality.
Maybe it's acceptable for yoga.
But as a runner, my clothing needs to last and can't wither away when I work hard.
Not to mention there are definitely other brands that do the job but are cheaper. Of course there are items that aren't the same, but none of those items are necessary workout gear in my opinion. Nice stretchy pants that make your butt look nice? Sure. But they don't do a damn thing for running.
Going to be shopping brooks, nike, under armour etc. for more of my running gear from now on. Those companies aren't stupid either, they are catching on and a lot of their stuff is very flattering and trendy.
